Chapter 2 A new beginning

Sarah's POV

(One year later)

I walked into my favorite little coffee shop in a very bad mood. My computer gave me the blue screen of death last night right before I could finish my college exam, and my professor was giving me a hard time about it. I was still angrily typing on my phone as I stepped up to the counter to order.

"my normal please."

"Alright one normal coming right up, that is as soon as I'm informed what that is."

I glanced up surprised. I had been expecting to hear and see Cassie, the 14 year old daughter of the owners. In her place was a tall young man probably close to my age, not only that he was hot.

He was standing sideways on the right side of the counter half facing the minnu. His tan muscular arms were casually crossed In front of him, and his sandy blonde hair was contained by one of those hair nets.

I said something really competent like. "Umm, I, er, hi? Who are you?"

Quickly I put a hand over my mouth to make myself stop talking.

The hot guy turned to face me, his blue eyes seemed to sparkle with a laugh he wasn't going to let out for my sake. I let out a small Involuntary gasp, because directly underneath his right eye was a thick white scar that ran all the way down to his jaw!

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to be rude."

I managed to say,but I couldn't make myself stop starting. His smile was friendly and he didn't sound offended as he said.

"Not to worry I get that reaction a lot. I was in a bad car accident when I was 14. Anyway my name's Luke, what can I do for you miss…"

I answered automatically.

"Sarah, my name is Sarah."

My mind was raising. He had lied so smoothly I barely caught it. I had never been able to figure out why but ever since I was 12 I could tell when someone was lying. It's like my Brian yells, "Liar!" Whenever someone is being verbally dishonest, however the response was late this time. And why did he have a reason to lie? Luke snapped me out of my thoughts by repeating his question.

"So, Sarah, what can I do for you today?"

"Umm, I don't know, surprise me."

He scanned my face with the slightest of frowns, then it was gone in an instant. Even so I couldn't shake the feeling that he had just read me like an open book. I watched him in return as he started making my coffee, he was graceful in all his movements never taking an unnecessary step. After a couple minutes Luke handed me the iced coffee, a smile back on his face.

"What is it?"

I asked while contemplating the cup. There was an almost mischievous look to his eyes as he answered.

"That would be one of my own creations, I like to call it the Olympus Flurry."

He must have seen me glance at the minnu because he said.

"You won't find it on the minnu, I haven't had a chance to talk to the boss about it yet."

"Then how will I know what to pay for it?"

"Simple."

His smile broadened

"You don't, it's on me."

I was stunned… again.

"Why would you buy my coffee for me, I don't even know you?"

With a small chuckle he said.

"What, can I not buy a cup of coffee for a beautiful woman who's obviously had a bad day?"

My face suddenly felt very warm and I really hoped it wasn't as red as it felt.

"As for not knowing each other."

He reached into his apron pocket and produced a piece of paper and scribbled something on it and slid it over to me saying.

"I think that I would like to get to know you, I'm pretty new in town and would like to make some new friends."

I looked down and I think I may have flushed even more, because on that piece of paper was his name and phone number. With a smile he gave me a small 2 fingered salute then went to serve the next customer.
