Chapter 31: Leap of Faith
After unlocking new layers of the Master Sword's potential, Link thanked Ōetsu for his guidance. "I appreciate everything you've done for me. I'll let you know if I make contact with the other spirits."
Ōetsu gave a theatrical bow, his flamboyant grin practically glowing. "No need to thank me, kid! You've got what it takes. But, oh, if you manage to pull off some world-bending miracle with those spirits, you better tell me every detail. Inspiration strikes best when it's shared!"
Link laughed. "Deal. But, uh… how exactly am I supposed to get back?"
Ōetsu gestured dramatically to the edge of his forge. "Oh, that's simple! Just jump."
Link froze, staring at the endless void of concentrated reishi swirling below. "Jump?!"
Ōetsu nodded, crossing his arms. "That's right. Everyone else would burn up before hitting the ground, but you're not 'everyone else.' I bet your magic can protect you. The fall should only take about a week."
"A week?" Link's eyes widened as the thought of falling nonstop for that long made his stomach churn.
"Don't be so dramatic!" Ōetsu said, grinning. "It's not as bad as it sounds. You'll even get used to it after the first three days!"
Link stepped back from the edge, shaking his head. "I think I'll pass on that." Reaching into his pouch, he pulled out Farore's Wind, the magical spell he hadn't used in ages. "Let's see if this still works…"
Ōetsu tilted his head, intrigued. "What's that? Some kind of teleportation spell?"
"Something like that," Link replied. "It's supposed to take me to a specific spot I set up earlier. Hopefully, it still remembers."
The spell glowed a brilliant green as Link activated it. He gave Ōetsu a nod of appreciation. "Thanks again for all your help!"
"Good luck, kid!" Ōetsu called, watching as Link disappeared in a swirl of emerald light.
Scene Transition: Kurotsuchi's Lab
Link reappeared in the middle of Kurotsuchi's lab, startling both the scientist and Nemu. Kurotsuchi jumped back, his usual unnerving smirk replaced by wide-eyed shock. "What in the name of science—?! Intruder!"
"It's me, Kurotsuchi," Link said quickly, raising his hands in a gesture of peace. "Sorry for the sudden entrance. I used Farore's Wind to get back, and this was the last place I marked."
Kurotsuchi narrowed his eyes, adjusting his hat as his mind raced. "Fascinating… You'll have to explain the mechanics of that spell to me later. But tell me, how did it bypass Soul Society's barriers? And what is its margin of error?"
"I'd love to, but I just got back from a grueling adventure and really need to get home to Momo," Link replied, sidestepping the mad scientist's inquisitive gaze.
Nemu stepped forward, bowing politely. "Welcome back, Sir Link. Lady Momo has been eagerly awaiting your return."
Link smiled warmly at her. "Thanks, Nemu. I won't keep her waiting."
Scene Transition: Momo's Home
At home, Momo was tidying up after the girls' party from the night before. Though the gathering had been fun, she couldn't shake the emptiness she felt without Link there. Every so often, she'd glance at the door, hoping he'd walk through it.
Her wish was granted when a familiar green light filled the room, and Link appeared before her, still glowing faintly from Farore's Wind.
"Link!" she cried, dropping the dish she was holding and rushing into his arms.
Link caught her with a soft laugh, wrapping his arms around her tightly. "I'm home," he said, the tension from his journey melting away in her embrace.
Momo pulled back slightly, her cheeks flushed with joy. "I missed you so much. How was the Royal Palace? Did you learn anything new?"
Link smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "More than I expected. I'll tell you everything, but first…" He leaned in, capturing her lips in a gentle kiss, savoring the warmth and love radiating from her.
When they finally pulled apart, Momo gazed up at him, her eyes shining. "Welcome back, my hero."
Link nodded, holding her close. "It's good to be home."
As Link carried Momo to their room, the world outside seemed to fade away. He gently laid her on their bed, gazing at her flushed cheeks and wide eyes. Momo tried to speak, her voice soft.
"Link, the others... they're still in the house," she whispered, her blush deepening.
Link silenced her with a tender kiss, his lips brushing hers with a mixture of love and longing. He didn't need words to express how much he had missed her. Momo surrendered to the kiss, her worries melting away as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

Downstairs
The muffled sounds from the couple's room did not go unnoticed. Rangiku, sitting in the living room, raised an eyebrow and smirked.
"Well, they're certainly making up for lost time," she remarked, swirling her drink.
Yoruichi leaned back, her grin widening. "Good for them. It's about time Link showed Momo how much she means to him."
Soi Fon fidgeted, her cheeks flushed. She kept glancing toward the hallway leading upstairs.
"Calm down, Soi Fon," Yoruichi teased, nudging her shoulder. "You're not jealous, are you?"
Soi Fon shot her a glare. "Of course not! I'm just... concerned about the noise level."
Rangiku laughed, setting her drink down. "Sure, sure. I think I'll head out, though. If I stay any longer, I might start imagining things I shouldn't." She winked at the others before grabbing her coat.
Yoruichi turned to Soi Fon, her grin mischievous. "Come on, let's go. I need to 'calm you down' before you do something reckless like barging in there."
"Yoruichi-sama!" Soi Fon protested, but she didn't resist as Yoruichi dragged her out of the house.
Rukia, left alone, sighed and resumed cleaning. The sounds from upstairs were distracting, but she pushed through, tidying every surface with methodical precision.

In the Bedroom
Link and Momo lay tangled together, their breathing heavy as they basked in the aftermath of their reunion. Momo rested her head on Link's chest, her fingers idly tracing patterns on his skin.
"I missed you so much," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.
Link kissed the top of her head, his arms tightening around her. "I missed you more, Momo. I thought about you every moment I was gone."
Momo smiled, her heart swelling with love. "Promise me you won't leave again without me again."
"I promise," Link replied, his voice firm.

Later That Evening
As the house quieted, Link and Momo finally emerged from their room, looking refreshed and content. Momo clung to Link's arm, her face still slightly flushed.
Rukia looked up from her spot on the couch, relieved to see them. "Welcome back, Link. It's good to see you... both."
Link chuckled, scratching the back of his head. "Thanks, Rukia. Sorry if we disturbed you."
Rukia waved it off, her cheeks pink. "It's fine. I managed to get a lot of cleaning done."
As the three sat together, the warmth of the home surrounded them. Despite the challenges that lay ahead, Link and Momo knew they were lucky to have such strong bonds with their friends. Together, they would face whatever came next.
As the evening progressed, Link couldn't shake the odd feeling he'd been noticing all day. While chatting with Momo and Rukia, he saw how close they seemed—Rukia holding Momo's hand at every opportunity and staying by her side constantly. It wasn't just casual closeness; it felt... intimate.
When Momo left to prepare dinner, Link decided to address it. He turned to Rukia, his expression calm but curious.
"Rukia," he started, folding his arms. "I've noticed you've been awfully close to Momo today. Did something happen while I was gone?"
Rukia froze, her face turning a deep shade of pink. She hesitated, then smiled softly. "We just got closer. That's all."
Link raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Closer how? Should I be worried?"
Rukia glanced at her hand, realizing she was still holding Momo's warmth in her palm. She quickly let go and stammered, "If you're worried, maybe you should be cuddling her more. That's all I'll say."
Her teasing tone didn't land as expected. Instead, Link's expression shifted into one of playful jealousy. Without another word, he grabbed Rukia's hand and marched off toward the kitchen, where Momo was humming softly as she prepared dinner.
"Momo, dinner can wait," Link said firmly as he took her hand too.
Momo blinked in surprise, her hands still damp from washing vegetables. "What's going on?"
Link didn't answer directly. Instead, he simply led both women toward the bedroom with a determined stride. Momo's face turned red as she glanced at Rukia, whose expression mirrored her own mix of shock and curiosity.
"Link, what are you doing?" Momo asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
He opened the door to their room, stepping inside before turning to them. "Get in your pajamas. Now."
Both women exchanged wide-eyed looks, their thoughts racing. Was Link about to do what they thought he was about to do? Were they ready for this kind of closeness?
Before they could voice their hesitations, Link added with a smirk, "This is Rukia's punishment for stealing my wife while I was gone. She's going to be in a cuddle sandwich tonight."
The tension broke instantly, replaced by mutual laughter and relief. Both Momo and Rukia blushed but couldn't help smiling at his declaration.
Momo stepped forward, placing a hand on Link's chest. "Is that all? You scared me for a second!"
Rukia chuckled softly, brushing her hair back. "A cuddle sandwich, huh? I guess I can live with that."
The three of them changed into their sleepwear, Momo in her tunic-inspired pajamas, Rukia in her usual Chappy set, and Link in a simple shirt and loose pants. They climbed into the bed, with Rukia sandwiched snugly between Momo and Link.
The warmth of their shared connection filled the room as they lay together, their breathing syncing as sleep began to claim them. Link tightened his hold on Rukia and Momo, smiling to himself.
"See? This is the only way to keep my wife safe," he murmured playfully.
Momo giggled, her head resting on his shoulder. "Don't be silly. You're the one we feel safe with."
Rukia closed her eyes, letting herself relax into the comfort of the moment. "I could get used to this," she muttered before drifting off.
And so, the night ended peacefully, with all three of them sharing a bond that grew deeper with every passing moment.
