Special 1: Two Idols, One Dream
Some months ago, a group of four duelists saved the world of Link VRAINS from the apocalyptic disaster, the Tower of Hanoi, and defeated the organization behind, the Knights of Hanoi. Playmaker, Codebreaker, Blue Angel, and Go Onizuka were declared as the heroes of Link VRAINS. However, the first duelist, Playmaker, was put up on a bounty list by SOL Technologies, the owner of Link VRAINS.
Even so, thanks to their action, the world was in relative peace and Link VRAINS was currently in a process of big maintenance and upgrade to the newer version. Not only SOL Technologies was busy, but even net news media was also busy, especially for the people at Den-O News. On this day, they were hosting an audition for the idol anchor news reporter.
"Excuse me! Pardon me! Coming through!" The people walking by were surprised by the gust of wind passing by. It was caused by a young girl on a bicycle riding fast.
The girl looked around to be 15 years of age. She had purple eyes, and black hair with two big bangs in pigtail style with some pink dyed hairs mix in with her original hair. She wore a pink sweater jacket with white strings, ripped blue jeans shorts, and a pair of white and pink shoes with matching white socks with pink hearts.
The young girl was being late and heading to Den-O News Corporation Building.
"I'm gonna make it! I'm gonna make it! I'm gonna make it! I've been waiting for this my whole life! I will be an idol!" She shouted.
Meanwhile, just a bit ahead of her, a limousine stopped in front of the building. The driver came out first and opened the door for the passenger. They said a passenger was a different young girl who also looked around to be the age of 15. She had short white, spiky hair that went downwards and yellow eyes. She wore a white fur coat with long green dress pants and a pair of black high-heel boots. She also wore earpiece with two blue sapphires.
"Thank you, Von," she said.
"Yes, Young Mistress Vicky. Good luck on your audition," the driver said, which she responded with a smirk before she walked into the building. Just at the same time, the first girl arrived at her bicycle, looking very tired.
She huffed and puffed, looking breathless. "I… Ah, made it. Ha…"
The young girl who came by the bike signed at the receptionist, who found to be a bit startled by her messy and tired she looked. The receptionist gave her a number and showed her the way, and then saw other girls who also came for the same audition sitting and waiting for their turns.
She sat on the nearby bench where another girl was sitting, too.
"Ah, I can finally relax for moments! Man, I knew I should've checked my clock's battery before I went to bed last night!" The girl mumbled to herself.
The white-haired girl who was sitting next to her was ignoring her while reading a book.
She looked around and noticed the said person next to her. "So, what's up!"
The white-haired girl glanced at her and just said, "Hmph, greeting."
"Eww…. Ok," she said, feeling a bit insensitive. "Say, what's your reading there?"
"Gulliver's Travels," she answered.
"Oh…." The other girl nodded.
"Number 63, you may enter now." A man called out, who was the staff who worked at this building.
"Well. Nice talking with you," said the white-haired girl.
"Oh! Yeah and good luck!" The other girl responded.
"Same to you, too," she alluded.
The other girl wondered did she meant by that. It sounded as if she had a higher chance than her.
'Well, she will see that I will do much better than her when my time comes, or my name isn't Mayumi Sato!' She declared mentally.
"Number 64, please enter." The same man called out.
'Oh! That's my number!' She heard it. She was nervous but stayed calm before she responded and smiled. "I'm coming!"
She entered the audition room led by the man. She sat on the chair in front of four people sitting at the table. Three of the people were men in a regular business suit, but the third person on the right was a familiar woman. She was a fair-skinned, blue-eyed woman with long brown hair.
"Good morning," the woman greeted. "My name is Claire Ai, the news anchorwoman from Den-O News and welcome to the audition. Please introduce yourself."
"My name is Mayumi Sato, Miss Ai and I am your biggest fan!" Mayumi responded enthusiastically.
"Well, well. You are a very peppy one, but I do like that enthusiasm in people," Claire said, making Mayumi blushed a bit as she felt complimented. "Now then, tell us a little bit about yourself, Mayumi."
"Well, I was born in Den City and live in Downtown. My parents own a small tofu shop, and we are not rich, but not too poor either," she said honestly.
"I see. That sounds interesting. So, may we ask why did you come to this audition? What is your goal in this?" Claire asked.
"Well, I want to become an idol! I am inspired by the Charisma Duelist, Blue Angel, and bring joy, and happiness to people, just like her," Mayumi answered.
"I see. Do you happened to know how to duel?" Claire furtherly asked.
"Duel?" Mayumi was a bit surprised when she asked this, but kept her composure and answered with a smile. "Un yes, I know how to duel! I mean, like everyone in my class knows how to duel! Ha, ha, ha!"
The four people stared at her with a bit of sweat drop. Mayumi noticed the awkward silence, but suddenly, she noticed Claire chuckled a bit under her note.
"Ah, I see. Well, the reason I ask the question is that even we at Den-O News covered all areas of news, one of the most popular topics we cover is dueling and duelist. I'm sure you are aware that I made a lot of coverage for many duelists, mainly Codebreaker," Claire explained.
"Yes! Of course! I saw all your news coverage on Codebreaker! I have them all recorded even!" Mayumi exclaimed.
"Oh my! Really? Well, thank you so much for being such a fan," Claire said.
Later that day, it became nighttime and the audition was over. All the people who came for the audition will be notified in a few days of their results. Claire, on the other hand, was having a bit of a pickle.
"Hmmmmm…." She hummed to herself she was looking at two specific profiles of the two girls.
"What's wrong, Claire?" She looked up and saw a man with eyeglasses.
"Oh, Chief!" Claire gasped.
"You are working extremely hard. Trying to find a good replacement for you," Chief said.
"Oh, Chief! You know that I am not retiring just yet. I'm just moving, that's all," Claire claimed.
"Ha, ha, ha. So, have you decided who would it be?" He asked as he poured himself a cup of coffee.
"Well, sir. That's the thing. Out of them all, I met the two most lovely young girls, but I couldn't decide who to pick. Both of them are good, though with some differences," Claire admitted.
"Oh, like what?" He asked.
"Well, this girl, Vicky Bolishvik, is a very smart person with a high reputation. She's the young daughter of Bolishvik Industrial and at a young age, she made so many accomplishments. She came for the audition to pursue a career in journalism, but she has this cool charm about her that would make her a great idol and she doesn't mind becoming one as long as she gave the viewers the truth, according to her interview," she explained.
"I see," Chief responded as he sipped his coffee.
"On the other hand, there is this another girl, Mayumi Sato. She's from a family that owns a tofu shop downtown. Though, she has this bubbly personality that makes people around her laugh and just genuinely light up the mood. Plus, she's quite cute," she added.
"I see. So, you are having trouble picking either one of them," Chief said.
"Yeah! I mean, both of them are good. If only we can just pick both, but there is only opening for one person…." Claire said as she puffed her cheeks.
"I think I have an idea…." Chief stated.

The two girls, Vicky and Mayumi were called to come to Den-O News Corporation. When they arrived, they were put in the same room.
'Why is this girl doing here?' Mayumi thought as Vicky just stayed still while sitting and looking cold and expressionless.
They heard the door opened and some people came in, including Claire and Chief.
"Good afternoon, ladies. My name is Amimura Haruki and I am the Chief of the Den-O News. My job is to make sure my reporters get the news in time," Chief Haruki introduced.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Chief Haruki-san," Vicky greeted politely.
"Um, yes. It is nice to meet you, too!" Mayumi greeted hesitantly in response. 'Stay cool.'
"We call you both to tell you that both of you have made it through the first test of the audition," he stated, which made the girl perked with interest. "However, now both of you will go through the second test of the audition and this will determine who will take the position."
"Oh sweet!" Mayumi said happily but quickly kept her composure. "Ah, I mean, yes sir."
"The second test of the audition is…. a Duel!" Chief Haruki announced, surprising both girls.
"A duel?!" Mayumi gasped overdramatically while Vicky's eyebrows just rose.
"The one who wins the Duel will be the winner while the other who loses the Duel doesn't get the position," Chief Haruki explained. "This is what my team has decided and received the direct approval from the higher executive for this."
A little bit later, the two girls were taken to the rooftop of the building. The rooftop was used for their heliport, but today, it was going to be used for a dueling arena. It had enough space for it. Mayumi stood on one side while Vicky stood on the opposite side towards Mayumi.
"First, we decide who goes first by using flipping a coin. Please pick your side," Chief Haruki said.
"I pick head!" Mayumi declared.
"Then, I shall pick tail," Vicky noted.
"Very well." Chief Haruki flipped his coin and landed on his hand, but flipped it over to his other hand before he looked at which side it landed. "The side that landed is ahead. Miss Sato will go first."
"Oh yeah!" She cheered, but quickly remembered her manner. "Ah, I mean, thank you."
"Then, both may begin anytime," Chief stated.
"Duel!"

'According to their profile, both Mayumi and Vicky knows how to duel. I just hope this goes well, but I wish good luck to both!' Claire thought
"OK. It's time for me to shine!" Mayumi exclaimed as she took her first card. "I summon Lunalight Emerald Bird!"
A green-skinned woman with green feathered wings for arms wearing an orange and dark purple dress with a broach appeared in Attack Position.
"I activate Emerald Bird's effect!" She declared. "If she is Normal or Special Summoned, I can send one Lunalight card from my hand to the graveyard and then draw 1 card. I send my Lunalight Crimson Fox from my hand and then draw one card." She discarded one and then added a new one.
Her opponent narrowed her eyes as she watched silently. "Then, I play the card I just added. The Spell Card, Polymerization!"
"Oh! She's going to Fusion Summon. Interesting," Claire said. "Usually, most people would go straight to Link Summon due to the current Master Rule, but she's using Lunalight monster, so it makes sense she would do Fusion Summoning instead."
"I fuse the Emerald Bird on my field with the Lunalight Blue Cat in my hand!" The feathered green girl alongside the other girl with pale blue skin, spiky dark blue hair, and cat ears broke apart into green and blue particles respectfully. The particles swirled into a vortex before spiraling upwards as streams of energy until it converged, creating a twister of purple energy.
"The green bird that soars the dark sky! Blue cat that prowls through the darkness! Spiral into the twister and become a new power granted by the moon's mysterious power!" Mayumi chanted. "Fusion Summon! Appear, beautiful beast that dances in the moonlight! Lunalight Cat Dancer!"
A pale-skinned woman wearing a black and green dress appeared out of the twister after it calmed down. She had long red hair, two red tails, and wore a purple headdress with her face covered by a purple, golden mask in the shape of a crescent moon. She showed off her silver daggers in a dancing pose as she was summoned to the Right Extra Monster Zone in Attack Position.
Claire, Chief Haruki, and others looked impressed by the monster's summon while Vicky looked expressionless, but her eyes on the monster.
"I end my turn," she said, finishing her turn with her Fusion Monster in the Extra Monster Zone. "Kick that!"
Mayumi (2h): 4000 LP
"Not bad," Chief Haruki noted. "She Fusion Summoned a quite strong monster with more than 2000 ATK. Now I wonder how her opponent will counter this."
"I draw." Vicky stayed calm as she drew her card. The staff of Den-O watched her. They were surprised to see Mayumi summoned a Fusion Monster and wondering how Vicky will react to this.
"I play the Spell Card, 1st Movement Solo." She presented a Spell Card that showed a music notebook and maestro stick.
"1st Movement Solo." The Ai in her Duel Disk spoke up, which caught everyone's attention. "Its effect is if you control no monsters, Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Melodious monster from your hand or Deck. You can only activate one 1st Movement Solo per turn, and you cannot Special Summon any other monsters during the turn you activate this effect, except Melodious monster."
"Melodious. That's another monster that also uses Fusion Summon, but unlike Lunalight…" Claire thought aloud.
"I Special Summon Level 4 Aria The Melodious Diva from my Deck." An orange woman with purple hair and a harp on her back appeared as she sang. "While I control a Melodious monster, I can Special Summon Sonata The Melodious Diva from my hand."
Next to Aria was a woman in a blue dress and long green and blue hair, and a blues harp on her back. She was summoned in Defense Position.
"Due to Sonata was Special Summoned, while it is on the field, all Fairy-type monsters Mistress Vicky control gains 500 ATK and DEF," the AI explained as Sonata sang, causing herself and Aria to glow in the blue aura and increasing to 1500 DEF and 2100 ATK.
"Appear! The melodious circuit of harmony!" A Link Portal appeared above them in the field as everyone looked up while Vicky chanted. "Arrowheads confirmed! The summoning condition is two Fairy monsters. I set Aria and Sonata to the Link Markers!" The two fairies turned into orange and green lights, absorbing into the bottom-left and bottom-right arrows, turning them red. "Circuit combines! The glorious composer who harmonizes the world! Enchant the enemies with your harmonizing music to vanquish them all! Link Summon! Appear, Link-2! Bloom Harmonist the Melodious Composer!"
A beautiful woman with big reddish-purple hair in a green and pink dress that looked like flower petals appeared out of the portal as she sang when she was summoned in the Extra Monster Zone. She also wore a big purple flower in her hair like a hairclip.
"A Link Monster?!" Mayumi gasped.
"That's correct," Vicky noted as she glared at her. "Is this your first time seeing such? If it is, then you are inexperienced."
"Hey, I know what it is!" Mayumi argued, but Vicky ignored her.
"Bloom Harmonist's effect activates!" she declared. "If she is Link Summoned, I can discard 1 card and then Special Summon two Melodious monsters with different levels from my Deck to the zones she points to. I discard this card and Special Summon Level 8 Mozarta the Melodious Maestra and Level 4 Opera the Melodious Diva."
One card in her hand was discarded as two more monsters appeared in the zones Bloom Harmonist pointed to. The first one was a pale-skinned lady with blue eyes, fairy wings, and a red dress, and the second one was a small girl in a light purple dress, white shoes, and pink hair with two bangs that shaped like a dome.
"I activate Mozarta's effect," she stated. "Once per turn, I can Special Summon 1 LIGHT Fairy-type monster from my hand. I Special Summon Elegy the Melodious Diva." Another woman appeared in the zone located at Bloom Harmonist's bottom arrow in Attack Position. This woman had green hair with two long bangs down to her chest, harp on her back, and wore a sleeveless black and purple dress.
"Elegy the Melodious Diva's effect: Special Summoned Melodious monsters Mistress Vicky control cannot be destroyed by card effects. Additionally, if this card was Special Summoned, all Fairy-Type monster Mistress controls gain 300 ATK," the AI explained as all the divas gain 300 ATK.
"I think it's time to show you how to properly Fusion Summon," Vicky stated, making Mayumi with wide eye. "I play the Spell Card, Polymerization. I fuse Mozarta the Melodious with Opera the Melodious Diva in my field."
The two said ladies turned into red and pink particles. The particles swirled around into twisters before it merged into a large purple twister. "The diva with a voice of choir, sing into the battle, and enchant this dull world! Fusion Summon! Appear, Level 7! Bloom Prima The Melodious Choir!"
Out of the twister appeared a pale woman with purple hair and a yellow dress with two flowers on her shoulder in Attack Position.
"She Fusion Summoned her Fusion Monster, like me!" Mayumi gasped, though she hates to admit internally that it was quite impressive.
"Then, I play the Continuous Spell, Melodious Chorus." On her side in the Spell & Trap Zone, three ladies in red, yellow, and green appeared, singing as a chorus of the trio. Each of them had a harp on their back.
"What would that card do?" Mayumi asked.
"You will see," Vicky answered coldly, making Mayumi pout.
"The effect of Opera the Melodious Diva activates." Vicky's AI spoke up. "If this card is sent to the Graveyard as a Fusion Material for a Fusion Summon, for the rest of this turn, Melodious monsters Mistress Bolishvik control cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects."
"Nani?!" Mayumi was surprised again, including the watchers, too.
"Not only that, but I activate Bloom Prima's effect," she said. "She gains 300 ATK for each Fusion Material I used to summon her." Her Fusion Monster sang as her body glowed in yellow light, causing her ATK to raise to 2800. "Additionally, she can make a second attack during each Battle Phase."
"Make a second attack?" Claire said in a surprised tone. "Since she controls three monsters on the field, and Mayumi only has one monster. That would mean she will lose if she is attacked by all three!"
"Not quite." Claire and other staff members looked at Chief Haruki. "Lunalight Cat Dancer cannot be destroyed by battle. The least Miss Bolishvik can do is inflict 800 points of damage to Miss Sato's Life Points."
"Battle! Bloom Prima attacks Lunalight Cat Dancer!" Bloom Prima released a wave of energy with flower petals that struck Lunalight Cat Dancer.
"Fortunately, Lunalight Cat Dancer cannot be destroyed by battle!" Mayumi stated.
"That won't work!" Vicky called out. "The effect of Melodious Chorus activates. When a Melodious monster declares an attack or is attacked, I can negate the effect of one face-up card on the field. I negate your Lunalight Cat Dancer." The Melodious chorus trio sang in harmony, releasing energy made up of musical notes that struck Lunalight Cat Dancer, turning her color to gray and making her effect useless.
This surprised everyone. Even Chief Haruki didn't expect this but smirked at it. "Bloom Prima destroys Cat Dancer!"
Bloom Prima's attack overwhelmed Cat Dancer, making her cry before she was destroyed, and the same energy made Mayumi cried and wince.
Mayumi (2h): 4000 – 400 = 3600 LP
"Bloom Prima's second attack! She will attack you directly," she declared as the Fusion Monster released another wave of energy, which struck and pushed Mayumi, but she stood still and tried to resist.
Mayumi (2h): 3600 – 2800 = 800 LP
"I activate the effect of Lunalight Sapphire Armadillo in my hand!" Mayumi yelled, revealing the card. Just then, a blue-skinned girl with an armadillo shell on her back appeared. "If I took damage from a direct attack, I can Special Summon this card from my hand."
Lunalight Sapphire Armadillo-Level 4, DARK, Beast-Warrior/Effect, 1200 ATK, 2000 DEF.
"Your resistance is futile. I attack your Sapphire Armadillo with Elegy," she said as the monster released a wave of green energy at Armadillo. The armadillo girl cried before she was shattered.
"It seems like this is the end for you. Bloom Harmonist declares a direct attack to your Life Points." Her Link Monster charged energy in her hands and then blasted it at Mayumi directly.
Everyone watched quietly and as the smoke cleared, everyone's eyes widened, but the most surprised one was Vicky. Mayumi was still standing with her Life Points unchanged and Lunalight Sapphire Armadillo on the field.
"How? How did you survive?" Vicky asked.
"Easy!" Mayumi replied. "If I were to take a direct attack while Sapphire Armadillo is in the Graveyard, I can Special Summon it and negate the attack."
"… I see. Very well. It seems like you will last longer than I expected. I set a card and end my turn," she said.
Vicky (0h): 4000 LP
"Phew!" Claire released the breath she was holding. "Wow, this duel is so exciting! I would be reporting this duel right about now!"
'Ok! I'm still in the game, but with three monsters on the field, I got to do something about it. Not to mention her Continuous Spell, too. If I blindly attack, she can negate my card effect. The only thing to do is trust in the heart of my deck.'
"My turn, I draw!" She drew her card and then looked at it, causing her to grin.
Mayumi (3h): 800 LP
"Yes! I am a bit rusty, but my deck never let me down! I play the Spell, Luna Light Perfume!"
She showed the card that presented a glass of misty purple perfume with a crescent moon in the background. "With this, I target 1 Lunalight monster in my graveyard and Special Summon it. I resurrect Lunalight Blue Cat!"
Next to the armadillo girl, a blue-skinned feline woman appeared on the field. "Now, appear! The circuit of moonlight!" The Link square portal appeared above her as she started the chant. "Arrowheads confirmed! The summoning condition is two Lunalight monsters. I set my Lunalight Sapphire Armadillo and Blue Cat to the Link Markers!"
The two women turned into blue twisters, spinning into the bottom-left and bottom-right arrows on the Link portal. "Circuit combines! Link Summon! Appear, Link-2! Lunalight Sabertooth Dancer!"
Out of the portal appeared an orange-skinned teenage feline girl with two sharp teeth sticking out of its mouth, green eyes, and wearing a dark green gymnastics outfit with silver armor and crescent moon mask.

"A Lunalight Link Monster…" Vicky whispered to herself as she glared at the monster.
"Due to Sapphire Armadillo's effect, if it leaves the field after it was Special Summoned by its effect, I have to banish it instead, but Lunalight Sabertooth Dancer's effect activates!" she declared. "When she is Link Summoned, I can shuffle up to two Lunalight cards from my graveyard to my deck, and then draw an equal number of cards. I shuffle my Lunalight Blue Cat and Emerald Bird into my deck, and then draw two new cards."
Mayumi (2h + 2 = 4h): 800 LP
"Then, I play the Spell Card, Monster Reborn! With this, I can bring back any monster from either graveyard. I choose mine and I resurrect Lunalight Cat Dancer!" The feline dancer appeared next to her Link monster's bottom-left arrow.
"Then, I play the Spell Card, Polymerization!" The crowds' eye widened to see another Polymerization, knowing that she will Fusion again. "I fuse my Lunalight Cat Dancer with Sabertooth Dancer, and I activate the latter's effect! Lunalight Sabertooth Dancer counts as two Fusion Materials for a Fusion Summon of Lunalight Fusion Monster."
The two feline dancers turned into purple and blue particles, turning into swirls. The swirls combined into a single purple twister. "The beautiful beast that dances in the moonlight! The ferocious dancer with a fang that shines like a moonlight! Spiral into the twister by the power of the moon's gravity! Fusion Summon! Appear, Lunalight Panther Dancer!" A velvet red-skinned woman in purple and pink dress appeared with two big golden shoulder pads, white paws, and purple ears in the Extra Monster Zone.
"I activate Panther Dancer's effect!" she declared. "For the rest of this turn, any monsters you control that would be destroyed by battle isn't destroyed, but in exchange, my Panther Dancer can attack all your monsters you control, twice this turn."
"Let's go! Lunalight Panther Dancer attacks Bloom Prima!" The feline dancer jumped up into the air with her claws out and ready.
"What is she doing? They both have the same ATK and both will be destroyed!" Claire gasped.
"That would not matter because you foolishly declared to attack my Bloom Prima with an equal attack," Vicky stated. "However, that effect won't matter too because I activate my Spell Card, Melodious Chorus' effect once again."
"I know that, which is why I will play this card from my hand!" Vicky raised her eyebrow. "I play the Quick-Play Spell, Lunalight Ambush!" The Spell showed Lunalight Panther Dancer jumping out of the bush over a frightened Ojama Yellow, Green, and Purple. "When my Lunalight monster attacks, it is unaffected by an opponent's Spell and Trap Cards, and it gains 500 ATK until the end of this turn!"
Vicky gasped for the first time in this duel as Lunalight Panther Dancer's claw glowed in a dark pink aura. She slashed Bloom Prima, making her cry in pain as the attack caused Vicky to wince.
Vicky (0h): 4000 – 500 = 3500
"I declare my monster to attack Bloom Prima again!" Panther Dancer slashed Bloom Prima as this time it was destroyed, causing Vicky to wince from the damage.
Vicky (0h): 3500 – 500 = 3000
"Next up is Elegy the Melodious Diva!" The feline dancer attacked again. Elegy cried horribly as she was scratched over her face. Vicky winced with her right eye closed by the painful cry from her monster.
Vicky (0h): 3000 – 1000 = 2000
"Continue with the attack at Elegy, Panther Dancer!" Panther Dancer slashed Elegy in half, destroying the fairy as Vicky gritted and winced.
Vicky (0h): 2000 – 1000 = 1000
"Amazing! Mayumi is going to win by comeback!" Claire exclaimed.
"Once her Panther Dancer attacks Bloom Harmonist, Miss Sato wins," Chief said as he looked from Mayumi's side of the field to Vicky's. He noticed that Vicky's eyes showed that she wasn't going to give up.
"It was nice knowing you and all, but I will be the next face of Den-O News!" Mayumi exclaimed. "Lunalight Panther Dancer, do your thing!"
Her monster nodded and then jumped up into the air. Bloom Harmonist gasped as she saw Panther Dancer above her as she was going to pounce and attack her. Everyone watched with awe and anticipation as everything felt moving slow.
"Trap activates!" Suddenly, a flash of light beamed out of nowhere, temporarily blinding everyone. Lunalight Panther Dancer gasped and cried before she was swallowed by the light.
"What the?! No, what happened?" Mayumi gasped.
"I activated the Trap Card, Mirror Force," Vicky revealed.
"Mirror Force; When an opponent's monster declares an attack, this card destroys all opponent's Attack Position monster," Vicky's AI explained.
"No way…" Mayumi was shocked.
Mayumi (2h): 800 LP
"It is now my turn," Vicky stated as she drew a card to start. "Battle! Bloom Harmonist the Melodious Choir will attack your Life Points directly! Bloom Blast!"
Bloom Harmonist unleashed a blast of energy with musical notes made up of energy swirling around the beam. The beam swallowed Mayumi as a whole.

Vicky Bolishvik WINS!
"The winner is Miss Vicky Bolishvik!" the Chief announced.
Claire and her co-workers were speechless until she cleared her throat. "I can't believe it. I thought Mayumi would win, but Vicky had that card set."
Mayumi was lying on the floor, utterly defeated but soon stood back up with a smile.
"Congratulations! That was a lot of fun!" She cheered as she walked over to Vicky, and shook her hand. "Great job and wish you luck!"
"Um…" Vicky was surprised as she couldn't respond properly in time before Mayumi left. Everyone else thought the duel was close, but they couldn't shake and feel sorry for Mayumi.
It was late afternoon. Mayumi was alone at the park, crying to herself while sitting at the swing. Without her knowing, someone approached her and said, "So, this is where you were."
Mayumi looked up with tears in her eyes and wiped them away to see the person.
"Wait. What are you doing here?" She asked.
"I came to talk with you," Vicky said as she sat on another swing next to her. "I will admit that in that duel, I thought I almost lose. Almost…"
"Yeah, so. You still got the position. You will be the new idol newscaster," Mayumi said.
"I declined." She looked in surprise. "I declined them."
"What?! But why?" She asked as she was shocked.
"I declined because I counter-offered them. I won't take the job unless it was a duo."
"Duo?" She repeated.
"Mayumi Sato." Vicky stood up and faced in front of her. "Would you like to part of a duo with me?"
"Huh? What?" Mayumi gasped.
"If we both become an idol, both of us can achieve our dream. That way it is fair for both of us and Den-O News Corporation if we work together," Vicky explained. "So would you accept my off…"
Suddenly, Mayumi jumped in and hugged Vicky tightly. "Oh, thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!"
From that day forward, Den-O News hired Mayumi Sato and Vicky Bolishvik. Under Claire's supervision and training for 3 months, they became the new face of Den-O News, and it was a success. Viewership increased, and Mayumi and Vicky became a popular idol duo in the news media of Link VRAINS under their alias, "Kitty and Mimi."
"We will be live in 2 minutes people!"
"So Vicky, are you?" Mayumi asked excitedly.
"Yeah, yeah. I am always ready," Vicky responded coldly.
"Come on! We know each other for months now! Can't you be a little bit more enthusiastic?" She complained.
"I am enthusiastic," she replied, causing Mayumi to groan and rolled her eyes.
"Well, whatever. Let's log in!" Mayumi declared.
"Yes," she followed.
"Into the VRAINS!" They both shouted.
- Present Time –
"Meow! Good morning, Link VRAINS!" The duo appeared on the monitor screen in Link VRAINS everywhere. "This is Kitty!"
"And I'm Mimi," Mimi greeted calmly.
"This is your daily morning news from Den-O News!" Kitty stated excitedly. "Let's begin our first news, Mimi."
"Right," Mimi nodded. "Our first news of the day is the update on the latest incident that has been occurring in Link VRAINS as of late."
"Oh yeah! That incident!" Kitty gasped.
"Yes. We got a report that another duelist was attacked last night by the mysterious avatar who's calling himself "Reaper"," Mimi said.
"Geez! That sounds so creepy and yet so cool," Kitty commented.
"Well, whoever he or she is, what they're doing is not cool at all, but I agree with you about creepy," Mimi said. "According to our source, this 'Reaper' has been randomly forcibly dueling other duelists in Link VRAINS and getting them hurt. Well, in a sense that they are hurting pride, not physically."
"That's just terrible and mean! Dueling is fun and all, but forcing others to duel is not right at all!" Kitty argued. "We wish you guys who are duelists be careful when you are in Link VRAINS and stay in a group or with someone else to be on the safe on the side."
"There have been also a report of a group of duelists being defeated by Reaper, so it is best to stay away from Link VRAINS in my opinion," Mimi added.
"This Reaper guy is a real big bully," Kitty said. "Be careful out there, guys!"
"Onto the other news, the famous duelist, Codebreaker is still missing for another week. This marks the 4th week he has been missing," Mimi stated.
"Man, I wonder what happened to him. I hope he's alright somewhere. I haven't seen him for a while," Kitty added.
"Kitty. We haven't seen Codebreaker for several months since we appeared last time in this story," Mimi explained.
"What do you mean by 'story', Mimi?" she asked.
"On nothing…" She shrugged.

I hope you all enjoyed reading this chapter. This chapter is more or less a filler, which is why it is called "Special 1". Maybe I will write another one in the future like this kind of chapter if I feel like it. We'll wait and see!
The next chapter is going to be exciting because it is a start of an original arc that I wanted to write and don't worry, we will get back into the main plot of the VRAINS anime not too far in the future.
