Chapter 69

Witch of the Wind

TAP. TAP. TAP.

Click. Click.

Those were the noises of the keyboard clicking and fingers tapping on the mouse. They were the researchers at the SOL Tech. They were developing code for a special AI chip for an unknown reason that we didn't know until in the future.

"Eureka! The code is completed!" One of the researchers exclaimed as everyone clapped their hands for their accomplishment.

Suddenly, the alarm went off, making the researcher team looked around.

"What's going on?" One of them asked.

One of them checked the monitor and noticed something strange. "Sir, the code… Our system is being hacked and the code is being downloaded!"

"What?! Then stop it!" All the researchers looked at their monitor, doing whatever they can to stop the data from downloading by the hacker.

Inside the server's VR space, four SOL Tech's guard bots appeared and detected the cause of the hacking.

"Halt! Surrender or be terminated!" One of the guard bots stated.

"Sorry, love, but I can't do that. Though, I will be on my way," the hacker replied as she pointed her hand up.

Suddenly, a strong wind summoned out of nowhere, blowing the guard bots away. Once the wind died out, the mysterious hacker disappeared and nowhere in sight.

- Codes of Secrets –

"Deck Set! Into the VRAINS!" Yu and Rossy logged into the Link VRAINS, leaving Tom alone for the time being.

"Well, I guess I have a little bit of free time. Might as well for me to take a break, too," Tom decided until he was interrupted by a call.

"Hello?" He picked up the call, revealing to be Fate Kid. He fixed his breath and said, "Fate Kid, what's wrong, lad?"

"Cyber Man, we have a job calling in from SOL Tech!" Fate Kid exclaimed.

"OK. I will be there momentarily!" Tom replied in his Cyber Man voice. He ended the call and sighed. "Well, there goes my break."

He put on his duel disk and deck and stepped into his log-in room. "Deck set! Into the VRAINS!" he shouted as entered the Link VRAINS, transforming himself into his VR avatar.

Cyber Man entered Link VRAINS, jumping onto his D-Board. He soon found Fate Kid on a lone island and quickly landed.

"Cyber Man, you're here," Fate Kid said.

"What's the report from SOL Tech about, Fate Kid?" Cyber Man asked.

"Not quite sure. I just arrived here, too. It sounded like serious," Fate Kid answered.

"It is very serious…" They turned their attention when a holographic version of Akira Zaizen appeared in front of them.

"Mister Zaizen, what a surprise!" Cyber Man gasped.

"Sorry to surprise you both. I am communicating through a hologram. I am calling from my office," Akira explained.

"What's the job, boss?" Fate Kid asked.

"I see you look eager," Akira grinned a little but turned back to a more serious look. "Your mission is to find a thief. For you see…"

Next to him showed a holographic screen that showed a footage playing of a mysterious female hacker summoning a wind to escape. "Just last night, a thief hacked into our company's private server and stole an important code. I want you both to retrieve it back for us."

"I see. Do you know anything about this hacker's identity?" Cyber Man asked.

"Good question and we do. Though we don't know the avatar's name but according to our sources, the hacker is revealed to be the 'Witch of the Wind'," Akira revealed.

"Witch of the Wind!" Fate Kid said in surprise.

"You know of her?" Cyber Man questioned.

"No, but I heard about her!" he answered. "She is a mysterious thief who uses the power of the wind and can use it at her own will. She has appeared on social media, and web news lately."

"Exactly," Akira noted. "She's been notorious for quite some time since the opening of New Link VRAINS, stealing coin and money from cyber banks everywhere, but this is the first time to attack a corporate organization, and it is unfortunate to say that we at SOL Tech fell victim to her scheme."

"Well, she won't get away with this! We will help you and catch the Witch of the Wind!" Cyber Man declared.

"Thank you, Cyber Man. I like to give these." Suddenly, both Fate Kid and Cyber Man's duel disks downloaded something. "This is the location for our bases in Link VRAINS. We suspect that one of these bases will be her next targets. This will help you to trap her."

"Thank you, Mister Zaizen. We will not fail you," Cyber Man stated. Akira Zaizen gave his thanks to them before he disappeared.

"According to Mr. Zaizen's data, there are two bases," Fate Kid said.

"And there are two of us," Cyber Man noted. "We will host a stakeout for her. Fate Kid, you take one base here at the west while I wait at the east base. If one of us sees her, we will call each other and stop her."

"OK, Cyber Man!" Fate Kid agreed.

Later that day, Cyber Man and Fate Kid waited at their position. "Any sign of the Witch, Fate Kid?" Cyber Man asked.

"No sir. It is clear here. I don't see her yet," Fate Kid responded.

"Keep an eye carefully, Fate Kid. For one brief moment that you're not looking, she may come," Cyber Man advised.

"Yes sir. Fate Kid out for now," Fate Kid said, ending the call.

Suddenly, when Cyber Man looked back at the base, his sensor detected something. "Ah-ha! She's here!" Cyber Man exclaimed.

The witch began hacking into the base when Cyber Man appeared behind her.

"Stop right there, thief!" Cyber Man shouted.

The hacker turned around. Her avatar's look was a purple catsuit, which revealed her chest and legs a bit with black wind patterns, dark purple witch hat, and black eye mask with purple patterns. Her hair was long and purple with pink tips and light-blue eyes.

"Oh? You don't look like an SOL Tech's bot unless you are a much-advanced version of it," she teased.

"I am well and alive human, miss, but despite the point, I am here to stop you in the name of justice!" Cyber Man stated.

"Stop little ol' me?" She chuckled. "I like to see you if you try!"

Suddenly, a gust of wind appeared out of nowhere, causing Cyber Man to wince and covered his face for protection.

"Fate Kid is right! She can summon a wind at her will!" He exclaimed.

"Bonjour," the witch said as she rode off on a D-Board that was shaped of a broomstick and she rode on it as a witch would do.

Cyber Man chased after her on his D-Board. "Fate Kid!" He called. "I am in pursuit of the Witch!"

"Really?! Then I will be on my way to help you!" Fate Kid responded.

"OK. I will continue my pursue on her," Cyber Man said before he ended the call.

Cyber Man turned up the speed of his D-Board, flying closer and closer to her. Witch of the Wind noticed him.

"Go away!" She summoned another wind at him, but this time, it didn't affect him.

"Huh? How is that possible? Nobody can resist my wind like that!" She gasped.

"It's a special program, courtesy of the SOL Tech," Cyber Man noted.

Witch smiled slyly. "Hmmm… I see. You perk my interest, noble hero. What's your name?"

"Cyber Man," he answered back.

"Cyber Man… Ah, I heard about you. You're that corny superhero who protects Link VRAINS and all," she said. "Though, a strong duelist nonetheless."

"Some people may refer to me as corny, but they're right that I am a strong duelist," Cyber Man said. "Now, hand me the code that you've stolen!"

"Hmmm…." Witch thought to herself before she came up with an idea. "Oh, I know! How about a duel?"

"A duel? You're asking me to duel you first?" He asked.

"Yup! Since you are the first one to ever protect against my wind power, then the only way to settle this is a duel. If you win, I give you the code back, but if I win, you let me go. Deal?"

Cyber Man thought about it. At first, he thought this was some kind of trap, but she sounded genuine in her words, so he decided to accept the offer.

"I accept your proposition, Witch of the Wind!" Cyber Man agreed.

"Cool! And by the way, my name is Mistral. Witch of the Wind is just what people on the Internet and Link VRAINS call me," Mistral explained.

Suddenly, Mistral stood up on her flying mechanical broomstick and jumped up into the air, which surprised Cyber Man. Her broomstick transformed into a proper D-Board, which was purple, white, and green with a yellow wind pattern for design. She landed on the D-Board, speeding up a bit.

Cyber Man responded and they flew neck to neck each other, starting their duel.

"SPEED DUEL!"

Cyber Man vs. Mistral

Cyber Man (4h): 4000 LP

Mistral (4h): 4000 LP

"Lady goes first!" She announced. "I summon Windwitch – Glass Bell."

A magical girl that looked like a witch with green hair appeared, riding on her blue broomstick with a yellow bell at the end.

"I activate Glass Bell's effect!" She declared. "If she is Normal or Special Summoned, I can add another Windwitch monster from my Deck to my hand. Also, I cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except WIND monsters and I can only use this effect once per turn."

'Windwitch… I can see why people call her the Witch of the Wind,' Cyber Man thought.

"I set a card and end my turn," she said.

Mistral (3h): 4000 LP

"Very well," Cyber Man responded. "I draw! First, I summon Cipher HERO Speedstar!"

A cybernetic superhero that looked like the Flash ran out of the portal as he appeared on the field.

"I set two cards, and I declare to attack! Cipher HERO Speedstar attacks your Windwitch – Glass Bell!" The speedster superhero jumped ran forwards. "At this point, I activate my hero's effect! He gains 500 ATK until the end of the Battle Phase and if his original ATK is changed at all, I can draw a card."

Cyber Man (4 + 1 – 1 - 2 + 1= 3h)

Speedstar ran zippy fast as his fist was charged with electricity. His punch was going to hit Glass Bell's face until suddenly, a barrier of wind blocked the punch, and that same wind hit over Cyber Man, damaging him.

"Grrrrrrr! What's this?!" He winced.

Cyber Man (3h): 4000 – 400 = 3600 LP

"Tee-hee! You fell into my trap!" Mistral said. "I activated my Trap Card, Windwitch Spring Breeze!"

The Trap showed Windwitch – Glass Bell and Ice Bell sleeping on the grassy hill with the spring breeze flowing through and colorful leaves flying.

"When my opponent's monster declares an attack on my Windwitch monster, that attack is negated and you take 400 damage," she explained.

"This is just a little breeze, that's all. I end my turn," he said.

Cyber Man (3h): 3600 LP

"Hmmm… So it didn't bother you," Mistral puffed her cheek, but sighed and smiled. "Well, don't worry. The fun has just begun!"

'I don't like the sound of that,' Cyber Man thought as he watched carefully.

"My turn, I draw!" Mistral drew her next card from her Deck.

Mistral (4h): 4000 LP

"I Normal Summon Windwitch – Ice Bell." Next to Glass Bell, another magical girl appeared. This one had a light blue and dark blue hair and like Glass Bell, this one also rode on a broomstick with a bell. "Windwitch – Ice Bell's effect activates! If she is Normal or Special Summoned, I can inflict 500 points of damage to your Life Points." Ice Bell waved her wand, blowing a chilly wind at Cyber Man. He gritted his teeth in response.

Cyber Man (3h): 3600 – 500 = 3100 LP

"I set a card and now, the time is ready," Mistral smiled.

"Time? What does she mean by that? Could it be?!" Cyber Man realized it. "Are you going to Link Summon?"

"Boop-boop! No way!" Mistral replied. "Let me show something. I tune my Level 3 Windwitch – Glass Bell with Level 4 Windiwitch – Ice Bell!"

A powerful gust of wind was summoned out of nowhere. The two witches turned into two rings, one green and one light blue, before turning blue and merging. The rings transformed together to form a stacked tower of 7 rings and single light beamed through those rings as two numbers were displayed; 3 and 4 before the numbers added to 7.

"When its icy wind of the arctic north flows, all shall freeze to witness its cold beauty! Synchro Summon! Rise, Level 7! Windwitch – Arctic Bell!" A light blue and white bell with a figure that has a feminine appearance on the top was summoned in the Extra Monster Zone. Its head was a sharp one that split in a Y-shape. The hands and arms were wings instead and the bottom half of the bell was akin to the same kind of body like Windwitch – Winter Bell. It flew right beside Mistral.

Windwitch – Arctic Bell-Level 7, WIND, Spellcaster/Synchro/Effect, 2400 ATK, 2000 DEF.

"A Synchro Summon?!" Cyber Man was surprised.

"That's right," she said. "I activate Windwitch – Arctic Bell's effect! Once per turn, I can target one of the materials I used to summon this card to inflict damage to you equal to that target monster's Level times 200. I target Windwitch – Ice Bell in my graveyard, so you take 800 points of damage! Arctic Chills!"

Arctic Bell turned around and faced towards Cyber Man. Suddenly, it blew out a powerful cold wind that could feel the air itself freezing. Cyber Man covered himself with his cape, but he could still feel the icy cold winds chilling down his Life Points.

"Brrrrrrrrr! It's too cold!" Cyber Man shivered.

Cyber Man (3h): 3100 – 800 = 2300 LP

"Here I go, sweetie! Time for my attack!" She declared. "Arctic Bell, use Arctic Blast!" The Synchro Monster formed a blue ball of energy and then blasted a blue icy twister of winds at Cyber Man.

"Cipher HERO Speedstar's effect activates! It increases his ATK by 500 until the end of Battle during each battle it involves in!" The strong twister blew Speedstar away, destroying the hero and causing Cyber Man to wobble on his D-Board as he tried to maintain control despite it.

Cyber Man (3h): 2300 – 500 = 1800 LP

"At this moment, I play my Trap Card, Cipher Signal!" One of his set cards flipped up, revealing a Trap that showed the signal light of the Cipher Hero's symbol in the night sky over the city.

"When a monster I control is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Cipher HERO from my Deck or hand," he explained. "I Special Summon Cipher HERO Web Surfer in Defense Position!"

The surfing hero in blue appeared out of the portal. "When Cipher HERO Web Surfer is Special Summoned, I get to draw two cards."

Cyber Man (5h): 1800 LP

"Phooey. I did you so much damage this turn, and in the end, I made you add two more cards to your hands," she sighed but went back to cherry self. "I end my turn, and at this moment, Windwitch – Arctic Bell's final effect activates! At the end of the turn it battled, I can move it to any of my Main Monster Zones. I choose the middle one."

Mistral (2h): 4000 LP

'She moved it to her Main Monster Zone. She must be planning to summon another monster to the Extra Monster Zone!' Cyber Man analyzed.

"My turn. I draw!" He said.

Cyber Man (6h): 1800 LP

"I Normal Summon Cipher HERO Prof. Upload." A cybernetic superhero with a bold head in a dark blue and yellow skintight suit with a red visor for the eyes appeared, presenting with 2000 ATK for Level 4 monster. "I activate Cipher HERO Prof. Upload's effect! By reducing its ATK by half, I can Special Summon 1 Cipher HERO monster from my graveyard with its ATK increased by 500 points and effect negated. Return, Cipher HERO Speedstar!"

Three HERO monsters were presented in the Main Monster Zones on Cyber Man's side. 'Three monsters? He's going to Link Summon!' Mistral watched as Cyber Man continued on his turn.

"Appear, the circuit of justice!" A bolt of blue lightning shot out of his right hand to the sky, making a circuit portal appeared with arrows. "The summoning condition is two Cipher HERO monsters. I set my Cipher HERO Prof. Upload and Cipher HERO Speedstar to the link markers!" The two monsters turned into blue twisters, sucking into the two arrows at the bottom corners. "Link Summon! Rise a new hero! Link-2, Cipher HERO Double-Bit Face!"

In the other Extra Monster Zone, a brand-new hero appeared. This hero was a skinny, masculine human in half white and half black costume with a mask with inverted color like his costume. On one side of the costume showed Number 1 in white color in the black while the other side showed Number 0 in black color inside the white side. The eyes glowed in orange color with a green gem on the center of the forehead and cutter blade on the top of the head. The symbol of the Cipher HERO is also imprinted on his belt buckle.

Cipher HERO Double-Bit Face-Link 2, DARK, Warrior/Link/Effect, 1800 ATK, Link Arrow: Bottom-Left, Bottom-Right.

"That's aahh… very monochromatic color," Mistral commented sheepishly.

"I activate Cipher HERO Double-Bit Face's effect!" He declared. "Once per turn, I can reduce his attack by half to Special Summon one HERO monster from my hand next to his Link Marker. I summon Elemental HERO Bladedge!"

The golden hero in a gold armor appeared with a sharp blade for the arms. "Then, I play the Spell Card, Heroic Spirits!" The said Spell Card showed Elemental Hero Avian all charged with glowing aura around his body with the spirit of Bladedge over him. "By targeting one HERO monster on the field and different monster on the field, I can increase that monster's ATK by that target monster's attack. I target Cipher HERO Double-Bit Face so that I increase Bladedge's ATK by 900!"

Bladedge's body glowed in the aura, increasing his ATK by 900 points. "Then, I activate Double-Bit Face's other effect!" This made Mistral looked alert. "If his ATK is changed from the original ATK, then I can change one monster's battle position on your side of the field."

"My side?" She asked.

"That's right and I choose the one monster you have on the field; your Synchro monster, Arctic Bell!" Cyber Man pointed at the very monster. "Double-Bit Face, Stance Swap!"

The Link Hero monster shot a laser beam out of the green gem on his forehead, shocking Arctic Bell and turning its position from Attack to Defense Position.

"With that, your monster is now in Defense Position, and I set two cards," Cyber Man said. "Battle! Bladedge attacks your Arctic Bell! Blade Edge Slash!"

Elemental HERO Bladedge flew over to Mistral's side and slashed Arctic Bell in half, causing it to explode.

"When Elemental HERO Bladedge attacks a Defense Position monster, it inflicts piercing battle damage!" He mentioned as Bladedge's slash attack went through Mistral.

"Aaaaah!" She yelped as her Life Points got cut.

Mistral (2h): 4000 – 1400 = 2600 LP

'I finally lowered her Life Points! I must keep this up!' He thought as his mind was set. "At this turn, I activate Cipher HERO Web Surfer's effect! While this hero is face-up on the field, once per turn, I can return one monster's ATK to its original ATK if it was changed at any time due to effects. I change back my Cipher HERO Double-Bit Face's ATK to the way it was!"

Double-Bit Face's body briefly glowed as its ATK returned to 1800. "Double-Bit Face's ATK is back 1800 and Web Surfer's ATK is 800. With these two, I will attack you directly and stop you here! Go, Double-Bit Face, direct attack!"

Double-Bit Face took the cutter blade off from his head and threw it at Mistral, like a boomerang. She winced from the attack, draining her Life Points down.

Mistral (2h): 2600 – 1800 = 800 LP

"Justice will always prevail! Now, Cipher HERO Web Surfer, attack Mistral's LP directly! Surf Wave!" Web Surfer summoned a wave of data behind him, like a tidal wave. He rode on the surfboard like a surfer and surfed towards Mistral. The wave of data was going to consume her…until…

"Too bad you won't beat me this easily! Skill Activate!" She shouted as this surprised him. "Second Windwitch!"

The outline on her avatar form glowed in green as a gust of winds picked up around her, blowing Web Surfer away. "What's up with this wind?!" Cyber Man said. "It feels different from before!"

"If my Life Points would be reduced to zero by battle or card effect before I take the damage, I can remove from play 1 Windwitch monster from my graveyard and increase my Life Points equal to that monster's ATK. I banish my Windwitch Arctic Bell," she explained as green glowing winds spun around her body, preventing damages.

Mistral (2h): 800 + 2400 – 800 = 2400 LP

"No way! Your Skill replenishes your Life Points!" Cyber Man exclaimed.

"That's right, honey. It looks like we will play together a little bit longer," she teased.

Cyber Man gritted his teeth but admitted that he was quite impressed. "I have no choice, but to end my turn here."

Cyber Man (0h): 1800 LP

"Thank you, dear." She winked. "I draw!"

Mistral (3h): 2400 LP

She looked at the card she drew and two other cards in her hand. 'It looks like this little game has come to an end,' she thought as she felt sad, which was strange to her. 'Why do I feel that I don't want to end this duel? It… It reminds me of something… Something in the past…'

- Flashback –

"Here I go, daddy! I declare my Arctic Bell to attack you directly!" Young Mistral attacked with a direct attack by her monster.

"Waaaaah! I lost, again!" A man flipped over over-dramatically. "You won again!"

"That was so much fun, daddy! Let's do it again!" She demanded.

"Oh, right then. It's always fun dueling with you," said her father, bringing her smiles and joy.

- Flashback Ends –

'Right… This feeling of fun… In Dueling… I remember it when I was just a young girl,' she thought but turned serious. 'However, that is not why I'm dueling now. I am dueling to survive this world. This horrible, wretched world!'

Mistral shot a look at Cyber Man, which he took notice.

"She looked serious and… mad?" He whispered to himself.

"Trap Card opens! Return from Different Dimension! By paying half of my Life Points, I can Special Summon as many banished monsters as possible! I bring back my Windwitch – Arctic Bell!" Her ace Synchro monster returned to the field as her Life Points were halved.

Mistral (3h): 2400 / 2 = 1200 LP

"Then, I Normal Summon Windwitch – Portal Bell!" The monster was a giant yellow bell with a small figure on the top with angelic wings and a yellow halo. "When Windwitch – Portal Bell is Normal Summoned successfully, I can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Windwitch Monster from my hand and if I do, it inflicts damage equals to that monster's Level by 100 damage!"

Windwitch – Portal Bell-Level 1, WIND, Spellcaster/Effect, 0 ATK, 0 DEF.

Portal Bell opened a portal underneath itself as another monster came out. "I Special Summon Windwitch – Snowflake Bell!" Out of the portal came out a new monster. This one was a magical girl riding on a broomstick with a white bell with a snowflake pattern on it. This girl had a swirly, long white hair with few streaks of light blue hair.

Windwitch – Snowflake Bell-Level 2, WIND, Spellcaster/Tuner/Effect, 300 ATK, 200 DEF.

"Snowflake Bell is a Level 2 monster, so you take 200 points of damage!" A blast of wind hit Cyber Man, making his D-Board wobble until he regained control over it.

Cyber Man (0h): 1800 – 200 = 1600 LP

"Then, I play the Spell Card, Star Blast!" She showed the Spell Card, which showed 4 orbs of a star in front of Luster Dragon and one of the star orbs exploded at the male duelist. "With this card, I pay any number of Life Points in multiples of 500 to reduce the Level of 1 monster I control or that is in my hand by 1 for each 500 Life Points I pay, until the End Phase of this turn. I pay just 500 Life Points to reduce Windwitch – Snowflake Bell by one level!"

Mistral (1h): 1200 – 500 = 700 LP

Cyber Man checked on his Duel Disk to display the field on the holographic touchscreen. "That monster! It's another Tuner monster!" he exclaimed.

"I tune my Level 1 Windwitch – Snowflake Bell to my Level 7 Windwitch – Arctic Bell!" The two monsters formed into two rings, one white and one blue. The two rings transformed into a stack of eight rings with two numbers showing, one and seven, adding to eight as a cold twister beamed through the tower of rings. "Witch with a bell that shines bright as a diamond and shines brighter than a snowflake! Blow away anyone who stands in my way! Synchro Summon! Ride the wind, Level 8! Windwitch – Diamond Bell!"

A cold wind blew in until it became so strong that it made both of them closed their eyes. When they were able to open again, a new monster appeared in front of them. This one had a huge white bell for the bottom half of the body with opened part and the upper half, the torso was feminine in blue color. Where is supposed to be the hands were wings instead, and three big spikes behind its head. The cold wind calmed down as it stayed in the Extra Monster Zone.

"Another Synchro Monster, but this one is stronger than Arctic Bell!" Cyber Man said.

"This is my strongest ace card!" Mistral exclaimed. "If Windwitch – Diamond Bell is Synchro Summoned, I can target 1 Windwitch monster in my graveyard to inflict damage to my opponent equal to half its ATK. I target Windwitch – Arctic Bell in my graveyard to inflict 1200 points of damage to you! Diamond Shards!"

Diamond Bell summoned multiple small icicle shards and shot them all at Cyber Man, forcing him to cover for himself as he took the beating.

"Aaaaagh!" He screamed.

Cyber Man (0): 1600 – 1200 = 400 LP

"However, I am not done yet. Diamond Bell has another effect and I will use it now!" She declared. "Once per turn, if my opponent takes battle or effect damage, I can target 1 card on the field and destroy it, but if I used only Windwitch monster as materials to Synchro Summon Diamond Bell, I can use this effect twice instead! I destroy your two set cards!"

Diamond Bell summoned a powerful chilly wind over Cyber Man's set cards, destroying them in the process.

"This is the end for you, Mr. Hero! Battle! Windwitch – Diamond Bell attacks your Cipher HERO Double-Bit Face! Diamond Blizzard!" Diamond Bell fired a powerful blizzard towards Cyber Man.

"No, you're wrong, Mistral…" Mistral looked at Cyber Man with a confused, surprised look. "I activate the Trap Card from my graveyard! Heroic Save!"

The Trap showed Elemental HERO Sparkman saving a little girl from an exploding building in the nick of time. "If this card is in the Graveyard, by Tributing one HERO monster from my field, I can negate the destruction of one monster on my side of the field and gain zero damage this turn! I Tribute Elemental HERO Bladedge!"

Bladedged turned into a human shield for Double-Bit Face, sacrificing itself as it took hit from Diamond Bell's blizzard attack.

"You survive this turn? …." Mistral said in a surprising look before she smirked. "I admit, Mr. Hero. You are the first person to ever survive this long and the first who gave me this much trouble."

"My turn. I draw!" Cyber Man drew his last card, but he didn't necessarily need to use it. "Battle! Cipher HERO Double-Bit Face attacks your Windwitch – Portal Bell!" His HERO monster used the cutter weapon to slice Portal Bell in half, making it explode and depleting Mistral's all Life Points.

Mistral: 0 LP

Cyber Man: WINS

Cyber Man and Mistral stopped at the nearby island. "Cyber Man!" The hero crusader of Link VRAINS looked up to see his trusty sidekick arriving towards him. He landed right beside him.

"Fate Kid!" Cyber Man said.

"Sorry to be late, Cyber Man. I was, um, helping some people who needed my help on my way to here, but it made me late. Did you stop Mistral?" He asked.

"I'm right over here," Mistral said aloud.

"Ah, Mistral!" Fate Kid gasped.

"Stay calm, Fate Kid. Mistral won't cause us any harms and I already have handled her," Cyber Man said as he turned his attention to her. "I believe that you have something that belongs to the rightful owner. Please hand it back."

"Fine." She decided as he pressed a few buttons on her Duel Disk, which unleashed an orb of data. The orb flew towards Cyber Man, and he absorbed it into his Duel Disk.

"So this is the stolen data from SOL Tech?" Fate Kid said. "So now we should arrest Mistral?"

"No, Fate Kid. Mr. Zaizen hired us to get back the data, not arrest the culprit," Cyber Man said.

"Wow? You are too soft, Mr. Hero," Mistral said as she hopped on her D-Board, which turned back into a flying broomstick with a bell. "Well, a promise is a promise. You have your data back, so I will just get going."

"Stay out of trouble then," Cyber Man stated.

"No promises," Mistral winked as she flew away.

"Was it OK for her to go like that?" Fate Kid asked.

"As I said, Fate Kid, our job was to retrieve back the stolen data. The next time we encounter her, then we will bring her to justice. For now, let's go and meet Mr. Akira," Cyber Man decided. Fate Kid couldn't disagree on that, so they flew off.

Meanwhile, Mistral watched them go from a safe distance. 'That Cyber Man… I had a lot of fun dueling him. I hope to see him again soon!'

- Codes of Secrets –

Akira Zaizen walked down the hallway until he stopped at a double-deck door and entered it. Inside was a wide room with a sofa, a small table, and a big desk. At the very desk sat Queen.

"Zaizen," she noticed.

"Cyber Man and Fate Kid retrieved the stolen data back," Zaizen stated.

"Good. Who knew what would have happened if this data was used in the wrong hand?" Queen said.

Zaizen looked suspicious at her. "Just exactly what's this data for?"

"Oh, something important for our company, Zaizen-Kun. That would be all. You are dismissed," she noted.

He still felt suspicious of her but didn't want to push the button, so he left her room. Queen looked at the data and smiled slyly.

"With this back in our hand, Go Onizuka will become stronger enough to capture the Ignis from those meddling kids," Queen said.

- Codes of Secrets –

"Have you got the data… Darkside?" A bright yellow Ignis asked.

"Yes, Master Lightning. Thanks to an outside source that I hired, she managed to steal important data from SOL Tech," Darkside answered. "With this, we can use it to control our enemy and use them to fight against each other. Also, it is advantageous for our research."

The two beings looked over to see a sleeping Yu "Morse" Akira in his avatar user form, Codebreaker inside a glass canister with a strange string of code circling him.

Preview for Chapter 70

Before they were Kitty and Mimi, they were Mayumi Sato and Vicky Bolishivik. They have two completely different personality, yet both share the same dream and ambition, but only one can achieve it.

Kitty: Look, Mimi! Next chapter will be about us!

Mimi: It's been awhile since we were here. Due to the whole pandemic stuff and all...

Next time in Yu-Gi-Oh VRAINS Codes of Secrets, Special VRAINS Story: Whose Aim to be Idol!

Kitty: Let's do the thing, like Codebreaker, Playmaker, and others do, Mimi!

Mimi: Do we have to?

Kitty: Come on! On three. One...

Mimi. Fine. Two.

Kitty & Mimi: INTO THE VRAINS!

Hello, everyone. A new update again. I am just on the roll today, but I wanted to get this chapter out because I want to announce something important; the current season of Codes of Secrets is coming to a close. I decided to end this season 2 around the 100th chapter. We still have quite a way until we get there, but it is not that too far.

I would like to give some credits to pokemonking0924 and johannvanguard for card idea inspiration for Windwitch Archetype. Some of the cards, like Windwitch - Diamond Bell are actual real cards that haven't released in public yet, but in the next TCG booster pack at Japan, it will!

Next chapter will be more light-hearted and not heavy related to the plot, but I hope you will find it enjoyable in reading it. Chapter 71 will begin an arc that I've been waiting to write, but we will also see some major plot-related stuff (from the original anime...in my own re-telling that is). I hope you all look forward to it.

Until next time, please stay safe and healthy, and I will see you all soon.
