Here's the next chapter. Once again, I own only my OCs, not anything else. Hope you enjoy it.
The Prophecy Comes True Part Two
(Jason's Point of View)
"I didn't steal it,". All these days, Phoebe had been infuriated that she had been accused of being a thief. Now, this was her chance to settle this once and for all. "And neither did any of our friends. We tried to find it and get it back to you on time but …".
"You failed,". As expected, Zeus's voice was cold.
"We tried our hardest. And we're here because we have to tell who did steal it,".
Zeus wasn't the slightest bit swayed. I chose to speak up again. "It was Kronos,". Zeus's cold glare sent tingles down my spine. "He's behind all of it,". He turned his back on us.
"He's emerging from Tartarus or trying to," Phoebe struggled to explain appeasingly. "He's coming for all of you. He's coming for Olympus,".
"You may go,".
"Excuse me?!" I was outraged. I could feel the energy burning up inside me again. "Did you not hear what we just said?".
"You are more stupid than the last time I saw you, touched child." Phoebe stood in front of me protectively. "I know who Kronos is. I put him there." Zeus's arrogant smugness made me boil red. And judging from Phoebe's tense shoulders, she was fuming, too. "I know that he's gathering. It's what we do. We snap and plot and strive. It was only a matter of time before he would do so again,". He marched on us again, glaring only at Phoebe. "This little bit of info is the reason I'm letting you leave alive. I have a warm to prosecute now, when I say, 'You may go, ' it means be grateful and be gone,".
"But the war can't continue!" Phoebe's shouts were no match for the thundering vocals of her uncle's retort.
"Child!" Phoebe froze a little, I stayed close to her. Zeus bared his teeth. "The war will proceed, and it ends with my victory. What did you think? That you and I would negotiate?".
"I. 's not 'I'. It's we," Phoebe defended me. "It's 'we. ' We came here together, even though you might try to kill me, even though you tried to kill Jason before, because we thought you would listen. Like you should. Kronos wants you to fight my father. He wants you both weakened,".
"I will not be weakened by my brothers,".
"You already are, you pompous coward." I marched upon him, unafraid to face him even if it meant certain death. "Your family is a mess. They don't support you because they love you. They obey you, because they're afraid of you. What kind of father cares more about power and glory more than his own children?".
"Ares, your son, he turned on you the moment someone stronger showed up. Do you honestly think he'll be the last?" Phoebe challenged. "How afraid of you do they'll be when your dad shows up looking to put you back in your place?".
Zeus raised his bolt to strike her. "No!" I screamed. A burst of energy exploded from within me. Zeus was knocked back. And my feet lost balance. Phoebe caught me as I fell, lying on the ground. I was weakened again all of a sudden. She held me up. As she held my head, I saw that Zeus had been knocked back onto his throne. He still had his hands on his lightning bolt. He fumed and marched on me again.
Phoebe put me down gently and stood in front of me. "Get out of my way, girl," he warned.
"Never. I won't let you hurt him,".
Zeus glared deep into her eyes. She wouldn't back down. "That boy is an abomination!".
"That boy is more of a man than you will ever be, and what's more, he's my friend who has shown more honour than you have ever done in your entire existence." Phoebe's words touched my heart. "And if you are still intent on doing him harm, then you will have to find a way through me first."
"As you wish," Zeus struck her down to the floor beside me. He moved to strike again. Quickly, she shielded me when ….
(Phoebe's Point of View)
Nothing happened. I turned my head and saw a green-topped man with dark hair holding Zeus's back. He had saved Jason and me. "I surrender." I recognised that voice.
"What?" Zeus sounded surprised.
"I surrender!". It was my father. I recognised his facial shape from the Mississippi River.
Zeus back down. Poseidon blocked him as I stood and helped Jason stand up. "Take your victory. Just spare my daughter. And her friend,".
"Your forbidden daughter," Zeus spat out in disgust. "Who should never have been born,".
"The same as your Thalia? Whose bravery still inspires all demigods. Phoebe is one of those heroes. And has shown a measure of that bravery today." He was so proud of me.
Zeus's eyes twitched a little as he remembered his daughter, how she had sacrificed herself to save Luke and Annabeth all those years ago. He eyed me again. "She lives but he dies,".
Jason stepped forward. "Then take it,".
"No," Poseidon defended him again.
"He is a danger to us all." Zeus's words could not be blocked out from Jason's ears. He couldn't stop feeling guilty for all that had happened to us these last few days. "He has no place amongst us,".
"You're wrong," My father defied him. "He is not just anyone. He is the true heir to the throne of Atlantis,".
"The great city you failed to protect." From the way Zeus talked, I could tell that Poseidon looked a little guilty.
Still, he kept on talking. "I swore to his father I would keep him safe, and I intend to keep it. He is every bit a hero as our children are. He has earnt his place amongst us,".
Jason was warmed by his words. First Hephaestus and now my father …
My father and uncle began communicating in ancient Greek. I caught the word 'Patros'. Zeus spoke in English again. "I will have Athena set a meeting. We'll declare my swift and crushing victory …."
"It wasn't a victory, Zeus," Jason stood up. "It was an act of putting an end to a pointless war." He was defending my father the same way he had defended him. "At least he's tried to change and look out for his children, unlike you and everyone else,".
Still, my uncle eyed him dangerously, unmoved by his words again. I pulled him back a bit. "Make sure I never set eyes on these two again,". He eyed my father again. "If he uses whatever power you put inside him against me again, he dies,".
And whoosh! He was gone.
Poseidon exhaled deeply and turned slowly around. I was breathless. "I'll be downstairs." Jason walked off, deciding we needed to be alone for a bit. I faced my father again, still speechless.
"Obedience doesn't come naturally to you, does it?".
"No, sir," I wasn't sure about calling him 'father' yet.
"I must take some of the blame for that, I suppose. The sea does not like to be restrained. Like you,".
I had dreamed of a moment like this my whole life, and now I could finally envisage the first moment I ever had with him. I remember him cradling my head as he stood over the same wooden crib Jason had looked at in the beach hut. "Patros. That was the only word I caught. It means father,".
Poseidon retained his admirable face. "Chiron has taught you well,".
"I didn't learn it from Chiron," I corrected.
Poseidon half-closed his eyes and chuckled a little. "Your mother taught you ancient Greek?".
"She taught me a lot of things. How to brave the storm was one of them,". I could barely hold myself back. I had so many questions I wanted to ask now, but there was one in particular I couldn't hold back. "Can I ask you a question?".
"I don't know when Hades will return her,". His face turned sad and longing. "He can be difficult when he wants to make a point,".
"Do you dream? Ares said gods don't dream,".
"Ares is a moron. Have you not noticed? Of course, we dream. Why do you ask?".
I became emotional all of a sudden. "Do you ever dream about mum?".
My father chuckled softly at the mention of my mother. He missed her deeply. He would have given up his godly heritage to have a life with her and me if he had that choice. Even from afar, he was always watching over us both. He held my face. "I see so much of her in you,". A fell down my face. "You should be proud of the woman you have become,". I saw a pearl in his hand. Was it really that time now? "You must go now. And no matter what happens, take care of each other,".
The pearl dropped.
(Jason's Point of View)
I sat on the steps near Misty. Phoebe was now finally talking to her father, which was what she had always wanted. I stroked Misty's mane but became distracted when I saw a bright glow coming from inside a small temple. The power inside me was fuzzing as if it was pulling me towards it. I decided to check it out. Misty pulled on my top. "Don't worry, girl. I'm just gonna have a look,".
I walked along the rocky platform and into the small temple. There was nothing inside. I had been imagining things. I turned to leave again. The glow came back and so did the fuzzy feeling under my skin. I pushed back some curtains, and I saw a giant pearl. Was it Poseidon's? I stepped closer. The closer I approached, the more transparent the surface turned. I saw a Greek City made of gold and white stone. A palace towered over the kingdom. Was this Atlantis? Was this where I came from?
The image changed. I saw three people talking. Cilix, the same man who had tried to kidnap me back in Las Vegas. And two people wearing crowns. If I was a prince, were they my parents?
I touched the orb. I was falling through a white and misty atmosphere. I landed with a thump in a room of stone. I sat up. I was in the palace of Atlantis.
"My Lord and Lady, I bring news which I fear you will find distressing,". Quickly, I ducked behind a column and saw the same people from before. The man Cilix was talking to had black hair and a grey and black beard. He wore navy blue. His wife beside him had brown hair in a bun and wore a sea-blue dress with golden jewellery.
"Say what you've come to say," the woman ordered. Her voice was cruel. Too cruel to sound motherly.
"Androgeus has betrayed you, my Lord,".
The king looked flabbergasted. "What?".
"This is what he did to me," Cilix pointed to his scarred face. "He sent me tumbling down a mountain,".
"Tell us what happened," his Queen beside him demanded.
"I had the boy in my grasp." He was talking about me. Did these people send Cilix to kidnap me? They couldn't be my parents. "But Androgeus caught up with us. As heartbreaking as this sounds my lord, your son has to be punished,". This man was Androgeus's father. He had betrayed him by saving me.
"I want him hunted down and brought before me,". The king demanded.
"He must die," the queen demanded.
"He is still my son,".
"He has betrayed us,".
"That is not all that, my Lord and Lady," Cilix spoke again. "I have seen Pilius,". The woman looked shocked. "He is intent on capturing Jason like before. He'll stop at nothing to regain Poseidon's gift.".
The queen fumed. "No, absolutely not. Jason must be found and brought to us at once. The power belongs here in Atlantis,". Before I could react, the whole room evaporated around me, and I was in another hallway with an open window at the far end. A hand popped up. I jumped. Androgeus climbed inside. He looked blooded and bruised. And he had a scar down his face. Must had been from the dragon he distracted back in Vegas.
"Androgeus!" I called out. He phased right through me. He couldn't see me. I was completely invisible. I followed him through the hallways of red past braziers, ancient paintings and giant vases. I lost him. I looked around, exploring more of this grand palace which I was guess I came from.
"Brother!" cried a cheerful voice. "We've missed you!". It was the sound of a bright teen girl.
"Brother …" echoed an older voice. "Where have you…?".
"You're hurt!"
"Listen to me, you both. Whatever I'm about to tell you, you must believe me,". It was Androgeus speaking. I managed to track down the source again, and I peered into another room. My saviour was speaking to two other people. A young man a few years younger than him with shorter dark hair and a girl around my age with long hair in waves. They both had brown eyes and wore royal garments. They were both scared.
"Androgeus, what is going on?" the girl asked frantically.
Androgeus walked over to the door and peered out, twisting his head left to right. He closed the door. I phased through and spied on them. "Remember King Aeson?". They nodded. "His heir is in another world parallel to ours. And our father and Pasiphae sent Cilix to hunt him down,".
Androgeus's siblings were flabbergasted. "What?" breathed the brother.
"Our father wants to kill him, Therus,".
The younger sister shook her head. "No … he wouldn't,".
"I know you love him, but he is nothing more than a lying usurper. Aeson wasn't killed. He was usurped by both our father and Pasiphae and forced to flee,".
"But our father …," the sister whined.
Androgeus clasped his sister's shoulders. "I love our father too, Ariadne. But he is not the same man he once was before Mother died. He is not the rightful king, and after the way Pasiphae has treated us, how do you think Jason will be any different? All she wants from him is the gift Poseidon bestowed upon him since he was born. And it's not just that,".
"What do you mean?" the brother named Therus asked.
"Pilius,".
"You mean the same man who's been destroying villages and taking over kingdoms?".
"Yes. He is after Jason as well. He will do anything to get Poseidon's gift inside him, just like our father and stepmother. I stared at my skin, the blue glowing underneath. I touched my heart. Instantly, I heard the sound of guards. I stared back inside. Androgeus was stunned. "I must flee. If the guards catch me, father and Pasiphae will use me to get to Jason,".
"Our father would never harm you," the girl named Ariadne was crying a little.
"He has hurt a lot of people usurping the throne and carrying out the work of his dark master,".
Dark Master? Was he talking about Kronos? Was this king another puppet in the Lord of Titan's scheme? Suddenly, the door burst open, and all at once, I screamed out Androgeus's name, and I felt myself falling backwards into a void of mist and slam!
My back slammed the floor. "Curiosity seems to come naturally to you, Your Highness,".
Poseidon was towering over me. I was scared. He was not pleased I looked into his pearl. He was gonna punish me. But he didn't. All I saw was an offered hand. I slowly took it, and he helped me up.
"I see you have discovered my seeing Pearl,". He looked into his pearl. There was nothing there. "It seems it was drawn to you. I use it to watch over Atlantis,". Now, I was desperate for answers. And he knew I was. "I know you have many questions, but I promised your father when he took you to this world that I would protect you,". I didn't know what to feel. Angry? Upset? Confused? Or ….
Thunder boomed above us. Zeus knew I was still here.
Poseidon sighed. "I know you want more answers Jason, but your father wanted you to be safe more than anything. The truth will only hurt you and endanger your life. But if you truly wish to have more answers, then ask the mother of my daughter. She will tell you everything I allowed her know,". He pulled out two pearls. "Take care of each other. You must be prepared for what's to come. But above anything, trust in yourself,".
I stopped him. "Before you send me back, I wanted to say, 'thank you'. For everything you did. You gave me a home and a family. And you defended me from your brother. I wish there was some way I could repay that,".
The Sea god smiled with deep admiration. "So pure. Just like your father. He would be proud of you if he was here right now,". He dropped the two pearls.
(Phoebe's Point of View)
Jason and Misty appeared before me in the blink of an eye. I had been sitting against Thalia's tree, waiting for them. And now they were here.
"Jason I was so worried," I threw my arms around him.
"I'm alright,". He didn't sound alright.
"What happened?".
"I saw it.
"Saw what?".
"Atlantis. Where I came from. And Androgeus. He was there. He betrayed his father and stepmother to save me,".
I couldn't believe it. I knew I recognised that name somewhere.
"Cilix was alive too. And he and the king and queen of Atlantis were talking about Pilius,".
"My brother." I despised him deeply. "We don't have to talk about it just yet. We should go into the camp and let Chiron know you're safe,". I tried to pull him down the hill but he didn't move. "Jason …,".
"I can't stay here,".
"Nonsense, we've succeeded in our quest and now the camp has to know what we've done, what you've done,". Still, he refused to move. I could see the thousand emotions clouding his mind. "No matter what Zeus or any of the gods have said, you are not to blame for everything that has happened. Like my father said, you're truly one of us now. You'll be safe with us. We take care of each other,". Those were the same words Poseidon had spoken to me. He had made Jason swear that same promise too.
Together with Misty we walked down the hill towards the cabins where we were greeted with claps and cheers. Jason was overwhelmed. All his life, he had wanted to feel finally accepted among demigods and now they were all beginning to see him in new light. Then ahead of us, we saw Annabeth, Grover and Cody running towards with open arms. We were engulfed in a big group hug.
Then, Luke, with a strange smile walked up and embraced Jason, both so relieved to see each other again. We heard hoofprints and Chiron approached us, proud as ever. Releasing tears, Jason threw his arms around him as his dad embraced him.
"I'm so glad you're safe," Chiron didn't care if he was crying in front of everyone.
"I've missed you so much dad,".
"Oh, get a room, you two!" Mr. D complained.
"Well done, daughter of Poseidon," Riya came over and I hugged her too.
"You did a great job taking care of her sister," Phitilis came by her side.
I was shocked. "You're sisters?"
They bobbed heads together. Why didn't I recognise it before? They looked very similar. Almost like twins. "We are mermaids from your father's underwater kingdom," the younger sister answered.
"Perhaps one day you would like the honour of visiting,". Riya offered.
"Someday," I accepted.
"We got word to your father as soon as Riya told us you and Jason were heading to Olympus,".
"And a good thing you did," I smiled gratefully. "Do mermaids reside just in my father's kingdom?".
"No. They roam everywhere in the sea. But we weren't born in your world. We were born in the Mythical world from which Jason comes," Phitilis explained. "Yes, Chiron told us everything Jason told him. Your father has given us firm instructions to scour the seas and look for any signs of portals opening. He has a seeing pearl that allows him to observe the mythical world, but those who enter our world from this one cannot be seen from afar,".
So that's how Jason and his birth father arrived here in this world. They came through a portal under the sea. Then perhaps my father must have found them and blessed Jason at that moment. All the other demi-god kids from the other camp surrounded Jason, praising him with claps and hugs. Then Annabeth gave him another big hug before pulling me into one too.
Chiron approached us. "You have done well Phoebe Jackson. Now everyone, let us perform her teams' ceremony of glory!".
It was sunset. We stood in a podium in the ruins of the arena. Everyone was there. Even the animals and the water dragon: Theremia. All were welcome.
Chiron and Mr. D with his usual grouchy self-addressed the audience. "We have gathered to celebrate Phoebe's Jackson's glory. She completed this quest and stopped this war. Now this is peace in Olympus again. Phoebe, would you step forward and speak up for what you have done?".
In my orange camp top, I stepped forward facing everyone. I felt sick but I swallowed it down. I imagined my father watching over me. "At first, stopping this war wasn't my goal. My goal was to enter the Underworld to save my mum, the only person who has ever cared about me. But then everything I changed. I realised how important it was to keep going, not just for her or for glory as I'm pretty sure most of you would aim for, but for everyone. Because there are more important things in life than glory. And although this was my quest, I do not deserve the glory alone. You see, I had my friends with me," I turned to them on the stage as they stood up, wearing their camp tops too. "Grover," I owed my Protector everything. "Annabeth," She smiled as I acknowledged our devoted friendship. "Cody,". I turned to the front audience where Luke was sitting. "Riya, Tuastos," The bear roared. "Akeda," the wolf howled, followed by a howling chorus of younger kids who petted him. "And Jason. Especially Jason:". The crowd clapped once again for Jason as Annabeth gently pushed him forward; they were proud of him. And so were Chiron and Luke. "They stood by my side through it all. Each of us pledged courage, loyalty and devotion to this mission. Without each of us, the quest would not have succeeded. We achieved glory together because of our teamwork and which makes glory worthwhile!".
My speech earned another round of applause. Even Chiron was impressed. We were crowned with laurel wreaths and adorned with flowers. And a feast was held in our honour. Lyres and harps were played, bringing melody and joy. And for the first time the children of minor gods were allowed to eat with us. Jason was so happy. Even the giant snakes were allowed to come, and they played their flutes, too.
"So, you're not hurt are you?" Max asked.
"Don't worry about me, Max," Jason assured.
"But still being kidnapped like that …." Keto drifted off.
Jason glared at Luke. He shrugged. "What? They had to know?".
"It was quite frightening," he confessed. "But I'm safe now,".
"You guys should have seen what Jason did," Cody said ecstatically. "We were bound by Hades but then boom! Jason just blasted the chains off us. I've never seen anything like it,".
There was no stopping them from knowing more. "Now this we gotta here," Peter begged.
We told them about our adventure in the Underworld, from being chased by Cerebus and Pilius to nearly plunging into the pit and being imprisoned by my uncle. As we talked of Hades, my mind was hammered by thoughts. What if he hadn't kept his side of the bargain? What if my mother ….
"I honestly just want to forget about it all," Jason wished. " At least for tonight. I'm just glad to be home after all this time,".
"Who wants a smoothie?" Naomi offered up smoothies. We shared a toast. I watched Jason chill out with Luke, how happy they were to see each other again. Luke was petrified with fear when he learnt that Jason went to face Zeus with me, but he was so glad I was there for him. I was about to take a sip when the eyes of bully pierced my own.
Admits the crowd was Clarisse, glaring darkly towards us. I was shocked. Before I could react, Annabeth grabbed my hand. "Come with me," she whispered. Me, Jason, Cody, Grover and Luke left and went to the Hermes Hut. They owed us a good explanation.
"Why hasn't Clarisse been apprehended?" Jason demanded. "Who else would help her father steal the Master Bolt and Hades's Helm?".
"It's complicated," Annabeth answered. It was convincing.
"How? How is it complicated?" I nearly raised my voice. I wanted to see Clarisse locked up for the way she bullied me and Jason.
Luke spoke up. "Everyone was ready to start the war. To start fighting each other. And an accusation against Clarisse …"
"Without proof," Cody pointed out.
"Wouldn't have got her confined,". He finished.
"Exactly," Annabeth said. "Without proof, it would have lit this whole place on fire. It would have made things worse,".
Luke still smiled. "But you're back. You guys stopped the war, and now it's safe to tell Chiron and finish clearing up this mess,".
"Well then, let's do that," Jason said, desperate more than ever to see Clarisse behind bars for all the years of bullying she had put him through.
"We'll need to talk to him, but we can't talk without any of Clarisse's supporters noticing. And that's not the only thing we need to talk about. Chiron wants to know everything that happened in Louisiana and Las Vegas,".
"You guys head to the clearing," I said. "The rest of us will keep an eye on Clarisse, make sure she's not going anywhere,".
"Good call, friend," Luke complimented.
"I'll guard the tree," Grover said.
"I'll patrol the woods with Tuastos and Akeda," Cody voted.
"Then let's do this." Luke led Jason out of the hut, and the rest of us went to cover more ground.
And that's the next chapter done. Once again, I take no credit for Percy Jackson, Atlantis or anything else that doesn't belong to me. Only my OCs. Hope you all enjoyed it. Get ready for the final two chapters coming up.
