"Did you get all of them?"
"Every last one."
"Even the one way up on the wall?"
"Yeah. Getting it down was the easy part. Had to go track down a janitor to get it back up again. He wasn't too impressed with me. Apparently, it's against some health and safety code for me to use a broom handle to retrieve the clock. He said he has to use a very specific hook thing."
"Janitors can be oddly territorial too."
"Anyway, I got it done."
"You mean, the janitor got it done."
"Same thing."
"Okay, good. That's good. I got his phone and computer."
"I did everyone else's computers."
"Oh, good one. Did you get his watch?"
"No, I thought you were doing that?"
"Why would I do that? You're the one who's basically a ninja!"
What was the appropriate response to that? Should she be pleased that he was complimenting her or view it as teasing? Morgan meant it both ways, there was nothing better he liked to do than tease and give a compliment at the same time and wait and see how you responded. Actually, there wasn't time for a proper response. They had to get this done quickly.
"Technically, I was a spy, not a ninja."
"Which means you absolutely should be able to get the watch on his wrist."
She walked right into that one, didn't she? It didn't stop her from giving him a disgruntled look as well as the finger as she walked over, making him laugh which meant she had to send him * another* dirty look because if he made too much noise this was all going to be over!
Stopping just short of Reid, Emily tried to think of the best way to go about doing this. She would have to be smooth and fast. Any hesitation and the plan would all fall apart, and all of their work so far would have been for nothing.
What way was he even lying on his desk? Where were his wrists? Couldn't he stretch across his desk like a normal person? That would have made her job a lot easier.
A snort came from his as his eyes fluttered. She held her breath and froze in place in an effort not to wake him up. Why did she even do that? It wasn't like she was making noise in the first place, but whatever. It made her feel more like she was in control.
Except she wasn't in control over the fact if Reid woke up or not. He made a gentle sort of snorting noise and turned his head to the other side, away from her. Which wasn't the important thing. The important thing was that his arm slipped out from under him and hung off his desk. It was like he was trying to help her. This was perfect.
Emily was just thankful that Reid, knowing himself and his ability to inexplicably break small, fragile things when he fiddled with them, got himself a watch that had a big dial on the side to change the time. It made sneaking over to him and changing the time very easy, ot turned out. Not that she was going to complain. It was literally a flick and a twist of the wrist, and she was done. Now, did the time exactly match the other clocks? No, it did not, but it was within five minutes of them all, so she was counting it. Watches could fall out of sync of the actual time, couldn't they? That's why you had to wind them up. Ha. Wind them up. That's what they were doing to Reid. Brilliant bit of word play there, she would have to use that later.
"Done!" She said triumphantly as she went back over to Morgan, who had now been joined by JJ who was giving them a mildly disapproving look.
"Have you not tortured him enough?" JJ asked in exasperation.
"No," the both replied instantly with no hesitation.
She rolled her eyes at them and made a tutting noise but didn't stop them. As if she could. Actually, she probably could but Emily appreciated that she didn't. She swore JJ like the results of their pranks just as much as they did.
"Shh! He's waking up," said Morgan.
They all watched in anticipation as Reid blinked and stretched and rubbed the drool from his face and then at his eyes. He blinked around uncomprehendingly until his gaze settled on a clock. And he froze. He inked and rubbed at his eyes. And then again. And again. He checked his own watch and then frantically shook his mouse to check the time on his computer. Then the clock on the other end of the room.
"Ten to three?" He said to himself worriedly. "Ten to three?"
The phone was taken out and his eyes widened even more when kt showed the same time. He even held it closer and squinted at it like it would tell him it was lying. Another look at the clock across from him to confirm it hadn't changed.
"Ten to three?"
Reid rummaged in his pocket, did he forget he had already checked his phone?
"Ah, ha!" He mumbled.
Emily and Morgan's mouths dropped. A pocketwatch. Reid actually had a pocketwatch. In his pocket. A watch in his pocket. With a chain on it and everything.
"We haven't gone back in time. It's half eight!" He said triumphantly.
"Seriously, you would think you went back in time rather than you slept for eighteen hours." Morgan asked incredulously.
"Yes. But I haven't done either of those things. *You* changed all the clocks!"
"Only to be bested by a freaking pocketwatch," Morgan grumbled. "Seriously, since when have you had one of those?"
"I always have."
"Right."
"You knew about the pocketwatch, didn't you?" Emily accused JJ.
"Yep," she said smugly.
Dammit, she should have known JJ would be on Reid's side.
"Seriously, the hat wasn't enough so now you do this with all the clocks just to mess with me?" Reid asked in exasperation.
"The hat was hardly messing with you, it was just a hat. This was a far more delicate operation."
Reid just sighed heavily and started fiddling with his wristwatch.
"Why me?"
