Chapter 33 The Great Prophecy

Sarah's POV

"Wisdom's daughter and Son of the Sea stand on edge of eternity,

A small girl gasped, "Percy and Annabeth."

"Soon to fall immeasurably."

The power couple's hands tightened around their weapons, turning their knuckles white.

"Truth and lies the Traitor's disguise.

Though camp decides if he lives or dies."

Armor rattled as demigods shifted uneasily.

"Fait decreed friends be freed for hero's sake Olympus will bleed.

The seven exchanged uncomfortable glances.

"Wisdom's daughter and Son of the Sea

stand on edge of eternity,

Soon to fall immeasurably.

Truth and lies,

the Traveler's disguise.

Though camp decides

if he lives or dies.

Fait decreed

friends be freed

for hero's sake Olympus will bleed.

Title unwanted must be claimed

if son and daughter are to be saved.

For ebis eternal takes bone and skin

in hope to condemn two souls which escaped him.

All in vain lest sisters champion in worlds unreal and stand by them."

After the last line of petrifying poetry was delivered. Rachel collapsed into Savanna, who lowered her to the ground. The silence which followed was somehow more deafening than the girl's booming voice. Abruptly the silence was shattered by a near deafening explosion, closed by the river rocketing a hundred feet into the air then crashing back down. When the ringing in my ears subsided I could hear Percy yelling at the sky.

"NO! NO NO NO! WE ARE DONE! YOU HEAR ME DONE?!"

Once my heart stopped trying to beat out of my chest, I glanced around at the other's faces. Some looked half scared out of their minds thanks to the explosion. Others were staring at Percy and Annabeth with a mix of concern and pity. Most were looking to them and the rest of the seven as if they were expecting some kind of answer or reassurance. None of whom seemed to have much to offer. Jason's face was unreadable as he stood halfway at attention with one arm wrapped around Piper reassuringly as she leaned against him. Leo's hair was literally on fire, though he didn't seem to notice or care that much. He was apparently distracted by adding Percy's very colorful and diverse language to his recording of the creepy poetry, because why not?...

Annabeth took her boyfriend's hand in hers, squeezing it hard. Successfully distracting him from calling the gods… uhh…unique names. With his tirade finished uneasy murmurs could be heard, until Chiron stepped forward to address us.

"Campers, may I have your attention for a moment?"

When the last voice could no longer be heard he continued.

"First for those of you who don't know, that was a Prophecy. However, what we just heard was not any ordinary Prophecy. Those lines our Oracle delivered are more important than most. Congratulations to everyone present, history has just been made. This is the first time three Great Prophecies have been delivered in the same century. Let alone two of them having been delivered by the same Oracle. Now tomorrow morning we will have a Head Counselors meeting to discuss the new Great Prophecy. For the time being it's getting late so I believe it's time for bed, before the monsters which call our woods home decide they're ready for supper."

There were some complaints but everyone began to move back towards the cabins. Chiron scooped up the redhead Prophetess, holding her easily as he called back to me.

"Come along Sarah, you really shouldn't be on your own in the woods after dark."

I started to follow then on an impulse said,

"Wait, can I ask you a question first?"

He smiled at me with a slight teacher's gleam in his eyes.

"I suppose you can, seeing as you just did."

I groaned inwardly, I should have seen that coming.

"Now, you may ask a second question, if I may ask a question of my own."

"That's fair I guess."

Though I have to admit I was more than a little worried he would ask where I snuck off too.

"Very well Sarah, ask your question."

"What does the prophecy mean?"

"That is an excellent question, one I don't fully know the answer to. Though I fear we may receive the answer to your question far sooner than we are prepared for."

I frowned, he wasn't lying but I got the feeling he knew more than he was telling me. Which was beyond frustrating.

"Chiron,"

"Yes child."

"what do you think it means?"

"I believe that is question number three."

He smiled good-naturedly, before his face returned to a serious one.

"I think the prophecy means we will have more hard and grim times ahead of us, possibly this will be the biggest trial yet. I hope for the sake of us all we can withstand it. Now if I have given you a sufficient explanation, I believe it's my turn to ask a question."

I nodded, still a little worried about what he might ask.

"Why haven't you asked the question you seek an answer to?"

I blinked, confused.

"Sorry, I don't think I understand."

He smiled,

"You're seeking an answer to a specific question are you not?"

"Well yes."

"Then why haven't you asked it?"

It dawned on me he was talking about Luke. How on earth did he know about that? A numb tingly feeling spread over my whole body, how much did he know about that? What would happen if he found out? Supposedly this was Luke's former teacher, cautiously I replied.

"I have."

"Did you get the answer you were looking for?"

"No, I've been told that Annabeth and Percy would be the best to ask. Though I've also been told it's a touchy subject."

"It is, though perhaps with a new Great Prophecy delivered they may give you the answers you're looking for."

"You're telling me to ask them?"

"I'm not telling you to do or not to do anything. However, keep in mind Sarah that if you never ask you may never know."

With that, he started walking away. We walked together in silence until we got to the edge of the woods. I began to walk towards my cabin, till Chiron called after me.

"Oh, Sarah."

Stopping, I looked back at Chiron.

"Before you return to your cabin, go to the infirmary to get those wounds cleaned up. Just be sure to get a Harpy pass from the healer before you leave. Also, I'm not quite sure where you found that knife, but take care of it and learn to use it.

"I will."

With that Chiron turned to leave, taking the Oracle back to her cave.
