At the Ketchum Residence...
After two long days of recovery, Amari had finally returned home.
He thankfully didn't get too much backlash from Ash and Delilah; Mostly because he contacted them earlier in the day.
Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said about the other two Pokémon living with them...
'What took you so long to come back?!' Newtwo yelled, worry written all over her face.
'I understand your Eevee means a lot to you, but you've been gone for an entire DAY! And I thought Ash was bad...' Mewtwo said, more anger than worry on his face.
Amari rubbed the back of his head, frowning slightly.
"S-Sorry...I got into a bit of a commotion with some old...friends..." He said, forcing out the last part of his sentence.
Mew quickly uncloaked.
'So, we're lying now?' Mew asked.
Amari winced, knowing she would've probably said something.
"M-Mew, please-" He tried to say, before being interrupted by the pink feline.
'No, I believe after what's happened since yesterday, you need to explain yourself.' Mew said.
Amari frowned more, remaining silent as he looked unsure.
Both Mewtwo and Newtwo raised an eyebrow, wanting to know more about what had happened.
'They deserve to know, Amari.' Mew said.
"Eevee..." Tera muttered, also agreeing with Mew's point.
Amari took a deep breath.
"Sit down...it's gonna be a long story." He said.
'Hmph, it better be.' Mewtwo grumbled, as the four moved to the living room.
Once everyone was prepared, Amari took another deep breath.
"Okay, here goes nothing..."
It was summer at a basketball court.
Squeaking shoes and bouncing balls echoed throughout the area, as well as the crowd of young, teenage kids talking about what their future plans were.
Then there was Amari, or at least, a younger, much more weaker looking Amari.
He cradled in a corner where three other teenagers crowded him.
He had bruises on his arms and legs, his shirt was ruined, and a black eye on his face.
He cradled himself in pain and fear, trying to shield his body from harm.
"Get up, I didn't hit you that hard." The blonde teenager spoke, a smirk on his face.
"Jeez, Trey...at least let the boy defend himself." The other male teenager said towards the blonde.
"Ugh, does it matter, Nessie?" The third, female teenager asked, a frown on her face. "It's gonna end the same way: He gets his ass beaten." She said.
"No need to be such a bummer, Jessie..." Nessie responded.
"I said, GET UP!" Trey exclaimed, kicking Amari straight in the gut.
"URGH-!" Amari grunted, clutching his stomach in pain.
"Oh, shit! Tell em, Trey!" Nessie said, cheering on the blonde teenager.
"Nngh...please...stop..." Amari grunted, his body writhing in pain.
"And why would we do that, freak?" Jessie asked. "No one likes you, not even your family." She said. "Who's going to be our stress bag if we let you go?" She asked further.
Amari remained silent, tears falling out of his eyes.
"Aw, did I make the little baby cry? I'm sorry...not." Jessie said, spitting on the boy's face, before turning around.
"Boy's, let's leave this worthless bag of trash...we've wasted enough time with him..." She said.
Trey and Nessie looked at each other, then shrugged, as they followed behind her.
"See you later, freak." Nessie said, before laughing as the three walked off.
Amari sat up and hugged his legs closed to his body, burying his face as he cried silently.
"That's about it...it's been like that for years...and even now, I guess..." Amari said, finishing his story.
Silence remained in the room for what felt like hours.
Until, somebody finally did something.
Mewtwo, surprisingly, had hugged the boy.
"A-Ah...Mewtwo...?" Amari asked, startled.
'Just...accept it for now...' Mewtwo said, his tail wrapping around the boy in an almost-protective manner.
Mew and Newtwo remained silent, a plethora of thoughts crossing their minds.
'You...You've dealt with this...all your life?' Mew asked, finally speaking.
Amari nodded.
"It's not that big of a deal, it was in the past..." Amari said.
'It IS a big deal, especially considering the other things you went through back then for your age, Amari.' Newtwo said, also finally speaking up. 'Your childhood—your entire LIFE since you were born, had revolved around these types of people. That's not okay.' She explained.
"Well, I-" Amari tried to speak, before being cut off.
'Will you LISTEN?!' Mewtwo exclaimed, his body shaking in a mix of anger and frustration. 'Stop trying to pretend that you're okay, you're clearly SHAKING as we speak since explaining all of this!' He said. 'Stop defending these people you have the nerve to call "friends" or "family" and accept that you need help!' He yelled.
Silence dawned over the group, Amari's eyes widened as the three's words sinked in.
"What do you want me to do...?" Amari asked quietly, his body visibly trembling. "I'm tired of having to relive this trauma, to have new issues to deal with..." He said, tears welling up in his eyes. "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?!" He exclaimed at the three, a mix of anger, sadness, and desperation in his eyes. "I'm already trying to recover from being beaten TWICE, and now I'm suddenly having do deal with potentially being the child of a literal GOD!" He screamed.
"You're...what...?" A male voice asked from the door.
Amari turned around, his heart sinking at who it was.
Ash.
"A-Ash...I..." Amari tried to say something, but his mind was blank, unsure how to explain himself.
"You're...the child of Dialga?" He asked.
Amari froze, his brain processing what Ash had said.
"W-Well, no, I..." He tried to explain, before Mew interrupted him.
'It's none of your concern, Ash. I understand you've helped in situations like this, but right now Amari needs to talk to actual Pokémon who have much more experience with this.' Mew said.
Ash was shocked for a few seconds, before he came back to his senses.
"I-If you say so, Mew...but, I do wanna know more about it someday." He said, before walking off.
Silence, once again.
'...So, you were saying?' Mewtwo asked, his arms and tail still wrapped around the boy.
Amari sighed deeply.
"I give up...I forgot what I was gonna say after Ash walked in, anyways..." He said. "I'm tired, I'm stressed over...all of this...I just...I don't know..." He continued, his body then going limp on Mewtwo's.
Mewtwo sighed himself.
'I apologize for pushing you, if I did...but, this is a much more serious matter, and you should know that better than anyone else here.' He said.
'Moreover, this is the second time you've gotten hurt by people from your past, even with Mew this time!' Newtwo added.
'Speaking of which, what took you so long to help the boy?! Did you WANT him to get beaten up?' Mewtwo asked, glaring at the pink feline.
'D-Don't say that! I was just scared of being seen...you know how everyone and their mother is about legendary Pokémon like me...' Mew said.
'You'd rather protect your own freedom than help the same boy you've been cuddling with for weeks now...I thought you were better than this, Mew.' Newtwo said.
"S-She did help me, at least when Jessica started using her Raichu...to...shock me..." Amari said hesitantly, his head still throbbing as he thought about those painful moments.
'Hmph, it still would've been generous to help him EARLIER.' Newtwo grumbled.
Mew tilted her head down, clearly aware of her mistake.
'Sorry, I just...panicked, okay? I wanted to help but there was a lot of trainers near, and I didn't want to draw their attention...I still helped him...' She said, tearing up slightly, something rarely seen from the usually cheerful pink feline.
Amari frowned.
He caused this to happen...
He placed a hand on Mew's head, petting her affectionately.
"It's okay, Mew...I'm fine now because you still decided to help me. In the end, that's what matters..." He said. "Nobody got too hurt, so in the end, shouldn't that be what matters?" He asked.
Mew purred affectionately, nodding slowly at the boy.
'It's more so that there's a chance that it'll happen again, Amari.' Newtwo said. 'Unlike your father, we can't just get them arrested, they're still teenagers.' She explained. 'They'd probably lie to the police anyway...'
'Imagine what would happen if you decided to leave without one of us, and you were spotted by them, or any other dangerous person that used to abuse you?' Mewtwo asked.
Amari frowned as he thought of the possibility.
"They would probably kill me..." He muttered, his stomach twisting at the thought.
'Exactly.' Mewtwo said, nodding his head.
"Then...what do you want me to do...?" Amari asked. "It's not like I can just stop going outside; I don't want to be trapped inside of here like I was back at my old home..." He said, frowning.
'You could start by asking for help, maybe.' Mewtwo said, narrowing his eyes.
"But you guys don't look like the type to be comfortable around a large crowd of people..." Amari said.
'We aren't.' Mewtwo said admittedly. 'We used to hate humans, actually...now, it's more so hard to trust them...' He explained.
'Who says we can't risk trying, though?' Newtwo asked. 'Mew can surely cloak all three of us, right?' She asked.
Mew eyes widened at the suggestion, her ears perking up.
'Y-Yes, I can do that...' She said, finally speaking. 'Though, are you sure...? I don't want you two feeling uncomfortable...' She asked.
'If it means not seeing Amari in bandages every time he comes home, as well as not hearing Ms. Ketchum yelling with worry, then I say it's worth the trouble.' Mewtwo said. 'We need to start stepping out of our comfort zones, anyway...' He admitted reluctantly.
Newtwo nodded.
'I agree; It's for Amari's safety.' She said.
"S-So you guys are just...okay with this...?" Amari asked.
'Would you rather be stuck here everyday?' Mewtwo asked.
"Well, no, but I-" Amari tried to argue, but once again was cut off.
'Then we have no other option but to accompany you.' Mewtwo said. 'Do you plan on doing anything tommorow?' He asked.
"I...I think after everything that's happened today, I just need to rest for a while..." Amari said. "Maybe think about all of this 'Arceus' stuff..." He added.
'Maybe you should sleep down here for tonight.' Newtwo said. 'You don't look like you'd be able to sleep alone right now.' She added.
"I-I'm fine, really...I don't want to be a burden-" Amari tried to say, before he felt Mewtwo's arms squeezing him.
'I can read your mind.' Mewtwo said. 'I may dislike humans, but I'd feel ashamed of myself if I applied that logic to you.' He continued.
Amari frowned softly, unsure if it was really okay to take the two's offer.
He felt Mew land on his head, looking at him with a softened expression.
'Just for tonight? Please?' She asked, her gaze pleading.
Amari sighed, seeing no way to deny the offer.
He secretly wanted to anyway, but he felt like it was a weird request.
"Okay..." Amari said.
The three psychics smiled.
'Thank you.' Newtwo said. 'Do you need any help getting up?' She asked.
"T-That would be nice...thanks..." Amari said, grunting in pain as his injuries were still healing.
Mewtwo used his psychic abilities to hold Amari in the air, as Newtwo and Mew used their own to create a makeshift pallet for Amari to sleep on.
"U-Uhm...is this safe...?" Amari asked, slightly nervous from being held up in the air.
'You say that as if I'll drop you.' Mewtwo said, narrowing his eyes at the boy.
'It IS his first time experiencing being held telekinetically; I think any normal person would be scared.' Newtwo said.
Mewtwo rolled his eyes.
Mew simply giggled, enjoying the small interaction, a great distraction from the conversation earlier.
In the 'bed'...
Amari was laying on the makeshift pallet the three psionic felines had made for him.
But those said psionic felines were...laying next to him.
VERY close to him, actually.
Struggling to sleep?' A male voice asked.
Amari turned to see Mewtwo looking at him.
"Ah, uhm...a little...never really...been this close to people...or anyone, actually..." Amark explained. "Just feels weird, is all..." He said.
'I see...guess we really have a lot in common...' Mewtwo murmured.
"What?" Amari asked.
'Nothing, was just recalling a few memories...' Mewtwo said, leaving Amari in confusion.
'Go to sleep...' Mew whispered to the two, her eyes half-lidded in a mix of exhaustion and slight anger.
'Whatever.' Mewtwo said, turning to face the wall next to him, though his tail remained with Newtwo's on Amari's legs, providing some form of comfort.
Amari sighed softly, looking up at the ceiling.
Is this...really my life now?
Living with psychic Pokémon?
Hell, being the SON of a god Pokémon...?
Can I really...call this a better life...?
Amari remained silent, before sighing again, as he closed his eyes.
'Maybe one day I'll find the answers to these questions...if any at all...' Amari said, as he drifted off into sleep.
Amari gets a lecture from the psychics.
The Psychics get a story in return.
