Magic IntertwinedChapter 1
The Orphan House stood in disrepair, its age evident in the sagging roof and bulging walls. Wood planks had been haphazardly nailed over the windows, and leaks dripped from the ceilings. Inside, thirteen children called the Orphan House home, all siblings by the name of Dagworth: Anthea, Bartleby, Cassandra (who preferred to be called Cass), Deirdre, Emilio, Felicity, Grace, Hiram, Iris, Jasmine, Kevin, Lily, and Mary.
Anthea, the eldest, prided herself on her attention to detail and logical thinking. Bartleby had a passion for psychology, often pondering the intricacies of human behavior. Cass, generally quiet, observed everything around her without feeling the need to speak much. Deirdre found joy in drawing, her sketches capturing the essence of their surroundings. Emilio often lost himself in daydreams of fairies and magic.
Felicity and Grace, identical twins with striking brown eyes and hair, shared a unique bond, frequently finishing each other's sentences. Hiram, Iris, Jasmine, Kevin, Lily, and Mary, all the same age, shared a common discontent: they were not allowed to explore the nearby town of Godric's Hollow.
Godric's Hollow was a peculiar place, imbued with an electric sense of magic in the air. Whispers suggested that actual wizards and witches lived among the townsfolk. The Orphan House children had never encountered them, but they found the Winters siblings particularly intriguing. The Winters clan consisted of five siblings: Seamus, Terry, Justin, Ernie, and Evelyn. Seamus, the oldest, led the quadruplets, with Terry following closely, then Ernie, and finally Justin, the youngest. Rumored to be blind, Justin navigated the world as if he could see, his confidence a mystery to the others. Evelyn, the youngest, was well-liked in the neighborhood, effortlessly drawing friends from all around.
Cass had heard whispers about the Winters' tragic past—rumors that their parents had died in a war, leaving the children to fend for themselves. While the truth remained uncertain, it only added to their allure. Evelyn was particularly popular, surrounded by a close-knit group of friends that included Lucas Thompson, Logan Daniels, Felicity Rivers, Cleo and Ophelia Idlewild, Flora, Fauna, Denise, Gabriel Summers, and Leon Holder. Even the children from the Orphan House couldn't help but be drawn to her warmth and charm. With her smooth skin, turquoise eyes that shifted like the sea, and strawberry-blonde hair, Evelyn embodied an enchanting beauty.
Bartleby often wondered about the nature of Evelyn's friendships. Although she kept many things under wraps, it was no secret that she was dating Lucas Thompson, even though she was only two. Lucas, at four, was part of a culture in Godric's Hollow where young people often began dating early.
Cass had always liked Seamus Winters but felt a pang of jealousy when she saw him hanging out with Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown. He also spent considerable time with his friends Dean Thomas and Harry Potter. Meanwhile, Terry Winters formed connections with Padma Patil, Lily Moon, Michael Corner, Anthony Goldstein, and Kevin Entwhistle, stirring Cass's curiosity and longing.
Justin Winters enjoyed the company of Susan Bones, Hannah Abbott, Wayne Hopkins, and Stephen Cornfoot, while Ernie Winters spent much of his time with Daphne Greengrass, Pansy Parkinson, Theodore Nott, and Blaise Zabini. Each sibling forged their own connections, weaving a tapestry of friendships that left Cass both intrigued and envious. The Winters family continued to expand their social circle, leaving the curious Dagworth family in their wake.
One day, Bartleby cautiously approached Seamus, who was entertaining a large group of friends. Seamus replied, "I'll see about it; we may ally with each other in the foreseeable future." Bartleby left with a pounding headache, not understanding what Seamus meant.
