Chapter 2: Explanation to the Southern Air Temple

Appa flies through the air, defying physics with his large body, six legs and tail with a group seated on his saddle. Sokka, Katara and Aang look at Jake seated at the back of Appa, looking behind them, Silence surrounds the group as the three look at Jake in curious and slight fear.

What was he? What is his strange outfit? How did he become a firebender?

Who is Jake Heller?

There was an awkward silence between them, Jake signs knowing they have many questions about him.

"Alright, you have questions, ask them" Jake said, turning back to face them, ready to answer their questions. Taking a chance, Katara was the first to ask.

"Who are you?" Katara asked the most important question.

"My name is Jake Heller Mercer, my mother and father were Abigail and Gabriel Mercer" Jake explains who he is, wanting to get that out of the way.

"Are you a firebender?" Aang asked, a little worried Jake is another fire bender out to get him but he shakes his head.

"No ... .well I wasn't until now" Jake tries to explain but Sokka starts to freak out and act hysterical.

"What do you mean 'until now'?! What the heck was that think with the claws and your arm going all long and red and bloooo raaaaa seeessss" Sokka waves his hand and trying to mimic the thing Jake did, Jake chuckles at Sokka copying him and lifts his hand up, slowly changing it out his claws, scaring them a little.

"I was given a virus, called the Blacklight Virus created by my uncle, Alex Mercer, he used him as a test subject to create a weapon" Jake explains to them.

"Virus?...like your… sick or something?" Aang asked, confused at what Jake was saying.

"Yes but no, the virus can re-purposes and changes my cells. The new cell replicates with formerly dormant non-encoding regions active, causing drastic biological changes" Jake states, turning his claws into his blade,

"What?" All three didn't understand a word he said, Jake signs as he thinks about how to explain it in a way they can understand.

"Ok the sickness made me ... .different…I can body…bend ... .my flesh and bones into whatever I think of" Jake explains in a way they could understand.

"Body bender? so you control you…ah" Katara tries to say as Jake nods, Sokka looking curious at it as he touches the sword like an arm.

"So your arms can become weapons….that really cool magic power" Sokka states, tracing the blade as Jake pulls back.

"No magic Sokka but science" Jake states, Aang looks unsure.

"But firebend back at the boat ... .when they burn you and you ... .kill them" Aang looked more and more uncomfortable at the mention of that.

"Yes I'm sorry you had to see that, the virus makes me stronger by consume others, taking they body, shape and memories" Jake explains, the three jump in surprise and disgust seeing Jake shapeshifting into different people before them, turning into a lovely woman, then an old man then the firebender he consumed.

"I hunt, I kill, I consume, I become." Jake states to them, turning back to his old form.

"My own uncle made me less than human." Jake said sadly, looking at his hands.

"But something more" Jake said coldly, tightening his fist, turning them into his hammerfist.

"As for how I became a firebender." Jake snapped his fingers as fire appear in his hands, holding it up like a cradle, showing them the flame

"Every living thing I consume makes me stronger. I gain whatever memoires and now their powers" Jake explains, extinguishing the flame.

"So, how many people did you…" Aang couldn't finish his question because the thought of killing goes against everything he was ever taught.

"Many lets live it at that" Jakes looks down in shame, recalling everyone one he kills, seeing all their memories, knowing who everyone is and what they have done in life, their families and loved ones left behind.

"All this from…your uncle?" Katara asked him, seeing his uncle created what Jake is now.

"My uncle was a scientist, a really smart man that created the virus for the government, my people's government at least, he wanted a perfect host to test it out, find it in his own blood" Jake explains looks down.

"But he found a better host further in his bloodline" Jake spoke out.

"You" Katara spoke out.

"Yes, he said his DNA matched it better with the Blacklight then his own, so he had men take me from my parents" Jake said to them.

"Your parents didn't say this?" Sokka asked him, thinking of his parents who have done something.

"He had them killed to get to me" Jake states to their shock, looking at the sky.

"So I took my revenge, taking down everyone that had to do with the virus and took them all down, one by one until I came down to that last one who made it" Jake explains his story to them.

"Your uncle," Aang asked him.

"You know what he said to him after I killed him?" Jake asked, looking at them.

"'Welcome to the top of the food chain' his greatest accomplishment, his nephew, his own monster that to end it creator" Jake said, looking down in anger and sorrow before turning to them.

"I found myself in the ice after a massive explosion, and the rest is history" Jake said, not going into details on how he's from another universe or dimension, he doubts they would understand half of what he's saying.

Katara, Sokka, and Aang look at him with sorrow and conflict. This man became a monster by his own uncle after killing his parents. Now a man that lost his way after killing the man that was his family.

"Thank you for the ride…..if you drop off somewhere. I promise you never see me again" Jake states to them, going to leave somewhere and never be seen again. Perhaps he will hide in the woods or find a cave somewhere, away from humanity.

"You did many terrible things Jake…..but you had no choice, turning you into something you're not" Aang said, going forward to him and patting his back.

"You not a monster Jake" Aang said, hugging him to Jake's shock, Katara joins in.

"What you uncle did was unforgivable, and you did what you had to" Katara said, giving him a hug as well with Sokka patting his back.

"Yeah Jake, your body bending is gross but kinda cool turning your arms into weapons, wish I could do that" Sokka said to him, Jake looks unsure and signs.

"Thank you guys" Jake slightly relieved they didn't reject or throw him off Appa, he wouldn't blame them, as they back off.

"But no more killing Jake" Aang said, making Jake sign at him, looking at himself.

"I can't promise that Aang, it's in my nature ... .keep it to a minimum if I can, especially during this war" Jake said to him, looking at Aang.

Making him look down at the mention of the war.

"Yeah that war" Aang looked at Katara turning to him.

"Why didn't you tell us you were the Avatar?" Katara asked him, now turning to Aang.

"Because…..I never wanted to be" Aang looks down, everyone looks at Aang looking down.

"Aang, the worlds been waiting for you for a hundred years, to put an end to this war" Katara said to him.

"How do I do that?" Aang asked her, Katara looked at him.

"Legend said you master water, earth then fire" Katara recalling the legend of the Avatar, him nodding in agreement.

"Then we'll go to the North Pole and find you a water bending master" Katara said, Aang turns to her.

"We'll go together" Aang said in excitement, Katara smiled at Sokka.

"And Sokka, bet you knock out some fire nation head on the way" Katara teased him, Sokka smiled.

"I like that, I like that a lot" Sokka wants to do it, but he turns to Jake, both Aang and Katara turn to him as well.

"You want me to join you?" Jake asked them in shock after telling them what he is still letting him join them?

"We rather not do the consuming thing in front of us…but if you can control it, the fire nation won't know what hit them" Sokka states with a smile while Aang frowns at Jake's need to consume.

"I won't hold it against you Jake, but I rather you not do it in front of me" Aang said, not being able to stomach what Jake needs to do with Katara nods, Jake looks at them.

"While I promise not to be too crazy, if you plan to fight the fire nation, your going have to be use to violence Avatar, cause the fire nation won't go down easy" Aang nod in understanding.

"Then we're in this together!" Katara nodded. Aang pulled out a rolled up scroll,

"Alright, but before we learn Waterbending, we have some serious business to attend to." He used Airbending to situate himself onto the saddle and unrolled the scroll, revealing a map of the Avatar World, "Here, here and here."

"What's there?" Katara pondered.

Aang pointed to each location, "Here, we'll ride the hopping llamas. Then waaay over here, we'll surf on the backs of giant koi fish." The three stare at him in confusion.

"Then back over here, we'll ride the hog monkeys" The siblings and infected glanced at each other "They don't like people riding them but that's what makes it fun!"

Aang smiled enthusiastically, his eyes widened with excitement. Jake shakes his head, forgetting that the so-called avatar and savour of the world is still a kid.

LINE

Jake signs as he seats down on the cliffs, feeling the morning sun's rays hitting his face. Appa chewed on some grass on their campsite while the smoke of the nearby campfire raised to the sky. Someone was lying in a blue sleeping bag next to the Fire. Aang and Katara sat atop Appa. Aang was sitting on the bison's head and was checking the knots that tied the reins to Appa's horns. Katara was sitting on the saddle and fiddling with their luggage.

"Wait 'till you see it Katara! The Air Temple is one of the most beautiful places in the world!" Aang excited to be back home after 100 years has passed, Jake shakes his head.

After traveling around and riding a few wild animals Aang wanted to head back home to the Southern Air Temple.

"Aang, I know you're excited," Katara cautioned as she turned around to face him, "But it's been a hundred years since you've been home."

"That's why I'm so excited!"

"It's just...a lot can change in all that time."

"I know, but I need to see it for myself," Aang replied as he jumped off of Appa. Katara shook her head as Aang went over to wake up the sleeping Sokka. She turned to see Jake looking over the cliffs.

"You alright Jake?" Katara asked him, Jake nodded.

"Fine, I'm worried about Aang" Jake states, looking at Aang holding a stick.

"I know, I can't imagine going to my home after 100 years has past" Katara said,

"I can" Jake said, already knowing what they are going to see with the firebender's memory, the history of Firelord Sozin using a comet to destroy all Airbenders.

"Sokka! Wake up!" Aang shouted as he moved a stick up and down the sleeping bag, only touching Sokka with the tip of it, "There's a prickle snake in your sleeping bag!"

Sokka lazily opened one eye before yelling out in horror, "Ahh!" He quickly raised and hopped around, still in sleeping bag, "Get it off! Get it off!" After two hops, Sokka slammed flat on the ground, "Ahh!"

Katara giggles as Sokka falls over. Jake just gave a slight chuckle as he shook his head. Sokka growled as he glared up at the happy Aang.

"Great! You're awake! Let's go!" Aang being over cheerful, everyone getting on Appa's saddle.

Aang and Katara sat atop Appa's head while Sokka and Jake were back in the saddle. Sokka clutched his stomach at it growled, his face showing a look of dismay all over

"Hey, stomach? Be quiet, alright? I'm trying to find us some food," Sokka tried to calm it down.

"Aang used the last of our food, the blubbered seal-jerky, to light our fire," Jake pointed out.

"What?-! Aang!" Sokka cried out.

"Oh. That was food?" Aang asked with a hint of regret before grinning, "I used it to start the campfire last night. Sorry." Sokka glares at Jake.

"Why didn't you start the fire?" Sokka asked the now firebender Jake, seeing he easier starts ever fire, Jake looked at him.

"I had to consume, found a wild honey badger bear, that was a interesting fight" Jake states, every now and then leaves the group to refill his biomass with wild animals, you heard the phase Honey Badgers don't give a shit, well honey badger bear a fuckin insane.

"Aw man…No wonder the flames smelled so good~…" Sokka slumped as Appa flew past and ascended a range of mountains.

"The Patola Mountain range! We're almost there!" Aang exclaimed with excitement.

"Aang, before we get to the temple, I want to talk to you about the Airbenders," Katara spoke.

"You don't understand, Katara. The only way to get to an Airbender Temple is on a Flying bison, and I doubt the Fire Nation has any flying bison," Aang argued cheerfully as he caressed Appa's head, "Right Appa?" Appa roaring back in response.

"Yip yip!" Appa's flight went up the mountain and through the clouds. Appa turned out of sight behind the flank of a mountain and emerged from behind that flank and turned further towards the sky.

Aang held on to the reins tightly as Appa rapidly ascended while Katara, whose eyes were closed, and Sokka held on to Appa's fur and saddle respectively while Jake was cool as a cucumber. Aang looked back for a moment to his passengers. Appa flew over a last ridge that was covered with trees, revealing a large temple as Appa's floats toward it.

"There it is. The Southern Air Temple," Aang declared.

"Aang, it's amazing!" Katara awed.

"We're home, buddy! We're home!" Aang's eyes squinted a bit in happiness.

Appa landed at the base of a snow covered stairs. Four small figures made their way up the mountain trail, the lead figure, Aang, running up them. He excitedly looked back at the two siblings and the infected behind. As the three emerged from behind a corner, Aang ran ahead.

"So when do I get something to eat?" Sokka asked as he clutched his stomach with both hands, the bags under his eyes were darker and he had a very annoyed look on his face.

"You're lucky enough to be one of the first outsiders to ever visit an Airbender temple, and all you can think about is food?" Katara demanded.

"I'm just a simple guy, with simple needs," Sokka shrugged, Jake nodded.

"I can respect that" Jake states, as Aang pointed at something in front of him while they approached.

"So that's where my friends and I would play Airball," Aang informed as he pointed at a stadium consisting of many tall poles, "And over there is where the bison would sleep and…"

Aang sighed, looking sadly at the deserted remains of his home.

"What's wrong?" Katara asked.

"This place used to be full of monks and lemurs and bison. Now there's just a bunch of weeds," Aang's eyes squinted with sadness as his clothes fluttered in the wind, a dead tree at each side of him, "I can't believe how much things have changed."

Katara and Sokka glanced at each other and gave a nod. They quickly approached Aang.

"So uh, this Airball game. How do you play?" Sokka asked.

"It sounds like an interesting game," Saito added, 'We are getting our bums beat by Aang…'

Katara smiled at her brother and new friend. Aang's face cleared up as he smiled, looking at the two teens from the corners of his eyes. Minutes later, Sokka looked concentrated while standing on a pole and guarding the goal of the Airball court. Aang also stood on one of the tall poles on the other side, suspending a hollow ball in the air with Airbending.

He let the ball roll over his shoulders, tossed it from side to side and then lazily tossed it up in the Air. He looked and smiled innocently at the Sokka. He released a blast of Air that sent the ball at Sokka. Sokka screamed before the ball hit him right in the stomach. The speed of impact sent Sokka and the ball flying backwards, right towards the rotation door of the goal behind him.

Aang laughed as he jumped up in joy. Aang held a hand above their eyes to make out where Sokka landed.

"Aang seven!" Aang formed a Zero with his hands and made a circular movement with his whole body, "Sokka zero!"

Sokka lay in the dirt, a twig lying on his head while he looked a bit miserable. Katara looking over at her brother, not sure whether to feel sorry or laugh at the predicament

"Making him feel better is putting me in a world of hurt," Sokka mumbled in pain as he erected himself, looking annoyed at Jake smiling at him.

"You could have helped me beat him" Sokka grunts getting out of the snow, Jake shrugs.

"Not an airbender Sokka, and neither are you" Jake points out. Before Sokka could respond his eyes widened when he saw something in front of him and he crawled to the front. It was an old Fire Nation helmet lying in the snow, battered by the elements and showed signs of cracked and burns. He looked up at his sister and was infected.

"Katara, Jake, check this out." Sokka called them over.

"Fire Nation." Katara states

"We should tell him." Sokka said,

"Aang over here" Jake calls out to him, getting Aang's attention.

Katara turns to see Aang coming over. Katara's determined look to tell Aang the truth shifted to one of insecurity. She glanced at the helmet and back at Aang.

Suddenly, she shifted her weight and brought her arms up. With one swift movement, she swung her arms around, making the overhanging snow to fall down, obscuring the helmet and Sokka from sight. After a few seconds, a Sokka covered in snow poked his head out.

"What is it" Aang asked, and Katara stepped forward.

"Just a new waterbender trick I learn" Katara protecting Aang from the truth, Jake disproves of her action.

"Ok, come on I want to show you something" Aang states, running towards the temple with Sokka getting out of the snow.

"You know, you can't protect him forever," Sokka mumbled before shaking the snow off his body. As they follow the young avatar. Sokka, Jake, and Katara stood at the entrance of the courtyard while Aang ran ahead excitedly.

"Katara, Firebenders were here. You can't pretend they weren't," Sokka scolded with his arms crossed.

"I can for Aang's sake. If he finds out the Fire Nation invaded his home, he'll be devastated," Katara added, Jake shakes his head.

"Best to rip that Band-Aid off at this point" Jake sees it better to just tell the kid.

"Hey guys!" The trio looked up to see Aang standing in front of a statue of a monk, turning around and pointing toward it, "I want you to meet somebody!"

"Who's that?" Sokka asked.

"Monk Gyatso! The greatest Airbender in the world. He taught me everything I know." Aang bowed to the statue of an elderly man with a mustache and a distinct round necklace sitting in lotus with his fists bumped to each other in front of him.

Aang as he erected himself with a sad look upon his face.

"You must miss him," Katara sympathized as she placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Yeah," Aang replied, downcast, as he walked away.

"Where are you going?" Katara pondered. Jake signs, ignoring the conversations as they follow Aang inside the fall to see a large pair of double doors. The round symbol of intertwined Air currents, the national symbol of the Air Nomads, was largely embedded in the floor, surrounded by two square shapes that form some sort of sun together.

The door supported a combination of metal colored pipes and three, blue, rolled up, pipes that were similar looking and arranged like the symbol for Airbending. The large wooden door was framed by the branches of an old tree standing on the left of it and the hallway was illuminated by sunlight that fell through little round windows.

"But Aang, no one could have survived there for a hundred years." Katara tries to reason with him

"It's not impossible," Aang opened his arms, "I survived in the iceberg for that long."

"You really shouldn't have" Jake points out, there is no way a human can survive being a frozen soldier for a 100 years.

"Katara, Jake, whoever's in there might help figure out this Avatar thing!" Aang beamed excitedly.

"And whoever's in there might have…" Sokka begins as Katara's look changes to one of annoyance, Sokka's look on determined, anticipating face growing, "…A medley of delicious…" He rubbed his hands together and practically started to drool over the thought, "…Cured meats!"

Jake's face palmed in annoyance. He could practically see Sokka drooling a river of slobber from the thoughts of meat dancing in his noggin. Full of anticipation and longing, Sokka charged towards the door, but it wouldn't budge and he just smacked into it, head first. Sokka quickly turned around and put his back to it, trying to push the giant door open.

"Come on Sokka, you can do it" Jake laughing at Sokka trying to open the door, not caring about Katara glare at him

"I don't suppose you have a key?" Sokka asked.

"The key, Sokka, is Airbending," Aang replied. Aang took a deep breath. He spread his arms and thrust them forward, sending an Air current into both of the tubes on the door. The wind made one of the blue curled tubes turn around.

When it did, the tube changed colors to purple and the wind blew out like a horn. The process was repeated for the other two blue tubes as well. When the three blue tubes turned around and became purple, the doors began to slowly open up. The door cracked open and light penetrated the dark room behind them.

"Hello?" Aang called as the four walked into the sanctuary, "Anyone home?"

Aang, Jake, Katara, and Sokka ventured further down into the sanctuary. The only light came from the open door behind them and illuminated the scene with bluish light. Sokka held a hand to his brow to look up ahead. In the room were a large number of statues of people, lined up in a spiral pattern. Sokka halted before one of them.

"Statues? That's it? Where's the meat?" Sokka complained.

"Who are all of these people?" Katara pondered.

"I'm not sure. But it feels like I know them somehow," Aang replied, "Look!" Aang pointed at a statue of a male Airbender monk, "That one's an Airbender."

"And this one's a Waterbender," Katara pointed at one after the Airbender statue, "They're lined up in a pattern: Air, Water, Earth and Fire."

"That's the Avatar Cycle!" Aang realized.

"Of course. They're Avatars. All these people are your past lives, Aang."

"Wow! There are so many!" Aang starts to walk down the circular pattern, Jake looks at all the lives Aang has lived, how much memory would he have compared to himself.

"Past lives? Katara, you really believe in that stuff?" Sokka snorted.

"It's true," Katara argued as Aang stood before a statue of an elderly Firebender, "When the Avatar dies, he's reincarnated into the next nation in the cycle."

"Reincarnated over and over again, no rest" Jake says, seeing how the Avatar spirit can never be laid to rest, must always come back and fix whatever problem the world is facing. The four were started by a noise.

They turned around to the entrance. A long-eared, bulky shadow of another being approaching them appeared from the light. Katara and Aang hid behind a statue on the left and Sokka, who was holding his club ready, hid behind a statue to the right with Jake. The shadow crept closer. Katara's teeth clenched in fright while Aang looked in front of him. Sokka held his hand to his mouth as he addressed them.

"Firebender. Nobody makes a sound."

"You're making a sound!" Katara snapped quietly.

"Shut it" Jake whispered. Katara looked scared in front of her again as the shadow crept closer. Sokka raises his club as Jake starts to grow his claws.

"That Firebender won't know what hit him," Sokka whispered. The shadow reached the bases of the statues and revealed a small figure standing in the doorway. Sokka's club was ready, but lowered it as soon as he saw it was an animal. Aang and Katara peek from behind their statue as well.

They heard a chattering sound. Looking to see a lemur with large bat-like ears sitting down, the ears lowered, blinking at the appeared before them.

"Lemur!" Aang exclaimed excitedly.

"Dinner!" Sokka drooled as the lemur pricked his ears and slightly tilted his head.

"Don't listen to him. You're going to be my new pet," Aang spoke comfortingly.

"Not if I get him first!" Sokka barked as he stretched his hand while he excitedly lunged himself at the animal from behind the statue. Aang ran up to the lemur as well. The lemur arched his back in fright, his ears, hair and tail standing upright as the snatching hands of the boys drew closer.

"They never learn do they" Jake states, making Katara signs watching them chase the lemur as Jake looks at all these statues.

"You really believe in this Katara? This reincarnation?" Jake asked her, looking at each statue.

"That was the legends say, after one avatar past another one born of the next nation takes their place" Katara explains looking at each statue.

"But Aang didn't pass, he was frozen for 100 years, is the next avatar born after the death of the last, is that why the fire nations after your home?" Jake asked him, Katara thought for a second.

"Maybe, never thought of it like that" Katara thinking about it now, seeing the next Avatar would be born into water if Aang were to pass.

"Wonder who would be the next Avatar if Aang wasn't frozen?" Jake wanders around the place, looking at Katara before turning to the statues.

LINE

Katara was walking down the circular pattern of statues, and looked at the statue of Avatar Roku. She gasped in surprise as a bluish, white light illuminates her face; it seemed to come from the statue. Its eyes were gleaming before the bright light spread to the other statues and one by one, their eyes started to gleam, making their way up to the top of the sanctuary.

"Aang!" Katara gasped as she turned around and spirited away, as Jake found her at the entrance.

"Come on" Jake holds his arm, Katara jumps on his back as he quickly runs to where the glow comes from.

"Aang! Come on! Snap out of it!" Sokka screamed as he held up his arm to protect himself against the raging winds.

Suddenly, the air sphere around Aang expanded and sent Sokka flying backwards, screaming. The roof exploded by the force of the hurricane and debris was catapulted high into the air, Sokka almost hit a wall when Jake caught him.

"You're welcome," Jake snorted, Katara jumped off him.

The air sphere expanded into a raging tornado with Aang in its center. Sokka peeked at Aang from behind a rock with Jake. Katara walked up to them, holding her protectively before her face.

"What happened?"

"He found Gyatso remains, he knows the fire nations was here" Sokka yells out

"I'm going to try and calm him down!" Katara called as she began to make her way towards Aang.

"Well, do it! Before he blows us off the mountain!" Sokka screamed as he held onto Jake, who smashes the ground to keep himself from flying off.

Katara fought the storm to get to Aang. The sphere of wind that engulfed Aang slowly started to rise in the Air. Katara was pushed back by the strong wind currents that filled the remains of the building as the sphere ascended higher and higher, the necklace upon the skeleton of Gyatso tickling in unison with the wind.

Aang suspended in the air in his sphere. Strong winds were rampaging through the rubble of the destroyed building. Katara and Sokka were holding on to Jake for dear life, trying not to get blown away. As Jake stabs the ground with his claws, keeping him from flying off.

Katara began to try and get closer to the Avatar.

"Aang! I know you're upset and I know how hard it is to lose the people you love. I went through the same thing when I lost my mom," Katara called out, "Monk Gyatso and the other Airbenders may be gone, but you still have a family. Sokka, Jake, Appa, and I!" Sokka opened his eyes and glanced at his sister as Jake nodded.

Aang began to descend. Sokka, Jake, and Katara watched him lower himself back to the ground; the winds started to die down and the Air sphere that surrounded Aang disappeared.

The four pulled up next to him, one on each side.

"Katara, Jake, and I aren't going to let anything happen to you. Promise," Sokka vowed with Jake nodding.

Katara took Aang's hand, the glowing fading away the moment she did. He slanted his eyes with a saddened expression, before he collapsed from exhaustion in Katara's arms

"I'm sorry," Aang apologized, tired and depressed.

"It's okay. It wasn't your fault," Katara comforted.

"But you were right. And if the Firebenders found this temple, that means they found the other ones, too. I really am the last Airbender." Katara hugs Aang tightly. Sokka placed a hand on Aang's shoulder. Jake nodded as he patted Aang's other shoulder.

All comforting the last airbender.

LINE

Aang stood in front of Roku's statue again as Katara pulled up next to him.

"Everything's packed. Are you ready to go?" Katara asked.

"How is Roku supposed to help me if I can't talk to him?" Aang pondered.

"Maybe you'll find a way," Katara replied.

They glanced at each other when they heard something behind them. They turned around to see the flying lemur carrying some fruits.

The animal jumped to the right, towards where Sokka and Jake were standing. The animal reached Sokka's feet and dropped a variety of fruits. The lemur quickly dashed away as Sokka sat down and started to stuff his face with the fruit, taking large bites of two different pieces of fruit. Aang and Katara just smiled at the two.

"Looks like you made a new friend, Sokka!" Aang beamed as Sokka pushed the food in his mouth with his two hands.

"Can't talk! Must eat!" Sokka took another big bite.

The flying lemur climbed onto Aang and hid behind his head, his tail curled around Aang's neck.

"Hey, little guy!" Aang beamed.

Aang walked outside where Appa was.

"You, me and Appa; we're all that's left of this place," Aang looked at the lemur, "We have to stick together. Katara, Jake, Sokka, say hello to the newest member of our family"

"What are you going to name it?" Katara pondered just as Sokka was about to take another bite of the peach he was eating when the lemur swiped it and flew over to Aang.

"Momo."

Sokka, still standing there, mouth open and hand in front of his mouth, ready to take a bite, however, he had no peach anymore. The others started to laugh upon seeing Sokka's expression. Later, the group was finishing loading up as they took their leave.
