Clawd Pov:
"Here it is. I'm starting my new life with my sisters at Monster High, a school my mother helped establish alongside Junior's father. It's not exactly what I envisioned for my future, especially since I believed I would live in the Skull Kingdom with Kali and her fellow Kongs. However, I'm grateful for the changes when Clawdeen and the others revealed the truth about what happened to Kali's father and brokered a truce between the new king of Kaiju and the former leader of the Kongs. Now, the question is, what will happen to Kali? I can handle life as an ordinary werewolf, but Kali has never experienced what it's like to be an ordinary ghoul. Hopefully, there will be something to distract her that doesn't involve fighting or throwing someone out the window, though that seems unlikely since everyone wants to see how tough the daughter of King Kong is."
Monster High-Gymnasium
It was an ordinary morning at Monster High, but one thing made it different: several Kaiju students were being tossed off the sparring mat by Kali Kong. She had been challenged by her new classmates to a wrestling match, and the ape ghoul was wearing her wrestling gear, relishing the challenges they presented. On the sidelines, Coach Igor watched as the new student stood her ground against her opponents as if they were punching bags.
"This what passes for monsters and Kaiju? You can't handle one ghoul? Ha! Go hit the showers."
Igor spoke out to Kali's fallen opponents as the boys said nothing but stood up and walked to the showers since it felt like they didn't stand a chance against the Kong. Watching them go to the showers, Kali smirked at her defeated classmates.
"I see you smiling there. Don't do it, it only makes the boys want to fight harder. Maybe even not hold back."
The coach warned the ape girl about not being prideful in front of the fallen which would make her opponents fight harder next time. It made Kali smirk at the idea of them fighting more recklessly since it was how she was raised back when her father was alive, a fight isn't worth anything unless it becomes serious. The hunchback nudges her to go climb the ropes with the ghouls since he'd need to clean up the training mat since it was covered in sweat and teeth. From the side near the workout equipment were Clawd and several of the boys who watched the display in front of them.
"Damn. And that's her holding back?"
Rhodey questioned Junior who was working on a set of sit-ups and watched the new student at Monster High take out around two monsters and Kaiju at the same time. Junior was with the boys lifting some weights who nodded at the pterosaur's question since he's been underneath her paws and knew how dangerous Kali could be.
"You were lucky that you didn't come with us. The kingdom itself was covered in skulls and bones of predators she took out by herself, made it easier for any apes to not try and take her throne."
He informed Rhodey that Kali was responsible for taking out half of the creatures from Hollow Earth. It scared the winged Kaiju since he couldn't image how many creatures Kali had slain when she was sent there along with the rest of her fellow Kongs.
"Just because Kali fights doesn't mean she enjoys it all the time. There was an activity she wanted to do but could never since Skar Kong kept her focused on running the kingdom."
Clawd responded to Junior's claim that Kali was more than a fighter. It captivated the boys about what the former leader of the Skull Kingdom enjoyed rather than taking the bones off her fallen enemies as they gave Clawd a look to see what it was. This made Clawdeen's old brother look away since it was a sensitive topic to discuss with others.
"Sorry buddy. But once you let out a secret, then you have to share it with everyone. That's one of the secret rules of hanging out with the boys."
Manny Taur informed Clawd about sharing a small secret from one another when he started hanging out with the boys. The werewolf sighed at that response since whether he liked it or not, they wouldn't stop until Clawd told them what Kali enjoyed besides fighting.
"Okay, I'll tell. Kali enjoys competition in almost anything, her main idea for it was racing. The Kongs always used anything they had in their possession to race, whether it was on all four or riding the predators across Hollow Earth."
He explained that the one thing Kali enjoyed that didn't involve her breaking bones was the thrill of racing. The sensation of moving faster than anyone and feeling the wind against her fur. However, there wasn't anything that involved racing since the sports at Monster High were ordinary and didn't show any interest to Kali.
"For real? Then she's going be thrilled when Skulltimate Racing comes back."
Heath spoke out doing chin-ups when he announced the sport returning to Monster High which caught the attention of the boys. Junior and Clawd looked at the imp monster if this was true since they wanted to know what he was talking about.
"You guys don't know? It was announced after the Fearleading team won the contest back on Skull Island. Headmistress Bloodgood and the other Kaiju thought it could bring in more students if they brought back the game."
Explaining that when the ghouls won the contest for Monster High, it was a sign to bring a sport that nobody had played for several years back in the hope of attracting more students to the school. While it would benefit the school in popularity, there was another detail that Heath wasn't telling them.
"And that instead of using rollerblades and skateboards they decided to take it to the next level. Which include vehicles?"
He added another part which made Junior and Clawd's eyes widen at what Heath said since this wasn't an afternoon school activity but another competition. Just as he said it, they heard an excited roar coming from the side was Kali who was talking with the ghouls about what was happening in Monster High. Specifically about the return of Skulltimate Racing that would start up. The female Kong looked over at Clawd as she rushed over and lifted him in the air who appeared excited about the announcement.
"Clawd. Did you hear? They going to have a racing competition! And I heard that the Headmistress will be explaining it at the Clawditorium. This makes my stay here all the worthwhile!"
Kali shouted in excitement while shaking the werewolf around as if he weighed nothing in her arms. The others watched at the sight thinking they'd make a good couple since they'd spent a lot of time together back in the Skull Kingdom, it resulted in Kali placing the werewolf down and growling at them since she wasn't a ghoul that gets excited too easy like the others at Monster High.
"You seem excited."
Junior responded to the mood that Kali was which made the Kong smirk toward the lizard despite them mending their blood feud when they uncovered the truth about Kali's father. It didn't make things easier since she still viewed the lizard as a challenge and wanted to prove who was strongest in the school.
"And you should be concerned. Because this can make the Kaiju that want your throne challenge you, it'll prevent anyone from losing teeth and a few broken ribs. Plus, I know about this 'courtship' you have with the ghouls. They'll challenge three to the race if you won't."
Informing the lizard about this being the perfect opportunity to be challenged to something that didn't involve fists. Her response made his eyes glow in a hostile manner of anyone trying to harm any of the ghouls if it meant them becoming new leaders of the Kaiju. While everyone watched the king's protective side, Kali showed no fear but curiosity since she wanted to know how far he'd go in protecting them. The standoff between the two was interrupted by a whistle coming from Coach Igor.
"Hey! No rumbling without a wrestling ring to do it in. Besides, it's time for the announcement that everyone is talking about."
The hunchback stopped the two from turning his gym into a fight since Igor could tell what the outcome would lead to from the stare-down they were giving each other. With that being said, everyone decided to leave the gym, Junior followed along with the boys since this was big news for Monster High.
"You sure know how to bring out the monster in people."
Rhodey commented on Junior's approach when Kali informed him about the ghouls being challenged to the race as it made the lizard silent since the three were in different classes at the moment. Just as they reached the hallways, Junior stood outside of the Clawditorium waiting to see if he saw Clawdeen, Draculaura, or Frankie stopping by and hearing about the news. Hearing footsteps coming over to the door, the lizard saw Clawdeen and Frankie walking over with no signs of Draculaura around.
"Before you say anything. No one has tempted to challenge us and we haven't seen Draculaura after Skullinary Arts. Her dad wanted to visit her in private."
Clawdeen informs the concerned lizard about what is happening since it seems that the two knew about the revival of Skulltimate Racing. Seeing how they were the last ones not in the Clawditorium, they walked in to find their seats as they saw Headmistress Bloodgood along with Veran making their way to the stage to make the announcement.
"Good morning everyone. While it is a bit early for big announcements and out of the blue to take you all out of your classes, this issue had to be shared with the whole school since the rumor has been flying around like a ghost."
Bloodgood informed her students about what was happening since the sport was being changed drastically from skateboarding and rollerblades to functioning vehicles. Everyone remained quiet as Varan walked over to grab a torch and lit a fire near the white crystal behind them which showed the past of Skulltimate Racing.
"In the past, Skulltimate racing has always required wheels and skill. But with the recent changes going on and everyone wanting bigger and more exciting activities happening at Monster High. I and a handful of the Kaiju community have decided to bring back what we now call 'Extreme Skulltimate Racing'."
Explaining how there had been discussions about bringing back the sport in a way that would bring in monsters and Kaiju together. Bloodgood and Varan changed the image on the white crystal from the traditional game of Skulltimate Racing to the new version that would allow anyone to participate. The image displayed to everyone was a custom-made kart with four seats and a design to survive the terrains of wherever they would start the race.
"Knowing how skilled all of you are in fashion and making anything with your hands, claws, and tentacles. Will have the chance to race for the school to promote Monster High as a school for all creatures from farthest corners across the world since our reputation started to act up."
Varan added that this was a way to bring in new students since there were several that had left for different schools since Monster High had started a reputation for having an 'incident' once a year. Racing could bring in new students and make the school appear as the same welcoming institution as in the past. Junior and his friends whistled innocently since they were responsible for most of the incidents that occurred at Monster High.
"Tomorrow afternoon, will be judging which kart will be used for the race which will rely on teamwork and creativity. Until then, enjoy the rest of your day."
Headmistress Bloodgood finishes the announcement and allows the students to leave the Clawditorium with each of the stories questioning about the sport being changed. More or less, it would make things exciting with the addition of becoming dangerous since they would drive vehicles.
"I don't know about you lot. But I'm getting excited about this, it's time for Titan to shine for all aquatic creatures."
The finned Kaiju spoke out since he'd work on a kart that would be participating in the race as whoever won the race would represent Monster High and get all the attention at the same time. Hearing a buzzing coming from their phones that was alerting them about being revived, it was being shared on the Ghostly Gossip that anyone could work on the kart construction in the catacombs tomorrow. It would be overlooked by Monster High's newest student who was an expert in working on mechanical vehicles, Gia Gremlin.
"Not wanting to sound that obvious. But do you think that Draculaura got the news early from anyone since her father oversees most of the events happening at Monster High and told her ahead of everyone?"
Frankie suggested that their vampire ghoulfriend had already started working on her vehicle for Ultimate Skulltimate Racing before anyone had a chance to work on theirs. Junior and Clawdeen didn't respond to Frankie's suggestion and decided to see if it was true since it would be the reason why she didn't attend the announcement.
Later-Catacombs
Underneath Monster High was considered a means of getting to class early or learning about the hidden caverns that hold memories from the past. Within one of them was an area where the karts would be made by the students. Overseeing the construction was Gia Gremlin, a former employee at Monster International Airport and now a student at Monster High was offered the position of making the karts for the race that would be held in the labyrinth. She was at the moment assisting a ghoul with her vehicle before anyone had the chance.
"My parents told me before coming to Monster High was 'Gia! If you're going to find a hobby that's going to keep you distracted, make sure it's in the family business. So considered it pure luck that Headmistress Bloodgood offered me the position of head mechanic for Extreme Skulltimate Racing."
The gremlin ghoul spoke out in excitement as she walked over to a black and pink roadster car with a heart emblem on the hood. Looking around to see if she could see the driver of the vehicle, Gia heard the sound of wings flapping above her as it came from a bat that changed into Draculaura who brought a set of history books about racing.
"Really? Because from what I remembered, you pleaded to my dad about wanting to work on my kart after learning about him bringing the sport back."
She responded to Gia about how the gremlin learned that it wasn't Headmistress Bloodgood who wanted to bring the sport back but Dracula. At that instant, she begged the lord of vampires to assist in working on Draculaura's car in the hopes that Gia knew something no other monster knew about him.
"Okay. So what? After he decided to stop being a terror to humans and leader to the vampire community, your dad hosted Skulltimate Racing back in Transylvania. My parents would talk about it more than their days when they'd invade human plans in the late eighties."
Gia told Draculaura that it was a once in an afterlife to assist the daughter of Dracula to win a race with her mechanic skills and would do anything to get the position. Draculaura said nothing as she decided to check out the rear windows to make sure they were clean, only to not see her reflection but her ghouls and Junior looking at her with a questionable look on all of their faces. Feeling surprised at them being here, she turns around to try and attempt to look unsuspicious.
"First things first. Where did you get the car?"
Clawdeen asked about where Draculaura got the car since she couldn't sneak it onto Monster High grounds without anyone noticing since half of the students enjoyed eating metal.
"Last month for my birthday. Just after we went to my father's mansion in the mountains to celebrate it, my dad brought me back and showed me this. His roadster, he had it designed for me to take you all out on the road if we wanted to travel. And for this moment since it was built to tear up the road."
Explaining how she obtained the car and that it was both for enjoying small trips and racing. Frankie being the first to check out the roadster, they decided to look underneath the hood to check up on the car's engine which took Frankie's breath away.
"This is the brand new Transylvanian titanium engine, it could make any car into a road monster."
Responding to the engine since it was difficult to obtain due to how many were made. Draculaura laughed nervously since one of the things that she tried to hide from them was how rich her father was and to buy her anything to help her make an infamous vampire like he was. Clawdeen and Junior wanted to check the car as it looked like any other ordinary vehicle, only for Junior to notice a set of buttons on the passenger's seat.
"What's with the buttons? It activates some fancy gadgets like those movies Clawdeen shows us?"
The lizard Kaiju asks in a humorous tone since they have a unique symbol, Junior presses one with a bat symbol on it which causes the roadster to fire a set of bat-shaped projectiles that fly into the walls. He along with Frankie and Clawdeen was shocked at the sight and how sharp they were to stick into the wall.
"I thought this was supposed to be a friendly race. Not some demolition derby."
Clawdeen remarked on the projectile weaponry that was within the roadster as the hybrid werewolf looked over at Draculaura and Gia to see if they knew about the revived sport. Before the ghouls had the chance to explain why it had a set of gadgets within the vehicle, her question was interrupted by Junior's scales lighting up as if there was someone else in the catacombs with them and watching from the shadows.
"This might be a bad time to say that there was someone else who wanted to work on his car. In exchange, he doesn't electrocute me and ruin my hair."
Gia spoke out about her knowing the person in the catacombs as they saw behind a column was none other than Ghidorah. The three-headed extraterrestrial dragon who had been working on a kart of his own which was a combination of a dragon and werecat design.
"Demolition Derby? No. In addition to the new king of Kaiju being here, the other schools are interested in how Monster High will manage his new sibling and the ghouls with whom he has chosen to share his power. Instead of racing to win, Draculaura is racing to how strong you all are."
Ghidorah explained why the vampire's car was modified to protect itself from attackers when she was in the race. The group said nothing as they watched the three-headed dragon take his custom-made kart out of the catacombs since it appeared the one who'd be driving was Toralei. Looking over to Draculaura to see if he was telling the truth, the vampire witch said nothing but resumed checking up on her roadster for the race.
"Headmistress Bloodgood never said the drivers could have partners. And from how the kart that Ghidorah had made for himself and Toralei, I think your going need a copilot."
Clawdeen suggested as she offered to help Draculaura out and wanted the position of copilot when they entered the race. Feeling surprised at how quickly the werewolf wanted to assist her, she looked over at Junior and Frankie who were curious about their response to them participating.
"What? Like there's anything to say to not convince you to not stop from entering. Besides, Frankie told me about getting a set of new hands and a new set of skills that could help us out. Mechanic technician."
Junior spoke out about how if there were going to be creatures that would want to challenge them in the race. They would need an edge against it, it also helped that Frankie was talking to Gia about what components were available for them to use. Draculaura said nothing but smiled at how they would participate despite the danger they would be getting into; it was one of the reasons why they started dating each other. Deciding to aid Draculaura on her roadster, they could hope that the other racers they'd meet wouldn't be participating for Junior's crown and the others having his power and that it would be for the fun of the sport. Either way, they would need to make two cars for the four of them if they were going together to win Extreme Skulltimate Racing.
