Chapter 534 Jax's Arrival
"
Scarlett went to the door when the doorbell rang. Despite expecting Jax, she didn't fling open the door. She looked out the peephole, saw Jax standing there and then opened the door. Her lips were already curved into a smile. She didn't know how long it would last but every time she saw him, her heart beat a little faster.
He came in, his hair still damp from a shower and she caught the scent of him woodsy and citrusy.
"Where's your dad?"
"Kitchen."
He grinned, wrapped his arms around her and kissed her.
"It's been three weeks," he said lifting his head after several moments.
"It's been less than three days," she corrected tartly.
"It felt like three weeks," Jax said.
"I don't think my dad's going to leave the kitchen."
He took that as an invitation to lower his head and kiss Scarlett again No man's kisses had ever left her feeling like an electric current was coursing through her body.
Despite it being less than three days, she'd missed him too. Sex had changed their relationship. She felt closer to him and hungered for his touch more intensely than before. Now, she understood why people placed such an importance on being in love.
After a minute, she found the willpower to pull away from him.
"My dad's going to get suspicious," Scarlett whispered.
"I suspect your father knows that we kiss," Jax said drily.
"Do you want to come back with me after dinner?"
Jax's blue eyes lit up with amusement.
"You really have to ask?" he demanded with a wolfish grin.
"I may have missed you a little," she said holding up a thumb and forefinger and moving them a half inch a apart.
"Keep it up," he said in a husky growl, "and you'll be sleeping alone tonight. Remember how unhappy you were when I wouldn't kiss you?"
"Those were some dark days," Scarlett said dramatically.
"Behave yourself or I could withhold more than my melt your bones kisses."
"You're a cruel man, Jax Teller."
He gave her a deliberately loud lip smacking kiss on the lips.
Scarlett's felt her face redden.
She led him down the hall to the kitchen/family room area.
"That smells like one of my favorite dishes," Jax said.
"Scarlett's favorite Thai dish," Decker confirmed.
"I helped," Scarlett said.
Her father raised an eyebrow at her.
"You are really going to take credit for helping?"
"OK. I only cut the limes, but I beat up the peanuts." Decker and Jax chuckled at Scarlett's word choice.
She leaned back against Jax, his arm around her as she watched her father. Life was perfect. She was with the two men she loved.
Nothing was going to take that away from her. Her psycho-ex was safely locked behind bars. She was going to quit worrying about him.
Big plot twist ahead with the psycho ex.
