Ruby Rose
"Legends. Heroes rise and fall. When their story was written, some can end in tragedies. They scattered in the evolution of defenders called Huntsmen. From one generation to another, our bodies were embodied by dusts. Each of the dust were used for a variety of usage in the elements. Against the creatures of Grimm, soulless critters that can feed on the negative energy. As they are the darkness, and huntsmen were the light. For centuries the light still flickers as hope has yet to be lit. But be warned guardians, for whatever shines brought can burn out the next."
"Perhaps you were wrong about one thing. Victory may not last forever, but it doesn't mean that fear will not be overcome. But time will only tell otherwise."
Ruby Rose is at her house where her older half-sister, Yang Xiao Long, was packing for her departure in Beacon Academy after graduating from Signal Academy Combat School. Ruby had wanted to go to Beacon too, but she has two years to go before enrollment.
"I can't believe you're going to Beacon tomorrow. Wish I could come to take a look." Ruby said in a cheerful tone of her voice, beamed to imagine her life once she gets to Beacon. Being a huntress was all she had dreamed of as a young girl.
"Ruby, you still got two years ahead. You still got the time in the world." Yang giggled to see the cuteness of her sister's expression.
"I know it's just that...It won't be by the time you leave the next day." Ruby sighs as she felt like that will either be boring or empty without Yang. Zwei, a dark-grey corgi jumped on Ruby's bed, tapping for some cuddles. Ruby pets his head in response.
"Zwei will pretty much miss you too." Said Ruby as she gives her dog a peanut butter spoon. Zewi locks it in joy.
"You know, Rubes. You still haven't gotten used to hand-to-hand combat lessons yet. There's still allot to go." Yang said, the last time she tried to teach Ruby combat without the need of a weapon, her little sister panicked.
"Aw, Yang. You know I was only used to using a scythe that Uncle Qrow taught me." Ruby groaned. Yang laughed a little. "I know, Ruby. But that's the thing. There are times a weapon gets lost and you can't defend yourself without it. The thing is, there are other ways to survive against the Grimm.
Ruby looked at the picture of herself as a toddler, held by her mother, Summer Rose, Raven hair and silver eyes. Just like Ruby. No one knows what happened to her the day she disappeared. This is the only picture she has.
"Yang?"
"Yeah?"
"So you think Mom might be coming back? Maybe anytime?" Yang doesn't have the answer. She wished she knows where their mother is, but none of it was happening. Ruby looked at the picture since she was little. Waiting for years for their mother to return.
"To be honest. I don't know." Yang said somberly. "Would be nice if Mom comes back."
Ruby then went to the kitchen with her speed, and takes out a batch of cookies from the oven after checking the texture. Hard and crunchy. Ruby then placed them on a cooling rack. Then comes to the closet to grab a box to put the cookies back inside.
Ruby sped back to hers and Yang's room with the box and gives them to Yang. "Here. I used Mom's recipe to make the cookies we used to eat together. Eat as much as you want for when you get to Beacon, or share with your friends." Said Ruby.
Yang thoughtfully took the box from Ruby. Having her sister around, Ruby is the light in Yang's eyes. Still, it worries her that she has to be away for a while untile Summer break.
"I know I don't want to have the bad case of the munchies. But what the heck? I don't want to forget the taste of Mom's cookies either. Thanks, Ruby." Yang said to her sister.
"Girls?! Dinner is ready!" Said their father, Taiyang. A huntsmen and a teacher at their combat school, Signal Academy.
-Argus-
Weiss Schnee, heiress of a dust engineer and mining industry, Schnee Dust Company, or SDC for short. Arrived at the port of Argus, a costal town where it leads to Mistral. Her next stop to catch the next flight to Vale, where she will be attending Beacon Academy.
It was very sunny out, compared to her kingdom and home where it was always darkened in the sky and filled with snow and ice. Weiss is at awe for the beauty of the town. The shining sun.
"All this sunlight is just nice. Now to head for my next flight and it's off to Beacon." Weiss said to herself. Little did she know that she will bump into someone. And the other person wasn't looking either.
Her suitcase popped opened as vials of elemental dusts fell out. "Hey, what's the big deal?!"
"I'm sorry, I didn't see you there." Weiss shook her head and looked at the individual that bumped into her. He has a red jacket, sky-blue hair, and dark blue eyes that looked like the night sky. And yellow goggles over his head. He reached his hand for her to help her up.
For some reason, Weiss feels mesmerized by his eyes. Her hand, for some reason is reaching for his against her own will. But Weiss immediately snatched it away from him. "I can get up myself, thank you!" Weiss retorted.
"I was just trying to help." The boy replied.
"I am not allowing myself any distractions. Can't you see you almost mixed up the dusts on the floor!" Weiss scoffed. The boy then looks at the vials and none of them cracked, thankfully.
"The stuff isn't broken yet. Just let me help you pick those up." The teenage boy replied. Helping picking up the dusts that fell from the case and placed them back in the suitcase and hands them to Weiss.
"It's funny, I never seen you before." Said the boy. "Is there anywhere you need to go?"
"Yes, I'm heading to Beacon Academy. Where I will train to become a huntress.
"Really? I'm heading to Haven Academy. Since we're heading to Mistral Station, I'm just looking around here, in my old hometown, good memories. Mind if I walk you there?"
No boy has ever asked her this. Usually, she was used to being alone and going anywhere alone. Cause then her father would criticize her for asking for help. She rather be alone than be be criticized.
"No, I'm fine alone." Weiss retorted. "Why would you ask me that?"
"Because, I don't think it will feel right to let you go alone. Word is, there are some crooks running around even if the place looks safe." Weiss knew he was right. There had been reports of White Fang Activity around the continent of Anima.
"Fine. You may accompany me. But this is where we will part ways after." Weiss said, bluntly. The mysterious boy nods. "Just ask me anything, Snow Angel." Said the boy as he smiled and winked. Weiss blushed at that nickname she was just given. She cannot figure why she was feeling flustered at this. But sighs to try to cool off as she and the boy went to Argus station.
Meanwhile, a boy with blonde hair saw the conversation. And sighs. "If only I were cool and confident like Dad would tell me to be." The boy, Jaune Arc laments. He takes out his scroll and checks out fake transcripts. He is going to go based on a lie.
On the one hand, he hates to lie to his family about going to Beacon, which part of it is true. But another part was the lie on the transcripts. He is staying with his older sister, Saphron, for the week before transitioning to Beacon.
Back in his sister's apartment, Jaune sighs, leaning against the door. And slides down on the floor. "What am I gonna do?"
"Jaune?! You're back already?! Dinner's ready!" Jaune reluctantly went to the dining room to eat. He is having stew for dinner with lava chocolate cheesecake for dessert. For some reason, even if the food is delicious, Jaune felt sick for a reason.
"You okay, Jaune? You haven't touch the food like you used to." Asked Saphron.
"Sorry, Saphron. I am just nervous, but at the same time, I'm excited." Jaune lied putting a fake smile while also slowly taking a sip of a stew. Saphron decides not to push things too much. "If you're worried about the legacy of huntsman, it should be you who decides on what you wanted to be. Not because of our family name." Saphron said.
"I guess you're right. But I want to go, so that Mom and Dad didn't have to worry about me. I'll get more experience when I get to Beacon." He wasn't sure if he can tell his sister the truth about the fake transcripts. But wasn't sure yet. Saphron can tell on his pale face, and it got her even more worried.
She walked up to him and pats her hand on his shoulder. "Hey, it will be alright. Remember, even if an Arc can't go back on his word. There are times compromises have to be made, but it doesn't mean we will not have regrets." Saphron advised.
After Saphron dropped her younger brother off the station, they hugged. Jaune will miss his sister very much, since the two are often close. "I'll cheer for you, baby brother!"
"Saph, I'm not a baby!" Jaune was taken aback. "But I will miss you too." He adds. Giving her one last glance before departing in the train.
"We are now heading to Mistral Station! I repeat, we are heading to Mistral Station!"
Just as Jaune was about to walk inside a train, facing his sister once last time, he unknowingly bumped into a girl, with red hair and gold trim armory and tiara, spear and shield. "Oof!" She yelped, like Jaune, she didn't watch where she is going as the two fell on the floor.
Jaune shook his head. "I'm sorry!" Said the girl. Jaune looked into the girl's eyes, green like the neon leaves. Genuine and kind, she held her hand down for her to help him up. "No, no, it's okay. I'm fine. No worries. It's my fault, I didn't watch where I was going." Jaune said.
Dusting off his clothes, Smiling as if nothing had happened. Then Jaune sees a shield that she holds on the floor and picks it up and gives it back to her. The girl blushed as she takes it from him. "Thank you." Said the girl.
"So you're heading to Beacon?" Asked the girl.
"Um...yeah, what about you?" Asked Jaune.
"So am I." The girl said. "I look forward to be fellow students with you." Said the girl. Jaune nervously nods. "Sure, it be great. Here I'll let you get in first." Said Jaune. Letting the girl go inside the cart. Inside, the girl hears whispers.
"Hey, isn't that Pyrrha Nikos?"
"Wow, I can't believe it's her."
"Wow, she looks pretty in person."
The girl, now called Pyrrha Nikos, sighs. Uncomfortable of the whispers. Jaune looked to her in concern. "You alright?" Asked Jaune.
"Yes, I'm fine. Thank you. I didn't get your name." Pyrrha mentioned.
"Jaune Arc."
"It's nice to meet you. My name is Pyrrha." Pyrrha smiled. Then another girl their age with amber eyes and a black bow was standing from across the cart, listening to their conversation.
She looks into her scroll as she dons a good over her, and checks her scroll to see the results in her entrance exams to Beacon.
It was a 100% result to her test and she gets in. "Finally." She puts away her scroll and takes out a book from her bag called: A Man with Two Souls.
-Temple of Ren, Mistral-
Lie Ren, after losing his parents in the village of Kuroyuri was taken in by his aunt and uncle (his remaining relatives) and raised to become the next head of the Ren Clan. Whose family fought in the Great War for the last Empress of Mistral He has a cousin, who is a year younger than him, who adored him like an older brother.
He entered the temple alongside a girl his age, Ginger-haired and wears a sleeveless sweater and white top, and pink skirt, holding a hammer.
"Heading back home, going to Beacon, the future is up ahead!" Her name is Nora Valkyrie. Who is singing in joy. Ren remained silent, but didn't mind her at all. He was smiling as well.
"Never thought you'd be this excited, Nora." Ren said.
"Well, duh! Of course I'm excited! I will bet that we will get to crush anyone's legs!" Said Nora, twirling around in glee for her excitement. Ren took this as a joke. It brought Ren joy to see Nora this happy. When they were young, Ren's relatives had taken in Nora on the same night. Since then, he, Nora, alongside Ren's cousin, Mi, grew up together like a family.
As they entered the Temple of Ren, they were greeted by the clansmen of the Clan. "Welcome back, young master." Bowed one of the clansmen in respect to Ren, who smiled back. "Please, there's not need to bow. I just came here to say my greetings prior to my departure in Beacon."
Ren's aunt is the main head and current matriarch of the family. A formidable swordswoman and huntress who fought in the Atlesian Rebellion against rebels that tried to take over Atlas.
Then Ren takes out a punch of pomegranate tea filters, which is his cousin's favorite. Mi treated Ren like an older brother than a cousin. "Can you prepare some tea for Mi before she gets back from her training?" Ren asked.
"Of course." Said the clansman. And he left.
"I am so going to miss Mi by the time we get to Beacon. I wish she can come with us." Said Nora. Throughout childhood, after being taken in by the Ren Clan, Nora and Mi hung out like sisters.
"I know, Nora. But Mi hasn't had any friends since she was little and has to make progress when she gets a team of her own." Ren points out.
"Aww! But I want to be on a team with you and Mi!" Nora groaned, pouting like a child. Ren shook his head in amusement. "Nora, if it makes you feel any better. We can hang with her again in the Vytyl Festival." Ren said. "Or maybe in the Shadow Day program." Ren assured.
"Really?" Nora glanced at him.
"Of course." Nora then looks at a statue of a man, in the age of 30s, but with a goatee and an archery boy. He resembles Ren, but older. Ren then looks at the statue. But mourns that fact that he lost two of his loved ones.
"I only met your dad once. But I wish I can thank him for saving me...well us actually." Nora said. She thought highly of Ren's father, even if she had met him once. The day before Kuroyuri was massacred, Nora was defended by Ren's father when she was being picked on by three boys. But when Ren tried to intervene, he ran, but not before being stopped by his father, coincidentally. But thankfully, Ren's father only asked what is going on, scaring the boys away.
Nora wished she could've thanked him. But she didn't have the chance. If it weren't for him, Nora wouldn't have met Ren.
Then a clansman bowed to Ren as he came to him for importance. "Yes?" Ren asked.
"Master Lie, the mistress requested your presence." The clansman passed the messages from the matriarch, wishing to see her nephew. Ren nods and headed to meet his aunt inside the temple. "Thank you. I'll be here in a minute." Said Ren.
-Vale-
Ruby was looking around the city of Vale. Where she goes to a convenience dust store to find Yang a present. Many lanterns shining on the lamppost. People enjoying dinner at night.
It was quiet for when there wasn't that much vehicles. "I forgot how big the city is the last time I went. I have to see what to get for Yang." She entered the Dust Store, owned by the Schnee Dust Company.
As she puts on her headphones to put some music, Ruby searches for every panel of Magazines that might interest her sister before she goes to Beacon.
"Whoa! Maybe this one! An Art. BJ7 Rocket Gauntlet. Breaks harder than diamonds to break through the wall with the kinetic energy of 120 miles to launch with fire dust! Yang is going to love it!" Ruby squeals as she reads it to see fit.
Unbeknownst to her, there are rogue men walking inside the store near the cash register.
-Island of Patch-
Yang, Taiyang and Zwei were in the living room getting the arrangements ready for Beacon. Yang puts down the suitcase before leaving the next day.
"I hope Ruby will be fine by the time I leave." Yang said. It was hard for her to leave her sister considering the risk of her fighting the Grimm before getting to Beacon in about two years.
"You know, when your mother and I met, things got quite awkward." Tai recaps his memories in Beacon.
"Yeah, Dad. You and Mom got a spark neither of you knew until now." Yang said. Giggling at some of the stories her father has told her. Taiyang also laughs.
"I'm just worried she had to be on her own for some time. Since Mom left, and I had to be her rock for my sister." Yang said.
"I think given time, Ruby will adapt to it. I know it means a lot to you to be with your sister. But she has to make her own friends, and fight her own battles. There are times you can't overprotect her. This way, she can make her own choices in life." Taiyang advised her.
Taiyang felt ashamed for not being the father Ruby had needed. But since Summer, he doesn't talk about her much. But had to overwork his job as a teacher in Signal. In school was only then that Father and Daughter can have a conversation. And at night were the afternoon classes.
Yang knew Taiyang was right that Ruby has to grow on her own to survive. And to survive is to adapt. But also hopes to have adventures with her for when they both become full-fledged huntresses.
Roman Torchwick, a renowned crime boss and dust/weapons dealer had founded the dust store that Ruby is in. Though she doesn't know what was going on due to the headphones she is wearing with the music blocking the sound of a robbery happening.
"Well, what do we have here." Roman said as he held his cane upward. And peered at the Shopkeep, who is shaken by the face of the man he recognized on wanted posters. Raising his hands up like he was surrending to police. Only he is surrending to a criminal.
"Do you have any idea how long it takes to find a dust shop like this one?" Asked Roman. But it was a rhetoric one.
"P-please. Just take the money. All you want." The Shopkeep said, shakily.
"Oh, relax. I am not here for your money." He turned to one of the thugs dressed in black suits, blood-red dress shirts under, bowler hats and sunglasses. "Grab the dust." He orders. The henchmen nodded.
The rogues then proceed to absorb the dusts from each of the tubes sitting near the walls. Then one ofntbe men heard faint music.
And once he hmfollows the sound of where it was coming from. The man then saw Ruby near the magazine stalls. "Hey! Hands up!" Ruby didn't hear the man as he then walks towards. "Hey, didn't you hear me!"
He then grabbed Ruby's shouldrr for her to turn around and she did. "Huh?" The man gestures her to take off her headphones as Ruby temoved them from her ears. "Yes?"
"I said hands in the air, kid." The man demanded.
Ruby noticed the weapon he was holding in and knew what that means. "Are you robbing me?" Asked Ruby, calmly. She could've panic at a time like this. But having seen and trained with her uncle about becoming a huntress. "Yes!"
"Oh."
But Ruby Rose never panics for something that small. Then she went in combat and threw the man across the store. Roman tried to see what was happening and that's how it all began.
"There, behind the shelves!" One of the other men called out spotting Ruby
Somewhere around Vale City, Yang and Taiyang were searching for Ruby after the news of Roman Torchwick was around the city. Theu knew she can take care of herself. But they just didn't want her to get into trouble, or get hurt.
"Ruby has got to be here somewhere." Yang said, worrying.
"Zwei moght have a better idea where she could've gone." Said Taiyang. As predicted, Zwei picks up Ruby's scent and perked a bark. "Arf!" Zwei runs to where the scent is leading him.
"Zwei must've found her scent. Let's go!" Yang said asbtheu followd the beloved corgi.
Back in the Dust Shop, Ruby emerged using the semblance of speed. Roman then takes a look out the window.
Ruby then shofts her sniper into a scythe. And twirls it down to pin it to the ground. Putting away her headphones.
Roman can't seem to be taking her seriously at first. Due to her age, it's natural thar most adults did not think much when it cones to children and teens fighting. But little did they know is what some are capable of.
"Okay." Roman began. "Get her." He said, lowly.
They all, sans Roman, charged at her at once. Ruby uses her scythe to summersault over the handle and kick one of the thugs. And slashes one of them to knock them towards the lamppost.
Then fires her sniper to burst out of the way and handle the last thug by smaking her Crescent Rose to blew him away. Ruby watches shortly as Roman tried to get away on the rooftop.
Ruby uses her speed to manifest into rose pedals and catches up to him on the rooftops as she glides upward. Then landing on the top to get close in order to stop Roman from getting away.
"Stop!" Shouted Ruby. Roman heard her ans turned around. "Well I got to hand it to you, red. You make quiet the show tonight taking down my men." Roman then threw away his cigarette. And steps on the ashes. "But this is where we part ways."
Then a hovercraft came out of nowhere. Floating behind Torchwick. The searchlight was shining above them as Roman then threw a fire dust at Ruby and fires his cane gun.
As a result it explodes. Like a firecracker. But it didn't hit Ruby. When Ruby uncovered her eyes, she was protected by a woman in a white dress shirt. Her age is a mystery, but she seems to be young between her 30s. Her hair is pale blonde, a black skirt and a cape. She also holds a crop as a weapon.
Ruby was amazed at her semblance. The woman turned to her as she checked for any injuries. "A huntress?" Ruby began. The woman nodded.
The Roman was alarmed that a real huntress is already here, the turned to a pilot responsible for transportation. "We got a huntress!" He warned.
The woman then let's Roman take control of the aircraft. As she then came to the doorway, and faced Ruby and the huntress.
Author's note:
After writing RWBY Volume 4 Redux for a while now. I had been thinming about making a redux versions of Volume 1-3. Also check out the crossover of Young Justice x RWBY: Realities' Collision. It's how there be a crossover with Young Justice instead of a deaged Justice League cause I saw more of the similarities between YJ and RWBY. Also, in this chapter, we don't get the introduction of just Team RWBY, but also Teams JNPR and SSSN. Yes I am having Team SSSN as the main characters cause I see Sun and Neptune more as the main characters since Volume 2. Although not yet until later.
Part 2 will be coming up.
