Chapter 3 Metaphorical Minotaurs hurt

Luke's POV

I couldn't help but glance towards Sarah periodically as I worked. After all, I wasn't lying when I said she was beautiful. She was Petite in her build, with shoulder length wavy red hair and dark green eyes. She wore hardly any makeup, which allowed the light sprinkling of freckles on her nose to be seen. Sarah was easily one of the prettiest girls I've met, which is saying something because I had known a lot of pretty girls. Selena Beauregard or Annabeth for instance, a wave of gilt hit me like a charging Minotaur, at the thought of those names. I had used them both mercilessly, playing with their emotions and manipulating them to serve my purpose. Just to throw them away after they had served that purpose, and the same was being done to me by Cronos yet I was to blind to see it. Annabeth had been right all along about that fact, of course she had been right. Why couldn't I have seen that or what she was growing up to be until I was dying on the floor. I glanced back at Sarah to clear my thoughts and was caught looking. I smiled mostly to myself because I almost never get caught, and I had found myself hoping that she was single and not a demon vampire like my last girlfriend. Hooking up with Kelly had definitely been another mistake on my part.
