Walking Dead Wizard

Chapter 128

Severus kept an eye on the results of Harry's stats, the monitor just as Hershel was conveying, did show that the babies were beginning to feel distressed. Very luckily for them that the shield was counting down its very last percentages until it was safe to retrieve the twins. He knelt down, wand at the ready, prepared to do what he must – as he knew Harry would want him to – as soon as possible.

"He's not going to do the procedure down there is he?" came Ezekiel's voice, strained with incredulity. It wasn't clean, to cut him open right here and now? It would cause infections, illness, they really should be doing it in a room that's at least been properly cleaned! They'd been traipsing in and out of the doctor surgery. The germs build up must be immense, he knew from a friend of his who was a Veterinarian, which was harder to achieve than being a doctor. He was always very cautious about germs around open wounds and surgery. In fact, he used to drone on and on about it. Not to mention everyone wasn't wearing scrubs or even facemasks!

"Harry's going to be just fine," Lori reassured the leader of The Kingdom. They were very fortunate to have magic on their sides, so they didn't need to worry about the possibility of germs getting into sounds and such. There had been the odd injury that would have required surgery if they didn't have potions mind, but they did have magic and it made all the difference. "He'll be healed as soon as the babies are out as if months had gone by in a matter of moments." Judith followed around after Sophia, picking up the older girls habits, or listening to her talk, which right now was mostly regarding male pregnancies.

"More accurate to say that it will look as if it didn't happen," Severus informed them from where he was knelt beside Harry, counting down the seconds with a thumping heartbeat. It wasn't likely that anything would happen, but the unexpected had already happened today, which was usual when it came to Harry. Honestly, the boy was going to give him a heart attack one day, he was sure of it. To think he thought once he left school he wouldn't need to put up with his shenanigans. "Can you just once, not cause any more chaos today, Harry?"

Harry laughed, not at all offended, Severus was always going to be Severus, that laugh bit off into a scream, as the Potions Master used his wand to cut into Harry's stomach.

It was time.

"He's cutting into him!?"

Luna immediately cast a decontamination spell, which sanitized the entire surgery, from the soles of everyone's shoes to the tips of their hair. Severus gave Luna a nod of thanks, pleased he wouldn't need to be the one casting it, even more so when Hershel informed him both Harry and the babies vitals were stabilising, tiny as it was, anything was better than it getting worse.

"I think I'm going to be sick!"

"Gross!"

Merle rolled his eyes at the lot of them, you'd think they hadn't seen worse with the world the way it had been. Perhaps they'd all been re-civilised or something. He chuffed out his amusement, he was pleased to see those that mattered didn't even blink. The Vet, the nurse, the Potions Master, Daryl and he were used to such sights, usually animals as of the past decade. He'd done far worse to enemy's while in the service, although, he didn't exactly stick around to see the results. Luna looked slightly worried, but not overly so, just the look of a girl whose friend was in pain and there was nothing she could do.

"If you're going to be sick, leave the premises, use the back door!" Hershel harshly reprimanded, they definitely did not need someone puking up in here. They shouldn't be here if they had a weak stomach anyways, given the walkers, the bites and death they'd seen, it was a miracle someone did feel sick, so far it was only an incision, and for some reason he'd expected the wand to become a scalpel, not magically create a cut itself. He'd seen Severus create a needle on the tip of his wand, perhaps that's why.

There was some shuffling, and red faces but the tip tapping of feet never surfaced.

"How can he remain so silent?" Ezekiel asked, staring horrified, yes, he was screaming occasionally, but for the most part, he was just lying there panting outrageously, he knew for certain if that was him, he'd be screaming until he lost consciousness. Only to start screaming when he was roused again. "Has something been administered?" he hadn't seen a thing, and he couldn't recall looking away even for a moment.

"Muggle medication doesn't work on us," Luna informed him, kindly explaining for the man she was fond off – okay maybe it was mostly his tiger – but she still liked him. "And no potions can be given until it's over." Anything for a human adult would affect the babies, so yes, anything for the pain would need to wait.

Ezekiel's breathing hitched, you mean he really wasn't on anything? Swallowing thickly, he watched the proceedings in shock. He couldn't believe it, how wasn't he a sobbing mess? Wincing as he watched the black-haired man create a bigger magical incision in Harry's abdomen. Blood was pooling onto the floor, and everything sort of became fuzzy.

"Holy shit," Carl muttered, "Sorry, mom," came the almost immediate reply knowing his mother wouldn't be happy with his words. You'd think they weren't suffering after the end of the world as she knew it. All she had to say was politeness didn't cost anything, especially amongst their own people. He could do and say as he wished when it came to strangers, but best not antagonise anyone you didn't know. Which made sense, Harry said the same, Merle said it was stupid as fuck, if they were going to attack, they'd do it even if they were spoken to nicely. Harry had said nothing to that, which meant he had agreed wholeheartedly.

"Are you Charlie?" Sophia asked the red headed wizard, as she took a seat next to where he stood.

Bill huffed a laugh, "No kiddo, I'm not, that would be my brother, he's over there," pointing Charlie out to the lass. It wasn't the first time he had been asked if he was his brother, they were close in age, and if you didn't know them, they were frequently mistaken for the other. It had been a long time since it happened though, and left him nostalgic. He was tall and lanky, while Charlie was tall but not as tall as him but very bulky, he had to keep himself in great shape to take care of the dragons. The muscle he had on him was unbelievable. He'd been really shocked when he first set eyes on his brother after he'd been gone two years – for his internship – the entire family had been agape in sheer incredulous shock at the massive change. "Looks like she's got her priorities sorted, eh?"

Harry sniggered with a look of absolute agony on his face, "Don't make me laugh," he said, hissing through his teeth at the tugging swallowing down the vulgar and vicious words he wanted to spew out. "I lost five puddings to Daryl for that." It's not like betting with money was worth anything.

"Oh, this I must hear about." Bill said, curious despite himself, not even remotely reacting to the blood or the look of agony on Harry's face. He knew it was hurting but there was nothing he could do; Harry would get something for the pain as soon as the kiddos were born. Twins, he wondered if there had been twins the Potter family or perhaps it was Daryl's family. The Prewitt's were well known for having twins through the ages, the Prewitt family was gone now, unless one of them took on the Prewitt name and revived it.

Names didn't seem all that important these days. However, staying alive was.

"I made the mistake of betting Daryl that she'd be through the cupboards and annoying you by the end of the week," Harry confessed, "Fuck sake, will you hurry the fuck up! It's fucking killing me!" he snapped unable to put up with the pain of having someone's hands inside of his body any longer.

"You bet on me?" Sophia asked staring at them in faux shock, but her grin showed through quick enough.

"He did," Daryl murmured, barely speaking up, he didn't do well in social situations, and there were more people here than he was used to dealing with in such a tense situation. "She understands how busy everyone is and wouldn't go and disturb them, but wouldn't miss an opportunity if it was presented to her."

Carol smiled, Daryl truly had her daughters character down really well, it surprised her that Harry would get it wrong then again, he saw how brave and fearless she was. They'd made sure her daughter could survive anything, including this world on her own should something horrific happen and they end up separated. It was one of the first things Harry, Daryl and Merle taught her, she remembered being very grateful to them for it. Her own father hadn't even bothered, goodness, it had been a long time since she thought of him.

"I did though, think about going through," Sophia said sheepishly, "I really wanted to learn more about the dragons and Harry didn't actually have any books specially for Dragons itself." Plenty where they were mentioned though.

"He doesn't?" Percy asked in surprise, "Hmm…I'm pretty sure there are books about dragons alone, how long has it been since you checked the trunk?" which was where all the magical books were stored, they were precious now, and needed to be preserved as best as possible. Same with all other muggle books too come to that. There was new stuff going in all the time, any doubles – without using the copying charm which didn't work on books after a certain year – went to Hogwarts and if Hogwarts had it, then it went to P.A 2.

Sophia frowned thoughtfully, "It's been at least six months," wrinkling her brow as he tried to figure it out, they didn't keep track of time the way they used to. Even while they attended 'school' they weren't one for writing the dates, but maybe a day would come where they began again. They marked the months by the seasons nowadays, when the days got darker quicker and the nights longer. It's how they used the passage of time, birthdays and Christmas – Yule – weren't celebrated anymore. She could remember her last celebration, it was in the prison before they had to leave their first true home since the apocalypse started. By true home she meant not anywhere that meant sleeping in a tent or on someone else's property but somewhere she could sleep in a room of her own.

"There might be some you've not read, we'll go down in a week and find them, alright?" Percy suggested, he wasn't going to suggest any sooner, Harry and Daryl deserved time to themselves, and Harry needed to allow his body to heal. He'd really emphasised that to Daryl, magic was capable of a lot, but that? Going through child birth? His insides were likely bruised to fuck, and it would take a while before he actually felt better. Percy knew Harry didn't take care of himself, too stubborn and didn't even realize anything was wrong, too much neglect over the course of his life. If anyone could get Harry to take it easy, it was Daryl.

Sophia gaped, a whole week?

"Best take up his offer kid, we didn't bring much of anything with us," Charlie laughed, patting at her shoulder almost causing her legs to buckle under his weight. They had been struggling, truly at the end of their tethers, thank Merlin and all the gods for his reunion with his brothers, and Harry of course, who was like a brother to his siblings which made him a sibling to him too even if they barely knew each other. Or rather, Harry barely knew him, he certainly had his share of letters from his siblings about Harry and what shenanigans they got up to. Okay, so he did get involved in his shenanigans when the kid was eleven. It had been fun though, he must admit, but anything back then was thought of fondly.

Ezekiel just stared at everyone in the room his lip slightly curled, unable to believe what he was seeing. They were just talking and going on like someone wasn't hands deep in someone's stomach! Was this normal for this group? Swallowing thickly, recalling the time they'd met at the utter disgust that they'd displayed over his theatrics. Had they been just as secluded as the group Harry had just dealt with? For he felt as if he was naïve compared to everyone here who was treating this entire thing like it was a meeting! "Sure, just talk like their ain't a man giving birth…" he couldn't help but retort boarding on sarcasm.

Then there was a displeased cry and the room descended into utter silence.

One of the twins was out, now it was just the matter of getting the second one out.

"Blanket!" Hershel commanded, accepting the one Luna gave him, and holding his arms out for the babe as Severus handed it over. "The Boy, now do you wish to cut the cord?" wrapping the boy firmly in the blanket, keeping him warm.

"Don't bother, it will fade away within seconds now it no longer needs to be tethered." Severus told Hershel, one thing he'd forgotten to mention and the book didn't mention. "How's the pain?" this he asked Harry, as muttering began again, when they noticed that would be the umbilical cord in a child born from a woman, disappearing from the babe in Hershel's arms.

Harry's nostrils just continued to flare as he glared at Severus as if he was the one personally caused him all that harm. Which to be fair, he currently was, since it was his hands in Harry's body.

"Harry?" Severus' gaze zeroed in on Harry, he needed an answer. If things went wrong, he needed to be able to gage what was happening. "The pain level?"

Inhaling sharply, gritting his teeth, "I'd rather be put under the Cruciatus Curse." His entire body felt like a nerve end, the pain was so intense he could see black spots swimming in his vision.

"This prolonged? You'd be a vegetable." Severus said dryly, not at all perturbed by Harry's behaviour. He should consider himself lucky really, women went through worse when it came to birthing babes. They could go days, trying to birth their child, whereas Harry only had to put up with pain for at best twenty minutes, usually less, but go figure Harry would be one to alter the records when there was no call for them any longer.

Harry huffed, "Get her out of me, now," his voice slurring slightly, as he fell back a few inches before jerking himself back into position, the pain was just too much for his body to handle, and with the blood loss it was beginning to make him feel nauseous and faint.

"Hold him up," Severus commanded, "Luna ready the potions, red one first!" he was losing too much blood, he had to get the baby out now. It wasn't easily done, the sac was bigger on the inside. He needed a blood replenisher and pain relief draught soon, otherwise things were about to get messy and Poppy wasn't here to help. "Got him." he told them, before easing the babe through the opening he'd created to retrieve them.

Ezekiel gagged, it looked so fake to his eye, but actually seeing the babies brought forth told him it wasn't a jest. It's something even he wouldn't have thought up during his most theatrical acts. He'd toned it down since meeting Harry, by toned it down, he meant stopped it entirely after a time. Surprisingly, he'd gained a hell of a lot more respect from his people. He'd thought they needed him the way he'd acted, apparently not.

A noisy cry penetrated the stillness and broke Ezekiel out of his thoughts.

The second babe was here at long last.

"Thank fuck, give me the pain relief draught, now!" Harry said, giving Daryl a gimlet glare, "Not. Happening. Again." he told him, becoming distracted by the babe being placed on his chest, a look of awe and wonder encompassing him. "Maybe not happening again." he added, utterly besotted by the new life in his hands. Oh, would you look at them, he couldn't help but wonder what they'd look like. Would they take after the Potter side of the family as it had done for generations?

Merle barked out an amused laugh, both at Harry's statement and the look on Daryl's face.

"Wha…?" Daryl gaped at Harry as if he'd spoken a different language. This ain't happening again, ain't no way. however, he couldn't get the words out, not when Hershel was giving him the second wrapped bundle, only this one was crying ear splitting wails he hasn't heard since Judith was a little ass-kicker. Then his world narrowed in around the bundle, his daughter, one of his twins, who was in his arms, and how he'd interacted with Judith came back, as he did the motions, rocking her, the gentle motion seemed to soothe her as she quietened down.

Yeah, reading books didn't prepare him for this shit, he'd deluded himself.

"This is some of the weirdest shit I've ever seen," Ezekiel confessed, as he knelt before Harry and could see the child for himself. He couldn't believe magic could give men children, it was completely wild.

Harry laughed incredulously, "Weirdest shit? Seriously? Coming from you? The performance you were giving when we first met?" sighing softly, as Severus began to close the wounds after making sure he had the entirety of the sac and nothing was left behind.

Nobody could see Ezekiel's blush but his quietness spoke volumes and Andrea, Carol and Carl laughed in rememberance.

"That was so funny," Carl confessed, "I don't think I've ever seen that look on Harry's face before or since." Attempting to show the face Harry had made, and it really was comical.

"Hey, do Ron a favour and don't name the kid after him." Charlie said with a laugh, "He hated his name, poor great uncle Ronald, didn't much like his either from the tales our parents shared. His second name had been worse, poor Bilius, at least his father got a somewhat normal name compared to his two brothers.

Harry smiled, quite nostalgic, a hint of guilt buried within his heart, he didn't want to name his children anything used. He wanted to have their own identity, not named after friends, parents, or hell, famous people.

"What names do you have in mind?" Susan asked kindly.

Harry glanced at Severus, to see how it was going, noticing everyone's reactions which got a sardonic grin on his face.

"Don't you dare, Potter," Severus warned him, he wasn't naming a kid after him either.

Harry snorted, "Land another kid with the name Severus?" he said quietly, the pain had faded now after Luna gave him, the much needed potions, but it left him nigh on sleepy. It was a very strong dose he had been given, and for good reason. "Perhaps in another life."

Severus inclined his head, yes, perhaps another life, one where he hadn't survived perhaps? Not that he'd wish his name on any child in any universe, especially not an apocalyptic one where he was staying primarily in the muggle world (for all intents and purposes) but it would be a mixture soon enough, since Hogwarts was attempting to turn itself back into a school and allow only children from 8-18 and the professors. Allowing them in earlier because they were going to be learning a broader subject reach than the education that say, Harry had whilst at school.

"Luna, Merle, you should continue the meeting, it needs to be had," Harry told them, not sounding as serious as he'd usually be given the potions he was currently on. "The book with the questions is still in the room, just go through them for me, well, the ones that we hadn't used yet anyways." His fingers brushing through the head of hair, the babes would need washed properly and fed very soon.

"But I don't want to leave you so soon," Luna protested, she wanted to spend time with him and the twins.

Harry forced himself to blink rapidly in an attempt to keep himself awake and alert, but it was almost futile. "I know, but it will only take a few hours, at most, its important."

Luna sighed before nodding resignedly, the urge to coo at them was so strong. "Alright, but only if I can hold her right now!" Luna said, giving grabby motions for him.

"Go ahead," he swallowed, he didn't feel like he had a good grip of her anyway, his arms ached and they were shaking from the strain of that ache.

"So…their names?" Lori's excited exclamation was met with enthusiasm from the others.

"Our boy, Hunter Evans Potter-Dixon," Harry stated, causing Severus to startle, who was luckily finished and Harry's abdomen was fully healed.

Severus stared at Harry stunned, he shouldn't have been really, but the Potter family was an ancient one, to have it changed or added on to just wasn't done. He hated his muggle name and would have done anything to be able to go by his mother's last name, Prince. Absolutely anything, unfortunately he wasn't able to do so, or hadn't been…the world wasn't the same now…perhaps he could, something to think on at any rate.

"As for our girl…we didn't come up with something we both agree on," Harry said softly, a fond look on his face. "We decided early on we weren't going to use friends or family names, give them a fresh identity and not having to live up to anyone."

"So, no Luna or Sophia," Sophia said with a laugh. She had been watching the proceedings curiously, she knew exactly what was going to happen. She'd asked Severus for a copy of the book on the procedure for pregnancies. For male pregnancies. She found herself constantly fascinated by magic and it's capabilities. More specifically, she loved learning about all magical animals, she actually wanted to visit Charlie and find out more about Dragons, it was so very rare to get a chance to talk to the leaders of their respective groups. They were busy taking care of everything and everyone, perhaps when the babies were born Charlie might stay and be able to answer some of her questions. Charlie is said to have worked at a sanctuary for Dragons! Although, Percy had agreed to help her find the right books! Which she couldn't wait! She'd be counting down the days.

"Sorry, darling, but no," Harry said kindly, squeezing her hand, hoping there was no bad feelings but knowing Sophia she wouldn't feel bad about it. "But if I did consider using names, they would have been the top two."

Merle eyed Luna's fascination with the babe with trepidation, ugh, he had a feeling his days were numbered. She gone and got baby fever.

A/N – shorter than usual I know, but for the life of me I couldn't come up with a girls name that would suit! You'd think it was something terribly important and life altering or you know a real child :D anyone else go through that? When writing characters that are oddly enough only going to be in the last few chapters Lol any suggestions would be very welcomed, hopefully I've not make a mistake though and that they did decide on a girl's name (would just be my luck that I'd forget) but I do remember the boys name :D soooo what else do you want to see? I mean you're going to get like 5/6 bulk updates of this until it's finished so anything you do want to see written now is the time to say! It's coming to it that everything is going to be wrapped up with hopefully a nice little bow and no need for a return to edit bits and pieces. This all sounds familiar :P I guess I've been asking you all that for a while now but it's a promise kept since they wanted the lead up to the pregnancy and after it to be written and that's what I've done :D and sniggers - Poor Merle hahahaha
