Hot meteor ash filled the air as the glossy plains of Yoshi's Islands smouldered. Yoshi trodded through the hot soils of the jungle, with Perigulus nearly collapsing of exhaustion at one point. Now it was in his sights.

"Perigulus, I need you to setup the intercom and television broadcaster" said Yoshi. He was supposed to be crowned ruler of the island today. He knew what needed to be done. The island was in fact, quite large, and there were many well populated cities such as the Valley of the Capital, Yoshiport and Shy Guy Temple City of the Skies, the autonomous zone of the island, although Yoshi could still have total command if necessary

"Perigulus, do you still have my crown". Perigulus nodded.

"Attention everyone! I am Yoshi Yoshi, your new ruler. If you aren't already aware, I defeated Boshi twice. I will bring a reign of prosperity and peace to this island. Stay in your homes and stick together in this time of crisis. All military and EMS Personell, I charge you to bring relief to the island." Yoshi announced.

"Well said your grace, well said" said Perigulus.

"You will be Second Man of the Island, Perigulus. You have proven yourself more than worthy of the title" said Yoshi. Perigulus kneeled before his new ruler and happily proclaimed his new title over the intercom.

"Where are you going, your grace" said Perigulus

"Let us go for a walk and talk, Perigulus. And from now on, call me Yoshi" said Yoshi.

Meanwhile

"So what's this about a prophecy concerning me?" asked Waluigi.

"Well, you see, long ago it reached my ears and eyes in everywhere that there was to be a series of chaotic events that would continue indefinitely unless a great hero would return a lost Emerald of Peace to it's rightful place. I'm sure you've been informed of the occurence of these events and some background surrounding the prophecy Waluigi" said King Boo as he floated down the catacombs of Boo's Mansion. Spiders were crawling from every crevice in the catacombs and Waluigi had an feeling of unsettlement.

"Spooky, bleh heh heh" cackled King Boo.

"How did you figure?" said Waluigi sarcastically.

"You've gone rather quiet. And if I were you, I'd cut the sarcasm" King Boo warned. He levitated up to a shelf and pulled out a box containing a series of scrolls.

"Do yourself some good for once and take some time to read them" said King Boo. After about fifteen minutes Waluigi had finished reading all of the scrolls.

"It says I need to go on a long and unforgiving quest to return the Emerald of Peace to it's rightful place, in a stone forged by the elements of the Earth stronger than any other stone, in the coldest and most barren point of the most southerely continent. During which I will endure wave after wave of threats and dreary and dark times and learn how a true hero completes his quest" said Waluigi.

"Well, what do you make of it?" asked King Boo

"I would assume it's referring to Surgut's Stone" said Waluigi.

"You'd be right. I'm surprised you've even know of it" said King Boo.

"And that this most southerly point is the South Pole in Ice Land" said Waluigi. King Boo nodded in approval.

"How is this supposed to help me, Barry" Waluigi spat.

"HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT! I AM KING OF THE BOOS, OVERLORD MASTER OF THE UNDERWORLD AND SURPREME REAPER OF DARKNESS" roared King Boo. "AND IF YOU'D ACTUALLY BOTHERED TO TAKE THE TIME AND LOOK AT ALL OF THEM YOU'D HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE IS A MAP".

At Yoshi's Hut

"So you really think this will all work?" asked Perigulus.

"Sure of it. Now rest up and enjoy some of my finest food" said a very drunken Yoshi. If he had one flaw, it was his seemingly mild alcoholism.

"I'll support you and issue commands to my people. But I can only give so much aid and advice" said Perigulus as he took a bite of some of Yoshi's Iconic Spaghetti and Meatballs Pasta. He did, after all, own a large chain of pasta restaurants across the world.

"Don't you worry, my friend. You will part of the greatest empire to ever exist and the best time to be alive" said Yoshi.

Thanks for reading my story, I really do hope you enjoy it. This is the beginning of a great saga, and it will entail the transformation of Waluigi to a weak, sorrowful man to a strong, great hero. I will also really expand on Yoshi's character arc throughout the story.
