"Hahahahahaahaaha!"
"Okay Susie…" Said Oscar after the memory faded out.
"Hahahaahahahahaahahaha!"
Despite the fact that it was gone his tormentor was still laughing almost hysterically.
"Okay, Susie…" Oscar said again.
"Oh my gosh…" She said as the laughter finally began to subside. "Like how did you even… hahahaahahahaha…."
Or so Oscar thought.
*sigh*
"Okay, see you later…" He said as he left a now on the ground, still laughing Susie.
He couldn't believe that she knew that about him now. Sure he was young but still, it was one of those memories that animals take to the grave.
Well, it was done now and Oscar could once again turn his attention to more pressing matters. Though he was still not much closer to making any decision.
"Hey, Oscar." Called someone he would rather not talk to right now.
"Heyyy… Lucy." Oscar said feigning a smile.
"What's going on? Kind of late isn't it?" She asked.
"Yeah, I was... I guess I lost track of time. What are you doing out?" He asked her trying to get the conversation away from him.
"Me and some of the girls were watching a movie in Alexa's cabin. I was just heading back to mine when I saw you walking." She answered.
"Oh… well we better head back before any of the counselors…" Oscar began to say but was interrupted.
"Hello… Campers should be in their cabin… it's past curfew." Said Alice as she descended near the two of them.
"Oh… yeah… we were just heading back." Lucy told her.
Then there was a sudden weird shift. Oscar could tell Alice seemed slightly annoyed. The way she looked at the two of them.
Oscar knew that Alice knew of Lucy's confession, but he was pretty sure Lucy didn't know Alice's. That made the situation all the more tense as Lucy looked to Alice then gave a confused look to Oscar.
"Well yeah, good night Alice." Oscar suddenly said as he and Lucy walked toward the campers' cabins.
"Good night." Alice responded… not rough but there was a bit of perhaps firmness in her voice.
"What was that all about?" Asked Lucy as Oscar first walked her to her cabin.
"What?" Oscar asked back really not wanting to get into it right now.
"Hmm… never mind." She responded upon reaching her cabin. "Goodnight." She told him.
With that, she went into her Cabin and Oscar walked back to his.
After shutting the door, he leaned against it and slowly went into a sitting position as he let out a long groan.
"Oscar?" A voice said causing him to nearly jump up.
It wasn't Alice or Lucy though, no, it was the tin can that he and hedgehog had set up so they could communicate with each other while still in their cabins. Despite being set up their first summer here the can's still worked pretty well.
"Hey, Hedgehog." He said after picking up the can and putting it to his mouth.
"Late night?" She asked.
"Um… kind of… why are you still up?" He asked.
"Oh, just doing some research…" She told him. "Ramona sent me some interesting books about the history of this place."
"Recent history or like over 1000 years ago history?" Oscar asked her.
"In-between, it's about the whole rebellion nearly 300 years ago." She answered. "You know Susie was involved with that?"
"Don't mention Susie right now." Said Oscar.
"Oh… what'd she do this time?" Hedgehog asked.
"I'd rather not talk about it." He told her.
"That bad huh?" She asked.
"Mhmmm…" Was all he said in response.
"Anyway… I'm pretty tired." Oscar said as he let out a yawn. "Even Jam Jam is already asleep."
"Yeah, well see you tomorrow." Hedgehog said.
"Yup…" Was all he said in reply before putting down the can.
Oscar let out another Yawn and simply retired to bed without putting on his pajamas as not to wake Jam Jam.
It had been a long day.
Susie lay in her bed.
giggle* *giggle*
A chuckle or two escaped her as she put her covers on. She had only just got home after nearly dying of laughter from Oscar's memory.
"Really, what does Alice see in him?" She asked again as she turned in bed.
However, as she started to drift to sleep… she took that question a little more seriously. They were both in the elephant family, and he was the only elephant camper… perhaps she simply took an interest in the only camper that looked similar to her. Perhaps that interest became attraction over time or something like that. Then again come to think of it… Oscar took an early interest in Alice as well. Even getting his monster friends to come to her house. Also, he celebrated some sort of elephant day with her or something like that. And Despite not saying it to them Susie knew that Oscar considered Alice the kindest of the camp counselors.
"Pfft…" Said Susie. "…Silly little Elephant."
Yawn*
"Oh, well." She said as she realized she was too tired to truly dwell on all that right now.
"Night Jim-Jam." She said.
"Night Susie…" The talking shirt said back.
The next day went by… relatively regular. The campers had their events, with the camp counselors watching by and Susie trying to pretty much make their lives miserable.
However, Oscar still found himself in a conundrum. Avoiding Lucy was relatively easy, but Alice… she was more like a hovering force. Not really approaching him, but still the whole thing just added to the pressure the young elephant was already feeling.
"You okay Oscar?" Asked Hedgehog as they sat down for lunch.
"Huh? Yeah…" he answered.
"It's just you've been pretty quiet all day… like what's up?" She asked.
It took every fiber of his being not to tell his best friend what was really going on.
"Not… too much…" He answered as he continued to eat.
"Got the last pudding cup." Said Max as he joined them.
"Good for you." Hedgehog told him.
"So, what's the plan for our free time today?" Max asked as he started to eat.
"Not sure… what about you Oscar?" Hedgehog asked.
"I'm down for whatever…" He said as he ate.
"Okay, what's going on?" Asked Hedgehog.
"What?" Oscar asked back.
"Don't look at me." Max said.
"Max…" Hedgehog stated as she leaned in slightly.
"Um…" Was all the young bat replied as he tried to look away.
"Okay… you guys are hiding something…" She stated.
"What… w…" Was all Oscar got out but who was he kidding?
"Okay… Two girls confessed to me on the first day of camp and I'm not sure which one I like, and I don't want to hurt either of them and I told Max and asked him not to…"
"Dude, she doesn't need the whole story…" Max interrupted upon hearing his part in this.
"That's Oscar… once it comes out it all comes out." Hedgehog said with a slight chuckle.
"Let me guess…" She said. "Lucy?"
"Yeah… and Alice." Oscar told her.
"Alice? Well… wow… a counselor huh? Our little Oscar is growing up." She teased.
"Knock it off." He told her.
"Okay… well let's eat and then I definitely want to hear all the details after." She told the two.
Oscar nodded and then finished his food. After lunch the three headed out to an area where they would have more privacy.
Which was actually a tough achievement in a place where trees, clouds, and even dandelions had ears.
Thank you for all who made it to the end. I know this first chapter was a bit short but just setting the premise. The other ones will probably be a bit longer.
May God bless you all.
