Note: I do not own Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex or Jormungand; all rights belong to their respective creators.

This was my first fanfiction, so I decided to renew it and publish it on another account as it deserves. This version has been revised, as the original had several spelling errors. I have also included some additions, such as translations into other languages.

For now, I have no plans to continue this story. However, I am considering publishing more stories on this account, so stay tuned.

Even so, I look forward to your comments to keep improving.

Japan: Year 2032 (Universe 2156).

Section 9 was in the middle of a high-risk operation. The mission was clear: search and capture. Leading the team was a young woman with dark purple, almost black hair, and violet eyes that reflected unwavering determination. Her uniform consisted of a tight-fitting black combat suit, perfectly complemented by a short-sleeved jacket of the same color draped over her torso. A belt loaded with tools, military-grade boots, and gloves completed her outfit, making her look like a shadow ready to vanish into the walls of the building.

"Major, we've confirmed that the target is still inside the building". Said Togusa's voice, coming through the communication network with clarity and precision.

The young woman, known as the Major, nodded silently, her eyes gleaming with an intensity that reflected the urgency of the situation. With an agile and precise movement, she leaped from the edge of the rooftop, landing effortlessly on the ground. She didn't need to give any further instructions—her team was always up to the task.

Outside, near the complex, the assault team members had gathered in silence, awaiting the order. Pazu, Togusa, Batou, and Saito—who was already in position as a sniper in a nearby building—remained vigilant. The team knew exactly what to do. The Major had spoken, and that was all they needed.

Batou, the second-in-command, raised his hand, signaling that it was time to move in. Their movements were almost choreographed, each team member knowing exactly what to do and when to do it.

"What about the Major?" Togusa asked in a low voice, frowning as he glanced toward the building. His doubt was natural, but the situation demanded urgency.

"Knowing her, she's already inside. That's why we need to hurry". Batou replied in his deep voice, his gaze fixed on the building as a grin formed on his face. "Let's go, guys. We better not keep her waiting."

While the team infiltrated through the main entrance, the Major had already moved ahead. Along the way, she encountered five heavily armed mercenaries. Without hesitation, she pulled out her MP-5N and began firing with deadly precision. Each bullet found its target within milliseconds. The sound of gunfire echoed through the hallways, but the Major didn't stop until she saw the last enemies fall, one by one. The perfect synchronization between her mind and her weapon was a testament to years of training.

Once the area was clear, the Major crouched down and activated the radio frequency she had previously set up. With a firm voice, she requested the latest intel.

"Ishikawa, what have you found on the target?" she asked as she prepared to move forward.

The response came quickly from the other end: "The intelligence network data is clear. The target is Professor Fujiwara Isao. A world-renowned scientist. He was a pioneer in multiple fields and holds several doctorates. His reputation in the scientific community is impressive."

The Major nodded, processing the information swiftly. She knew this mission was more than just a simple arrest. Professor Fujiwara Isao was no ordinary target.

"Still, how does a man of his stature end up becoming a terrorist?" she wondered aloud, walking through the building's hallways with her camouflage freshly activated.

"According to statements from his colleagues and family, the Professor had immersed himself in his research on dimensional theories, to the point of obsession. After multiple rejections of his proposals for increased funding, as well as the disapproval of his peers toward his ideas, his frustration grew. It seems he saw no other way but to seek a different means to achieve his goal. It is believed that this was the reason he ultimately joined the terrorist group AFCG, which, I assume, you're already familiar with". Ishikawa concluded.

"Mmm… I see". The Major replied, thoughtful as she analyzed the situation more carefully.

"What's wrong?" Ishikawa asked, curious.

"I think I've figured out the real reason we were assigned this mission so suddenly". The Major said.

"And that would be?" Ishikawa asked again.

"As you already know, one of the state's special forces' most recent achievements over the past few months has been eliminating and capturing most of the AFCG leaders. Now that they've taken down the big fish, they're sending us to clean up any remaining members who might tarnish their so-called victory over the organization—just so they can take all the credit for dismantling a terrorist cell. But it can't be helped… Sometimes it feels like we're just working to benefit the politicians". The Major said with a sarcastic tone.

Ishikawa let out a small chuckle at her comment. "Nothing less was expected—most politicians only care about their own interests". He replied.

"That's exactly why I'm glad we have the Chief. He can handle that kind of business". The Major added, a hint of relief in her voice.

"For now, focus on accessing the building's operating system with Borma, and keep Batou and the others updated on my location. I'm moving ahead". She ordered.

"Understood," Ishikawa responded before ending the transmission.

Meanwhile, the Major moved through the facility, leaving behind only the lifeless bodies of her enemies. She reached the third floor, where she spotted two armed guards standing in front of a door at the end of the hallway. Their bodies, like many others, seemed to be enhanced with prosthetic augmentations.

She advanced quickly, taking cover behind the nearest wall, and reactivated her thermoptic camouflage, rendering her nearly invisible. Taking position, she readied herself and launched into action. She raised her weapon and fired a precise shot straight into the head of the guard on the right.

The other guard reacted instantly. Furious, he started shooting wildly in all directions.

The purple-haired woman dodged the bullets with agile movements and, without wasting a second, fired back, hitting the man's left knee with precision. He collapsed to the ground, writhing in pain. The Major seized the opportunity, rushed toward him, and delivered a powerful kick that completely knocked him down. However, the mercenary showed no signs of surrendering and attempted to reach for his weapon. Anticipating his movements, the Major fired again—this time, a direct shot to the head—ending him instantly.

The Major then turned toward the door the guards had been protecting, only to discover that it was secured with an advanced system—an electronic lock with encrypted codes. Without hesitation, she pulled a cable from the back of her neck and connected it. The lock instantly gave way and unlocked.

"Looks like I found the place where the target might be". The Major reported to her team over the comms.

"Batou, I'm sending you my coordinates, but for now, I'll proceed on my own". She added with determination.

"Understood, but be careful. We'll follow as soon as we secure the area". Batou responded confidently.

The Major acknowledged with a brief sound before preparing to enter the room.

Without lowering her guard, she pressed the open button on the panel and moved forward cautiously, weapon raised. Her sharp eyes scanned every corner, analyzing her surroundings. The room turned out to be a laboratory filled with sophisticated equipment—typical of a high-tech facility. But what truly caught her attention was a massive computer at the center of the room, dominating the space.

With no sign of the professor or anyone else, the purple-haired woman decided to act quickly. She once again pulled the cable from the base of her neck and connected it to the system without hesitation. As she accessed the data, she found numerous reports related to dimensional research. Among them, a file titled Project ORION stood out prominently. Without a second thought, she downloaded all the information linked to the project, convinced it could be key to understanding the professor's plans and uncovering what was really happening in this facility.

The moment the download was complete, the monitor's screen turned completely white. Then, she noticed a machine on the wall beginning to emit a bright, pulsating red light, illuminating the room ominously. Acting swiftly, the Major disconnected the cable from the computer and moved directly toward the source of the flashing lights, prepared for anything.

Upon reaching it, she saw that the machine had stopped emitting the red light. Instead, a compartment had suddenly opened, revealing its contents. Inside was a metallic case, housing a glowing blue energy sphere at its core. The sphere radiated an intense light that seemed to breathe life into the entire machine.

The power source was protected by a small glass case that fit perfectly around the enigmatic device, emphasizing its complexity and mystery.

"It seems to be some kind of machine… but what is it for?" The Major murmured, a hint of doubt in her expression as she held the artifact.

She examined it closely from every angle, searching for answers. As she did, she noticed a connector on one side of the case—one that appeared to be compatible with the cable embedded at the base of her neck.

Could it be a data storage device? the purple-haired woman wondered as she once again pulled the cable from her nape. At first, she hesitated. The situation felt far too suspicious. But the possibility that the box contained information about the professor's whereabouts—or something just as crucial—drove her to take the risk.

Finally, she decided to connect the cable to the device. However, the system didn't appear to contain any accessible data or information. Just as she was about to disconnect, the machine emitted an intense blue flash, completely blinding her.

For several moments of forced darkness, her mind was invaded by a robotic voice that echoed with chilling clarity:

"Project ORION activated."

The blue light reached its peak, flooding the room in a blinding radiance that consumed everything in its path. For an instant, time itself seemed to freeze. Then, as if it had never been there, the light began to fade, leaving behind only an overwhelming silence.

When the room finally returned to its usual darkness, all that remained was a scorched mark on the floor.

The Major and the strange artifact had vanished without a trace.
