Chapter three:
A few hours has felt like days for both of them.
Raph has been doing his best. He makes sure Leo is hydrated and doesn't overheat. He helps Leo to not pass out by talking to him. He just talks about anything as Leo just needs to focus on his voice. He does let them have quieter moments as well. He tries to alternate so one doesn't become too much. He has noticed a little while ago the others scent is showing it's unique parts.
At least now they'll be able to know for sure it's Leo if his scent lingers on someone.
Raph can pick up on a mix of a sweet herbal tea and fallen rain. He supposes that it is fitting for Leo who has a certain tea he drinks everyday.
It does happen to be Splinters favorite tea and he doesn't mind sharing any of it.
Raph has a feeling that Leo's scent will gain it's either alpha or omega scent soon. He doesn't doubt that it'll be one of the next things to happen. He just hopes that Leo's unique scent coming out means that it should be over soon. He feels his phone buzz and glances to it as Leo seems to right now prefer no talking.
'Hey. How's it going?' The text reads from Donnie.
Raph quickly types back. ' He's been making it through as okay as he can. Hes got the unique scent part but not any omega or alpha scent mixed in yet. It doesn't seem to be letting up as it seems to still be just as rough on him.' He sends it and waits for a response. He looks Leo over as he waits. He makes sure the other doesn't need to cool off or anything. He gets a text response after a few moments so he checks it.
'Well that means that you should be able to soon tell which side he ends up on. The alpha or omega scent comes out as one of the last parts. When the body has shifted to help focus on which side said bodies pick. I can tell you're still worried but it should be just a little longer now. Keep me posted.'
'I will.' Raph puts his phone down once more. He focuses on Leo again. He reaches out placing a hand on the others cheek. He looks over the others face to see if he might want to talk a little. He pauses as the others scent changes once more. He picks up on a developing addition to the scent. 'This is it.' He thinks to himself as he waits to see what Leo will be from now on.
It takes a few moments then the scent finally settles to get a clear profile on it.
Raph picks up the scent of an omega. He had thought Leo might become an alpha, though he'll still accept the other even as an omega.
Those on the surface may prefer that omegas be submissive to every alpha.
However Raph knows he and his family don't think like that. He hates how other alphas treat omegas. He'll protect Leo as much as he has to from any nasty alphas. He does notice that he feels the urge to be closer to Leo. He almost swears that Leo's scent is drawing him in. He quickly shifts his mask around to over his nose. He makes sure he can't smell Leo as strongly at least, Leo's scent is rather strong since it just changed. He'll tell Leo later when he isn't suffering. "It should be almost over." He encourages the other gently.
Leo glances to him with hope that he's right in his eyes.
"You're almost there. Trust me. Just a little more." Raph notices Leo shakily reach towards him. He takes Leo's hand into his own. "I know you can do this. You've made it this far. You can complete this change. I believe in you."
Leo holds onto Raph's hand as if to remind himself that he's not alone right now.
Raph is all too happy to let Leo do this. His own hand holding the others hand back.
Suddenly Leo's hand goes a little slack and his eyes shut. His body almost seems to try to relax only to tense again as it's not over.
"Leo?" Raph feels his heart hammer in his chest in worry at seeing this. "Hey. Leo." He reaches over placing a hand on Leo's cheek. He finds the other doesn't move at all when he does so, and just seems to let whatever will happen happen. "Leo! Open your eyes." He demands getting scared that something is going wrong. "Don't you dare let something go wrong now Leo. Not after you've made it so far through this. Come on just open your eyes. Please."
Leo gives a soft groan not sounding happy about something. He almost sounds on the verge of falling unconscious.
"Come on Leo. Open up your eyes. At least do that for me." Raph pleads hoping his voice will reach the other. His heart pounding so hard in his chest. "Leonardo!" He calls as the other doesn't seem to respond. He gently places a hand on the others shoulder gently shaking him. "Leonardo! Answer me! Give me at least something!" He pleads hoping that making his voice louder will get some sort of reaction. He finds himself starting to shake in fear that things are all going wrong. He can't seem to get Leo to respond. He starts cursing in his head as he feels panic swell in his chest. "Just hold on Leo. I'm gonna call Donnie and we're going to help you through this. You're gonna be okay." He grabs his cellphone almost dropping it in his shaking hands. He quickly dials Donnies number hitting the call button. He puts it on speaker and places it next to him. Turning his attention to focusing back on Leo. Hoping for any sort of sign from the other. "Come on. Please Leo. Just give me some sort of sign that you're okay." He pleads to the other as he waits for Donnie to answer. "Answer your damn phone!" He demands to the phone not even looking at it.
"I did." Donnies voice comes through it to which Raph quickly apologizes. "What's going on?"
"I don't know! Everything was going fine but I think he might have passed out! But it's clearly not over yet!" Raph explains quickly hoping that Donnie has a solution that'll work. "I can't get him to respond and it really seems like he might have indeed passed out!"
"Okay. Try to calm down a little. Panicking isn't going to solve anything." Donnie tells Raph who hadn't even realized his panic could be heard. "We'll try a few things before we take drastic measures. We might be able to get him to respond." He continues after Raph nods even though he can't see the other. "Try cooling him down with the cloth a bunch first. Maybe the cold will bring him back. Just do more. Truly make him feel the cold of the cloth."
"Okay." Raph grabs the cloth and begins to gently wipe Leo's head and parts of his face. "Come on." He says quietly to himself as he makes sure that the cloth stays cold. He keeps going only pausing when Leo slightly shifts as if to slightly try to get away. "Okay well all that got was that he tried to shift away."
"It's at least a start." Donnie assures him. "We'll stop that for now. We don't want to push that too far."
"What else is there that might help to get him to wake up again?" Raph inquires to Donnie putting the cloth away for now.
"Since we got a slight reaction with the cloth we'll try another simple thing. Does he have his alpha or omega scent yet?"
"Yes. Omega."
"That's interesting. Okay then you know how to increase your own scent right?" Donnie gets a sound of confirmation. "Lay by him and do that. Shift him to make sure he'll smell you. An omega smelling an alpha super close to them can get their attention. It works the other way around as well. Since he just presented as omega, even though it's not over just yet, he should be rather sensitive to others scents. Especially an alphas like yours. Since a presentation lets one pick up on those things easier once the omega or alpha scent appears. Just don't get lost in his scent."
"Don't worry. I put my mask over my nose to help with that." Raph assures Donnie then climbs to lay right next to Leo. He uses a hand to gently lead Leo close to his neck, one of the spots with the other being the wrist where the scent is the strongest. He picked the neck feeling that it was easier to get Leo to reach than his wrist. He pushes his scent out which as far as he knows is used to make others back off. He supposes it makes sense that it can be used for this as well. "I'm right here. Come back to me Leo. Smell me." He encourages by whispering where Leo's ear is.
It's takes a few moments but then Leo shifts a little closer taking an inhale of Raphs scent. He lets out a soft sound, Raph can't make out what it is though. His eyes shut a little tightly then blink open to half way.
Raph lets out a breath of relief at seeing this. He almost swears he could lose all feeling in his limbs in relief. "He opened his eyes." He tells Donnie who he also hears sigh in relief.
"Okay. That's good. We got him back." Donnie sounds just as relieved as Raph feels. "How does he seem to be doing now that he's back?"
Raph shifts Leo to look at him a bit better. He notices that Leo looks a little dazed though he does see his eyes shift to his face. "Dazed. But he was able to look to my face."
"Makes sense after possibly having passed out. We dodged a huge bullet there." Donnie admits to Raph. "Stay by him. Let your scent help him. We can't let him possibly pass out again. We might not be able to bring him back if he does. You gotta try really hard to keep him alert as much as possible for the rest of the time. Don't worry, with his omega scent there now that shouldn't be for much longer. It should be very close to ending. I can stay on the phone if you want until you feel more comfortable about his condition." He offers to the other clearly wanting the rest to go by well.
"Just a little longer. Just in case something else goes wrong." Raph confirms to which Donnie assures him that he will stay on.
"He might try to get close to smell you again. It might be comforting as he becomes a little more alert. And now that he can really smell your scent."
"Okay." Raph agrees and stays laying right next to Leo. He still is willing to let the other move around any way he wants to. He does remember being told to let him do so.
Leo does shift to have his face close to Raphs neck who lets him.
Raph helps support Leo not wanting him to push himself to stay there. He tries to not take in Leo's own scent with the other so close to him.
They remain like that for a little bit all of them being quiet.
"Raph." Leo speaks the others name so softly that Raph almost missed.
"How are you feeling?" Raph gently inquires to Leo.
"A little better." Leo admits just a little louder.
Raph glances to the phone. "I think it's getting close. He says he's feeling a little better." He tells Donnie to which he feels Leo shift curiously, though not want to pull away from Raphs scent.
"That's good. Then soon he can rest." Donnie confirms to this.
"Stay here." Leo quietly pleads to Raph.
"Don't worry." Raph assures him quietly. "I'm not going anywhere." He promises to the other. He grabs the cold cloth feeling the other is still warm. He gently makes sure that the other doesn't get too hot. "You're almost through this. It's almost over." He is feeling better about how Leo is since he's talking to him. "When will his temperature go back down? It's not fully over yet but should it drop right after?"
"It'll settle down when everything settles down yes." Donnie confirms to Raph. "For now just keep doing what you can to keep him from overheating."
"Doing so." Raph confirms and keeps up what he's doing. He keeps it up and finds that slowly Leo's relaxing. He pulls his mask down enough to take a quick peek at Leo's scent.
Though the whole room smells of Leo now that the actual scent coming off of Leo is settling down.
Raph puts his mask back not wanting to lose himself in the other. He waits a little longer.
Leo fully relaxes and slightly slumps into Raphs arms. His eyes are open halfway to which he slightly glances to Raph.
"I think it's over." Raph tells Donnie. "He's relaxed and everything has settled down."
"Yeah then it's over. Good job both of you. Let him rest now. He's more than likely exhausted." Donnie confirms this sounding so relieved that they made it through. "I'll explain to everyone. You guys take your time there."
"Thank you for helping." Raph thanks the other. He isn't sure they would have gotten through this without Donnie.
"Don't worry about it." Donnie waves it off. "We'll see you guys when you get back." He then hangs up after Raph gives him a goodbye for now.
Raph looks to Leo. "You can sleep now." He tells him. "It's all over now." He can see how tired Leo is just as expected. "You did great. I'm proud of you." He gently lays Leo down making sure he's comfy.
Leo sighs in relief and closes his eyes letting himself drift off into sleep.
Raph carefully shifts away not wanting to wake the other. He is still careful despite that Leo is most likely sleeping like a rock. He cleans up what he's set up leaving the water for whenever Leo wakes. He heads out of the room making sure the lights are off, and the blinds are shut. He wants Leo to get some really good rest in. He knows that things are going to change now that Leo's presented as an omega, though for now he'll focus on helping Leo recover from that.
Meanwhile back at home...
Donnie comes out to the living room finding that Mikey is watching Tv with Casey, April just joins them, and Splinter comes out of the kitchen with a cup of tea. "Guys." He speaks up gaining their attention. "Something big happened. It's all over now but Raph called me. Well it seems that Leo's presentation was just late." He sees worried looks cross their faces as they know that it's very dangerous. "He's okay. It's all done." He assures them.
"What did he present as?" Splinter questions to which Donnie turns to look at him.
"Omega." Donnie admits.
"What? Really?!" Mikey gasps perking up slightly.
"Well then me and Mikey can help him with anything." April offers since both she and Mikey are omegas. She does have an alpha mate which is Casey.
"There will be a slight change of things due to this." Splinter tells them. "But it is good to hear that he is alright. I'll explain when they get back."
Donnie nods so Splinter heads to his room.
"This is so exciting!" Mikey admits with his eyes shining. "I thought that Leo was gonna stay as a beta."
"I think we all thought that." Donnie admits to him meeting with his brothers eyes. "This kind of ended up coming out of nowhere."
The other three nod their heads in agreement to that.
"As it often does when it is late." April adds a verbal agreement as well.
They all can't wait for the two to get back now, though will understand them taking their time after Leo had unexpectedly presented.
