Chapter 22: Day off

Dakota City; March 12th 12:32 EDT

With the new addition of his two kids, Icon decided that Joshua would need more space. That brings us to where we are now, Joshua's new house had two floors, tree bedrooms, two and a half baths.

Right now he was having a small get together with Artemis, Raquel, Wally, Dick, Garfield, and Bart.

They're currently having a battle on a Just Dance console that Dick gifted to Joshua, the teams were Joshua, Dick, and Wally (Team Blue) vs Garfield, Bart, and Jasmine (Team Red). Raquel and Artemis were playing with the kids.

Team Red were currently dancing to Thriller and they were acing it. They were hitting every move perfectly and they weren't even looking at the screen. All eye were on them as the song ended.

When their score popped up it showed that they broke the national high score.

"Have fun trying to beat that, grandpa." Jazz said with a smug grin, patting Joshua on the shoulder. "We won't judge you if your score is low, old age might be getting to you anyways." Bart said as he past by Wally. Garfield just did a smug walk past them.

The three of them sat on the couch believing that the won. Team blue just stood there, eyes shadowed, and smiling while grinding their teeth.

Wally and Dick turn to Joshua and vise versa. They all nodded and shared a sinister grin.

Wally went to the console, picked a song, and then they took their positions as the countdown ended.

~Vocal percussion on a whole 'notha level, Coming from my mind! Vocal percussion on a whole 'notha level, Coming from my mind!~

Wally started dancing first.

~Aah! Want Golden Wind! Kono me amareri maroreri marare maro!~

Joshua joined in.

~Aah-ahanh! Want Golden Wind! Kono me amareri maroreri marare maro!~

At this point everyone, including the kids we're watching them with wide eyes and dropped jaws. And then, right as the beat dropped, Dick joined in.

~It's like a burning sunrise! Aho madare himadare punpun kekeke! It's like a burning sunrise! Aho madare himadare punpun kekeke!~

They were dancing like they'd been practicing this forever. Truth be told they did, they had been rehearsing this dance for years after the series Yoyo's weird journey volume 5.

When the song stopped, the three off duty heroes ended it with each doing a bizarre pose.

The silence into the room was palpable. Suddenly, all of team red bowed before team blue.

"We're not worthy! We're not worthy!" the three teens said as they bowed repeatedly. The three senior teen heroes looked down at them with victorious and evil smiles.

"Did you know they could do that?" Artemis asked holding Lian. "If I did I would've joined them, that was awesome!" Raquel said while Darius played with a small force field ball she made.

"Just remember." Wally said. "To never underestimate." Dick said. "The ones who came before you." Joshua finished.

Mount Justice; March 12th 01:15 EDT

M'gann was in the kitchen, humming a tune storing a bowl of batter for some brownies.

As she reached for the sugar she caught sight of an old photo. Is was the old team right after they got Joshua back from Bialya, that was probably the last time that her, Conner, and Joshua were actually friends.

"Hey angelfish, whatcha making?" Lagoon boy asked as he walked up to M'gann and wrapped his arms around her waist.

M'gann giggled half heartily. "Something wrong?" "No, I'm just… reminiscing." "About what?" "Just past fights. Can you preheat the oven for me?" "Sure, but I gotta leave for training right after." "Thanks La'gaan."

After La'gaan left, M'gann put the brownies in the over and sat down in the common area.

Eventually her thoughts drifted back to the friends she lost and their last words to her.

(Flashback)

Miss Martian, in costume, was standing in front of Legend, who was being supported by Zatanna while Superboy stood in front of them, blocking Miss M from reaching them.

Legend looked as scared as a go on who saw Batman laugh, Zatanna was sending Miss M a glare that actually made her feel she was on fire. That was just part of the spell Zatanna used to get Miss M away from Legend.

"GET AWAY FROM HIM! YOU'RE A MONSTER!"

(Flashback end)

Those words reverberated through her head as she let a few tears fall. Her timer beeped, she wiped her eye and composed herself as La'gaan came back into the room.
