Cole POV: When we finally got to the Monastery I helped Zane, Pixal, and Nya move Kai to his room. He was a bit woozy from a sedative that Pixal gave him so we had to go slow. Though what really had me worried was how Zane and Pixal looked. They both looked a little somber, but focused on Kai and keeping him stable until he was in his bed. I know that a part of it is because of… what happened, but I think something else happened. I stayed silent, though, and focused on Kai.
Eventually we had him laying on the bed with all the medical equipment set up. Jay and Lloyd had to go and inform Master Wu what had happened. Of course we didn't forget to tell him beforehand. We're not that careless. Please note the sarcasm. However, I noticed that Kai was a little pale. Zane noticed this too and double checked with a scan. As he did, Nya went over to his other side and gently rubbed his back.
Zane finished his scan fast and said, "Kai, it seems the injuries on your arms have been agitated, causing you some discomfort. However, that should be fixed with a proper cleaning."
He nodded and answered back, "Alright." The slight pain was obvious in his voice.
Nya, who also heard it, stayed right next to him as Pixal and Zane both took an arm. I didn't want to leave just right and took Zane's place. Though I had to remind myself about his stab wound before I accidentally touched it.
When they started unwrapping the last bandage Kai closed his eyes and let out a soft grunt. Nya and I tried to comfort him, but I noticed that she was distracted by the sight of his arms. And I have to admit, it wasn't a pretty sight. The swelling and redness had gone down, making the chain marks more apparent. Not to mention the burns around his hands looked very painful. Though the shakiness wasn't obvious anymore, that's really good.
But Kai still whimpered a little as they put the medicine on it. Nya whispered some comforting words and I gently gripped his shoulder. He leaned back a little and groaned softly. It's so weird seeing him react to his injuries. Normally, he would try to hide everything so that we wouldn't worry. I used to think that was stupid, but now…
Finally Zane and Pixal finished. As they wrapped his arms again Pixal asked, "Is that better?"
Kai opened his eyes a little and answered her. "Yeah, a bit." He sounded exhausted, with a bit of pain still.
"Understood. Is there anything else you need?" She asked, putting away some of her supplies. But Kai just shook his head a little.
Zane cleaned up and looked at Nya and I. "I believe it would be best to allow Kai to reset for now. It has been a long day and he does need it."
Nya didn't like that, and looked down at her brother. But Zane was right, and Kai was already halfway there. So she nodded and once Kai was out we all left. However, once we were far enough away I stopped them by standing in front of them.
"Okay, what happened?" I asked, getting to the point. Nya was confused by my question, but Zane and Pixal weren't.
"Perhaps we can talk about this another time. We have other responsibilities to take care of first." Zane tried to suggest, but I didn't budge.
"Zane, something happened, I can see it in your face. And I'm guessing it has something to do with Kai. So just say it." The second I said that Nya also looked at them with her 'wanting answers' glare.
"Did something happen?" She asked, crossing her arms.
Zane and Pixal shared a look before they both sighed softly. Then Pixal spoke up first, "We did want to speak with Master Wu first for advice. However…"
"Before arriving Kai experienced a nightmare that we believe is related to his lost memories." Zane cut to the chase, and I got a pit in my stomach.
"...How bad was it?" Nya asked, quietly. I think a part of her didn't want to know the answer. But we both needed to hear it.
"He was clearly terrified in his sleep, and when he finally woke up he was still too panicked to realize that he was safe. It took us approximately five minutes and forty-two seconds to bring him back." Pixal answered for Zane.
Nya and I shared a worried look. Nightmares like that are usually a sign that certain memories are coming back. And if he was that panicked from just one… That wasn't helping the giant wave of dread that was coming.

Lloyd POV: Jay and I filled Master Wu on what happened, and he just sat there quietly. But it was obvious that he was thinking since he was stroking his beard. It was a little too quiet for me, and clearly for Jay too, but we both waited for him to speak.
Finally he asked, "And Kai does not remember, correct?"
"That's what he said, and we all believe him." Jay answered, and Master Wu nodded.
"This is a serious event, and he is going to need support from all of us." Wu stated. I fully agree with him, we all did.
But he looked at me and asked another question. "Lloyd, is something else on your mind? Something seems to be bothering you." He caught me off-guard, but he was right
I should've known better than to hold it back. "Well, I'm worried that when, or if, Kai gets his memories… That it might break him. We're all having a hard time just thinking about it. But Kai went through it, lived it, and doesn't remember. Despite all the pain he's in, he has that comfort. I don't want him to lose that." Jay even slowly nodded in agreement, and Wu sighed softly in response.
"I understand your feelings here. I also know that you wish for Kai to remain as he is. However, you also have to remember that there are things out of your control. What you can control is your own involvement in his recovery. Be at his side throughout everything, and he will come back." He advised, and it did give me some comfort.
I was going to say something, but he continued, "You also should remember that this is Kai. He has gone through many traumatic things and returned stronger than before. I have no doubt that he will rise above again."
…He was right, again. Kai was too strong and stubborn to not try. Though, I can't help feeling like things are going to get worse before they get better.
