threads of infinity: A Target on His Back
The sound of slow, deliberate footsteps echoed through the polished halls of the Jujutsu High council chambers. Yuta Okkotsu stood at attention before the gathering of the higher-ups, his sharp gaze betraying none of the unease crawling beneath his skin. The room was dimly lit, save for the glow of cursed seals etched into the walls—a testament to the tradition and paranoia of the jujutsu elite.
One of the elders, his voice grating with age and authority, addressed Yuta:
"Yuta Okkotsu, Special Grade Sorcerer. You've proven your loyalty to the school and your dedication to the jujutsu world. But now, the stakes have risen."
Yuta didn't flinch as a heavy folder was slammed onto the table before him. A photograph slid out, revealing Tsukasa in his battered cloak, walking through the ruins of Shibuya.
"This rogue sorcerer," another elder began, his tone dripping with contempt, "has caused untold destruction, defied the natural order, and undermined the system we've worked so hard to maintain. His actions have thrown the balance of the jujutsu world into chaos."
Yuta frowned, carefully considering his words. "You mean he's a threat to your control."
There was a pause, the tension thick as cursed energy. The lead elder leaned forward. "Semantics. The fact remains: Tsukasa Gojo must be dealt with before he brings about further calamity."
Yuta glanced at the photograph, his brows furrowed. "And you're tasking me with this assassination?"
"Who else can we entrust?" another voice chimed in. "He is beyond ordinary sorcerers. His grasp of cursed techniques makes him untouchable. Only you, with your abilities, stand a chance. Do you refuse the will of the council?"
Yuta said nothing for a long moment, his hands balling into fists by his sides. Inside, doubt and frustration churned, but outwardly, he remained calm.
"If this is the mission, I'll accept it," he said finally, his tone heavy. "But know this—I will not fight blindly. If I find reason to doubt your orders, I'll act as I see fit."
The elders exchanged wary glances, but no one protested. The bounty had been set, and the hunt for Tsukasa was officially underway.
