A Winter Wonderland Labyrinth
This was strange. And that was really saying something when you were the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming and you were married to Captain Hook. Not to mention one of your best friends was Red Riding Hood. But somehow she had found herself in the middle of winter, stumbling around a labyrinth with her husband which had led to her talking to a worm.
It had all started with them going on a date night to a Winter Wonderland which had sprung up in Storybrooke. That in itself should have been a red flag. Nothing just happened in Storybrooke. The sleigh ride had been fun and a snow covered Storybrooke was very picturesque. Then they had set foot in the Labyrinth.
Emma had started to get suspicious when the walls began moving. Killian seemed unphased by it all though. "Wait. Have you been in this labyrinth before?"
"Of course he has." The squeaky cockney voice seemed to come out of nowhere.
"Who said that?" Although it was the least threatening voice she had ever heard, it was still unsettling.
"Down there Swan." Killian pointed down to a small hole in the wall. A little green worm with a shock of blue hair popped it's head out of the hole. "How have you been Syd?"
"Not bad Mate. Heard you got married Hook." The worm looked up at Emma. "This the wife?"
"Emma, meet Syd. Syd, Emma." Killian wasn't even batting an eyelid that he was introducing his wife to a worm.
"We aren't going to get a visit from the Goblin King, are we?" This was similar to a movie she had seen when she was a teenager.
"Jared's busy wrangling some rouge goblins, so it's doubtful he'll make an appearance today." Syd blinked up at her.
"Tell him I said hi." Killian took hold of Emma's hand. "Which way do we go to leave the labyrinth?" They had spent enough time walking around in circles.
"There's an exit down there on the left." Syd nodded the way they had just come.
"It was nice meeting you Syd." Emma did a double take that she was talking to a worm as though he was an old school friend of her husband's. Which in Storybrooke was entirely possible.
"Nice to meet you too Emma." Syd nodded to her before looking up at Killian. "Stay away from the hay ride."
Killian nodded. "Good seeing you Syd." He led Emma in the direction Syd had indicated and out of the labyrinth. "Why don't we call it a night?"
Emma had to admit the fun had worn off and seriously what could beat talking to a blue haired worm who knew the Goblin King? "Sounds good." Then she remembered Syd's warning about the hay ride. "Why are we staying away from the hay ride though?"
"It's probably a portal." Killian shrugged. "Jared likes to escape the goblin chaos quite regularly. I don't think being King was quite what he expected it to be."
"Should we warn the town?" Goodness knows where some unsuspecting townsperson might end up. As Sherriff she felt a responsibility to keep the people of Storybrooke safe.
Killian walked straight up to the driver of the hay ride and whispered something to him. They had a quick muttered conversation before he gee upped the horses. "Ride's closed folks."
"Alright love?" Killian walked back to her and took hold of her hand. "Paddy mentioned where the portal leads to, so if anyone's missing we'll know where to find them."
Since Emma had never ventured into a portal she had enjoyed and so long as she didn't have to hop into one to find any lost townsfolk, she was happy. Nobody was screaming over a lost child so the odds were good on that one. "Where do you know Paddy from?"
"Neverland." Killian glanced over his shoulder. "He's aged significantly since leaving."
"I thought he looked familiar." All of the lost boys had aged rapidly since leaving Neverland. Her parents were watching Hope so they still had the rest of the evening to themselves. "Netflix and chill?"
"What are we going to watch love?" He always asked but they usually ended up watching a romantic comedy. After all, watching Disney movies could be quite traumatic when you knew the people represented by the cartoons. And they had more than enough action and adventure in their lives.
"There's a new comedy." Anything less exciting than what had become everyday life in Storybrooke.
Killian chuckled to himself. "Sounds good." After a life at sea, a night in with his wife sounded like bliss.
