It was early morning for the Ketchum household, as Amari laid in his bed, restless.
After meeting Arceus for the first time, he couldn't get it out of his head; it was all he could think about.
'When your life depends on it...what did he mean by that when he said that...?'
'Am I going to die...?'
'Is someone else going to die...?'
He tossed and turned, trying to fall asleep, but to no avail.
"Ugh...fuck..." He cursed, looking at his clock.
5:25 AM.
He sighed, sitting up.
He stared at his Eevee, Tera, who was sleeping soundly beside him.
Sometimes, he wished he could be a Pokémon.
Free from having to worry about society's problems...
Being constantly taken care of and sleeping...
"...I already get all of that...what am I talking about...?" Amari said to himself, rubbing his temples.
Amari suddenly heard a chirp beside him.
"Eevee...?" Tera, Amari's Eevee spoke, tilting it's head.
"A-Ah, Tera...sorry if I woke you up, it's just..." Amari tried to speak, hesitating.
Tera sat up, crawling to Amari as she placed a paw on his lap.
"Eevee."She spoke, looking at her owner with a concerned expression.
"Can't even hide how I feel from you, huh?" Amari asked, a grim smile on his face.
He sighed, petting her.
"I'm just...lost, y'know?" He said. "I spent so much time hoping that I would meet him, so much it gave me anxiety, but after I finally met him...I just have so many questions in my head..." He continued, clenching his fists.
He was frustrated beyond belief, so much that it caused problems with his sleep.
Every question he asked seemed to be answered with something that just gave him more.
"Eevee!" Tera spoke, her voice snapping Amari out of his trance.
"Ah, sorry...got lost in thought there." He said, rubbing her head once more.
He looked at his clock once again.
6:07 PM.
'Maybe I should just get up early...'
Amari thought to himself, as he stood up from the bed and left his room, Tera following behind him.
The hallways were always quiet when it was nighttime or early morning.
And also extremely cold.
It reminded him of his old home...cold and lifeless.
"Ugh, I forgot how cold it gets up here during the night...should've brought my hoodie..." He said, shivering as he rubbed his arms.
"Eevee..."Tera said, narrowing her eyes at the boy for forgetting something he keeps on almost everyday.
Amari walked downstairs, eventually reaching the living room where he noticed...
"...Why are the lights still on...?" Amari asked in confusion, as he peeked around the wall...
...Which also gave him direct eye contact with Mewtwo.
He seemed like he was enjoying his time alone, too; He had a cup of tea next to him, the radio was on, and had a book in his hand.
"..."
'...'
"I-I can leave if you were busy-"
'No, I have a feeling if you're up, it can't be for such a simple reason.'
"Ah...well..."
Amari couldn't say anything to defend himself there.
He sighed, sitting down next to the psionic feline.
His Eevee also hopped up, staring at the book Mewtwo held in his hand.
'Can't sleep, I assume?' Mewtwo asked.
"Y-Yeah...I haven't really been getting much at all..." Amari said, frowning softly.
'Should I tell him about Arceus...?'
'Won't he get mad...?'
'I can read your thoughts, you know.'
Mewtwo spoke up, snapping Amari out of his trance.
His eyes widened, as a blush swept across his face.
"D-Don't just do that without telling me!" He exclaimed, embarrassed.
'Relax, unlike most Psychic-types, I value your privacy.' Mewtwo said, a look of annoyance on his face.
Amari sighed, regaining his composure.
"So...I'm guessing you want to know, then...?" He asked, avoiding eye contact.
'Yes.' Mewtwo said, being straight-forward.
The boy took a deep breath.
"Alright." He said, as he began explaining everything to the psychic.
As Mewtwo listened, he felt a lot of emotions.
Despite being prideful about his power, it's very clear that held Arceus in high regard.
After all, it was the literal God of Pokémon, and for some humans, technically.
That being said, him being able to talk to people in their dreams was the last thing he expected.
He understood that the Pokémon was a god, but being able to communicate in their subconsciousness?
It terrified him.
As Amari continued his explanation, he expressed anger at the fact he didn't tell everyone else after he woke up.But, he didn't yell at him, at least not yet.
He understood that in the moment, Amari probably wanted to have time to himself that day, especially after all that happened to him.
"And the last thing I asked him before I left was..."
When will I see you again?
When your life depends on it.
"...Then I woke up, and that brings us here." Amari said, finishing his explanation.
Mewtwo sat in silence, seemingly deep in thought.
'Hm...seems like things are starting to become much more serious than I initially assumed.' Mewtwo said, looking at the boy.
"Is...there anything we can do about it...?" Amari said, a desperate look on his face.
Mewtwo frowned, a rare, soft look on his face.
He could tell where the boy was coming from; He felt lost, unsure of what to do, and it affected his ability to rest.
The psionic feline took a deep breath, taking Amari's hands in his.
'We will do what we can, but for now, you need to rest.' Mewtwo said, his eyes glowing.
"But I can't sleep...what do you...mean..." Amari said, his eyes widening before they narrowed, eventually closing as he fell unconcious.
Mewtwo caught the boy before he fell over, sighing.
'Looks like another meeting is in order...'He said.
"Eevee!"Tera exclaimed, frowning at Mewtwo for doing something so reckless.
'Yes, I know he didn't expect it, but that doesn't matter. He needs to sleep, so get up and help me monitor him.' Mewtwo said in frustration, glaring at the Eevee.
"Eevee..." Tera muttered under her breath, following the psionic feline upstairs.
Amari has trouble sleeping, and finds himself telling Mewtwo about his experience meeting Arceus.
