The Frontlines of the Rhine

Fuse

Now, I'm of the opinion that it's best for the United States if every country in Europe absolutely fucked itself and blew itself up. That being said, I loathe the Germans, and would hate to help them even temporarily.

So, I'm just going to cause a stalemate. Completely destroy a bunch of French and German soldiers at the same time with the help of my Pokemon.

Landing in the middle of a disgusting French trench, I raised a singular hand-

Then, I realized, there are Americans in this world, aren't there?

I should make sure I don't make any of them sob.

Spell Created.

[American Observation - Highlights people who are related to Americans in some way. American Citizens are highlighted in red, white, and blue. People who are related to Americans through other family or marriage are highlighted in white. People who are related to Americans through friendships are highlighted in red. People who have plans to become an American are highlighted in blue.]

Activating my new spell, most people aren't highlighted, but there are a few red and blues here and there.

So, I made another spell to ensure that they won't die in my rampage.

Spell Created.

[Protected Soul - Lays your protection on targeted souls. They cannot be harmed by your powers.]

Applying that spell to all of the American-related Frenchmen in the area I plan to decimate, I send out my three Pokemon.

I told California, Texas, and New York, "Go to the German trench and start killing everyone. I'll handle things here."

The three Pokemon all eagerly did their equivalents of cheering as they sped towards their destinations, ready to do violence.

Those words made the French soldiers relax, making them think I was on their side.

They are wrong.

Now, is my Control Rank high enough to just let me gain Earth Manipulation as a spell?

Spell Created.

[Earth Manipulation - Control the existing earth around you however you please. The more material you lift, the more mana you expend.]

Great!

One of the soldiers walked over a puddle of mud water in their filthy trench, asking me, "Excuse me, sir. You're on our side, yes? Who are you?"

My reply was to close the walls of the trench on them, burying them in the mud, suffocating them.

As they were all dying slow and painful deaths, I could see Texas breathing fire into the trenchs and thunder emanating. I couldn't see New York doing anything, but that was to be expected.

Double checking to ensure that all of the American-related Frenchmen were spared, which they were, I continue to walk down the trench, who began to open fire on me.

Skill Created.

[Bullet Deflection - Allows you to move fast enough to deflect bullets with your blade. Costs a small amount of stamina.]

Pulling out Eisenhower, just one of my swords, I began to deflect all of the bullets coming my way. Some of the bullets reflected back onto the soldiers while others simply harmlessly landed on the ground.

I was reminded at the last moment about my armament haki, so I tried using it. It coated itself onto my sword, and it felt somewhat more powerful. Definitely needed training.

I slowly walked towards them, causing some of them to break out in fear and run away. So, my natural reply was to use my free hand to start using bang.

As everyone who attempted to flee got shot by invisible bullets, I reached the few who had the courage to not run.

I cut them in half. That was their reward.

Walking past the whimpering soldier on the ground who had American friends, I dropped a singular mora on them, hoping the gold would pay for their trip back.

As the number of soldiers in the area began to close in on zero, I sealed the trench using Earth manipulation, only leaving small holes for the few Frenchmen who had gained my mercy.

Looking over to the German side, it seems like my Pokemon were handling it all over there too.

So, it's about time to move locations and repeat this elsewhere.

Standing over the graves of thousands of soldiers, I looked at the slight increase in my stats that massacre gave me. It was mostly just everything getting a plus to it or a minus taken away.

Well, at least my soul collection is all filled up. They're all the weakest rank, though. Not unexpected of humans. But as long as I throw at least a hundred into each and every spell, it should be fine. Not to mention my destructive perk.

With that settled, I think about where to go next.

Tanya is the main character of the world, right? I'll probably just kill her just to throw a wrench in whatever plans Colette had for her.

Well, considering they're on the opposite sides, maybe the plan was always to just kill her. But what if she gets something for killing her? That's not going to slide.

So, as long as I kill her first, it should be fine.

Now, I may not know where she is, but if I find a random German higher up, they should vaguely know where one of their mages are.

With that in mind, I move towards the German side-

Suddenly, my body feels stiff, locked up.

As though people are trying to stop me.

There's no one in the area who could even do something like this, so I try to figure out what stupid thing is stopping me this time-

Ah, right.

I have curses on me.

[Imbalanced Soul - Your soul is incapable of carrying others. Souls in your inventory have a chance to affect your actions against your will. The higher the number of souls in your inventory, the more likely this will happen. To get rid of this curse, you must cut all of your ties to the land of the living. All of them.]

Quite frankly, this has not affected me a single time until now. That's real inconvenient of it to do.

Not to mention, the requirement for getting rid of the curse seems pretty steep and I don't feel like doing it.

With that in mind, I do my best to create a workaround.

Spell Created.

[Suppress Souls - When you use this spell, all souls around you will weaken in power, suppressing their ability to act. If this goes on for too long, it may lead to the permanent weakening or even destruction of those souls.]

It helps a little bit. Eventually, all of my souls get back in line, letting me move properly again without the need to forcibly suppress them.

So, lessons learned. Don't carry around thousands of souls.

If I really need a bunch of souls, I'm just going to go to Garbanag's Terraria world and start killing everything there. The lunar pillars are still there, if I recall correctly. That's definitely like, A-rank souls.

With that minor hiccup fixed, I start actually going into the territory of The Empire.

Guh, what a dumb name. I'm just going to keep calling it Germany.

A city in The Empire

Brandon Stewart

"You want me to do what?"

For decades, Brandon Stewart has been undercover in the Empire, under the order of the Unified States of America. Every opinion of the average citizen in the Empire was transmitted directly to Philadelphia in order to let the brave men at the Central Intelligence Agency pull the strings to ensure that everything was going to plan.

Now, they want him to risk his undercover disguise in order to seek out someone specific who may or may not even be inside of his city?

"Look, it's dangerous, I know," The unnamed contact acknowledged, Brandon's headache increasing, "But this American might be a once in a millennia asset to the USA."

According to what his contact has told him, someone has appeared on the western front. That person has been decimating both Francois and Empire troops with some mystical magic no one has ever seen or heard of, and planting some odd depiction of the American flag wherever he brings death.

Fortunately, it isn't actually the American flag, but apparently the two nations are still upset at America.

But now, they want them to draw more suspicion by actively making contact with the man identified as Fuse?

Brandon brought up the obvious risk, "This seems a bit dangerous, sir."

"For the longevity of the Unified States, we must try anyways," His superior said, "Now, our current reports suggest that he is near your location. May God be with you."

With that, his superior hangs up, not letting Brandon get a word in.

Sighing, Brandon forlornly sighed, "We? Who's we? I'm the one in danger, you idiots…"

Well, it wasn't likely that this Fuse man would show up here anyways…

Walking outside of the building he had to take the call in, he immediately sees Fuse holding the neck of a Germanian officer.

Pardon his language, but what the fuck.

A city in The Empire

Fuse

So, I learnt through excessive force that the ace mage known as Tanya is currently in Legadonia, leading her own division of mages against this world's version of the Scandinavians.

Definitely World War 2. Definitely Nazis.

So, I had no issue with killing the soldiers around me. I should probably make a detour to Berlin and start shooting up the place there as well, but I can do that later.

My actions were pretty blatant since I just hopped into a big looking city and asked for the highest ranked officer there. I couldn't get his name through Observe, so I assumed it was some background fodder. But he gave me all I needed.

Dropping his body on the floor, I unfurled my wings, ready to fly up into the sky once more-

"Wait! Mr. Fuse!"

That was an American.

Dropping my plans to leave so early, I turned to the first actual American man I've met since starting my journey. Sure, it was a Unified American and not an United American, but they should be the same thing.

He was a pretty macho guy, big muscles, in a suit, you know, looking very German. But I could instantly tell that this was a guy who was still at heart an American. His accent is slightly German, but that was probably because he's been in Hell for so long.

Don't worry, my man, I'll save you.

"What do you need, man?" I casually waved to the guy, "My name's Fuse, you?"

He blinked, obviously not expecting it to be that easy, "Uh, Brandon. Look, I'm… Can we talk about this somewhere more private?"

I picked him up in a princess carry without asking, "Not even a problem dude. We can talk in the air, unless you need to stay in this city?"

"I-" Brandon seemed to want to protest, but he then looked down, "Ugh, I guess my cover is blown now. I would appreciate it if you could drop me off in Albion if you can fly that far."

Albion…

I didn't grab a map, but I think I can find my way to the British isles anyhow. It's not a crazy detour from where I was going. I was going to fly across the sea anyway.

"Sure, I can do that," I said, heading in the rough direction where Britain was, "So, what did you need from me?"

Brandon got himself more comfortable in my grip as he answered, "I'm an undercover spy for the Unified States. My duties were to just mostly keep an eye on public sentiment, so I've been here for decades without having to relocate. Anyhow, my superiors contacted me, ordering me to get in contact with you so we can talk."

I hummed. That made sense. The America of this world probably didn't want to be seen as the guy killing both sides of the conflict by sending me.

"Alright, so what do you need me to do?" I asked.

Brandon scratched his head, "Mostly to just stop killing people. We'd like it if you stopped displaying that odd flag at the site of your victories, but it's too late for that and would be more suspicious if you stopped. We don't wish to interfere in a Europan war."

Hm, so the current government is isolationist… That's a shame.

It's 1925, so there won't be an election until 1928, I think. No chance of being able to drag this out for long enough to get an interventionist into office.

Shame.

Well, all isolationists are so until they get punched in the face. Japan made sure of that in my world, it'll probably be similar here.

Though…

"Well, sure, I guess I can stop making it so obvious," I conceded, not wanting to disrupt any plans brewing up in Washington, "That being said, how about I bring the Empire to heel for you? Make them subservient and all that."

It seemed pretty simple. Kill the high command, force France to involve the US in the peace negotiation, then threaten everyone to give the US the best deal it can give.

Alternatively, threaten the German high command into just asking to be a vassal state of the Unified States. Then pump a million US troops into the country, maybe I can do something to ensure it with my abilities.

Brandon didn't seem so convinced, "That… Seems unlikely."

I didn't take it too harshly, shrugging, "Eh, I'll see what I can do. I can just contact the American embassy in whatever nation I end up in, right?"

"...I believe so?" Brandon didn't seem so sure, "You are an international criminal, but you… Are an American, right?"

"Oh, yeah," I contemplated on telling them I'm from a different America or not, but I decided not to. It makes things too complicated.

But if they do ask, it's not like I'm going to deny it.

With that, the important parts of the conversation concluded and we were well on our way to Albion.

Legadonia

Tanya Von Degurechaff

Flying above the Legadonian base, Tanya von Degurechaff was observing the movements within the mountain to locate any weaknesses in their defenses, but…

Ugh, the entire Legadonian base was basically awake. So much for a surprise night attack.

Tanya had been leading the 203rd Air Mage Division in Legadonia for the past week through Legadonia, surgically targeting key military targets to ensure that the actual army heading into the nation would have an easier time taking down their enemies.

Tonight, they were taking out a heavily fortified mountain base overlooking a valley that troops would have to pass through in order to get to the capital city.

But obviously, it was unlikely that was going to happen now.

"Ma'am…" Her adjutant, Viktoriya, quietly pointed out the obvious.

"Yeah, attacking this is a death trap," Tanya declared, gaining the thankful signs of relief from her soldiers.

She was bold, not stupid. Even she would have problems taking down such a base…

"Really? This seems pretty easy to take down to me."

Eyes widening at the sudden new presence behind her, she quickly turns around to aim her gun at the intruder.

Some kind of masked man wearing some odd clothing that someone with no vocabulary for clothing could describe.

Though, it seemed oddly American themed. Not to mention too lightly dressed for the cold landscape of Legadonia.

"Who are you?!" Tanya demanded, her entire squad's rifles pointed on the relaxed man.

"Fuse," He casually said, "So, what's a Nazi crew like yours doing in Scandinavia?"

Nazi? Scandinavia? But that's…

"Wait, are you from another world?" Tanya blurted out before she could stop herself.

Her squadron was surprised that it was even a question that the ever pragmatic Tanya von Degurechaff could ask, but their opinions were irrelevant at this current moment.

If it was true, that Being X summoned someone else…

It seemed to even surprise Fuse, "Oh? You're an isekai protagonist… Well, that makes this even worse, then."

About… Wait, why does he think she's a Nazi?

"Nazi? Have you even checked the leader of The Empire? It's the Kaiser!" Tanya annoyedly lectured, seemingly causing a lightbulb to turn on in his head?

Fuse put a finger on his chin, "Seriously? Well, that's on me. I guess it's a world war 2 environment with world war 1 characteristics… Hm, I guess you can't be Nazis then."

With that misunderstanding cleared up, Tanya then told him, "Okay, this is an inconvenient place for us to be talking, though. I'd like for us to be in that base over there so I could simply get my subordinates duties elsewhere so we could talk in a private room."

Fuse hummed, "Ah, I get it. You don't want all of your secrets revealed, then. In that case, how about we make a deal?"

Tanya raised an eyebrow, not fully trusting Fuse, "What kind of deal?"

While she was fairly certain of Fuse's origin from her Earth, she had no idea why or how he was here. He obviously knew her, but thought she was a Nazi. How was that misunderstanding created? The most obvious reason for an American to hate a German was for someone to tell them that they were Nazis.

So if Being X summoned Fuse into this world to give Tanya an enemy…

That so-called "God" was a piece of shit. Even worse than that, since shit at least provides something to the soil.

Fuse simply elaborated on his deal, "Well, if I help you do whatever it is you need to do in Legadonia, you help me with-"

He realized something, "Oh! Before I forget, what's your opinion about America?"

…About America?

It was at that moment, Tanya realized that this apparently ultra-strong person was an fervent American nationalist.

Yeah, she had no issue with lying to someone like that. What kind of idiot is actually nationalistic?

"It's a great country. I was originally… From somewhere else, but even I think that the US was greater than my own," She praised, knowing full well that Fuse was going to like it.

And she was right.

Fuse practically beamed, "Great! That's good to hear. With a heart like that, I don't even need to make a deal since we share the same objectives. You wanted that base, right? Do you need it intact or destroyed?"

Tanya blinked at the sudden change in conversation, but rolled with it nonetheless, "Uh, destroyed. We don't want the Legadonians using it."

He nodded in understanding, "Alright, stand back for a bit. I need to get rid of a few souls…"

What did he mean by that?

He flew slightly down (He had wings. How did she miss that? Is she stupid?) and began to aim his hands.

Then, he apologized, "Sorry, by stand back, I mean could you maybe fly way back? This attack feels pretty massive."

Tanya didn't even question it as she flew half a mile away, her squadron following.

As they were retreating back, Viktoriya asked her, "Are you sure we can trust Fuse? And what was that talk about being from another world about?"

"We'll see, and it's complicated," Tanya curtly answered her adjutant before turning back to see Fuse aim his hands like a bow.

Then, white flames erupted from his hands, taking the form of an arrowhead double the size of his body.

With that, it practically confirmed one thing to her.

Fuse unleashed his attack, the arrow flying into the Legadonian base.

In the next moment, a flame that reached the clouds engulfed what felt like the entire mountain, yet there was no heat to the attack.

It was as though those flames weren't actually flames and were something else.

"New Orders," Tanya announced to her entire squadron, half of whom were only somewhat paying attention, too shocked by the size of Fuse's attack, "I don't want to hear a single negative word, nay, a thought about America for the rest of your lives. Put down the Empire if you have to. We cannot have him as an enemy."

Nobody replied, but everyone agreed.

The noise of the attack died down to the point where Tanya heard Fuse asking, "Who the hell began worshiping me like a God?"

Suddenly, her quest for a peaceful life looked to be so much easier, yet all the more harder.

At the very least, the war didn't seem like it'll take long now.

AN:

This chapter is 3.4k words, mostly because I actually wrote out the parts I was gonna skip over cause I told someone that the chapter would be a bit longer than usual, but I started writing it at 11 PM before Saturday.

That has no effect on this chapter being finished at 4:14 AM. That was just because I couldn't focus on writing for a while.

Depending on how quirky I'm feeling with writing the outline for the next chapter, which I'll do before going to bed, there's a non-zero percent chance that Fuse is going to pull up on Being X next chapter just to see if he can.
