Chapter 24-A promise

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl sat on the porch as the moon rose in the sky. "You should get some sleep, baby brother," Merle says as he walks up to him and sits down.

"I will," Daryl says. "So what are you going to do?"

"I ain't going anywhere," Merle says as he looks at his brother. "I'm going to say something and you ain't going to speak, not until I'm done, you understand?"

Daryl nods. "Yeah, I got it." "I was wrong," Merle says. "This group, they have a chance, especially Glenn, Amy, and Rick. That does not mean I like any of 'em. I'm not the biggest fan of your friendship with the sheriff, I've come to accept Glenn and I care about Amy. So I'll behave, I'll help them, but don't ever think it is because I give a shit about 'em. I'm doing it for you, because you were right, I wasn't there for you, I haven't been the best brother, so I'll try," Merle says and Daryl doesn't say anything as Merle stands up. "You better treat, Amy right, the girl will be the best thing to ever happen to you," Merle walks away from his brother who watches him as he disappears behind the house. Daryl walks to his tent. He pulls the flap open and looks at Amy who was laying on his sleeping bag. "What are you doing?" Daryl asks.

"Going to sleep," Amy says. "You should be laying in a bed." "I'm fine, now get in here, I'm tired," Daryl smirks as he climbs in the tent and kicks his boots off. He pulls his vest off and lays on his back. Amy lays her head on his chest. "How many of them did you kill?" Amy asks. "I don't know," Daryl answers. "Rick and I shot 'em as they came in the door, I killed one of 'em in the woods."

"I've tried not to think about the people we could run into," Amy says. "Now we have to fight another group, kill another group." "We'll be alright," Daryl says before he kisses her head. "Get some sleep." Amy nods as she closes her eyes.

Andrea's P.O.V

Andrea stood on top of the R.V as the sun rose in the sky. She looks at the ladder as Glenn climbs up. "You're up early," Andrea says. "Couldn't stay asleep," Glenn says as he stands by the blond. "Anything?" "Nope, it's been a boring night, no walkers or people," Andrea tells Glenn who nods.

"We need to teach Beth, Maggie, Patricia and Jimmy to shoot," Glenn tells Andrea. "Shooting off guns right now might not be the best idea," Andrea tells him. "We don't know if they are around." "You're right," Glenn says. "But it might be a risk we have to take. We'll wait for now," Glenn tells her. "Do we have a plan here, Glenn?" Andrea asks Glenn. "No," Glenn answers. "We don't know how many people they have or where they are, right now we stay here, double watch and patrol and hope T-dog gets back here quickly," Glenn says and Andrea nods as Glenn goes to the ladder and climbs down.

T-dog's P.O.V

T-dog looked at his group as they ate breakfast. "Today we'll try to loot as much of this place as possible. Jim why don't you and David head outside, see if you can find any cars that might work," T-dog tells Jim who nods as he looks at David who nods. "Lexi, Chase, and I will start searching inside, if we can get enough supplies today, hopefully we'll be able to head home tomorrow or the day after," T-dog says and they all nod as they continue to eat. After eating the two groups split up. T-dog knocks on a door and when he doesn't hear anything he pushes the door open and looks inside.

"We need to find the armory," Chase says. "I doubt there would be anything left," T-dog tells him. "People have probably been through here," T-dog says as he walks over to a bed. He looks under the bed and pulls out a rife. "We'll have better luck searching the rooms, I keep my weapons close when I sleep."

"Alright, then let's get a move on," Lexi says and the two men nod.

Alicia's P.O.V

Alicia found Liza as she walked out of the room Jenner was in. "How is he?" Alicia asks her. "He's getting better," Liza says. "What's up, Alicia?" "I need to talk to you," Alicia says and Liza nods as Alicia leads her out of the house and away from the group. "First off, how bad was, L.A?" "It was bad, we saw it get bombed, I know you had a boyfriend there, I doubt he made it," Liza tells her.

"I didn't think he did," Alicia says. "I have to tell you something but you can't tell anybody, besides Lori." "Okay." "She's pregnant," Alicia tells Liza. "I know it isn't my secret to tell but someone needs to look at her and Hershel doesn't have the right experience, but you do." "I'll talk to her," Liza tells her. "Thanks," Alicia says. "I have patrol with Glenn, I'll see you later."

Liza nods as Alicia walks away.

Rick's P.O.V

Rick walks up to Daryl as he stood by the table looking at a drawing. "What is that?" Rick asks. "I made a map of the farm, sorry I ain't no artist," Daryl says and Rick smirks. "You got a map?"

"Dale does," Rick says. "Can you grab it for me?" Daryl asks Rick who nods as he walks into the R.V. He comes out and hands it out to Daryl who spreads it out on the table. "This is us right here," Daryl says. "We have one way off this damn farm by car." "You think we need an escape plan?" Rick asks. "Couldn't hurt," Daryl says. "What if we set up cars on the other side of the woods," Rick says. "If we stay straight going from the house into the woods, they shouldn't be to hard to find, we find two cars, set 'em up and bury a couple bags of supplies in a hole near them in case the cars are found." "Ain't a bad plan," Daryl says. "I'll talk with Travis and Glenn." Rick nods as Daryl walks away.

Beth's P.O.V

Beth walked into the room Jenner was in and saw the doctor sitting in the bed. "I miss movies," Jenner says. "I miss school," Beth says as she sits down at the edge of the bed. "I'm sorry."

"It was an emotional day," Jenner says. "I'm sorry about your family." "I'm sorry about your wife," Beth says. "There really is not hope is there?" "I don't know," Jenner answers. "I hope that there is, we don't know what tomorrow holds, if we give up now, they people we've lost died for nothing so we go on, try to find hope, if we're living so are they." Beth nods. "Get some sleep." "I will," Jenner says as Beth leaves the room.

Jim's P.O.V

Jim climbs out a car and looks at David. "Won't start," He tells the man.

"We could check that building," David says as he points at a small building.

"Might as well," Jim says as he goes towards the building. He knocks on the door and doesn't hear anything. Jim pushes the door open and enters the building. Inside was two Humvees and a couple of doors. "I'll check the cars, you check the rooms," Jim tells David who nods as he walks away from him. Jim goes towards the humvee and pulls the door open. He climbs in and pulls the visor down to find the keys. Jim smiles and then he hears a crash and David cry out in pain. Jim quickly jumps out of the Humvee and runs into the office as David pushes a walker off of him. "What happened?" "He was locked in the fucking closet," David says as he slowly stands up and lays his hand on his shoulder. He pulls it away and looks at the blood on his hand. "Can you look?" Jim nods as he walks over to the man and pulls his shirt down, he looks at the bite on David's shoulder. "I got bit from a walker that was stuffed in a closet, I would laugh if it wasn't so depressing,"

"David-"

"There's no we can do now, let's check the cars and get back to the others," David tells Jim who slowly nods as David leaves the room.

Lori's P.O.V

Lori was hanging clothes when Liza walked up to her. "She told you?" Lori asks. "What makes you think that?" Liza asks.

"There is no other reason you would be talking to me," Lori says as she turns to look at the mother. "You ever deliver a baby?"

"No," LIza says. "I'll still need Hershel help more than likely. Carl is your son right?" "Yes," Lori answers. "We can talk later, I still haven't even told me husband," Lori says. Liza nods. "Okay, just come find me."

Jim's P.O.V

The group stood in the room that they were sleeping in. "We could go back," T-dog tells David. "You can say bye to Mandy."

"We might make it or I could die in the car, no, we'll stay here," David says as he stands up. "I'll be back," David says before he leaves the room.

"We take him back with us, bury him at the farm," Lexi says and T-dog nods as he sits down. "What are we going to do about his daughter." "We'll take care of her," T-dog tells her. "Jim, why don't you go and keep him company?" Jim nods as he leaves the room. Ten minutes later he finds David sitting at a table in the cafeteria. Jim sat across from his silently as he wrote a note. After a couple of minutes David picks up the piece of paper and folds it before pushing it over to Jim. "Make sure she gets that."

"I will," Jim says as he tucks the note in his pocket. "Jim, I need you to take care of my little girl." "Me? I can't," Jim says. "You can," David says. "I know what you went through, losing your family in Atlanta, you lost everything and now Mandy is about to lose the only family she has left, Jim, I need to know that she will taken care of, you both can be there for each other, please, I'm begging you, take care of my little girl, she's all that matters to me." Jim stares at the man for a moment before he nods. "I'll take care of her like she is one of my own."

"Thank you, now leave, you don't want to be here for the next part."

"You still have time," Jim says. "I know," David says. "But I wanna be the one to do it, while I still can, so please Jim, leave me and let end my life."

Jim nods as he stands up and walks towards the door. He stops and looks at David. "I promise you; nothing will happen to Mandy."

"I know," David says. "She'll survive and so will you, good luck, Jim," David says and Jim nods as he leaves the room. Jim pressed his back against the door and a couple of minutes later, a gunshot echoed through the building.
