Chapter 526 Lucky Idea

Life for Lucky Bucky Jeffers was pretty damned great. He'd lost his beautiful Swedish nurse Johanna to a tech billionaire, but that was the only dark cloud in his otherwise bright sunny life. He had all his casts off and had finished physical therapy so he was back to normal and feeling great.

He was flush with money. The manufacturer of the street sweeper company had paid up. Turns out the street sweeper that swept him up might have had a defective part. They wrote him a nice big check.

The city of Charming was his attorney's next target. It turned out if they had done proper maintenance on the street sweeper, the defective part would have been detected and replaced. It also turned out the city hadn't properly trained their sweeper maintenance staff. That was going to be an even fatter check. He was going to be set for life.

People often thought of him as stupid because he was accident prone and he frequently pretended to be slightly stupid. It gave him an advantage because people underestimated him. Soon he was going to be a millionaire and one of the richest men in Charming. Who was the stupid one now?

The only thing missing from his near perfect life was hanging out and being a Son. He couldn't exactly transfer charters because the Laredo charter didn't exist anymore. He needed Clay to vouch for him and get SAMCRO to let him be a full patch. He was too damned old to be a prospect and he had done his time as a prospect.

Clay kept dragging his feet about letting him into SAMCRO. He'd been patient long enough and now that he was healthy there was no reason he couldn't be a member of the MC again. He was done with subtlety. He was going to come right out and tell Clay that if he wasn't part of SAMCRO, Clay was going to end up with his ass in a jail cell for killing that woman who ratted on Laredo for sex trafficking kids.

It was an understatement to say that Clay was angry and unhappy. That little bastard Bucky just threatened to give the tape he made of him telling him about killing that woman who ratted. He wanted to grab that little son of a bitch and screw his head off his shoulders or pound him into the ground until there was nothing left but a bloody pulpy mess.

Bucky claimed to have contingences. Who knew that piece of shit even knew a word with that many syllables? Said that if he died under suspicious circumstances his lawyer was going to turn the tape over to the police. Then the smug asshole told him that the attorney that had the tape wasn't the attorney handling all his lawsuits.

Bucky needed to die in a fatal accident. The bastard had supernatural luck in escaping accidents that should have killed him. Clay could try to arrange some kind of fatal accident but the son of a bitch would probably walk away from it.

He was demanding that he become part of SAMCRO. The Laredo chapter of Sons had been erased from Sons' history. Sex trafficking children including some who were toddlers wasn't a good look for the club. A member of the Laredo chapter would never be welcomed into SAMCRO or any other Sons chapter. There wasn't any point in even trying.

Bucky refused to even consider just hanging around the clubhouse. He wanted to wear the cut and ride with the MC. Bucky refused to go through the process of being a hang around and prospect before getting patched in.

This is what was known as a fucking insurmountable problem, Clay thought. Normally, he'd go to Jax, but he didn't think the little prince would be onboard with an attempt to get someone from the Laredo chapter patched to SAMCRO. He could ask Tig for help, but he didn't think Tig could be of much help.

He could kill Bucky and hope like hell that he was bluffing. He could arrange an accident and hope this time it would be fatal. It would be a tricky. And if Bucky survived and figured out that Clay had caused the accident, Bucky would rat him out about his killing that woman.

Was there any way he could get Bucky into SAMCRO? There was no way the guys would let someone from Laredo into SAMCRO. The other chapters wouldn't like it either. Each MC is responsible for screening its members. There is trust among the charters to only allow appropriate members. Bucky wasn't an appropriate member and the MC would take heat for associating with Bucky.

And there was the town of Charming. The fact that Bucky was from the Laredo child sex trafficking chapter would get out. Hell, Hale would probably run a background check on Bucky before his first day as a member was over. The town would find out about Bucky's past and SAMCRO would lose the reputation and respect most of Charming felt for the MC.

OK. That was it; there was no way Bucky could join SAMCRO. There was no way he could make that happen. It hit him then. The answer was so clear. Bucky couldn't be Bucky.

Bucky needed to be someone else. A member from a small charter that no one had ever seen. Maybe a small chapter that wasn't in existence anymore. They had all the charters and their histories and membership on Facebook. He could find another identity for Bucky. They could call him by his nickname. Instead of being a member of SAMCRO, he would convince Bucky to be a retired member from the charter that matches his new ID. He could still hang out with the MC and go on rides. He just couldn't vote or attend meetings.

That was it the perfect solution. All he had to do was find Bucky a new ID to use

Will Clay figure out the flaw in his plan before or after he puts in play?

I have Long Covid and I was doing really well until about four of five weeks ago when I had a relapse. That's why it has taken me so long to do new chapters. I haven't lost interest in writing this or any of my stories. I suffer from extreme fatigue and brain fog among the other usual symptoms.

I'm looking forward to finishing Taming Ava so I can devote more time to Future Perfect.
