If there was anything that Vegeta Yonsei would like to erase forever, it was these darn memories he was dreaming right now.
He dreamt of a part of his past, something he hoped he won't remember ever again. It's not like he hated all of these memories, in fact, these were the happiest moments he had since he became the God of Destruction of the Seventh Universe.
But...
Chapter 32: The Repressed Memories
This occurred 1,239 years ago, on a planet called Terra Eresei, a planet which was uncannily similar to Earth that was located within the depths of the Eastern Galaxy. This small world suffered a year of pestilence. The people's food and water supply were scarce due to the crops being ravaged, farm animals were sick, and bodies of water almost dried up due to the intense heat. Thinking that it was due to the God of Destruction's anger, the people planned to do a summoning ritual and beg for him to uplift the divine punishment they believe he bestowed upon them. The myth the people of Terra Eresei say that blood sacrifices can end the destroyer deity's insatiable wrath. Whenever a calamity such as this happens on the planet, a seven-year old girl is chosen to be offered to the God of Destruction and be a sacrifice.
Vegeta was taking a nap on the mountain where the guardian deity of Terra-Eresei known as Gevo, dwelled. The massive, nature-loving, orange-haired god welcomed him willingly in his territory, introducing himself to the new God of Destruction for it has been 500 years since the people's summoning ritual was last done and Vegeta had only been the Hakaishin for 261 years. He allowed Vegeta to take his time to roam around the planet and make his observations until he could decide its fate. Vegeta arrived on that planet heeding the call coming from several spirits of innocent seven-year-old children sacrificed in the name of the destroyer deity in the people's hopes to appease him and lift any destructive catastrophe that threatened their world.
Once he found them, Vegeta released the restless spirits that were trapped on the trees where they were sacrificed and directed them on their way towards Meido, giving them the peace they seek after hundreds or thousands of years since their death. He was the only God of Destruction who heard their call since he knew that Beerus probably slept through his work all those years. He explained that whatever catastrophe Terra Eresei must have been through were only natural occurrences and not a direct effect of a God of Destruction's wrath towards its people, so there shouldn't be any need for sacrifices.
Once there was finally peace and quiet around him, it was enough to make him doze off. He found a tree on the top of the mountain and perched himself under its shade, not caring if his divine presence would destroy the life out of said tree in a more accelerated manner.
A gentle touch woke him up from his slumber and he found a pair of big, blue eyes peering down at him. Those bright cerulean eyes belonged to a seven-year-old girl. He was disgruntled when he first saw her, annoyed at her audacity to touch his hair and his face without his consent.
"Oi, do you wish to die?" he asked her with a threatening tone, giving the child a portentous glare, which immediately made her shrug away from him.
"Scary…" the little girl whined when she found his intimidating eyes piercing right through her soul. She quickly pulled away from him, stepping a few steps back as he rose from his sleeping position.
Pesky brat ruining his good sleep, Vegeta cursed. The child lowered her head awkwardly. Looking at her, he saw that she had aquamarine hair cropped into a layered bob cut with a pink flowery hair clip on the top left side of her head. She donned what looked like a hanbok with flowery designs all over it, and a long dark skirt.
Vegeta frowned when he found a blanket sliding down on his lap. He took the blanket in his hand, then realized a bonfire was not far away from him. He furrowed his brows and glared back on the kid.
The girl swallowed nervously, obviously intimidated by him. Remembering that she was supposed to accompany him, she shook her head to snap out of her obvious fear. She gave him a wide smile and said as if to answer his silent question, "The villagers sent me in here to serve you, Hakaishin-sama. My name is Bloomer, but please call me Bloom. I never liked my full name, you see," the young girl introduced herself.
"How the hell did you know who I am? And how did you even know that I was here?" Vegeta demanded with a sneer.
"Gevo-sama told me you were here."
That was how he first met her. Vegeta knew that this girl was another sacrifice like those spirits he just freed earlier that day. He told her the truth about how the pestilence was a simple natural disaster, that he was only on this planet to heed the call of the previous sacrifices and free them so they could pass over to the afterlife, and ordered her to go back to her village to tell her people what he just told her because he didn't need her to serve him.
"I cannot do that. The villagers would kill me if I went back there."
"And why would they kill you for that?"
"If I return to the village, then that means I failed to appease your wrath and they would kill me for I did not serve my purpose well. Plus, I don't want to go back there and be called a witch by the other kids like they always do."
"Witch?"
"Hnn…"
He saw in her own memories how she was bullied by the children in her village, throwing stones at her, cursing at her, and telling her to die. He saw that the kids blamed her presence for the drought that was happening on their planet, and so they probably goaded the elders to make her the sacrifice since she was the one they believed who brought bad luck to their people.
"I can destroy them all if you'd like me to do it for you," Vegeta offered her with a naughty grin. "Then there will be no one who would call you that ever again."
"Really?"
"But you have to make a contract with me first."
"Contract?"
"When you enter a contract with me, I shall bestow my divine punishment to those people you wish for me to destroy. In this process, those people you wish for destruction will cease to exist in this world. That means they will disappear forever, body and soul. They will never pass over, be sent to the afterlife, or will be given the chance to go to heaven, hell, or even be revived or be reincarnated. They will also be forgotten by other mortals as if they never existed in the first place.
"You see, before creation, destruction must occur first. This is how the balance of our universe works. But if an existence is destroyed when it's not yet its due time because of a request made to me, this creates a discrepancy in that balance. In order to keep the normality, you must also suffer the same fate as them. It means that once it is time for you to die, I will destroy you just as I did to those people you wished for me to destroy."
Bloomer shook her head, "Thanks for the offer, but I won't do it. I mean, there could be a reason why this is happening to us. I don't want to go back there anymore. I don't want to risk my papa and my mama too. I cannot go back. So please, take me with you. I can play with you, accompany you in all your travels, I would even serve you however you like."
"Girl, do you think I am looking for a playmate or some travel buddy? I don't need you. I already have an attendant who could serve me more than you could ever do," Vegeta told her harshly.
"Is that true?"
He rolled his eyes off her. "Whis!"
Whis suddenly appeared next to him in a burst of bright light. "Yes, Vegeta-sama? Oh my, who is this charming little girl?"
"The people of this planet sent her to me as a sacrifice to serve me. What do I do with her? I don't want her but she won't go back to her people."
"A sacrifice to serve you, huh? Then should we take her with us?"
"Did you hear me say that I don't want her? I am not like Beerus! I don't need to babysit an orphan child!" Vegeta yelled at his attendant.
"Isn't that a bit harsh of you to say, milord? Especially in front of the girl. And have you forgotten that you were also once an orphan child back when you were a mortal?"
"Don't remind me, Whis," Vegeta growled.
"You… You don't… You don't want me?" Bloom sniffed, feeling hurt and offended. Her wide eyes stung with her unshed tears while her lips quivered.
"I told you that whatever pestilence happened to this world prior to me coming in here isn't a work of a God of Destruction's wrath. It's a natural occurrence. Your sacrifice and your presence here is not needed," he told her coldly.
"But… But..!"
Vegeta should have left her there, he really should have done that in order to save her from the fate awaiting her, knowing that anyone who associates themselves with him would only end in the mortal's death and misery. But those tears in her blue eyes somehow made him feel bad. He knew he shouldn't have pity towards any mortal and he began to hear those damn voices for some reason. He cursed to himself, knowing what the trigger could be. He shouldn't be doing this, for her miserable life was her fate. But he didn't know what kind of stupidity took hold of him that day and he eventually relented and reluctantly allowed her to serve him whenever he visited Terra Eresei.
Soon, he found himself frequently visiting her home planet, and although he wouldn't openly admit or show it, he knew he was beginning to tolerate her and Gevo's company, and the mountain where they stayed. Vegeta and Bloom spent long nights together, talking about the wonders of the universe. Bloom was so fascinated by him and all he could do. Because of this, Vegeta soon found himself liking her, and he was confused by the strange emotions he was experiencing. He eventually found himself being inwardly tortured in his mind by the voices of his people trapped in Mu. This would cause him to deny whatever he felt or thought about Bloom, very much like what he does with Bulma. Being a God of Destruction, he always believed that emotions like these were a weakness and that he wasn't allowed to have such feelings towards a mortal. But he couldn't deny the way his heart raced every time he saw Bloom. Her beauty, kindness, and intelligence fascinated him, and he found himself wanting her company more and more often.
Because Vegeta would often visit Terra Eresei over the years, his destructive presence would only make the pestilence even worse, and the people would begin to think that Bloom was failing to appease the God of Destruction.
One night, while Vegeta was 'taking a bath' in an artificial oasis which Whis created for him since the drought had all bodies of water almost dried up, Bloom came up to him to bathe with him. They simply stared at one another for almost several minutes, both of them barenaked for each other's eyes. Bloom had indeed bloomed into a fine-looking, beautiful lady, like a flower during spring. Perhaps, her name Bloomer meant the blooming of the flowers, a perfect name for someone as gorgeous as her. While Vegeta was always perfectly sexy in all aspects, a godly beauty with the charisma of a devil. A true God of Destruction indeed.
He watched her, mesmerized by her beauty and her spirit. While he did that, he suddenly felt an attraction towards her which he never felt towards anyone before. He couldn't understand what it was or what it meant for him, but he knew he wanted her. But he also knew that this emotion he was harboring for her was forbidden for him as a God of Destruction, but Vegeta could not resist his desire for Bloom any longer. It was awkward for him at first, but Vegeta was the first to tease her after noticing how thirsty she looked while she stared at him.
"Oi, I know I'm good-looking but don't stare too much, woman. You could die, you know," he mumbled, trying to hide his flustered face in the water.
As if he wasn't staring at her naked body, too.
Bloom blushed at his words before she chuckled, "Then I won't mind dying if I get to stare at you like this all night long."
Vegeta's dark eyes widened a little in fascination before he narrowed them and let out a wide, evil smirk, "Did you just say you didn't mind dying?" he teased.
She shook her head, "Na-ah, not at all. Not after what I've been through. Don't you realize why I chose to be by your side?"
Vegeta's smirk faded and he blinked his eyes in puzzlement, "I thought you wanted to save your planet from me, that's why you sacrificed yourself to serve me."
"That's what I thought at first, too. But after being with you, I eventually realized that I couldn't care less about that anymore. I thought that I was just being crazy, but all I could ever want now is to be with you, Vegeta-sama, for as long as I live."
Vegeta snorted, "Hmph! You are being a fool for thinking such crazy things, woman. Don't forget that I am the God of Destruction of this Universe, any mortal who associates with me is bound for death and destruction. Are you willing to sign your own death warrant?"
"As I've said, I don't mind dying if it means I could be with you so long as I live."
Vegeta was fascinated. He never heard of a mortal as crazy and suicidal as this fool. He wondered what was wrong with this mortal and she wished to be with someone as dangerous to her such as him.
"Why?" he asked.
Good question, Bloom thought. She hesitated at first, wondering how she would confess her true feelings to the God of Destruction. She realized that she doesn't have any answer to that. She just thought that she wanted to stay by his side after seeing how lonely he was whenever he looked up into the stars. Despite knowing how dangerous and terrifying he could be, she felt that desire to ease that loneliness with her presence. She wanted to give him that kind of support. She knew that despite his cold and ruthless facade, he was just like any other mortal.
"I think it's because I have fallen in-love with you," Bloom confessed with a blush. Her unexpected words made Vegeta stare at her blankly, confused, and in awe at the same time.
The Hakaishin scoffed back as he rolled his eyes off her, giving her a look of disgust, "Love? You mean an attraction towards another being? I am a God of Destruction, I cannot have such feelings toward a mortal. I don't even know what that was in the first place."
"I am a mortal. That's why I will show you. I will make you understand what it means to be loved."
"You seem desperate about that for some reason. What do you really want from me?"
"I know that soon, you will make your judgment in this world and you will destroy everything. I have nothing else aside from you. That's why I am desperate to cling to the only thing that will remain in my life. I know that I will not lose you, even if you try to destroy this world. If I am with you, I know that I will have more precious memories of us being together and I don't want to let go of that chance. That's what matters to me now. That's why I chose to be by your side."
"So you wish to save yourself? Is that it? No, nothing could save you from me once I unleash the divine punishment I am planning to bestow upon your world."
"I wasn't doing this just to save myself, I was doing it for you! I was worried about you, you know..."
"This foolish mortal, just who do you think you are to worry about me, huh?!"
"I know you're lonely. I could take away that loneliness. Let me put an ease to your sorrows. I can fill up that emptiness in your heart, if you only let me do it. I'm here for you. All I ask is for you to save me from your wrath and I will do anything for you. Please... Vegeta-sama..."
If only Vegeta could change things back then, he wouldn't have responded to such words at all. He didn't know what happened to him at that moment as he lost control of himself that night. He thought she was crazy for choosing to be with him, of all people, but he was crazier for letting himself fall for her. She must have put him in a powerful spell not even him could resist.
She must truly be a witch, like what her people thought of her to be.
But he didn't care about any of that. The fervent attraction he suddenly felt towards her was unstoppable and she was willing to accept him entirely. He had never met a mortal who wished to be by his side, who didn't mind who and what he was. She just accepted him as he is. Vegeta realized that this desire must have come from years of loneliness and isolation since mortals normally feared, hated, and cursed at him. He must have wanted to have someone accept him no matter who and what he was. Even until now he was still longing for that kind of acceptance, which her reincarnation tried to give him too.
"Then love me to the point that you would want to destroy the universe for me. Be the first mortal to love me as I am. Make me, the God of Destruction, love you to the point that I would destroy everything just for you," that's what he told her as he gently caressed her lovely face as she looked up to him with her big, blue eyes. He had never been so gentle towards anyone before. Even if he could feel her core of existence pulse under his touch, reacting to his divine presence as the destroyer deity, he didn't wish to destroy her. What he wanted from her was for her to do as she said, to stay by his side and fill in this suffocating emptiness he had been feeling his entire existence.
In order for her to do that, he had to make her his. Not because he held her life and existence in his fingertips, but as his chosen mate. Being a Saiyan when he was a mortal, the unbreakable bond he would share with her would bring them together, making them as one forever, body and soul.
He didn't regret what he did with her that night. He had decided that she would be his and will forever be his. She was meant to be with him, to serve him, to care for him, to accept him…
To love him like no other mortal did.
As their bodies moved with fervent passion, with Bloomer repeatedly declaring how much she loved what he was doing with her. How every touch, every thrust, every reaction he did to her made her body lit up in fire, causing her to pant, gasp, whine, screech, and scream each time he entered her. While he did his best to hold back his reactions and ignore the pained cries torturing his head, he couldn't deny the pleasure he was getting from her responses to his drive. That look of wanton across her face, the way she bounced up and down against him, and the sounds of pleasure she was making due to how ruthlessly hard and fast he was fucking her with his immense and rock-hard phallus all brought him to the edge. Their mating was intense and passionate. The moment he threw his head back, hissing as he bared his fangs, then bit into the side of her neck as they reached their peak and orgasmed together, forever branding her as his property, imprinting and activating the bond, he thought that the moment they shared together would last forever. It was perfect, soothing, and satisfying. He had forgotten who and what he was, as if he was reborn into a new being with her. He was glad, happy, and calm like he never felt before, and he would like for it to last forever.
But that moment was short-lived. In reality, nothing changed about him. He was still the God of Destruction of this Universe, and he certainly cannot have such privilege of forming such a relationship towards mortals. The cries of his people's agony eventually came to him in the worst ways he never thought was even possible. He felt like he was going to go crazy and he was quick to realize his mistake. Of course, a God of Destruction was never allowed to have such attachments towards mortals. Mating and bonding with Bloom in such a way that night was a taboo among the gods. Despite this, he never regretted what he did with her.
What he regretted was what he told her after their love making.
He couldn't understand how a mortal would ever love someone like him at all. He was a God of Destruction, the harbinger of misery, death, and destruction of mortals. Despite how much Bloom told him that she doesn't mind dying to be on his side earlier, he was quick to deny her affections for him. Thanks to the cursed contract he made when he decided to train to become a God of Destruction, he realized he wasn't allowed to feel anything aside from his own anger and hatred, much less reciprocate whatever she was feeling towards him. So he told her to stop her foolishness and forget him and whatever happened between them.
"Do it, if you do not wish to die…"
Ashamed, hurt, and heartbroken, Bloom ran away in tears without ever understanding the true reason behind Vegeta's rejection and his internal sufferings. Those tears made his heart feel heavy, as if something just pierced through his chest. But instead of chasing her like most men in-love did in the dramas Bulma forced him to watch, Vegeta turned away from Bloom instead. He refused to go after her, thinking that it was a better move for him to do. The painful sound of his people's cries slowly left his head due to this.
"Darn it all! How could I allow this foolishness to happen in the first place?! Where did I go wrong? Was it a mistake for me to associate myself with these lowly mortals? What am I supposed to do now?
"This is infuriating me! But why? I wasn't supposed to feel anything about this. I am a God of Destruction. I am never allowed to feel anything towards these mortals whom I would destroy at some point in time. I will always be a cold and ruthless destroyer. A monster.
"But why am I feeling such frustrations with her gone? Why can't I accept it?"
Those thoughts bugged him all night. He stayed alone on that oasis, staring blankly at the night sky. It was the same feeling he had when Bulma denied him the other night. It was so upsetting to him, yet he could not understand why he was feeling that kind of frustration at all.
When he went out of the water to dress himself up in his divine Hakaishin garments, deciding to leave this cursed planet and never come back again, Gevo came up running to him, with Whis tailing behind the mountain's guardian deity.
"Vegeta-sama!" Gevo called, a concerning tone in his voice. "You have to come to the village down the mountain! Bloom has been captured by the villagers! They're going to burn her in a stake to sacrifice her life for you as an apology!"
"What?!" was a surprisingly apoplectic response from Vegeta. He thought he didn't want to care about Bloom anymore. He thought he wanted to forget about her and whatever happened between them here, but the thought of her life in danger quickly proved that he cannot just do that.
Gevo continued, "The villagers believe that she failed to appease you, that's why they–"
A violent purple aura of destruction abruptly burst around the obviously furious God of Destruction, causing Gevo's words to be cut off with a screech of fright. The force of its shockwave nearly pushed the guardian deity off. Vegeta gritted his teeth in an effort to control himself. He didn't know where such unfettered fury was coming from, but focusing on this anger, the only emotion a God of Destruction was ever allowed to feel, Vegeta was free from the agonizing curse… somehow.
"The people of this cursed planet… When are they going to stop this nonsense?!" He thought indignantly to himself. Mortals and their ridiculous beliefs!
"Vegeta-sama!" Whis and Gevo called his name in their hopes to calm him down.
Vegeta tried to control his rising destructive energy and his anger. The purple fire around him dissipated as he calmed himself down. Despite this, his rage was still building up from within him. That calm demeanor but silent fury was like the calm before the storm.
"Fine. I will descend. They need to learn the hard truth. I will show them what it means to truly incur the wrath of a true God of Destruction. Do you have any objections, Gevo?" Vegeta declared in a cold, imperious voice.
Gevo could feel that Vegeta's anger was just beginning to boil. From what he could sense, the new God of Destruction was more powerful and more dangerous than his predecessor. He could also tell that Vegeta was ruthless and wrathful as compared to Beerus, who claimed himself to be a more merciful god. Gevo knew that even if he objected, Vegeta would not let a lowly deity like himself get in his way. This was the God of Destruction's judgment and he knew that complete destruction would eventually come.
As if accepting his people's fate and knowing that he couldn't do anything to stop a furious God of Destruction, Gevo simply lowered his head in submission, "As you wish, milord. You may do whatever you deemed is necessary."
Vegeta's wrath stemmed from emotions he couldn't understand. It wasn't out of fury because of the foolish tradition the people of this forsaken mudball believed in. Despite trying his best to focus on that anger, his unrecognized but undenying love for Bloom eventually got into him the moment he found her crying out in agony as she was surrounded by the fire her people ignited below her feet. Vegeta wanted to save her, but that desire only brought him down to his knees, incapacitating him as he quickly grabbed at the sides of his head and screamed in utmost pain as a seemingly endless wave of tortured voices burned inside his head. He struggled to fight against both his pain and his inability to move his body the way he wanted it, but all he did was to helplessly watch and try to reach out to Bloom's dying and burning form until her life force was completely burned out.
Finding her lifeless and severely burned body, the God of Destruction's devastating energy erupted around him in a burst of pure rage. A flash of powerful lightning streaked through the blackened clouds, which was immediately followed by the boisterous, furious roar of thunder. He still had no idea where this fury was coming from, not even the meaning behind such anger. All he knew was that he wanted to kill and destroy all of those who did this to her. He will make them all pay for this.
Without her, Terra Eresei was useless to him anymore. He will destroy everything! The God of Destruction's overwhelming wrath shall sear through all that exists!
Vegeta, who was completely enraged, went berserk with a ferocity unmatched by anything he did before. He unleashed a burst of flames that decimated entire cities and made the planet look like hell itself.
The mortals were too late to realize their mistake, they had no time to even fall to their knees and beg for his mercy. Vegeta was not in a forgiving mood. He roared with anger and raised hell upon them, the flames around him seem to become one with him.
The inhabitants of Terra Eresei were helpless against his violent might, and they were burned alive before his eyes. Their screams echoed across the planet as Vegeta continued his rampage, it sounded like good music in his ears and he began to enjoy the savagery he was inflicting on these people. Due to this, his overwhelming power grew with each passing moment as the power of the Secret of Self-Indulgence took hold of him.
As the last of the mortals' dying scream went down, Vegeta stood tall, his chest heaving with his unfettered fury. It was obvious that he wasn't finished here. He wanted to do more. More blood! More destruction!
Before Whis and Gevo could stop him, Vegeta growled ferociously as if to try to maintain his control, but it was all but futile. He threw his head back and let out a lengthened and continuous scream into the violent skies filled with thunderclouds, which brought ferocious lightning across the burning planet. The earring attached to his left ear cracked and broke into fine dust, and his devastating power in its full force exploded around him, causing the very fabric of reality to shake with the force of his destructive rage. Both the Sixth and Seventh Universes trembled, causing the entirety of the Eastern Galaxy to be destroyed.
With his eyes glazing over, black smoke covering his scleras and his magenta eyes glowing like fire, Vegeta began laughing like a madman as he relished the destruction he's causing to the Universe he gave up everything he had in order to protect. This was eerily similar to that moment Vegeta destroyed Planet Osebi where he left his last Saiyan comrades, Nappa and Raditz to die.
When Vegeta came back to his senses a few moments later after Whis knocked him down with a single strike and restraining him with the powers of his angelic scepter, his first desire was to see Bloom for the last time as she crossed the Sanju River. Abusing his powers as the God of Destruction, he appeared before Enma Daiou, demanding that he be the one to take Bloom's soul to its destination where she must await her time to be reborn. But because Vegeta couldn't row Zahha's tiny boat by himself, he allowed the Ferryman to do it, but he threatened him that if he dared to look or listen to what Vegeta was about to do, he would destroy Zahha from his existence.
Just like how Vegeta did with Granolah, he allowed Bloom's soul to appear before him in her spirit form. Bloom's blue eyes were filled with tears of grief and sorrow when she found him. She recalled how she saw him helplessly watching her as she burned in that stake. He was so powerless at that moment, she found him becoming desperate as he became incapacitated by something invisible to her eyes. She couldn't understand how such a proud and powerful being became so powerless to save her. Enma Daiou explained everything to her when she came into the check-in station earlier. A God of Destruction was not allowed to have such attachments towards a mortal, that's what he told her. That the reason why he suddenly became so powerless at that moment was because of the contract he made when he decided to become a God of Destruction, that every time he would go against his proper duties, his mind would be tortured by the cries of his people trapped in Mu. He would hear them constantly and ceaselessly screaming, and although it's not real, feel whatever psychological pain those souls were feeling in that wretched place. That's when she understood why Vegeta rejected her love for him, and she felt so bad and sad for him.
"I understand you now. I'm sorry. I didn't know that you were suffering. I promise you that in my next life, I will seek you and we will meet again. When that time comes, I will show you the true meaning of what love is. We will find a way to liberate you from this cursed existence, just as you did with me. Wait for me, Vegeta-sama. I will come back to you."
That's what she said to him before she left him on that boat. Vegeta wanted so much to cry, to run towards her, to make her stay with him that day. But as the pain of loss and the trauma brought by the voices reminded him that he doesn't deserve such a privilege, he just stood there motionless, feeling nothing as he stared at where Bloom's soul entered. He tried to keep his true feelings within his heart and realized that the pain and anger was slowly making him feel numb. He didn't want to let it out and cry. He swore that he would never cry again after he lost everything when he became the God of Destruction. It didn't matter anyways, since he was going to forget everything about her sooner or later…
Vegeta was summoned to the King of All's Palace after that, with all the gods of creation and destruction and guide angels looking at him in concern. Daishinkan was there as well. Vegeta remembered being scolded for what he did on Terra Eresei, and he learned that he almost destroyed both the Sixth and Seventh Universes with his rampage, but Shin and Fuwa, the Gods of Creation of both Universes, fixed the mess he did. The gods considered forcing Vegeta to destroy Bloom's existence as she was the reason for him to make such trouble. Hearing that, Vegeta was immediately on his knees, saying he cannot do such a thing. The gods berated him for allowing himself to be overwhelmed by his emotions, his mortal weakness as they called it, which they also considered as a dangerous catalyst to the forbidden Secret of Self-Indulgence technique. They said that this was the reason why they were against Beerus and Whis' decision to allow a Saiyan to become a God of Destruction through such a risky method. Vegeta sincerely apologized for the trouble he did, thinking that he's going to be obliterated from his existence that day as punishment. Vegeta disliked that he was doing this again, but since he still valued his existence and his belief that he can still regain his lost pride by becoming the strongest in the multiverse at that point in time, and inwardly wanting to protect Bloom's promise and his Universe as well (though he still won't admit it), he swallowed his pride to make a deal with Daishinkan and the other gods.
Vegeta admitted his mistakes and promised that this incident will never occur again. Daishinkan oddly forgave him but in these conditions: for Vegeta to allow Daishinkan to repress the memories he had of Bloom and everything that happened in Terra Eresei. The only thing he would remember in its place was that the rampage he did was an accident due to his own neglect when it comes to his mortal weakness, his emotions. Because of this, Vegeta had to close his heart off and prevent any attachments to mortals if he still wished to exist. For the sake of everything he cared about, Vegeta willingly agreed.
In the years following that, despite losing his memories of Bloom, his heart seemed to remember the promise she made with him. This was why Bulma dreamt of him waiting for someone for a very long time. Now that Vegeta learned of the truth, he realized that the person he was waiting for all along was Bulma Briefs, because she was after all, the reincarnation of Bloomer, who was his bonded mate in her past life. No wonder why Bulma could easily read through him and why he knew her soul was bonded to his. Her fate, body, and soul were already bound to his.
[Present Day]
When Vegeta opened his eyes in his bed back on the Planet of Destruction, the first thing he wanted to do was to see Bulma. But before he could even do that, Whis' voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Finally you're awake, Vegeta-sama."
Hearing that soft voice, Vegeta turned his eyes to his obviously displeased guide angel, who was standing a few feet away from his bed. Whis was looking down at him with a frown.
"What the hell happened?" Vegeta asked groggily as he pushed himself off the mattress, sitting on the side of his bed as he rubbed his eyes.
"I'm the one who was supposed to ask you that, milord. What happened to you back there?" Whis asked.
Vegeta's eyebrows furrowed together, confused. He tried to recall what happened but he cannot seem to remember whatever transpired at Jigoku following Rushiferu's taunts. He doesn't even know how the hell he got back home.
"I… I don't remember," Vegeta muttered to himself.
"You got into a heated argument with King Rushiferu back at Jigoku, and you suddenly lashed out on him, losing control of yourself and nearly destroying Meido in your rampage," Whis told him.
"What?!" Vegeta gasped in disbelief, taken aback by such words. He quickly turned his head, gritting his teeth as his fists shook. One of the things he hated the most was losing control of himself or his powers. He viewed such lack of control as weakness and a lack of proper discipline. This was the reason why he viewed Gas as a pathetic being for being a mindless berserker who doesn't have any control over his actions and his powers at all. Learning of what just happened, Vegeta couldn't help but feel like his pride had been shattered. He had been doing Spirit Control Meditation for months within the Sacred Space of Spirit and Time, and yet he still lost control of himself. What the hell was wrong with him?
Whis let out a sigh, "I took my eyes away from you for a few minutes and you suddenly went into a berserk rampage. I told you not to cause any more trouble while I'm gone, didn't I?"
"..."
"Good thing I was able to return on time and was able to knock you out before you could repeat whatever you did 1,239 years ago."
Vegeta didn't answer for a few moments. Whis blinked his eyes, wondering if there was something wrong.
"1,239 years ago, huh?" Vegeta uttered to himself. Whis noticed Vegeta spacing out after that, deep in his own, personal thoughts.
"Is something the matter, Vegeta-sama?" the concerned guide angel asked.
"That Earthling woman… Is she really her reincarnation?"
"Ah… So you remembered?"
"Just answer the damn question, Whis!" Vegeta hissed back at his guide angel.
"How should I know? Why don't you check it out yourself?" Whis told him.
Vegeta grumbled under his breath as he stood up and started walking towards the door, with Whis following closely behind him.
"Where are you going?" Whis asked in amusement.
"To check her out myself since you refuse to give me answers!"
"And what are you going to do if you get them?"
"Don't ask me something so obvious, Whis. Now give me my divine garments and take me to that stupid mudball!"
With careful, quiet footsteps he drew closer to the futon where Bulma had fallen asleep, squatting down next to her and watching her sleep with a look of longing in his ebony eyes. He stared at her as if trying to study every bit of her appearance and frowned to himself. She really does look exactly like Bloom but Bulma was embarrassing to look at with her shameless sleeping position and boisterous snoring than the more peaceful and quiet Bloom.
He tried reaching out his hand to her, wanting to check on her soul if it was indeed Bloomer's reincarnation into this new being. But then, he hesitated. He pulled his hand away instead, remembering the promise he made with Daishinkan 1,239 years ago. He cannot fall again for such a mortal, he must not. He was afraid that what occurred between him and Bulma's past life may repeat itself. Although his longing for her was painful deep in his heart, he tried his best to push away the voices in his head as he shook his head.
He knew what he had to do once he found her reincarnation. There's no other choice if he had to prevent what happened in the past from repeating itself again.
But…
What was he doing? Why won't he destroy her? Why does he hesitate?
"Hm?!"
Vegeta quickly darted his eyes to his left, the direction where he sensed an abrupt appearance of a very powerful ki in his Universe. Whis quickly turned to him with a look of concern, though he was trying his best not to be terrified by that burst of overwhelmingly strong godly energy.
Unleashing his divine powers, Vegeta quickly created a closed space which rendered everything within it to temporarily stop in order to prevent Bulma from hearing what he's about to tell Whis or be even aware of his presence. He silently walked out of Bulma's tiny balcony with Whis following close behind, looking up into the skies in the direction of the God of Destruction's planet.
"Whis," he called. "Is that who I think it is?"
"If you're thinking about the King of Nothingness, then yes. That is him."
The destroyer deity scowled, "What the hell is he doing here? I thought he should wake up in 100,000 years after we first fought?"
Whis simply stared at Vegeta, wondering if Daishinkan was correct after all. King Mu was either awakened by the vision of Vegeta's new powers and he came in here looking for a fight with the Destined Strong One just like what happened last time, or worse, he rose from his deep slumber to do his duty to obliterate a god who doesn't do his proper work or was becoming a threat to the multiverse. Whichever it was, this is alarming and this would force Vegeta to fight whether he liked it or not.
"If I should take a guess, King Mu probably is itching for a fight with you again just like last time," Whis told him.
"Tch!" Vegeta grunted to himself in annoyance. "What a nuisance! Why the hell did he come here at such a bad time?!"
"You should go and accept the challenge. You don't want him going berserk again, do you?"
"Fine, let's go."
He circled around Whis until he was behind his guide angel to touch his back. Whis tapped the end of his scepter on the floor and they were surrounded by a flash of angelic light before they blasted off into space. As his trail left the Earth, the closed space Vegeta created disappeared, and Bulma opened her eyes.
When Vegeta arrived at the Planet of Destruction, he found King Mu together with Yonshir. The Goddess of Reality, Time, and Space was reporting something to her superior and whatever it was made Vegeta quite suspicious.
The Multiverse-level gods noticed his upcoming presence and they both turned to his direction as both Vegeta and Whis descended a few feet in front of them.
"Greetings, your Majesty. It has been a while," Whis said, bowing down to the King of Nothingness. Mu nodded back in recognition of the guide angel and saw Vegeta walking away from Whis' back to stand by his side.
"What are you doing here, Mu?" Vegeta demanded, crossing his muscular arms over his chiseled chest.
"I see that you still haven't done anything to fix that ill manner of yours. It has been a long time, Vegeta Yonsei," King Mu told him with a chuckle.
"You didn't answer my question."
"I'm sure you are aware of the reason why I am here, Vegeta. I heard from Yonshir over here that you have gotten a lot stronger than the last time we fought. I wanted to test that new power of yours now."
"You come in here looking for a fight just like last time? Haven't you learned your lesson yet?"
"Do I need to remind you that you didn't really defeat me? I gave up on my own volition because I was testing you out back then. Now, I want to see how much you have improved after 1,527 years."
"Grk!"
A vein popped on the left side of Vegeta's wide forehead as his expression turned furious. Being reminded of that brought him the bitterness of his pride being insulted following that first battle. Being given that free win was a disrespect to his pride as a warrior.
"Why you…" he snarled.
Even until now, Vegeta still hasn't forgiven King Mu for what happened that day. The King of Nothingness was the reason he was forced to become a God of Destruction out of his own will. This monster was the one who took everything that was left in him, his mortality, his pride as a Saiyan Warrior Prince, his freedom, his life, and his true destiny. He still has to make this damn god pay for that!
His anger began to boil his blood and his energy began to seep out of his pores. That's right. This fury was the only thing he was allowed to ever feel. He must focus on this rage and forget about any other emotions he had for anyone. Whis looked at him, knowing that his master was about to charge blindly due to his anger. Vegeta was always so easily triggered by anything meant to offend him and his high pride.
Filled with unspeakable fury, Vegeta abruptly charged at King Mu with a yell. Despite the King of Nothingness effortlessly blocking all of his moves, Vegeta was so blinded by his rage he kept on throwing anything, everything he could give towards the gargantuan warrior god with the heavy imperial armor and kishin mask.
"Whoah, Vegeta-chan sure is angry. What's up with him all of a sudden?" Yonshir asked as she approached Whis.
"It's just as Daishinkan-sama predicted, King Mu would awake this soon because of what happened to Vegeta-sama," Whis said. "Please don't act like you have nothing to do with this, Yonshir-sama."
Yonshir chuckled to herself, winking at Whis. "Oh my… I'm just here to observe Vegeta-chan's behavior and report it to the higher gods, Whis. It was meant to prevent what happened 1,239 years ago from happening again. We all know how dangerous Vegeta could become, so we have to test him out and see what actions we must do to control him, and stop him from becoming that threat you saw in the Pond of Oracles. "
"Well, maybe if you stop provoking him, then he may not become such a threat."
"Stop provoking him? What do you mean?"
"I've known Vegeta-sama ever since he's a mortal. He's just the type of person who doesn't like being told what to do, much less being controlled by others. He was a proud Saiyan warrior prince after all."
"Even so, even the most rebellious and stubborn person in the multiverse can be forced to submit. Rules and laws are made for a reason. He had to follow the laws of the gods. It would be a problem if he continues to be such a troublemaker."
Whis didn't answer as his attention was caught by the sight of Vegeta plummeting on the ground, easily and utterly defeated. His immortality was healing all his injuries almost instantly, thus it probably should be making him stronger considering his ability to grow stronger with every damage and regeneration he did. However, it seemed that he was only growing weaker for some reason. In the middle of the fight, Vegeta suddenly caught a glimpse of Bulma's thoughts when she woke up in her room, as if she knew he was there earlier. She was looking for him, wondering what he did there and asking where he went again. It caused him to become distracted during his battle and that's how he ended up in that shameful state he was in.
Vegeta gritted his teeth, "Damn it… I thought that I would forget about these feelings if I fought, but I was wrong. It hurts. I'm in so much pain right now, deep inside my chest. What is this? I don't get this. Bulma… What have you done to me?"
"What is happening to Vegeta-sama? How could it end like this? He's not fighting like his usual self these past few days. What's even worse is that he doesn't even realize it!" the guide angel wondered.
"What's the matter, Vegeta Yonsei?" King Mu mocked as he landed. "What is happening to you?" he demanded before lifting Vegeta by his neck. "You disappoint me. You were never this weak when I first fought you. What happened to that pride and indomitable fighting spirit you once had? I can tell that you lost it. Without that, you will never wield the limitless power given by the Secret of Self-Indulgence technique! A warrior who lost his pride and fighting spirit doesn't deserve to exist! I will obliterate you!"
Then King Mu hurled him into the sky. Vegeta, who was in shame and had lost his will to fight due to being distracted and hurt by the memories of Bulma and her first incarnation, wasn't able to do anything as King Mu pointed his palm to where he was and declared, "Obliteration!"
The heart-wrenching sound of Vegeta's painful scream was drowned within the boisterous explosion of energy that burst around him. As he felt his consciousness ebb away, he reached out one of his hands into the sky where he was seeing Bulma's face smiling at him as he plummeted into the Planet of Destruction's dead water like a bird that lost its wings. His melancholic eyes filled with his tears of his longing for the presence of the mortal woman his heart and soul were bonded to.
If there was anything that Vegeta utterly hated the most, it was losing a battle due to his own foolishness. He prided himself about being the most powerful among all Saiyans and the Gods of Destruction. So he was in a great shock by how easily he was defeated by the King of Nothingness. He knew that if he didn't allow such distractions to divert his focus on his fight, he could have released his full power by using the Secret of Self-Indulgence technique and unleashed his Ultra Ego form. But no, his doubts bugged him every time he would hear Bulma's unneeded concern and thoughts about him. She ruined him and his great battle!
And he almost paid dearly for it!
When Whis took him out of the water, King Mu had scolded him. Vegeta was in too much shock to listen to the multiverse-level deity chewing out at him, but he heard that King Mu was giving him a chance to fix himself and they will fight again soon when he feels like he could concentrate better in the fight.
When King Mu left, Whis and Yonshir stared down at him as Vegeta plowed his fist into the ground, screaming and cursing.
"I already warned you about this, Vegeta-chan, but you refused to listen to me," Yonshir told him. "You're lucky to have been blessed with a second chance by the King of Nothingness. Next time, there will be no second chances."
Vegeta's shaking hands balled into tight fists. Yonshir might be thinking he was lucky and all, but she had no idea how much indignation he was feeling right now. He lifted his glowing magenta eyes to give Yonshir an apoplectic glare. If he knew better, Yonshir must have said something to Mu as he saw her reporting something to her superior. Whatever it was, he had no idea but he didn't like it at all. He wanted to lash out on her, to demand what she told the King of Nothingness, but he held back himself. He knew he had something else to do. Something much more necessary than arguing with a senseless multiverse-level deity who doesn't understand a thing at all.
Vegeta rose from the severely cracked ground, turned around, and gave her his back. "Let's go to Earth, Whis," he said with a cold, detached tone.
"Earth again?" Yonshir said. "You better know what you should do with that planet now, Vegeta-chan. Otherwise, I will make my move and finish what you could not."
"There's no need to interfere, Yonshir. I know what I have to do. So don't bother getting in my way, ever," Vegeta warned her with a low growl, trying his best to control himself from yelling.
Vegeta held Whis' back as the guide angel meekly bowed to the goddess and the two of them returned to Planet Earth in a flash of bright angelic light.
Vegeta stalked Bulma the entire day, from her coming out of her house to go to her work, even during her job at the Ox King's Sushi Restaurant, watching her every move as if he was studying her. While doing so, he found some similarities between her and Bloom and was able to confirm that she was indeed Bloomer's reincarnation.
"It's true. I can see their similarities. Now, I am beginning to understand why I felt like I've seen her before… Our unwanted bond… And the meaning behind all those visions…" he muttered to himself as he gazed down upon Bulma, who just finished her work for the day, and went out of her workplace with her female co-worker. He had been standing on the top of the building in front of the Ox King's Sushi Restaurant.
Just the mere sight of her caused his fury to stir, and he subconsciously and effortlessly ripped the metal railing where his hands had been gripping for quite some time now.
"Damn it all to hell..!" he snarled through his gritted teeth, the crippling sound of metal bending and snapping by force ripping through the air along with his cussing.
Bloom did her promise to him when her soul reincarnated into this human woman. He should be glad and be satisfied with it, but why was he feeling so mad? Maybe if she did this before he made up his mind to focus on being a God of Destruction, he wouldn't be so unfettered like this. Now, all he could think about her was her being such a pest to him now. Why does she have to come back and ruin everything for him? Was it because of love? She did say that she would come back for him to teach him what it means to be loved. To liberate him from this cursed existence. But he never asked her nor did he want her to do that for him. He was never allowed to feel love or have this sort of emotion toward anyone. He had given up everything for this power so he could become the God of Destruction of this Universe. There was no hope nor salvation for him. He was cursed to endure the price of his pride, greed, and ambitions for all eternity.
"Do you understand now why you have lost to the King of Nothingness?" Whis told him. The guide angel stood behind him.
"Yeah…" Vegeta responded. All these useless emotions, his unwanted bond with her, everything about her, everything is becoming a nuisance to him. He can't be bothered like this. He was a God of Destruction after all.
"Now that you understand everything, you already know what to do, Vegeta-sama. This is a direct order from Daishinkan-sama…
"You must destroy Bulma-san."
Vegeta's eyes widened and his breath was caught in his throat as Whis' words brought him into a state of surprise.
