"I'll finish this fast, a cook like you doesn't deserve the crown. Go back to the kitchen and stick to what you've been dealt with!" Aggron said as he began to charge at Appletun with a lance and shield combo.
"Oh? Then maybe you should have stuck serving the king's army then. But don't worry, I'll relieve you of that duty soon" Appletun said, smiling gently, making it seem like a more sinister one with how his eyes were basically covered by the apple shaped chef's hat he was wearing.
Appletun then used both spatulas to catch Aggron's lance, holding onto his spatulas as he trapped the length with his oversized utensils.
"...!" Aggron was surprised, such a ridiculous weapon could catch a thrust like that strong!?
"Amazing, it's like when I catch swordfish my assistant chefs throw at me" Appleton said as he kicked Aggron away, attempting to disarm the steel type.
Aggron held his ground, enraged by such a maneuver that he pulled on what seemed to be a handle on his lance, detaching part of the lance to become a sword as he intended to punish Appletun for his insolence.
This forced Appletun to hop back away, forced to let go of Aggron's weapon.
"Tch… That weapon of yours is a nuisance, won't a creampie from me be enough to get you to surrender?~" Appletun said as ambiguously as possible.
"Such insolent words coming from you. I will make sure that you will not be able to walk this world without being shamed" Aggron said, transforming his weapons into a single giant axe.
"I share the same sentiment, but don't worry. I'll keep you all the same, my warrior~" Appletun said as he began to pull out what seemed to be a piping bag.
"What's this? A piping bag? What is our chef up to this time?" Gliscor commented as he watched along the sidelines.
Appletun let go of the piping bag, letting it lay down on the arena as he equipped his spatulas again.
"Just what are you up to this time!?" Aggron yelled, he did not like how many surprises this seemingly average citizen was making.
"Oh nothing, I just figured you would like a snack, in fact, everyone deserves a snack" Upon saying that, the chef aimed the piping up… Before stomping hard on it, squirting out large amounts of nectar into the air.
The audience, including the candidates and Aggron, were covered in the stuff, while the excessive nectar slipped right off of Appletun thanks to it coming from him directly and his body having adapted to it.
"Whoa! We've been literally covered in some kind of syrup! It's… *licks*... Surprisingly delicious too! But what is Appletun's aim with this move? Whatever it is, I don't think Aggron likes it too much!" Gliscor announced.
Aggron looked at the nectar now covering his body, and the large puddles of it all over the arena, he felt sticky, humiliated, and most of all, angry at the hubris of this unremarkable chef.
"Disgusting…" Aggron said as he shook off some nectar off his body, but he was practically covered in it now that it was impossible to take it all off without bathing.
"You hurt me, this all came from me, I did it just for you~" Appletun teased, his kind did secrete all this fluid from their bodies, though it was considered a healthy delicacy, some would say that it is unhygienic or outright gross.
"I'll end you for covering me in such disgusting filth!" Aggron said, not tolerating anymore bullshit from Appletun before he began charging at his opponent with his battle ax.
Appletun charged back, and as the two met, Aggron began viciously swinging his weapon right at Appletun, who met it with his own spatula.
As Appletun's spatula met Aggron's weapon swing, he would find that there was a clear difference in their strength, and Aggron knew this. He wasn't made captain of the army for nothing.
So Appletun began sidestepping and following the direction of Aggron's attack while blocking to reduce the impact.
"You're exhausting yourself before we have our real fun you know~" Appletun said as he saw Aggron slowing down a bit, no doubt the nectar slowed his movements a bit.
"Shut… The fuck… UP!" Aggron said, as he missed again with his axe, crushing the ground where Appletun would have been as he stepped away from the attack.
"Now now, let's not get hasty, you haven't tasted my- Ack!" Appletun grunted as he realized that Aggron had caught his apron, letting go of the battle ax in favor of not letting his opponent escape.
Aggron now had an evil smirk on his face, as he now caught his opponent in a vice grip.
"YOUR WORTHLESS LIFE IS MINE!" Aggron screamed, letting out his rage as he used the spare hand he had to transform the ax embedded on the ground into a hammer.
"Shit…!" Appletun said as he began yanking on his apron, but he quickly realized Aggron was not letting go with how tight of a death grip he had, so he began taking his apron off, jumping away, only for Aggron to give chase by jumping after him, and swinging his hammer right into Appletun's large gut.
Appletun was sent flying across the other side of the arena, the force knocking the wind out of him as he used his spatula to barely slow himself down, before he nearly hit the wall.
"And that's the first blow! And it seems Appletun took quite a hit! Is our head chef in over his head? Or will he rise up and return the favor!?" Gliscor said as Appletun struggled to get up.
Appletun used his spatulas as leverage to get back up, he had to admit, the knight captain could pack quite a punch.
"Hmph… So he finally shows some balls" Corviknight thought to himself as he watched the match.
"I'll fucking break you" Aggron said threateningly as he struggled to transform his weapon, the nectar having covered the weapon as the nectar had managed to cover the weapon earlier as well.
Appletun chuckled as he watched Aggron turn his weapon into a twinblade, both ends having a sharp tip on both of them now that Aggron knew to prioritize speed to catch Appletun next time.
"Is your toy broken? Why don't I have a look at it" Appletun said as he stood tall and proud.
"You still have the gall to make a mockery of me? I will give you a reason to cry next!" Aggron said as his eyes became bloodshot from the anger.
"And the chef is still standing tall after that blow! Does this mean that the knight captain is falling off his famed strength?" Gliscor asked the audience.
The audience whispered amongst each other, about Aggron and how strong he was. Sure they thought he had this match taken care of at the beginning, but now they're not so sure with how this chef was dancing around him the whole time before that blow.
Never had Aggron felt such anger against someone, not even Corviknight. At the very least that fool had some level of respect for his strength, but this nobody was basically making him a laughing stock.
Aggron didn't bother running, and after that blow, he doubted that Appletun isn't as nimble as he once was as he began delivering fast strikes with the twinsword.
Appletun blocked the attacks, but at the very least now that Aggron was using a more speed reliant weapon, he can actually keep up with blocking the attacks this time.
Appletun managed to hit Aggron a few times, though it was hard to find an opening, he was able to hit him blunt on the back of the head and swing hard enough to make the knight captain's head turn from the strike.
Aggron however, had a more clear advantage now, as despite being hit, he was used to this pain, he would never lose to such an amateur like Appletun in a head on fight.
After recovering from a direct blow on his face, Aggron countered the attack by swinging his glaive right at Appletun, who tried to block the attack, but felt himself getting cut on the chest, tearing his chef's uniform from the slash and a bit of blood coming out as a result.
Aggron was not merciful and continued to attack, and Appletun could only try to make some distance between them, but the steel type won't let him escape, not this time.
"Looks like things are no longer looking good for Appletun. It was nice while it lasted but it looks like Appletun can't outwit the knight captain any longer!" Gliscor said, assuming the fight was gonna end soon.
"When I become king, I will make you a sexual pariah, a warning for any who cross me!" Aggron growled.
Appletun began side stepping against any nectar puddle he could find, flinging the syrupy substance right at Aggron, who just shrugged it all off.
"Your useless nectar will not save you from me. Step down and surrender, your life isn't even worth taking" Aggron growled, trying to scare him into submission.
"Where would be the fun in that? I haven't had this much fun in a while" Appletun said as he began getting a bit tired covering Aggron in the nectar, and resorted to slowing Aggron down by shoveling the nectar near his ankles.
"I told you it's useless, you would have had a chance at preserving what pathetic legacy you could have had… I've had enough of playing with you, now it's time to let you fade back to obscurity!" Aggron said, transforming his weapon, stretching it out as it became what could pass off as a long chain, and at the end of it, was a heavy weighted ball of metal.
"...!" Appletun prepared to try and block the attack as Aggron began swinging it around, building up momentum with the nectar-covered weapon.
No matter how much Appletun is going to dice it, that weapon had too much reach to dodge, and if that thing managed to wrap around his spatulas, Aggron could easily yank it out of his hands and disarm him, or worse, knock him out.
Aggron then swung the weapon, the heavy ball gaining momentum as it picked up speed as it rounded the air directly into Appletun's direction.
The audience gasped as the chain made contact with Appletun's spatula, as what seemed to be the finishing blow made contact… The tides turned in an instant.
Aggron's eyes widened as an electric current ran through his body, and he froze… Not because his body wouldn't allow him to, not because of paralysis but… The nectar was as hard as cement!
Aggron was stuck in that pose swinging his weapon, the nectar had hardened as soon as his weapon made contact with Appletun's.
"What… What the hell… Is this…!" Aggron yelled as he tried to move his body, but he wouldn't budge.
Aggron looked at Appletun, who had returned back to smiling, letting go of the other spatula as he ran around the arena and began flinging all the nearby leftover nectar on Aggron.
"Stop… Stop it… No!" Aggron said, as he kept getting covered by the soft nectar again.
The hardened nectar was cracking, as he began escaping again, only for Appletun to run in close range, delivering an electric shock with his spatula once more, giving him a much thicker casing of hardened nectar before repeating the whole process.
Gliscor was in shock by what was happening, he wasn't exactly sure what had happened.
"Aggron seems to be trapped by the nectar! What exactly is going on here? Either way, Appletun is taking advantage of it and covering him with more!" Gliscor said everyone watched Appletun keep trapping Aggron.
"No… No… NOOOOOOO! This isn't happening! This can't be HAPPENING!" Aggron was going berserk, using all the strength he had to escape, to break the nectar mold he was trapped in!
After feeling satisfied trapping Aggron, Appletun stood in front of the knight captain, a sinister and gentle smile.
Aggron was practically seething as Appletun took his face, the only part of his body that wasn't covered in the hardened nectar anymore.
"I told you, I'll relieve you of your duty. You are my knight now~" Appletun said in a bit of a mocking tone, kissing Aggron's forehead.
In response, Aggron roared, and began fighting the encasing he was in again… A minute passed… And another… Before the knight captain became exhausted, gritting his teeth now that he could no longer do anything.
"Our underdragon has done it! I can't believe it! The head chef has beaten the knight captain in single combat! It seems our dear captain's weapon couldn't adapt to this one folks! Let's give it up for Appletun!" Gliscor said, as the audience cheered.
Corviknight looked disappointed, he thought that for sure that he would be fighting Aggron during the tournament. But Corviknight no longer cared about him, if he was pathetic enough to lose to a chef, he was not worthy of his acknowledgment. Still… Appletun does prove to be a nuisance, but surely now he knew what to expect if he ever fought him.
"Tell us head chef! How did you do that with the nectar? Do we have to worry about getting stomach aches now?" Gliscor asked, though he was genuinely concerned when Appletun squirted out the nectar from the piping bag that he had tasted some of it.
"Don't worry, my spatulas were responsible for that. It would be quite shameful of me to use my nectar and harm the body with it. It would ruin my reputation after all" Appletun said as he scratched the back of his head in embarrassment.
"Oh? Then how come the nectar on Aggron's body had trapped him in a hard casing then?" Gliscor asked.
"It's my spatulas. I'm glad the king has no rules in this arena, because my spatulas have a slot on them where I put thunderstones. I was experimenting one day and thought to use electricity to cook with, and discovered my nectar hardens like cement. Not safe to be used for my dishes, but looks like I finally found my use for them. A bit of water can remove it though, so I'm glad that Aggron here isn't a washed up water type, hahahaha!" Appletun gave his thoughts to everyone.
Aggron could only grind his teeth in anger as everyone laughed.
"Any comments on your fight with Aggron?" Gliscor asked Appletun.
"Hmm… Well it was fun knowing I was toying with my new boy toy, and it was fun setting up everything before finishing him off. All in all, I describe the fight as… Stir fried!" Appletun told Gliscor.
"Unbelievable! Our head chef has planned this all out from the beginning! What an unexpected strategic fight only a head chef could have done!" Gliscor announced.
The crowd cheered, it was truly an entertaining fight, one that they'd never forget, especially since it was the first match.
"Now… It's… PUNISHMENT TIME! Appletun, you may do what you will with your opponent, and may keep him as your property for the rest of the tournament! That is if you lose… Well you get to be together with him should you lose to your next one!" Gliscor announced.
Some water type guards began entering the arena, using water gun on Aggron to free him, letting Aggron lay on the arena floor, cursing as his loss was so ridiculous that he'd rather die.
He felt himself become more enticed to follow Appletun for some reason, and immediately knew something was wrong.
The king's hand was raised in his direction, manipulating his mind to an extent, and before he could try to connect this strange new feeling, Appletun blocked his view, intent on reaping his reward.
