Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 3 of Temporary Home. And the only chapter that is purely from my mind. You will find out what Aeron has been keeping from the boys, but will both Sam and Dean hear it or will only one hear it? Well I won't leave you guys hanging for long because here is what Aeron was hiding from the boys. Without further ado Chapter 3 of Temporary Home.
Chapter 3
Aeron had the hood of her car open. All of the items that she needed to take the motor out of her car laid out on the edge of her car. She had a bandana keeping her long bangs out of her face. She was in a white tank top revealing her black bra that she was wearing underneath it. She also had a pair of ripped jeans. She began to look the motor over in her car. She let out a sigh. "Damn it." She muttered. She was going to have to get a new one. The mileage was high meant that a new one needed to be put in. Hell she even took care of it, but she had to have it towed a few days ago because the engine had given out on it. Which sucked on her part.
Sam came out and saw her working on her challenger. "Should you be working on that with a broken arm?"
Aeron looked over her shoulder at him. "Well… it needs to be done. Need to replace the damn motor." She cocked her hip and put her hand on it. "Dean's busy fixing his own car and I doubt that you know how to fix a car, Sam."
Sam let out a sigh. That was true. He really didn't know how to fix a car. Not really.
"I might need your help though." She said brushing some of the strawberry locks from her neck that was sticking to it. "I can't lift this motor. I know that for damn sure due to the fact I am in a cast."
"You are asking me to help you?"
Aeron looked at him like he hadn't heard her right. "Well yeah. I can't ask Dean. He would be a dick about it. You not so much. Besides, I wouldn't ask Bobby if he's busy." She let out a sigh. "If…" She stopped herself from talking. No, she couldn't talk about him. It would only cause problems. She pinched the bridge of her nose closing her eyes. She felt the tears beginning to well up.
Sam cleared his throat a little bit. "I heard what you said earlier to Bobby. Before we went to Ellen's."
Aeron looked at him sharply with wide blue gray eyes.
"What was that all about?"
Aeron let out a soft sigh and looked down at the ground. "You weren't supposed to hear that conversation."
"Well, I did."
"You aren't gonna drop it until I tell you."
"Nope."
Aeron let out a soft sigh. "Alright fine, but you can just help me with this then." She said pointing to the motor in her car.
"Alright."
Aeron began to work on removing the motor doing what she needed to do to take it out of her car and put the new one in. "I haven't been honest fully with you and Dean." Aeron said not even looking at Sam. "I know things that you two wouldn't even understand. I know what demons can do. Hell, even crossroad demons." She shook her head.
"How…"
Aeron stopped for a moment. She closed her eyes. "I had a brother too."
"What?"
"I had a brother. He actually passed away… well…" She stopped talking. She took a shaky breath. "Well… he died over five years ago now."
"What happened?"
Aeron looked over at him. A sad look was etched across her face. She swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat. "I was really really sick. Cancer. I was only 14. Nothing was working." She shook her head thinking back when she was 14 years old. "My grandfather was preparing for the worst and I guess my brother…. my 20 year old brother didn't want anything to happen to me." She rubbed her face with her hand and took a calming breath.
"You had cancer?"
Aeron nodded her head. "Yeah. Not something that you would think that I would have." She shrugged her shoulders.
"What did your brother do?" Sam asked softly.
"Darrel thought that the two of us would be fighting the things that went bump in the night. And we did for some time. Until it began to really take a toll on my body. I wasn't strong enough to even go out on normal hunts. I was stuck in the hospital most of the time. Losing my hair due to chemo that wasn't even working." Aeron shook her head. "My brother was damned if he was going to lose his baby sister. He left one day from the hospital when they said it was only a matter of time before I ended up dying from it."
Sam saw a few tears slip from her eyes. He wasn't expecting to hear such a harsh cruel but real story from Aeron. He couldn't help, but wonder what Darrel had done to have her there alive and him long gone. He couldn't have saved her with just anything. So what was it? What did Darrel really do to save Aeron's life?
"Darrel… he had gone to the crossroads." She shook her head. "He made a deal. A deal that he could never back out of. He gave his soul to save my life."
"How long did he get?"
Aeron put her socket wrench down. She rubbed the side of her cheek getting a little bit of grease onto her cheek. "Now that's the kicker. Six months. Only six months. That was all that he was given. I guess hunters don't get ten years like everyone else. I think it is because of how much of a danger we are to them. I don't know, but he gave his soul and was dragged to hell by hell hounds." She shrugged her shoulders. "I don't want you and Dean to become bitter."
"You think maybe that is what my dad did."
"What do you mean?" Aeron asked, looking at him in confusion.
"Do you think that my dad made a deal to save Dean's life?"
Aeron shook her head. "I don't know Sam. I really don't. If he did… he would have said."
"But he didn't."
"He left you with so many questions and no answers?"
Sam nodded his head.
"That's how parents are Sam. Hell be thankful that you knew your dad."
"What do you mean?"
"My dad died when I was a kid. So yeah… I don't know… how he really was. Darrel knew more about my dad than anything."
"I'm sorry." He said to her,
"For what?" She asked, grabbing him by his flannel that he wore moving him in front of her car. "Come here. I'm gonna show you how to do this."
Sam took off his flannel revealing his white shirt that looked fairly tight on him.
Aeron's face flushed. She looked away from him. Damn it, why did he have to be so… well… fit. Damn.
"For what you had to go through."
Aeron shook her head. "It's not your fault Sam. Hunters don't live forever. We have fast lives. Got to live fast and fight hard."
"And you want to be a teacher?"
"Those days died when my folks died. Hunted from the time that they died thanks to my grandfather."
"You shouldn't have had to go through it."
"Well. Most hunters do. Come on. I think the two of us can get this motor out."
Sam nodded his head.
"Besides… why the sudden interest in me?"
Sam's cheeks flushed. "Maybe we should get to know each other…"
"Really? You think that I'm gonna stay around?"
Sam looked at her. "Aren't you?" He asked in confusion.
"Well… I'll be staying for a bit. I did promise to help with that demon."
"And after?"
"I don't know." She admitted. "I'm a vampire hunter. Not really a demon hunter."
"Well… after we get him… I would… I mean…."
Aeron looked over at him in confusion. "How about we just wait and see how well we work together."
Sam smiled and nodded his head.
"And then I will decide on if I stay or if this is really just temporary."
"Okay."

That is the end of Chapter 3. I know there wasn't much in this chapter. Basically Aeron revealed some things about herself. Please review and let me know what you think. I hope to update soon. Now we are getting into the episode with Gordon Walker. I can't wait to write it. Until next time.
