It was silent after that announcement of the title and everyone was... Confused by the title. "I'm sorry... Resident Evil? What kind of title is that?" Lisa asked.
Trevor thought about it, "Well the only thing coming to mind is the fact the residences are evil because of the in-laws or ghosts haunting the place. Or the ghost of the inlaws haunting the place."
"Very creative, Belmont." Carmilla rolled her eyes at the description.
Striga nodded in agreement but then dashed all the expectations. "He's not wrong, the first house was haunted by babushka who did not like my wife simply because of her skin."
"Wait, that happened?" Lenore asked to which Morana nodded.
Morana then added, "It's the main reason I agreed to move into the castle so I wouldn't have to hear an old bat of a ghost yelling at me in Russian."
"An exorcism would work wonders for getting rid of them." Leon pointed out.
"Or perhaps bring the Ghostbuster versions of us back in time to take care of it." Adrian said.
"And make the house even worse than before? I think not." Morana said with a cross of her arms.
Willow just looked at Morana and couldn't help but lay her hand on her husband's cheek as he just laid on it, while she laid on his hand as she said to him, "Very strange, very strange indeed."
The Director chuckled before asking, "Are we ready for this next viewing?"
Lisa however stands "Sorry but I'm afraid I must freshen up real quick." Soon followed by Greta and Willow who smiled, "I believe we all deserve a little longer break."
The Director looked at his wife before shrugging. "As you wish." The Director obliged her request. Dracula watched with slight worry but Lisa gave him a gentle look to show that she was ok.
Soon all three pregnant women left, leaving those few who didn't need to go to finally process what they saw, or in Richter's case still dealing with his mind and memories that were not his own. "I still can't believe… I can't believe there is a timeline where I would happily enlist for her."
Sypha and even Morana who were intrigued soon got a little closer as Sypha asked, "What is it? What is it that another you did?"
Ricther closed his eyes as he breathed "I… he… was angry, angry at how that vampire was just able to beat us, so when he heard about another faction looking for volunteers to enlist… He enlisted."
Leon sighed gently as he shook his head, "Anger and hate. Good when in a fight but not when you need to think clearly."
"Indeed. That is what these viewings are intended to show us. So that we can change our future, and become better people for it." Dracula said, looking towards the youngest Belmont. The Director was biting his fist doing his best not to make a quote about the dark side.
"So what was the strangest or most interesting universe you've all seen?" Annette asked.
"Strangest one was seeing tall, dark, and gruesome over there, cursing at a bunch of chefs and customers at a restaurant." Trevor pointed his thumb to Dracula.
Dracula humphed, "While not untrue, the context is I was a famous chief who commanded respect."
"Besides, that's not the strangest, it had to be Lisa as a scientist attempting to bring Striga back to life via science." Sypha commented.
"Wait, did that work?" Maria asked out of confusion.
"It did. But it was very... Comedic." Adrian replied.
Julia would have commented if not for the moment of asking, "Um… if it's not too much to ask but, where is a place where one can go… uh powder their nose so to speak?" She asked in her own polite way for the restroom.
The Director smiled as he pointed to the door, "Down the hall and on the right. You can't miss it."
She nodded and soon left the room before finding it, however what she didn't expect was finding Lisa leaning against the wall with her holding her arms. "I… I can't believe it… At first I was revolted at the idea of her and now… Now I find myself hoping for such an opportunity to unleash the same sort of anger she has… Oh God, what is wrong with me?"
Julia looked at Lisa and became a little worried so she walked over to Lisa. "Mrs. Tepes? Are you ok?"
Greta was seen in the bathroom along with Willow who is there for moral support, as Lisa nodded. "Yes, just conflicting feelings mixed with the pregnancy is all."
"You're with child?" Julia was shocked.
"All of us are." Willow said, gently rubbing Lisa's arm.
Greta raised two fingers for herself, "Two little bundles of joy for me."
"Oh I see. What... What troubles you?" Julia asked, looking at Lisa with gentle eyes.
Lisa sighed as Willow kept rubbing her arm for comfort. "Well outside the pregnancy itself? I guess it's… well it's the last viewing."
Julia nodded a bit as she leaned up on the ledge of the sink. "I heard that the first viewing of you was when you first took over from your late husband, the Great Dracula."
Lisa nodded as she asked, "You remember how they said how ruthless she was?" Again Julia nodded, not understanding what she meant as she assumed they meant against that version of her enemies.
"I conquered most of Europe, razed entire kingdoms, and killed innocent people. Like they said, I was the second coming of Caesar. I was a monster." Lisa said, tears threatening to leak from her eyes.
Julia looked at her in surprise as she asked, "Surely you're joking? I mean yes, war is nasty but it couldn't have been that bad."
Greta decided to quote the first speech they heard but Julia missed. "Our enemies at home have been re-educated, I have given them new insight into our cause." She was silent before she added looking right at Julia in the eyes. "That version said that, all while Morana and her wife hunted down those who clearly didn't support the war or that version's regime."
"I was a dictator... I was no better than the Church that burned me because of my tools and herbs." Lisa said.
"You were burned at the stake?" Julia asked, her eyes widened.
Lisa couldn't help but laugh a bit as she motioned to the two of them. "And you were dead, guess we both look pretty good for a couple of dead girls."
Julia chuckled slightly before rubbing her shoulder. "But it looks like your counterpart changed for the better."
"Yes, yes she has… Which is what worries me because I felt her power, her hate, the absolute… well rush." Before she could go on, Greta's face turned a little pale before she ran to one of the stalls and began throwing up a bit. "Fuck, I'm not gonna get use to that. Can't seem to keep certain foods down." Greta groaned before Willow followed after her.
Willow gently knelt next to her and pulled her hair out of her face. "All about finding what works with your stomach."
Lisa nodded in agreement. "For me, it's now sweet and salty foods."
Willow added, "For me, it's more fruits than veggies ironically." That's when Greta rose from the toilet and walked to the sink to wash her face and wash her mouth of the taste of vomit.
Once Greta was all cleaned up, she spoke up. "They like meat, meat, meat, meat."
Julia couldn't help but remark. "Are you sure you're not a Lycan considering your craving is now around meat?"
"Wasn't bitten so no, I'm not a werewolf." Greta said, glancing at Julia. "Let's get this viewing over with. I just want to sleep…"
Willow helped Greta up only for all four to stop at the sound of a gunshot ringing through the whole area since the bathrooms were close to the theater room which caused them to tense as Willow was the first to run out the room after handing Greta off to Lisa.
Dracula was the first to burst out from the theater. "Lisa!" He shouted, looking for his wife.
Lisa came running to him as the Director was heard speaking over the PSA. "Medical droids to the common area. I say again, medical droids to the common area." Willow ran past them as she arrived at said common area where to her shock, Trevor of all people, was seen holding a smoking gun aimed at Olrox who was holding his bleeding gut caused by the gun.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!" Willow shouted.
Trevor replied in a cold tone. "Blood for blood." Before dropping the pistol onto the floor.
Willow was confused as she started to look and saw a clearly wounded Ricther who had a broken arm who was behind Trevor who was panting a bit as now the sound of running feet could be heard coming up behind Willow as the Director looked at the scene and asked "What the fuck is going on in my Observatory?"
Looking back at Trevor who now had Ricther in one of the chairs, he asked, "Want to explain what the hell happened?"
Richter sighed, "It was my fault." And like that, he went onto explain what happened.
Several Moments Ago*
"So you waged a one man war against Hell itself?" Annette looked at Dracula with widened eyes. "That's... Scary."
"Indeed, I felt the rage from my counterpart. If it wasn't for specific cuffs keeping my rage suppressed, I would've potentially destroyed this entire station." Dracula explained.
"All of that, for a little rabbit?" Maria asked.
"It wasn't just a rabbit, that was that universe's version of Lisa. At least her innocence." Sypha explained to the young Speaker.
Maria shook her head. "I'm sorry I just, I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that someone's entire innocence could be bundled into something so… so…" She trailed off as she saw said bunny who just looked at her which caused her to look at the bunny and coo. "So cute!"
Dracula had a slight smile on his face, "Would you like to hold her?"
Maria was rather surprised by the King of Vampires offering her to hold the tiny bunny. She nodded and gently took the young kit and let her head and ears. It brought a calming presence to her spirit and mind as the grief of losing her mother was slowly pushed to the back of her mind.
"The same thing happened to me, with this little one." Adrian said, holding Daisy in his arms.
This got Annette to come over and softly pet the dog who wagged her tail happily, "What is the name of your dog?" She asked.
"Daisy. Greta's favorite flower." Adrian said with a smile.
Olrox watched, and was unimpressed by such feelings. After all, they got their revenge yet he was demonized for his own. "Such slaughter is praised..." Olrox said to himself.
Ricther soon stood up and began to leave. "I'm gonna clear my head after what we saw..and try and figure out which of these things in my head is mine or not."
Richter left the theater room and took a deep breath as more memories began to flood his head. He found himself in the gun range and looked at the various firearms. Looking at a few he was drawn to one rifle, a black powder rifle that had a bolt unlike the muskets he knew, looking at the information he couldn't help but chuckle a bit due to how many numbers needed just to identify a gun. "M-1841 Dreyse needle-gun, 1841–1876. Prussia. Such a mouthful."
The glass opened and the rifle floated towards him. Richter grabbed it gently and examined it before looking at the targets that popped up in the range. However, what started out as simple target practice to try and clear his head, caused the memories to almost intensify as he could clearly hear the commands. "MAKE READY!" Like clockwork he racked the bolt back and loaded in the first of five paper cartridges before closing the bolt and cocking the firing pin into place. "AIM!" Bringing the rifle up he looked down at his target, only in place of the paper target was the sight of men, vampires dressed in Erzebet's colors.
His eyes burned with rage as he waited. Waited for the order. 'FIRE' He heard in his head, and he started firing at the vampire targets. Richter had no experience with firearms. Not even during the French Revolution did he handle a rifle. He preferred physical fights with his whip. So it seemed strange for a boy with no experience, to handle a rifle like he was a professional.
Which was why Ricther put the rifle back after firing his five rounds, even when ordered to reach for it, he did not find the bayonet.
Ricther was slightly panicked which was why he walked away, and continued to walk before he stopped at the common room with his head against the glass. He started whispering to himself. "I'm Richter Belmont, I'm Richter Belmont. I'm a hunter, not a soldier, I'm not... I'm not a soldier." He was trying his best to keep his breathing in check as was his heart beat as he gripped his head. 'On your feet, captain! Muster your men!' Shaking his head he all but shouted, "NO!"
He screamed as he started punching the glass, causing it to crack and his knuckles to bleed as his headache worsened and the voices from his memory grew more intense.
Finally falling down to the floor in a bit of a ball, he began to breathe a bit before the sounds of soft footsteps were heard along with HIS voice. "So, your new lives are worse than mine."
Richter opened his eyes and stood up to see the face of Olrox and he snarled. "The fuck do you want from me?"
"I wanted to make something clear with you, boy. We may be in a place of neutrality, but that will not stop me from killing your mother once more, and this time, I won't hesitate to have you join her." Olrox looked at him with a frown.
This made Richter angry as he stood up. "If you may a fucking finger on her-"
"You'll what? Get in the way? Get your mother killed once more because of your selfishness?" Olrox asked with a smirk, his green eyes glowing.
Richter's eyes widened before his fits bursted into blue flames and he quickly delivered a quick jab to Olrox's face. The vampire stumbled back slightly, nursing his jaw as he glared back at the young Belmont.
Richter rushed forward to deliver another blow, but with a swift motion, Olrox grabbed Richter's wrist and broke it which caused the young man to yell before he threw the young man towards a couch for which he collided with before collapsing to the floor.
The vampire walked towards Richter, but before anymore could be done, a loud bang was heard, and blood poured out of his chest. Olrox collapsed to the ground, holding his bleeding chest while looking behind to see Trevor holding a revolver. "Get the fuck away from my descendant!" Trevor growled.
Olrox groaned as he held his chest as Trevor slowly walked around with a large revolver with its blued steel finish aimed at the wounded vampire, now standing between Ricther and the vampire Trevor asked Richter, "You alright, lad? How bad do you hurt?"
"Ugh... My arm is broken." Richter replied with a groan as he held his arm.
Trevor kept his eyes on Olrox as he said, "You're fine, walk it off."
Olrox groaned as he slowly stood up "The fuck do you think you're doing, Belmont? You think that little toy of yours can stop me?"
Trevor couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "Toy? Oh my friend, this is no toy. This right here," He showed off the revolver a bit. "is the Smith and Wesson Model 29 chambered in 44 Magnum. The world's most powerful bullet, so powerful in fact it's said to be able to take your head clean off. And it has five shots left. Five shots to keep you from doing anymore harm to my great grandson."
Olrox looked at him and snarled, "You think that will keep me down?"
Trevor kept his revolver trained on him while pulling the hammer down, "How lucky are you feeling, fucker?" The rush of footsteps alerted the three that people were coming.
Present Time*
Trevor, after finishing his tale, said with a smirk. "Needless to say, now I want to try and make a 44. earlier than it should when we get home."
Julia couldn't help but baby her son slightly as he had his arm submerged in a blue gel like substance that was healing it while Olrox had his shirt cut open as a droid was digging the 44. FMJ out of his chest.
Olrox grunted from the pliers digging inside of his chest. The Director looked towards Richter and Olrox before speaking. "From now on, you two will never be in the same room alone. You will not speak to one another, you will be separated the entire time. And I better not see any of you tailing the other. Are we understood?"
Ricther didn't say anything while Olrox simply bowed his head and grunted out. "Yes, My Lord."
"Now Olrox, you're going to stay there and wait for the droid to dig the bullet out, while we go back to the theater." The Director said, before he, Dracula, Willow, Trevor, Lisa, Richter, and Julia walked out of the medical center.
Once outside, Richter stayed silent the entire time before, of all people Trevor, smacked the boy up the head. "The fuck were you thinking!? Did you really think you could take on a vampire with just your fists! Like you're some big bad tough guy?"
"He baited me... Told me he was still going to kill my mother." Richter explained, but kept his head down.
Trevor calmed down slightly and rubbed his eyes. "Look boy, I understand you want to kill him because of what he did. And believe me, I want him dead too. But there is no time and place for that."
"Enough. From all of you." Dracula ordered them to which they fell silent. "It is clear Olrox is blinded by vengeance against you and your mother. Whether or not he is bold enough to do it with all of us here, it is unclear. But as of now, the two remain separate, and never talk. End of story."
Trevor and Leon even Julia nodded in agreement as it would be best, only for Ricther to ask, "Why should I?" Which caused Dracula to stop as he slowly turned around to look at Ricther whose head was downcast, not even giving him the respect of looking him in the eye, or anyone for that matter.
"Say that again, boy?" Dracula asked in a low tone. This made everyone except for Julia step back as they knew Dracula was not one to be talked back to.
Ricther said it once more, "Why should I? Your kind took my mother from me. Your kind are nothing more than evil bastards who lie and kill and strip everything away from innocent people. Your kind-!" He would have continued if not for the sound of a powerful slap which didn't come from his mother, but from the woman who would bless his blood line with magical abilities.
Sypha glared at Richter as she spoke, "You will shut your mouth this instant, Belmont! I don't care if you are a Vampire Hunter, you will treat the vampires on this station with respect! Especially this one, who commands them!" She emphasized by pointing to Dracula. "If you cannot learn basic human decency, you will not be any better than the humans that have murdered, lied, and stole from innocence! If you want revenge against Olrox, that is perfectly alright, but I never want to hear you say such tripe to Carmilla, Lenore, Morana, Striga, and him!"
Ritcher just looks shocked as he went to speak, "But-"
Only to be cut off by Sypha now bringing a finger to his face as she all but shouted, "NO BUTS! Dracula and Lisa have been nothing but kind to us and have even agreed! AGREED! To give our family titles and land to help give our family! YOU! YOUR MOTHER! YOUR GRANDFATHER! A bright future! So if you think you can show up and try to ruin everything we have discussed before we could even put it into effect, then you are DEAD WRONG!" Sypha breathed heavily as fire started to form around her eyes.
Ricther was silent as Sypha, now getting mer inches from his face continued, "SO WHEN WE GET BACK TO THAT THEATER! You will sit down and learn like a good example of the Belmont family and future house of Belmont. Am I a clear, young man!" Ricther was silent out of fear before she raised her voice. "AM I CELAR!?"
Richter said in a quiet voice. "Yes…" This pleased Sypha slightly before she started walking away. Dracula kept his eyes on Richter and frowned before walking away with Lisa attached to his arm.
Leon couldn't help but chuckle as he said towards Trevor. "You got a fiery one there, Trevor."
Trevor with a small smirk couldn't help but say in a bit of a proud voice. "You have no idea."
Once everyone was back in the theater room, Trevor came upon the sight of Sypha bowing her head towards Dracula as she was speaking with a voice filled with respect. "On behalf of the Belmont family, I promise you, Lord and Lady Tepes, that such disrespect shall not happen again, I promise you that I will do all I can to make sure that future generations of the Belmont line are respectful towards you and your family for all you are going to do for us."
"It's alright. He's still a young man, full of anger. We were all like that. But I will not tolerate that level of disrespect once more." Dracula said.
"O-of course." Sypha said, bowing her head once more.
"Can everyone take their seats so that we may start the viewing now?" The Director asked. Everyone took their usual seats and prepared themselves for what they'd potentially be watching.
Willow, however, was next to her husband as she giggled with a cheshire grin. "This is going to be so fun."
The screen turned on to reveal a logo of an octagonal shape that was red and white. Underneath it was the title, Umbrella Corporation.
That's when it faded to reveal Dracula, with short black hair and a mustache and beard. He wore an expensive suit and had a smile on his face as he sat down in a chair.
"Greetings. My name is Vlad Tepes, and I am the owner of the Umbrella Corporation. The largest pharmaceutical company in the world. If you are unfamiliar with our work, then allow me to take you on a little tour."
He stood up from his chair before moving on to a hallway with large windows. Revealing people in lab coats, working on their experiments.
"I started this company with one goal in mind. To save lives. It was my wife, Lisa, who wanted to become a doctor and make the world a better place. So that many would not live such short lives because of their lack of access to medicine. Thus I have created the Umbrella Corporation to bring forth a new age of medicine, science, and advanced technology." Dracula continued as he passed by scientists carrying vials of liquid.
Lisa smiled as she held her husband's hand which he returned with a loving grasp.
Julia looked on curiously as she asked, "A noble goal, but why an umbrella?"
Sypha tilted her head inquisitively, "Maybe so it can encompass more areas of medicine, like an umbrella." Trevor couldn't help but laugh a little at the un-said joke.
"Or it's more literal, like an umbrella protecting people from a storm of sickness." Maria suggested.
"That makes the most sense to me." Hector said.
"Hmm, a fair assessment." Adrian commented with a rub of his chin.
Dracula walked as he continued, "With research into combating the flu, common cold, and even cancer. Umbrella's goal is to save lives." Images of children who were clearly affected by cancer bound to wheelchairs changed to now happy and playing as normal children again.
"We have been funding schools across the world to give our children the future they rightly deserve. Providing food, medicine, and education to struggling third world countries that have been the victim of war, poverty, and disease." Dracula continued, before shaking hands with one of the scientists.
"And now, we are offering paid internships to high school graduates and college students who are ready to make a difference. If you believe you have what it takes to save lives, then come down to Raccoon City, Home of Umbrella, and let's see how we can help you help people." Dracula said, before stopping in front of his office doors.
"Well... That's actually quite nice." Annette said, surprised by the level of dedication this Dracula was showing.
Lisa smiled as she said, "Something to note for our home." A bright future that she and her husband could make.
"This is what I meant, Belmont. When I said that my father could have changed the world." Adrian said, looking at Trevor.
Trevor nodded, starting to understand what Adrian was talking about. "Then I guess the House of Belmont wouldn't mind helping the House of Tepes in making this future happen." Which surprised Richter and Julia.
Lisa smiled as she said towards Trevor "On behalf of my husband, we humbly accept."
That's when the screen began to glitch and become static before showing the news as a woman shouted. "These people are monsters! They're eating other people!"
Another channel changed to a News presenter. "We're receiving reports that the dead are returning to life and attacking the living."
There was a great shocked silence as Richter was the first to make any sort of structure of words. "Wha-What?"
Morana sighed, having a feeling something bad could happen. "And there it is…"
"The dead are returning to life? Not like Night Creatures type of dead?" Hector asked.
"And eating the living?" Trevor added with a shiver.
Lisa exclaimed out of shock and confusion, "What happened!? What's going on!?"
The screen turned off and was simply black. A few moments later, night approached, the moon was nowhere in sight, and the sounds of thunder were on approach. Down at a gas station, a man was putting gas in the tank of his Jeep. He was a young man, mid 20's with blonde hair that was parted slightly. He sighed as he looked around.
That's when he noticed a police vehicle with the door opened. He went over to the car, and inspected it. Before looking at the convenient store, before walking inside with a flashlight. He looked around, scanning the shelves before seeing a police officer sitting against a wall, pressing a hand to his bleeding neck. "Sir? Are you ok?" The young man asked. He groaned as he pointed to the door next to him.
Trevor looked at the scene before them as he said in a sarcastic manner. "Sure, sure go to where he points instead of, oh I don't know l, HELPING THE BLEEDING MAN!"
"I doubt that man has any medical experiences." Lenore commented sadly.
"We do not know if he does or not. But it's clear he wants the man to focus on what's behind the door." Isaac said.
"Sorry, I'm still trying to deal with what we just saw. Because I feel like we're skipping out on a serious detail here." Sypha said, putting her fingers to her head.
Trevor nodded as he said, "Either way, this man better be ready to defend himself from whatever ripped out that man's throat."
The young man went to the door and opened it to find a police officer restraining a man against a wall. "Sir? Do you need assistance?" The young man asked to which the officer looked back at him.
"Please stay back, sir." He said. Unfortunately this caused the man to turn around and tackle the man to the ground. "Hey! Get off him!" The man shouted, however, he was then silenced as the attacker bit into the officer's neck, blood spilled everywhere as he ripped a huge chunk out of the officer.
"What the fuck..." The man whispered before pulling his pistol out. The flashlight was trained on the attacker and it revealed grey and hollow eyes with rotten flesh.
Ricther was the first to comment on the, well it wasn't a man more a creature, as he asked with honest shock. "What… the fuck… is that?"
"It's a zombie..." Leon said, his eyes wide as he realized what it was.
"As in a reanimated corpse brought back to life to consume the flesh of the living?" Isaac asked, almost in monotone disbelief.
Hector nodded slightly, "Yes Isaac, yes that is a zombie."
"Great. That's just fucking great. The dead came back and I'm sure in some convoluted fashion. It's bloody Dracula's company that's at fault here." Trevor said with a groan.
This resulted in a slipper being thrown and hitting Trevor square on the head from a clearly upset Lisa "I dare you to say that again, Belmont. See what gets thrown next!"
"Apologize for that, Trevor." Sypha said with a snarl.
Trevor rubbed the back of his head before sighing. "Alright, alright. I'm sorry…"
Lisa huffed as she crossed her arms over her chest as Dracula couldn't help but chuckle at how protective his wife was.
"I have to know how this all went to shit." Carmilla commented with a sip of her wine and rub of her panther's head.
The young man pulled his pistol out and aimed at the zombie as it groaned and began to shamble towards him. "Stay back! I'm warning you, sir! I will shoot!" When the monster did not heed his warning, the man fired his weapon. He shot the zombie in the stomach which did nothing to it. It still groaned and shambled towards him, so the man aimed his pistol higher and shot it in the heart. This made the zombie stop for a second before shambling towards him.
"What the fuck..." The man was shocked how the thing was still going. So he aimed his gun at its head and fired. This time, the bullet went through its skull and spewed brain matter all over the floor. The zombie fell to the floor, dead for good.
"That was scary..." Lisa whispered, holding onto her husband.
Trevor couldn't help but shake his head as he said, "I'm sorry, but I would not hesitate to put down an undead. Recently turned or not, the faster you drop them, the better."
"It is better to put them out of their misery than to let them suffer such a soulless fate." Dracula agreed, wrapping his arms around his wife to give her some comfort.
The man ran up to the dead body and aimed at it, waiting to see if it'll get back up. After a minute of no movement, he sighed in relief and went to go to the door. Only to jump as another zombie pressed against the door, snarling and moaning at the last living man in the building.
"Gotta find a way out..." He said before going deeper into the room before finding a desk with a key. He grabbed it and found another door so he unlocked it and went through. He was back in the main store. He started to run through to escape the zombies that found themselves inside.
He made it to the door when a girl with brunette hair and a red leather jacket showed up. The man immediately aimed his pistol at her to which she raised her hands. "Don't shoot!"
"Get down!" He shouted at her. A zombie lunged toward her but was stopped by a bullet to the head. "Let's go!" He said, grabbing her hand and running to the police vehicle.
Morana jumped abit as she glared slightly at her wife who had a cheeky smirk, "Oh don't even, not a single word."
Striga just shrugged, "I know not what you mean, desert flower."
Trevor nodded, "Who almost got shot, maybe a 'get down' before raising the gun would have been nice."
Adrian with a small smirk added, "Maybe I'll do that if we happen to be in an undead infested town, Belmont."
"Funny. Very funny." Trevor said with a cross of his arms.
Sypha rolled her eyes. "Boys…"
Greta grinned, "But they're our boys." She teased which got some giggles from the two.
Leon couldn't help but look at Dracula as he said, "Reminds me of the time I thought you tried to stab me but instead you were aiming for that bandit who snuck up on me."
"Yes, well, it seems to happen to almost everyone these days, doesn't it?" Dracula asked out of amusement. Leon chuckled as he nodded looking back at the screen.
The young man pressed on the gas pedal to get away from the horde of zombies. The two took a deep breath in relief before the young lady looked at him. "Thank you..."
He nodded to her, "No problem."
"I'm Claire. Claire Redfield." She introduced herself.
"Leon Kennedy." He introduced himself as well.
The Belmonts slowly looked towards their ancestor of the same name and said man was stroking his chin slightly like a familiar warrior and mentor as he said, "Not a bad name. Boy has skill. I will give him that."
"We'll see how well that does him in this universe." Carmilla said, scratching Princess's head.
The Director couldn't help but chuckle at Leon's chin stroking as he said in a hushed British accent towards Willow. "Hello there." Willow couldn't help but giggle at her husband being funny.
Claire took a deep breath before looking behind. "What the hell was all of that? That wasn't like psychopaths or something..."
"I don't know, but hopefully there'll be some explanation when we get to Raccoon City." Leon said.
"You're heading there too?"
"Yeah, I was supposed to arrive last week but got called to stay away. After that, I couldn't stand by anymore and had to check it out for myself."
Claire looked at his outfit before asking, "You're a cop?"
"Yeah. First day." Leon said before a sudden flash of light blinded the two. Leon stopped the car, tires screeching and smoke filled the air.
Suddenly the doors were opened and the two were pulled by men in black military gear and gas masks which made them look... Scary.
"What have we got, Sarge?" One of the men asked.
"Two live ones! Check them for bites!" Another man ordered.
Leon looked toward the director as he asked, "I can only assume they are soldiers but what are they wearing?"
The Director answered, "That, my dear friend, is called MOPP gear which is a protective suit and mask. The mask is called a gas mask or respirator, meant to protect the wearing of everything which is nuclear, biological, and chemical or NBC for short."
"And how effective is it against disease and such?" Lisa asked.
Willow took over for her husband, "Very, unless it becomes compromised which is honestly the same with anything protective."
Richter couldn't help but chuckle, "Isn't that the truth."
"Ok, so what is causing these things to arrive caused by an airborne disease or virus?" Sypha asked.
The Director and Willow both said at the same time with a cheery smile. "Spoilers."
Sypha and several others groaned. "I hate it when they do that." Lenore said with a pinch to the bridge of her nose.
"What're you doing!? I'm a cop!" Leon shouted as he was restrained. His hands were cuffed, along with Claire. They two were then hoisted up and taken to an armored van.
Once put inside, the van began to drive back to... Somewhere. Inside the van, one of the soldiers looked at Leon and Claire before asking. "So... What brings you two all the way out here? Got a loved one out here?"
"I wanna know what the hell is going on! What is wrong with those people!?" Claire exclaimed.
The masked soldier took a pack of cigarettes out and pulled one out. "Want a smoke? It's gonna be quite a story."
The two didn't answer so he put it back in his pouch. "About a week ago, a virus escaped into the water supply and caused a lot of people to fall ill and die. Only to come back and start getting the munchies." The soldier explained.
"Zombies... You're talking about zombies..." Leon said, not believing what was being told to him.
Maria couldn't help but feel slightly ill, "Oh… My god, but how did… how did it get into the water?"
The director answered her question with a question. "How did the Black Plague sweep across all of Europe and most of Asia?"
"Rats..." Lisa said with realization.
"The virus infected the rats... And drank the water. Oh God..." Lenore said a hand over her mouth.
Dracula hypothesized further. "Not just drank the water but possibly swam in it, died in it."
Carmilla looked at Princess and with a smile, while rubbing her face, she said, "Oh your cousins are gonna be happy with their official job of my castle and future schools position as rat catchers." Princess purred and rubbed against Carmilla's face.
"What kind of virus could cause people to die, then come back and eat people..." Annette asked in a horrified expression. Dracula was silent, but he had his suspicions. Yet he was content with just watching and learning.
"Pretty much, kid. So what're your names?" The soldier asked.
Leon and Claire looked at each other before giving their names. Her last name in particular stood out to them. "Redfield? You wouldn't happen to be related to Chris Redfield?"
Claire looked at him in surprise. "You know him? Is he in Raccoon City?"
He shook his head, "Last I heard, he was in Europe for a classified mission." That's when he turned his attention to Leon. "You said you were a cop?"
Leon nodded, "Yeah."
"Well, hell of a first day, rookie. I'm Agent Hunk, and welcome to Raccoon City." The soldier said, introducing himself as the van drove towards a wall and checkpoint station.
Lenore couldn't help but ask, "What kind of bloody name is Hunk?" This got the Director to snort as he softly hit the arm of his chair, fighting not to make a comment on a particular Lenore he knew and observed for a time.
"We've heard some strange names before. That one has to rank up top." Trevor said with a snort.
The van stopped as the driver pulled out an ID and said that they got passengers. The barrier was lowered and the vehicle drove into the wall where a door opened up for them. It drove inside to a garage before the back doors opened up and the two newcomers were pulled out.
"Alright newbies. You'll be in quarantine for an hour max. Cooperate and this will all run smoothly." Hunk told them before walking away to another part of the garage.
A quick cut showed Leon and Claire getting hosed down with water to clean themselves before they found themselves on hospital beds being injected with a green liquid. "What is this stuff?" Leon asked.
A doctor cleaned up the wound before explaining, "You're being injected with a serum with immunization properties. It'll protect you against the virus."
"Ok... Then what next?" Leon asked.
"Now you'll be transferred to Headquarters to figure out what you'll do." The doctor replied before letting him go.
Lisa started taking notes, trying to keep a reminder to herself to find a means to potentially make a concoction that would be able to help people become immune to most viruses.
"But what will be done with those zombies outside the city?" Maria asked, worried that it could get worse.
Morana leaned her head side to side slightly thinking "well, if they do a good enough sweep then they should be able to contain the infection."
Trevor on the other hand couldn't help but crack a joke "Oh yeah sure, that's not ominous at all. Like if the half-breed's father over here wanted to make it vague as hell whether or not the Belmont family is going to be sent on an easy mission or a suicide mission."
Dracula looked at Trevor with a raise of his eyebrow. "Something you want to speak about, Belmont?"
Trevor looked at Dracula and with a small smirk said, "Just wanting to make it clear, I don't like being given vague details on a job is all."
Dracula kept his eye on Trevor before releasing a hum and paid attention to the screen once more.
Leon was given a new fresh pair of military clothing as that was all they had. Claire was given similar clothing, though she fought with the soldiers to let her keep her leather biker jacket.
The two climbed into a new military vehicle with Hunk with them before they drove out of the garage and finally into Raccoon City. The city itself was big, but there were fires all around the streets. Rubble from buildings and damaged roads were littered all around. However, the city seemed... Quiet. Almost too quiet, as if it was dead.
Leon and Claire looked around, horrified at what they were seeing. "What the hell happened here?" Leon asked.
"You'll find out once we get to HQ, just keep your eyes peeled." Hunk replied, keeping a tight grip on his rifle as he looked out through his gas mask.
The hummer drove through the main street, passing by craters and pits of fire. Leon and Claire watched the occasional zombie shamble and groan but for the most part, ignored them.
That's when they saw Umbrella Headquarters. A tall skyscraper with the Umbrella logo, a large thick wall surrounded the building and surrounding area. Searchlights pointed to the building and even to outside the wall. Serrated barbed fences covered the floor next to the wall, as if to trap the zombies while turrets were posted at each support beam. Suffice to say, it was an impenetrable fortress for the largest pharmaceutical company in America.
Julia couldn't help but be impressed as she said, "And in the storm, a light shall shine through the darkness as it shines to you wayward sailors, a safe harbor."
"It looks like it could defend better than the Bastille." Maria said in awe of the building and walls.
"I never thought I'd see such buildings being able to touch the sky..." Annette said in wonder.
"While I admit this is an impressive building, nothing will ever compare to Dracula's castle." Carmilla said while rubbing Princess's cheek.
Lisa nodded. "Indeed, however in such a situation, such a place is good to have to keep the hordes of the undead back." She was silent for a moment before looking towards the two forgemasters. "Make a note of what walls would be good to have around the castle and other areas that might need to be defended."
Both Isaac and Hector nodded as they both said in unison. "Yes, my lady."
Dracula couldn't help but smile at his wife taking charge and issuing good orders. Perhaps it was most certainly time for her to be officially crowned as his Queen.
"Woah..." Leon said, looking at the skyscraper in awe.
"Welcome to Umbrella, kid." Hunk said as they stopped at the gate where they were checked by the guards. After a few minutes, they were cleared and drove inside to another garage. The soldiers along with Leon and Claire climbed out and were escorted out of the garage. The vehicle itself would be hosed down and cleaned for decontamination purposes.
Hunk led the two into the main courtyard outside the building where tents and medical beds were scattered around with hundreds of scientists, soldiers, engineers, and civilians all around. "Jesus..." Claire said, holding a hand to her mouth.
"He ain't had anything to do with this." Hunk said as they made it to the entrance. Metal detector beeped in alarm when Hunk walked through it. "Ignore it."
The two passed through and followed Hunk to an elevator where they waited patiently. "How did you guys get all this done in just a week?" Leon asked.
Hunk looked over his shoulder and replied, "Been preparing for something like this for a while." That's when the doors opened, and the three stepped inside. Hunk pressed a button to the top floor which was about... The 60th floor.
Trevor and Leon both nodded at what Hunk said as Trevor's mind for a split second became that of his giant worm slaying counterpart. "Better to be prepared because once something happens, you'll be singing a different tune."
"Wise words, Great Grandfather." Julia said, agreeing with his words.
Leon and Trevor both nodded as they looked at the screen with Lisa slightly worried. "I can only hope that they either brave the storm or find a way to get those not infected out of the city."
The elevator doors opened and Hunk led them towards dark wood doors before opening them. Inside was a great long table with large windows on the left side of the room. There were three occupants in the room.
Two females and... Dracula himself. One of the women was Asian and wore a red dress and black pants and heels. The other woman was American with brown short hair, a blue strapless top, a white jacket wrapped around her waist, and brown boots.
"Boss, I've got two new live ones." Hunk announced.
"Thank you Agent Hunk. I will take them." Dracula said, nodding towards him.
Everyone looked at Dracula, more so the newcomers, as Ricther said, "Ok… That… He looks so calm even though the city, one could argue he owns, is being overrun with zombies."
"You cannot afford to break down in front of those you've been trusted to save and protect." Dracula said. "You must remain logical, and have all the information you can get."
The newcomers nodded slightly as Carmilla looked at the asian woman. "I must say my lord, you do keep some very exotic staff in many of these timelines." All while her panther Princess lounged on its back for belly rubs.
Dracula looked towards her with a raised eyebrow. "Are you trying to speak such hypocrisy to me, Carmilla? Especially the company you kept around as well?"
Carmilla shook her head, "Oh no my lord, nothing of the sort, I'm merely appreciating your tastes, is all."
"Hmm..." Dracula looked back to the screen, much to Lisa's amusement.
Hunk nodded and walked out, closing the doors behind Leon and Claire. The two looked at the people in the room before Dracula spoke. "It's good to see more living than the dead. What're your names?"
Leon went first. "Leon Kennedy."
"I'm Claire. Claire Redfield." She introduced herself, which shocked the lady in blue.
"Redfield? You're Chris's sister?" She walked closer to Claire.
"You know Chris?" Claire asked.
"We were part of the same task force. S.T.A.R.S. We were there when all of this began." Jill explained.
"Speaking of that, you mind telling us what the hell is going on and how all of this happened?" Leon asked, trying to get to the bottom of this.
Dracula nodded, "Of course. Please have a seat. We have much to discuss."
Lenore smiled, "Yes, some answers would be nice to have."
After everyone sat down, Dracula looked towards the woman in blue. "Miss Valentine. I believe you would be the best to explain the beginning of this whole week."
Jill nodded before looking at Leon and Claire. "Two months ago, there had been a series of mutilated bodies found near a mansion in the mountains. The Spencer Mansion. Bravo Team of Special Tactics And Rescue Squad was sent in. They failed to check in for about a day, so Alpha Team, which I was a part of, along with Chris Redfield, Barry Burton, and... Albert Wesker." Jill growled out that last name.
She took a deep breath before continuing. "Anyway, we were sent in to find Bravo Team, only to find... A mansion filled with zombies and mutated animals. Undead dogs, giant spiders and snakes. It's a fucking zoo filled with monsters. All that Umbrella was making." She finished with glaring at Dracula who looked down slightly.
Leon and Claire looked shocked before looking at Dracula. "Is that true? Were you the one who caused all of this?"
Dracula looked at them before answering. "I personally am not, but yes. My company was involved in illegal experimentation under my nose." Then he took a sigh, "But I take responsibility for it all. That is why I have been preparing for a potential incident like this. Shelters, supplies, weapons, everything. Spared no expense."
Leon nodded slightly and commented, "That explains the soldiers and special forces."
"Indeed. I created the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service with the intent of finding survivors and neutralizing the infected." Dracula said with a nod.
Lisa tapped her chin slightly as she leaned over towards her husband and asked, "Should we make a note of that? Or would that make us a little tad paranoid?"
"Hmm, one can never be too prepared. Especially when it comes to... Medical mishaps." Dracula responded. "A team trained in infections and viruses would certainly be beneficial in the long run."
Lisa with a notepad in hand was already writing as she asked Sypha, "Sypha, dear. How well versed are you in healing or medical spells?"
Sypha looked back towards her before rubbing the back of her neck. "My spells attend to the elements, unfortunately."
Lisa just nodded as she wrote something down while her husband nodded in agreement with what she had written.
"Ok, so what caused all of this?" Claire asked.
"A virus that either escaped or was deliberately released. The T-Virus seems to inhibit brain function to its most basic instinct. The need to feed, along with reanimating the body regardless of decomposition." Dracula explained in a scientific manner.
There was a sound of many pencils moving on paper while those not as smart, which was Striga with her fellow fighters, spoke up. "So they've been reduced to animals looking for food."
"And whatever is bitten by them, turns the person into more of those things." Leon Belmont said.
Trevor sighed as he rubbed his eyes. "A bloody plague that can keep going no matter what you do... Sounds worse than the Black Death."
"Yes, but luckily, it's being quarantined. For now." Morana said, worried that something worse could happen.
Julia looked at the screen then to Dracula before she voiced her own concern. "For how long? Even with an army that is clearly trained for such things they are fighting an enemy that doesn't need to sleep and can expand their numbers with every attack they do."
"Until one of two things happens. They kill every single infected person in the city, or... Destroy the city until there is nothing left." Dracula said, remembering what the Director had revealed to him about a world infected by the Cordyceps fungus.
That got a few shivers as Leon looked towards Dracula. "Knowing you, you'll do your damndest to kill the undead until none are left." Dracula wasn't so sure so he simply remained silent and looked on at the screen.
Leon and Claire looked at Dracula in shock. "So you made a virus that created zombies?"
Dracula fished out a file before tossing it across the table. "These men created it."
Leon and Claire looked and saw two pictures of two men. Both were blonde, though one had his hair slicked back and had sunglasses on. The other had a lab coat on.
"William Burkin and Albert Wesker. These two men are responsible for the creation of this whole nightmare." Dracula explained.
Carmila sighed, "I feel sorry for the person in charge of his internal security for they should have caught this before it became the problem we see now."
"They were too stealthy, and they did it out of sight from this building. Of course, they managed to get away with it." Dracula said with a growl, gripping his arm rest out of anger.
Lisa's hand snaked into his own as she whispered into his ear. "Calm my love, calm."
Dracula closed his eyes and took a deep breath and sighed. "Yes... Yes. Apologies."
Lisa smiled as she gently stroked his arm, "Do not lose yourself to the beast. Know that Carmilla shall make sure that none shall abuse our trust in our world."
"Yes. Of course." Dracula said with a release of a breath before paying attention to the screen. Carmilla heard Lisa from her seat, and she felt… obligated to follow through with Lisa's faith in her.
It became silent as Leon and Claire took in this information. Meanwhile, Jill was looking at Dracula with disdain. The other woman was looking at Leon before he spoke up. "So what now? What's the plan? Just kill every single zombie in this city?"
"That will take a long time, and I fear we may run out of supplies and ammunition before we manage to take them all out. Hence we are moving onto a different plan. Evacuation. " Dracula explained.
"So we're just abandoning the city?" Claire asked.
"We are going to look for a safe way out of the city. I have been attempting to keep all of this under wraps until I can either no longer keep this city contained or we somehow manage to save it."
Striga nodded in agreement with an alternative of her King. "A strong defense is good, very good. Remove those who can not fight away from danger. Your strategic brilliance knows no bounds, my Lord!" She declared the last bit towards her king with a smile. Dracula just chuckled and shook his head in amusement at Striga's praise.
Lisa chuckled as she leaned over to her husband and whispered, "She's like a loyal hound who is easy to please." A small smirk played on her lips.
"Indeed." Dracula whispered back.
"And what are we supposed to do while that happens? Just sit around?" Leon asked.
"No, I'm hoping you can help by looking for survivors. From what I have learned, you just recently became a police officer, yes?" Dracula asked while looking at him.
"Yeah." Leon nodded.
"Good, then I have an assignment for you. I recently lost contact with the Police Department. I'm sending you and several operatives to search for survivors and whatever else you can find." Dracula instructed, before looking at Jill. "Miss Valentine, would you be willing to lead this operation?"
Jill's disdain slowly ebbed away, and she nodded. "Alright."
Lisa's eyebrow slowly rose as she couldn't help but ask what everyone was probably thinking, "Ok, I understand a version of my husband's company caused the outbreak. Yet that was not his fault, it was the fault of those who betrayed his trust." She just huffed in annoyance.
"Darling, it's alright." Dracula said, holding her hand to keep her calm.
"Father will make it right. I know he will." Adrian said with confidence.
"Anger like that doesn't die down with just words alone. Unfortunately, I don't see this woman forgiving him for what's going down." Trevor commented before taking a sip of whiskey.
"And I am fine with that. She has made up her mind. If she believes my counterpart is to blame for this incident, then that is her choice. I can only hope he can do everything in his power to ensure everyone survives this nightmare." Dracula said.
Lisa looked at her husband, a little sad that he's willing to accept that even though it is not his fault, he will take the blame to placate a scorned woman.
Dracula stood up from the chair. "Miss Wong, you'll be accompanying the team." He spoke to the Asian woman in red who nodded.
"Understood, sir." She stood up as well, which prompted the rest to stand up.
"I will continue to find a safe way out of the city, and if you manage to discover something, report it to me immediately." Dracula ordered to which Ada nodded, while the rest didn't reply.
The four of them walked out of the room and to the elevator. Once inside, Ada pressed a button and the elevator began going down.
After a few minutes, the elevator stopped at the ground floor where Ada led the three of them across the entrance hall and downstairs before ending up in an armory.
Rails of walls supported every firearm and tactical military wear in the country. "Holy shit." Leon said with widened eyes.
"Get suited up, we leave within the hour." Ada ordered before grabbing a pistol and hip belt. The rest did the same, though Leon dawned an Umbrella Biohazard Containment suit before grabbing a pistol and assault rifle.
Claire looked at the firearms, it had been a while since she had held a firearm. But she got herself a pistol and a pump-action shotgun.
Adrian nodded as he used his knowledge from his wick self to analyze everything, "Good choices, one for range and one for close encounters with the undead. Yet the biggest concern has to be trying to get to the police station."
Trevor couldn't help but agree with the Son of Dracula, "You're right, guns or no guns, a city in total chaos will be Hell to travel just to get to a place meant to help people and if it's been breached, they are gonna be showing up to a fight."
"I'm sure those... Things they were in will get them there. They seem to be able to break through anything." Richter said, referring to the armored vehicles.
Striga spoke up, "Da, yet enough could flip them. Seen it enough times from armored carts to know that just because it is bigger and more armored does not mean it is safe from crowds."
Julia looked at Striga as she asked, "You know this from experience?"
This got some small laughter from the originals present as even Leon spoke up. "No, lass, just common sense."
The four of them walked out of the armory and back into the entrance plaza where a man with fluffy black hair and the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasures uniform waited for them.
"Good, you're here. I'm Carlos. I'll be with you on this mission." The man now known as Carlos introduced himself.
Jill seemed to know him, judging from a little light in her eyes. It seemed she was more comfortable with Carlos than she was with many of the other soldiers here.
Carlos and Leon shook hands before Claire joined in. "How're we getting to the Police Department?" She asked.
Carlos tilted his head to the outside. "I'll show you. Come on." Everyone walked outside and once more, shots of civilians laying down in beds, soldiers and doctors helping them, and engineers tuning up machines.
Dracula smiled slightly, "It seems the other me truly knows what needs to be done. Protection is one thing but if he doesn't give the people food, clean water, or even a source of comfort to help them during such a crisis then it would all be in vain."
Lisa adds to her husband's observation, "Indeed. It would be the same if we opened our home to those fleeing from a disaster."
This got Greta, Trevor, Sypha, and even Adrian to either hiss slightly or tug at the collars of their clothes slightly.
Dracula looked at them with an unimpressed look. "Indeed." He said, knowing what they did to his castle, and especially the mechanism needed to make it teleport.
Lisa looked at her husband before looking at the four as Trevor was now whistling innocently while Adrian seemed to be now focused on Greta and Sypha was just reading a book on management and administration work.
Lisa looked at them before asking, "What did you do to our home?"
"Let's move on, we can discuss it later." The Director said before pressing play.
Carlos and the team entered the garage and approached one of the black armored SUVs with the U.B.C.S. logo on the door. "Climb aboard." Carlos said before opening the driver's door and entered. Jill entered into the passenger side while Leon, Ada, and Clair sat in the back. The vehicle drove out of the garage and into the road towards the wall door which opened for the vehicle, therefore the van exited out of the safe zone and back into the wasteland of a city.
Leon looked out the window and frowned, seeing the undead shamble around. "This is not how I thought my first day would go..." He said.
Ada and Claire looked at him. Claire had a look of sympathy in her eyes while Ada had an expressionless look on her face. "Yeah? What did you think it'd go?" Carlos asked.
Leon sighed, "I don't know. Getting to know my teammates, going out on patrol."
Jill looked into the rearview mirror with a look of sympathy. "If it's any consideration, I was supposed to retire and skip town 4 days ago. Then this happened, and now I have no choice but to be stuck here."
"And I came here just to find my brother, who I'm told is not even in the same country." Claire sighed while putting a hand on her forehead.
Ricther whistled, "Well better then how our group got together honestly."
"Oh? And how did yours get together?" Lenore asked.
"Well I was stuck with this little blonde brat who was very much passionate about the Revolution." Richter explained, pointing his thumb at Maria.
"Edouard..." Annette's face crunched in sadness at the mention of her friend. "Edouard and I were going to France because of Erzebet and the vampire who enslaved me and killed my mother."
Maria nodded slightly, "And… Well, let's just say a lot happened."
Striga rested a comforting hand on the small blonde girl's shoulder as she said, "Do not worry. You all can give your tale when you are ready."
Maria looked at her in surprise, honestly shocked and a little hesitant due to the woman's vampirism and large stature. She looked down slightly, wrestling with conflicting thoughts before deciding to just pay attention to the screen. That was Striga's que to remove her hand from the little girl's shoulder.
Ada was silent as she did not feel the need to include herself into the conversation. The SUV continued to drive down the desolate streets, avoiding wrecked cars and plowing through some unfortunate zombies that were in the middle of the street.
This continued for several minutes until Carlos stopped the SUV which was in front of a concrete blockade. "Shit. Road's blocked." Carlos informed everyone.
"What's the next step then? Just get out and walk down to the station?" Leon asked.
Jill sighed, "We might just have to." She looked out the window to see that already their vehicle was starting to attract some zombies towards them.
"We better make a choice cuz we've got folks with the munchies coming." Claire looked at her window only for a rotten hand to slam against the window, making her jump back and scream.
Carlos started putting the vehicle in reverse only for a bright light to shine in their faces. "The fuck?" They all put a hand over their face to block out the light.
Hector decided to state the obvious, "Oh that can't be good."
The source of the light turned out to be a heavy duty truck. Inside the driver's seat, a heavy set man put a hand over his neck, his skin pale as blood poured down, staining his clothing. He wheezed as he began to pass out, turning the wheel to the right, causing the truck to tilt.
"Oh fuck! GET US OUT OF HERE!" Jill shouted. Carlos tried to back up, only for it to stall. He looked out towards the wheel, discovering a zombie stuck to the wheel, twisted in it, causing the vehicle to stop. "Fuck! I can't back up!"
"Out of the car!" Ada ordered, to which everyone immediately unbuckled and slammed their doors open, knocking the zombies off. They separated with Jill and Carlos in one group and Claire, Leon, and Ada in the other.
More than a few jumped as Ricther shouted, "holy shit!" Only to get smacked by his mother, "Language!"
The truck fell onto its side, causing sparks to fly and turning zombies into bloody paste. The truck finally crashed into the armored vehicle, causing an explosion. The two groups ran away fast enough to avoid the explosion, but now they were split due to the fiery wall.
Ada pulled a walkie talkie out and exclaimed, "Carlos! Carlos, come in! Do you copy!?"
A quick static cut in before Carlos' voice came in through the walkie, "I copy! Everyone alright?"
"We're fine. You?"
"We're good! We're gonna find a way around to the Police Station. We'll rendezvous there." Carlos ordered.
"Understood. Be careful." Ada said before pocketing her radio. That's when a loud roar cut through the fire, making the hair stand on the back of everyone's neck.
"What the fuck was that!?" Julia exclaimed.
While the humans heard a roar, the vampires heard a clear and simple word. STARS.
Annette started counting off on her fingers, "Separated from their group, surrounded by flesh eating undead, and little hope of possible success… So far I'd say their chances of survival have actually gone up honestly."
"I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or optimistic." Adrian commented, looking at the young woman.
"Knowing her, it could very much be one or the other, or possibly both." Richter replied.
The darker skinned woman chuckled as she added, "Little bit of both honestly."
"Well I believe they will make it." Leon said.
Dracula agreed with his brother-in-arms but still had a feel of concern in the back of his mind as his gaze laid upon the screen before them.
Ada cleared her throat, holding her pistol up. "We have to keep moving."
"Wait, what about the others?" Leon asked.
"They'll be fine. We need to focus on ourselves and getting to the station." Ada replied before continuing forward. Clair and Leon looked at each other and followed her.
For several minutes, they made their way through totaled cars riddled across the streets and several shambling zombies. That's when they found themselves face to face with the gate to the police department. The department was a huge building that was easily three to four stories tall.
"Holy shit, this is supposed to be the Police Department?" Claire asked before the three went through the gate and locked it, preventing the zombies from making their way inside.
"Are all police departments that tall or is this one just special?" Maria asked.
"This building was once an art museum that had been repurposed into the police station." The Director explained.
Maria was shocked and exclaimed, "I'm sorry, WHAT!? A place meant to preserve and teach history was turned into a place for law and order!?"
Ricther adopted a thinking face before he said towards the Director, "Let me guess, money right?"
"That tends to be the case at times." Willow answered sadly.
"Such a waste, surely they could've spent the money to make a new building and leave the museum as it was." Sypha said.
Morana, however, looked at the building and couldn't help but voice her thoughts. "You know, I could run one or at least have a school built like that, it's very elegant."
"A school would've been a better repurpose for a museum." Lisa commented.
The trio made their way inside, only to find it empty. Not a living soul in sight, and scattered beds and medical supplies. "Where is everybody?" Claire asked.
"That's what we're here to find out. But I don't like this." Ada kept her pistol in hand while looking around. Leon walked to the front desk counter and found a computer which showed a camera feed.
On the feed, a police officer ran up to the camera, holding a notebook in hand. "David! Marvin! I found a way out! East Hallway! Send reinforcements!" Behind him was a zombie which grabbed him. The officer managed to push him off before running away from the camera's vision.
"Hey, hey! I found a survivor." They're... In there." Leon called out to Ada and Claire, only to train his eyes on the closed metal door which had a sign that said KEEP OUT!
"Great." Ada sighed as all three looked at the closed off door.
Ricther couldn't help but chuckle, "Oh sure go open a door that says keep out, what could possibly go wrong?"
"Everything." Olrox said with a shake of his head.
"What now?" Claire asked.
"There's a survivor in there, we gotta get him out of there." Leon said, determined. Ada looked at him, unsure if he was brave or naive.
"You're not seriously suggesting you-" Claire looked at him before he interrupted her.
"Yeah. I am. I'll go in alone if I have to, but I'd feel a lot better about my chances if one of you came along." Leon looked at Claire and Ada.
Claire sighed and put a hand to her forehead. "Fuck... Fine. I'm going with you."
"I'll stay here and keep an eye on the monitors. Have your radios tuned so we stay in touch." Ada said, pulling out her radio.
Claire and Leon did the same and tuned to the same channel. "Be careful, Leon. You too, Claire."
Leon and Claire nodded before Leon pulled the lever which made the door open up slightly, immediately blood began to pour into the room. "Oh God..." Claire put a hand to her mouth.
Anette shook her head, "It's never a good sign to see so much blood in a room, I can only hope they find that survivor."
Sypha put a hand to her mouth, somehow finding the pool of blood making her a little squeamish. Trevor put an arm around her shoulder. "Easy there, love."
"They'll be safe. I believe they will be." Leon said, having faith.
Leon strapped his rifle to his shoulder and pulled out a flashlight before laying down on the bloody floor and crawled through. He shined the light to see the floor was coated in blood and water. The lights were off, leaving it nearly pitch black. It was silent which unsettled Leon. He crawled all the way through before whispering to Claire, "All clear."
Claire crawled through as well and had to stop herself from throwing up due to the amount of blood everywhere. She stood up before the two of them began to slowly make their way through the hallway. Posters, sticky notes, and file cabinets littered the walls and several doors were boarded up with wooden boards.
The two of them made their way to a pair of white wooden doors. They opened them up slowly to see nothing in sight. There was a large desk with microphones on it, and foldable chairs scattered, which led to the conclusion that this was a conference room.
Since there was nothing in it, the two left it alone and exited the room. A large metal cabinet blocked the hallway so Leon and Claire worked to put it back in place quietly. Once that was over they made their way through the narrow hallways until they saw several doors which led into offices.
One particular room had light, so Leon and Claire made their way to it, only to be started by a metal door being banged on. A voice shouted from the other side, "OPEN UP! HURRY GODDAMN IT! OPEN THIS GODDAMN DOOR!"
Leon and Claire ran inside before Leon grabbed the bottom of the door and tried to pry it open. The officer from the camera footage stuck his arm through the hole, holding a notebook. "Hang on, hang on! We've got you!" Leon exclaimed as he grabbed his arm.
Claire grabbed his other arm and started to pull him through. They heard growling from the other side of the door, until suddenly blood began to explode from his waist, the officer screaming in agony as Leon and Claire tried to pull him away.
With all of their strength, they ripped him away from the door, only to find that his lower half was missing. Organs, intestines and blood poured out of his body as the officer quickly bled to death. "Oh my God!" Claire cried out and stepped away from the body, putting a hand to her mouth.
Maria began to look a little green as she put a hand to her mouth to stop herself from throwing up. A bucket appeared in front of Maria to which she grabbed it and quickly began to vomit. Annette was no better as she tried to keep her lunch contained.
While the veteran cast were a little more used to the gore, it was still harrowing to see just how fast a zombie could tear a human apart.
"Monsters..." Sypha said with a hand over her mouth.
Trevor slowly raised a shaking single finger as he addressed his great grandchildren. "And THAT is why you don't go alone… ANYWAY in an undead infestation."
"Indeed. You can always be quickly surrounded by these unholy things. Best to go with one or two more people." Leon explained, his wisdom being valuable due to him being the first Belmont.
Ricther just nodded, still shocked at the grisly sight as his mother spoke up, "Y-yes grandfathers."
Leon was shaken as well, but quickly noticed the notebook next to the dead cop. He grabbed it before looking at Claire who was starting to turn pale and hyperventilate. Leon stood up and grabbed her by her shoulders. "Claire, Claire. We gotta go. Come on-"
A loud static came from Leon's radio before Ada's voice came through. "Leon? Claire? You need to get out of there! I'm seeing activity on the monitors! Get out of there, now!"
That's when banging was heard coming from the door that they came from. Claire began to focus as the need to survive began to overwrite her anxiety. Leon turned to door and pulled out his assault rifle while Claire pulled out her shotgun.
More bashing of the door happened before it was slammed open, a zombie in a police uniform came through. Claire pulled the trigger, spraying iron pellets all over the zombies' face. His head exploded into a flower of blood and rotten meat before it collapsed onto the floor. "Go, go!" Leon shouted as they ran out of the office and back into the hallway.
Glass exploded before a zombie climbed through the window. Several more zombies were seen coming into the hallway.
Greta just stared in shock as she exclaimed, "Getting to higher ground would be really good right about now!"
"Too narrow for them to get to high ground." Leon shook his head.
"Their only way back to safety is through them." Dracula said with a frown, having trouble seeing how they can get through with the undead surrounding them.
Leon and Claire looked in front and behind them before looking at each other. "Ready?" Leon asked her to which she nodded. "Ready."
Claire took the front by aiming her shotgun at the zombies that were shambling towards them. She fired a shell, the two zombies going down from the multiple pellets. Leon fired three rounds into the zombie that climbed through the window. "Let's go!" Claire shouted before the two started running down the hallway.
Several zombies tried to grab onto them, only to get bashed in the face by Claire's stock. They made their way back to the metal grate door. "Go go! I'll be right behind you!" Leon shouted, taking position behind Claire as she crawled back through the opening. "Ok, I'm through! Go, go!" Claire called out to him.
Leon saw the zombies coming towards him. Rather than waste the bullets, Leon tossed his rifle through and tried crawling through the opening. He made it to the other side until a zombie grabbed his leg. "Shit!" Leon cried out.
That's when someone grabbed his arm and pulled him away from the zombies' grip. The person then slammed the grate door down on the undead's head, crushing the skull and brains to bits.
Lenore released a breath she was holding as she started petting Snowy for comfort, "Whoever saved them did so in the nick of time."
Trevor couldn't help but chuckle, "Reminds me of when this fiery girl did the same for me when I was still a drunkard."
Sypha looked at him with a raise of her eyebrows and a playful smirk on her face. "You wouldn't be happening to talk about this fiery girl, would you?"
Trevor met her with his own smirk, "Have you seen any other lass with fiery hair who can produce fireballs here?" Sypha giggled and kissed his cheek, much to Adrian rolling his eyes, but had a smile on his face. Happy that they managed to find happiness.
The mysterious person was a man in a police uniform, the right side of his waist bleeding, his skin was dark, but was becoming pale with each minute. He looked at Claire, Ada, and Leon before introducing himself. "Marvin Branagh."
Leon was panting slightly, both from the fact he was almost eaten, and from the tight crawl space. "Leon Kennedy. There was another officer... I couldn't... W-we tried."
Marvin walked over to hold his hand out to Leon, who took it and was hauled to his feet. "You did what you could, Leon. You're here now, that's all that matters." Marvin groaned as he walked over to a couch and sat down.
Ada looked at Marvin, noticing that he was bitten, and held her pistol. "Marvin, what happened here?" Claire asked.
Marvin sighed, "Well... Guess we weren't as thorough as we should've been."
Leon looked at him in confusion. "What does that mean?"
Ada frowned, "It means someone was infected, and nobody picked up on it until it was too late."
Marvin looked down in shame and groaned in pain. "Yeah... We tried to find a way out, to get the survivors out, but... We were trapped, and now there's no one left alive. Except for you three."
Claire was shocked. "You serious!? There's no survivors here!?"
Ricther and his friends looked shocked as he exclaimed, "THAT CAN'T BE!? How!?."
Striga sighed as she said towards the youngest Belmont "I have seen such things in my time as a warrior, no matter how well defended a castle, fort, or even camp may be. There will always be a weakness to be exploited."
"Like the Bastille, an impenetrable prison..." Maria said, her voice filled with sadness. Annette gently wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
"Bastards... Every last one of them." Julia said, her fist slamming on her arm rest.
Lisa had a pen and pad as she began to write down something before ripping the paper off which she handed to a droid who took it towards Striga who read it before she nodded, "It shall be done when we return to our time, my Queen."
Dracula looked at his wife with a curious raise of his eyebrow, as did Morana. Lisa looked at her husband with a soft smile as she explained, "Just a few ideas for in case of plague outbreaks. Nothing to worry about, dear."
Dracula hummed and intertwined his fingers with hers before looking up at the screen.
Marvin shook his head, "This place is crawling with zombies, and I take it you guys came in through the front door and locked it behind you?"
Claire and Leon nodded. "Yeah, we were being chased, and had to stop them."
Leon pulled out a notebook. "The officer we tried to rescue was carrying this." Marvin took it and opened the book.
"Son of a bitch... Elliot was right." Marvin let out a little laugh.
"Right about what?" Ada asked.
He then went on to explain. "Elliot believed there was a secret tunnel hidden inside of this building. He thought it might lead to the parking lot which would be able to get you out."
"So how do we get out?" Leon asked.
Marvin pointed to a statue that held three circular spots at the base. "You see those spots? It needs... Three medallions. If Elliot is right, it should open up a secret passageway."
Ada, Claire, and Leon looked at each other. It was strange, but at this point, they'd take anything to get out of the building. "Ok Lieutenant. We're ready." Leon said, determined.
Marvin nodded before grabbing a knife that was sheathed, "Leon. You'll need this." Leon looked at the knife before grabbing it. Marvin grabbed his shoulder, "Don't make my mistake, rookie. You see those things, uniform or not, you take it out or you run. You got it?"
Leon was a little shaken but nodded. "We'll be back for you. We'll get you back to headquarters."
Marvin shouted, "NO!" Which spooked Claire and Leon. "I'm too far gone. And I am NOT gonna put those innocent lives in danger."
Leon shook his head, "Lieutenant, I can't just leave you here."
"I'm giving you an order, rookie! Save yourself!" Marvin ordered through gritted teeth. He then sat back down on the couch.
Trevor sighed as he rubbed his face, "Poor bastard. A brave man he is but… fuck."
"It is a terrible fate to have to be put down like a rabid dog." Greta said with a sad look.
Ada then spoke, "You were bitten... You're infected."
Marvin sighed in pain as he nodded. "Yeah..."
"Wait, what does that mean?" Claire asked.
"It means I'm fucked. I'll... Turn into those things."
"Lieutenant..." Leon started before Ada pulled out her pistol. "Ada, what're you doing!?"
Ada had a cold yet remorseful look on her face. "He's infected, he'll turn into those zombies, and possibly kill us. It's best to put him out of his misery now."
Leon stood in front of Ada. "No, we can't go around killing people. We have to hold out hope we can save people." It was a testament to his naivety.
Ada shook her head, "Move out of the way, Leon."
He shook his head, "No, I'm not moving."
"Leon." Marvin called to him to which Leon turned to look at him. "It's alright, Leon. I'd rather... Die than let myself turn into one of those things... Walking around without a soul."
Leon walked over to him, "Lieutenant, you can't give up hope!"
"I lost all hope the moment I let a man in a uniform bite me! I screwed up!" Marvin exclaimed before looking up at him. "Step aside, Kennedy... Let her do it." Leon became conflicted as he looked down. It seemed like the weight of the coming apocalypse was coming down on him. He knew in his heart that Marvin was right, but he didn't want to accept that people had to die in order for others to survive.
Ada raised her pistol until Leon grabbed the barrel. "No... I'll... I'll do it." Ada looked at him, before gently letting go of the pistol.
Leon therefore held the pistol, and aimed at Marvin's head. Marvin's breathing became slower as he looked at Leon. "You know, Rookie... We were all looking forward to meeting you. Make us proud, Leon... And get everyone out of this city... That's an order."
Leon took a deep breath and stilled his hand. Claire looked away and put a hand to her mouth. Leon closed his eyes and pulled the trigger.
BANG!
There was a powerful silence as Maria had tears rolling down her face. The several warriors in the audience raised whatever drinks they had in hand. Morana stood up and went over towards Maria and brought her into a comforting hug as she gently rubbed her back. "It's alright."
Maria hugged her, which was shocking to her as she didn't think in years, she'd be embracing a vampire. Richter wrapped an arm around Maria's shoulder, as did Annette. The poor young girl who had ideals of revolution, of bringing change to France, had to watch her mother be turned into a vampire, and now seeing the loss of hope in this one. It began to weigh down on the young girl.
Morana just softly stroked Maria's hair as she said in a soft voice. "It was the only way, I hate it as well but all we can do for those who are in pain and beyond saving is give them mercy." Maria just cried more as Morana nodded again and rocked her slightly. "I know, I know, just let it out. We will be with you."
Maria's cries lasted for a few more minutes until all that was left was choking breaths for air. Richter patted her back gently to get her to breathe. "It's alright, Maria. We've got you."
"Is... Is my mother going to be like that? Someone... Walking around without a soul?" Maria asked, thinking about her mother.
Morana's eyes held sympathy as she made Maria look up at her. "Maria, I know... You do not hold any love for our kind. You may despise us because of what we have done to your people. You have every right to hate us. I just want you to know... We want to be better, we want... We want to show the world that we can make the world a better place. That... That we do have a soul."
Maria after a moment asked, "How do you know you have a soul?"
Willow made her presence known as she laid a comforting hand on the young woman's shoulder. "Believe me child, they do."
Maria looked over to Willow before looking down. Morana gently removed herself from Maria, before walking back to Striga who gently held her hand before wrapping an arm around her wife.
Leon opened his eyes to look at his Lieutenant before averting his eyes away to Ada before handing her back her pistol. Tears were close to leaking from his eyes. He then steeled his eyes and spoke up. "We should get moving. Find a way out of this place."
Ada looked at him with a tinge of sympathy before she holstered her weapon. As for Claire, she took deep breaths to try and calm herself and focus on survival and escape.
"The hardest thing a man can do, is grant a brother's death to save them from a worse fate." Dracula said solemnly.
Leon added, "Many of us in the crusades had to do so, many still weigh upon my heart when I granted our battle brothers mercy who could not be saved."
Trevor, Richter, Lisa, Sypha, and Morana in particular listened to the Belmont with profound interest. Perhaps it was due to him being a link to ancient history. A way to learn how it was for them.
"For all my medicinal advancements and learning, there were still knights in our company we could not save." Dracula added.
Lisa looked at her husband with sympathy before placing a hand on his arm before resting her head on his shoulder. "We'll find a way. We'll give people hope."
Adrian smiled towards his family before looking towards the screen as he began to wonder what other horrors await these people attempting to wade the storm which is the infection that brings the dead back to life.
Leon equipped the knife to his outfit and looked at the notebook to find three statues with zodiac signs underneath the statues. "We need to find these statues. They have a key for how we'll get out of this." Leon explained.
"Where are these statues?" Claire asked, calming down from the situation.
Ada pointed to the far end of the main hall. "There's a statue over there."
"Is their way out of the building seriously going to be through fucking puzzles?" Trevor asked with a groan.
Greta just pinched the bridge of her nose as Ricther couldn't help but be vocal as well. "I'm sorry but I agree with my Ancestor. Are they really going to solve puzzles just to escape instead of… I don't know, find ANYWHERE ELSE AS A MEANS TO ESCAPE?!"
"Think about it, the building is starting to become surrounded by these undead creatures. They cannot go through the gates, and if that secret path leads them underneath, it is the only way they can escape." Isaac explained to them.
Morana chimed in, "Which makes sense, many tombs, castles, and manors have their own secret passages for such a reason. Yet to make it such an intricate puzzle instead of moving a simple book or candlestick is rather… what's the word?"
"Idiotic?" Lenore asked.
"Silly?" Sypha added.
Lisa added, "Over complicated?"
Carmilla petted her Princess who purred happily, "Egoistical?"
"...Yes?" Morana said, since all of those very much fit.
"It is certainly over complicated, but at the same time, this building was an art museum, before it became a police department. A museum is very much a place filled with secrets. They're lucky that they have the information they need to acquire the keys in order to escape." Dracula explained.
Hector nodded as he asked, "My lord, if it's not too forward, but would the castle be the same if one day you made part of it into such a building, or am I over thinking since you have told us that the castle also has such secret passages?"
"Hmm, possibly. However, I do intend to convert my castle into a school, so there may possibly be some secrets. But it all depends on how intelligent our students become." Dracula said.
Lisa couldn't help but giggle slightly, "Well let's make sure those passages are safe beforehand, but I think small rewards would be good for those who find a way into those passages." Laying a hand on her husband's arm. "But let's save those talks for when we have another meeting."
"I agree, my dear." Dracula patted her hand.
Leon, Claire and Ada go up to the second floor and find the Lion statue with a paw on a shield. Leon looked in the notebook before putting in the correct combination of zodiac signs. Before they knew it, the shield opened up to reveal one of the medallions. Leon grabbed it and took it out before making his way back towards a statue of a woman that held three holes at the base. Leon placed the medallion on the first hole and a piece of the base opened up.
"Son of a bitch." Ada said, impressed. "Not bad, rookie."
Leon looked at her, a brief smile on his face appeared before becoming serious once more. "Come on, let's try and find the other statues." Leon said before walking to a gated off entrance. A metal box near the gate had tape around it. Leon took out the knife and cut a line down, before opening the box. It was a lever to open the gate to the west side of the building. He pulled the lever down, and the gate lifted up. "This is not how I thought my first day would go..." Leon said to himself, but Ada and Claire heard him.
That got a snort out of Striga. "Da, my young keeper of the law, but then again none would expect an outbreak of undead to happen as well. Is the way life goes."
"Nothing about that says that's how life is supposed to go." Adrian said.
"Bad shit will always happen, it's a fact of life. It's what you do during that bad shit that will shape you." Trevor said in a rare case of wisdom.
Maria couldn't help but look at everyone present before looking back at her own friends as she said, "And I thought we had exciting lives."
Richter and Annette chuckled as they agreed with Maria. "Clearly we're not doing enough." Richter said.
Annette offered a suggestion, "Perhaps we should get involved with the gods. Maybe then, our lives will be as exciting as our ancestors."
"Careful, girl. The gods are known to not take kindly to mortals attempting to be involved with their business." Isaac said, warning Annette.
Willow nodded, "Take it from someone who has traveled many worlds, gods can be good, evil, or just out right jerks who think it's a 'laugh' to mess with mortals in exchange for their souls." At that last bit she spat in the opposite direction of everyone to show how much that left a bad taste in her mouth.
"Speaking from experience?" Leon asked.
Willow explained, "One universe I traveled to had the Greek Gods in the 21st century, laying with mortals, birthing Demigods, and then ignoring their children unless something happened to them or when a god needed something and were too lazy to get it themselves." She crossed her arms. "Half of them don't even deserve to be parents."
The Director smiled at his wife as he wrapped an arm around her protectively before asking with a smirk, "None tried to lay with you did they? Hmmmm?"
"Of course not. None of them are good enough or will ever be able to compare to you." Willow said, stroking his chin beard. The Director couldn't help but smile as he seemed to act like a cat in his wife's hands.
Richter, Maria, and Annette watched the couple with a slightly disgusted look. "Are they... Always like that?" Annette asked with a cringed look.
"That's nothing. Compared to my parents, they are rather tame." Adrian said, shuddering at some of the things Lisa and Dracula have said in the theater right in earshot of everyone.
Trevor leaned over towards his great grandson and whispered, "Once you find the gal that makes you happy, you'll understand. Take it from me kiddo." He winked with a playful shoulder bump.
"Uhh... Right." Richter responded, a small blush appearing on his face.
The trio walked into the reception room, ready to escape.
Back at Umbrella HQ, Dracula looked down through the window at the courtyard, seeing the people being treated, the UBCS soldiers keeping an eye on the undead creatures that shambled outside the walls.
Dracula held a glass of whiskey in his hand before a beep came from a computer at his desk. He turned around to look at it before walking to his desk and sat down. He pressed a button on his keyboard before the image of a young girl in red appeared on the screen.
"Mr. Tepes." The young girl said, her voice distorted and digitized.
"Red Queen. How may I help you?" Dracula asked as he took a sip of his whiskey.
"I wanted to inform you that Ms. Wong, Ms. Redfield, and Mr. Kennedy are trapped in the Police Department. And Ms. Valentine and Mr. Oliveira are being chased by Project Nemesis once more." The little girl, now known as Red Queen, reported.
Dracula growled and tightened the grip of his fist. "Damn, that abomination is still alive?" He asked.
"I detect it has mutated to adapt and to replace the injuries you inflicted upon it." The Red Queen explained.
Maria raised an eyebrow slightly, "Nemesis?"
Ricther followed up by pointing at the screen "who's the red girl? Why does she sound funny?"
Julia followed up by pointing out, "And why does Dracula seem rather upset about it?"
"We're in the same boat as you." Trevor said, confused by the words coming out of the girl's mouth.
"The girl is not real." The Director said.
"What? What does that mean?" Annette asked.
"She is an Artificial Intelligence. Similar to VEGA." Willow explained.
"Indeed. The Red Queen was an Intelligence system created by this Variant of Mr. Tepes himself as a means of studying and organizing all forms of scientific knowledge in Umbrella. However, lately the Red Queen was updated to spy and observe for Mr. Tepes, as his company was sabotaged from the inside." VEGA explained.
Carmila looked intrigued as she said, "Ingenious." Clearly being impressed with such a means that could be used against one's enemies.
Dracula, however, was not impressed as he softly slammed a balled up fist on the armrest of his seat "VEGA, will we ever learn of what truly caused this outbreak? The ones behind it all?" He asked with a voice leveled and controlled as possible.
The ball of blue light took a few moments to compile the information regarding the universe. "Unfortunately, the viewing is reaching its end and nowhere in it will reveal the source of the outbreak." VEGA replied.
Dracula simply had a frown on his face but he relaxed into the embrace of his wife which calmed him slightly.
Dracula sighed as he downed his whiskey before asking the Red Queen. "Has there been any communication from the government?"
"From what I've been able to detect, negative. However, I doubt it will last."
Dracula nodded before standing up and walking to a glass cabinet and poured some more whiskey. "Indeed. Hopefully, by the time they respond, I'll have the civilians escorted out of this Hell safely."
A brief alarm rang on his computer before Red Queen announced, "Sir, I detected a helicopter inbound, carrying unknown cargo."
Dracula looked towards his computer before marching towards it. "Can you get a read on it?"
"Unknown."
Dracula slammed his fist on his desk. "Get me the details, now." He growled.
After a few moments, Red Queen spoke up. "I discovered a secret file, Project X."
"What is that?" Dracula asked.
"A mutagen experiment. Similar to Project Nemesis, designed to hunt survivors of the Police Department. Someone is still using Umbrella property to annihilate the citizens."
"Any possible course of trajectory?"
"All possible projections indicate it is on its way towards the Raccoon City Police Department." Red Queen announced, much to Dracula's horror.
Ricther couldn't help but ask the obvious, "Why does he look like he just heard the worst news someone could get?"
"Because it obviously means more problems for him and more potential innocence getting killed." Sypha explained. Imaginations were running for the majority of the cast, as they were wondering what this Project X would look like. A monstrous animal much like the Night Creatures in their world? An alien-like creature or an undead monster that has plagued the city?
Back in the Police Department, Leon, Claire and Ada walked into an office, where a couple zombies stood in the room. After shooting them in the head, Leon walked around the desks, until he stopped at one specific desk. With a name on it.
Leon S. Kennedy
Claire and Ada noticed the name as well, before Leon looked up to see a banner. One that was filled with celebration that said:
Welcome, Leon!
Everyone looked at the banner, and a sad realization came to them, and especially for Leon. Everyone in the office was excited for him, especially Marvin. "Leon..." Claire began to say before she was interrupted.
"We should keep moving..." Leon said, walking away from the desk that would never be used.
Ricther hissed slightly, "That… That is just sad."
Lisa's heart clenched, which caused her to put a hand over her chest. "That poor boy..." A small tear leaked from her eye.
Dracula did not care much for humans, but even he could not help but feel pity for Leon.
Trevor gave a bitter chuckle as he leaned back in his seat. "Almost like if I took a job under tall, dark, and scary over there only to get to the place he sends me to be slaughtered by some fucking creature."
Adrian looked at Trevor with a raise of his eyebrow. "Just what are you trying to imply, Belmont?"
Trevor shrugged his shoulders as he interlocked his hands behind his head while leaning back slightly "Nothing really, just making an example is all."
Adrian narrowed his eyes at him before focusing his attention back to the screen. Greta gently held his hand.
Leon looked at the young man on the screen, and felt a sensation of phantom pain in his heart. As the slow but visible dead look in his eyes reminded Belmont of what had happened to him. How he felt betrayed by his brother in arms, and forced to kill his betrothed to create the Bane of all Vampires.
The whirring of a helicopter could be heard, drawing the attention of the three in the office. "Is that a helicopter?" Claire asked.
Ada walked towards a window and looked out, and indeed found a helicopter. However, it was carrying a box of large metal tubes. "What is that?"
Leon looked out the window with Ada and asked, "Is that supplies?"
Claire went to another window and peered out to get a good look. "We don't need supplies, we need to get the fuck out of here!" Claire exclaimed.
The helicopter flew overhead before a suddenly explosion and a rumbling made everyone stumble. "The hell was that!?" Leon held onto his desk to keep himself steady.
"Whatever that was, I don't want to be here to find out. Let's go!" Ada said before the three made their way out of the West Office.
Over in another part of the Police Department, dust covered the room with rubble falling from the ceiling. A hiss was heard before what sounded like a door opening. That's when loud and heavy footsteps could be heard, as a shadow stepped through the fog of dust. Out of the dust stepped a 7 foot tall man in a black trench coat, his face was grey with wrinkles around his cheeks and lips, and blank white eyes, and a black fedora sat on his head. He began to walk out of the room, marching with purpose.
Back with Leon, Ada, and Claire, they ran through a hallway, shooting down the occasional zombie. That's when suddenly, a wall was busted down, and out stepped the mysterious man in the black trench coat. It stared ahead at the three survivors and began marching towards them.
The survivors looked absolutely terrified, but they raised their weapons and aimed at the man, prepared to fire while their stance showed them ready to run at any moment. That's when the screen turned black. The fate for the three as well as the fate of Raccoon City was now unknown.
Ricther and his friends looked on with wide eyes before he said, "That… That is not good."
Trevor snorted, "That's obvious. They got a big whatever the hell that thing is to deal with now."
"That must be Project X." Sypha said with widened eyes.
"How the hell are they going to fight against that thing?" Maria exclaimed.
"They're better off running from that thing." Lenore suggested.
"If only I was there, I could take on that abomination myself." Striga said with a cross of her arms.
Morana sighed as she addressed her wife, "Much as I believe you could, even I know it would be a hard fight. One I would not want you to be in."
"My love, a warrior cannot improve unless they face an even stronger opponent." Striga retorted.
"While that is very much true, Striga. A warrior must always pick their battles wisely." Dracula commented.
Striga huffed as she looked at her King, "My lord, you think so little of me. I can beat that thing."
Lenore just looked towards Hector as she mumbled, "And lose a bloody arm in the process." Hector shrugged his shoulders and hummed in agreement.
"While that very much would be an interesting fight to watch, I believe we should take a break." The Director said, standing up from his chair and stretching a bit.
"I agree, I need to stretch my legs." Hector groaned as he stood up.
"Damn, it was starting to get good." Adrian said with a disappointed sigh. Greta patted his thigh, "Come on, love. I'm getting hungry." She stood up and stretched her body out, feeling a couple joints pop.
Dracula sighed and stood up along with Lisa, "What would you like to do, my love?" He asked her.
Before anything could be said, Striga stood up as she remembered something that happened a while back. "Oh now I remember what I forgot!" Now pointing at Willow, she declared, "YOU! I wish for a rematch to regain the honor I lost when you first showed up!"
Both Willow and her husband, the Director, seemed to pull out their respective forms of watches as Willow commented, "Huh, took longer than I expected, love."
Morana groaned and rubbed her eyes. "Striga..."
"Very well, Striga of Styria." Willow said, a smile on her face that held something a bit more sinister. "Shall we retreat to the training area?"
