Our Beginnings III – Stares

Chiaki looked vacantly at nothing in particular, her eyes darted across the room until it fell on the door. The morning classes have already ended and it was time for lunch.

"Something on your mind, Nanami-san?"

The Ultimate Gamer shakes her head and looks towards the blue-haired boy that approached her, he was accomplished by a redhead boy and a pink-haired one.

"You've looked down ever since classes started." Comments the red-haired boy with a bandage on his cheek.

"If there's someone bothering ya, just tell and I will whack' em with my screwdriver!" The pinkette says with a toothy grin, and because of his really sharp teeth, it looked pretty funny.

Chiaki giggles. "Thanks for worrying about me, Shingetsu-kun, Daimon-kun, Soda-kun." She smiles softly and gets up from her seat. "But I'm fine really… I think." With a polite bow, the gamer walks out of the classroom and with her favorite portable console in hand.

Once she's out of earshot, the blue-haired Ultimate scratches the back of his head. "I wonder what happened to her." He turns to face the other boys. "Could it be related to that boy from class 78?" Asks the bluenette, more to himself than to anyone else.

Daimon, the redhead, crosses his arms and closes his eyes. "We can always go there and-" He smirks. "-Talk to him about it."

"Daimon-kun." Shingetsu says in a harsh tone, making the redhead flinch and the smirk on his face disappear. "You've been behaving well lately, but remember, one slip and I can throw you out of the school if necessary." The bluenette puts his hands behind his back and stares down the other boy.

"Geez Shingetsu, no need to go on him that hard. My man was just making a joke." Soda the pink-haired boy, comments making Shingetsu's harsh glare soften a bit.

"You are right Soda-kun." Smiling a bit, the blue-haired boy bows politely. "My apologies."

Daimon sighs and shuffle his own hair. "Nah man, it's alright. I did cause a lot of trouble last year so I get why you have to keep me in check."

The other boys nod and the trio turns away, leaving their classroom and making their way towards class 78-A.

Makoto smacked his head against the desk and groaned.

He never had a teacher like Kyosuke before, the man was ruthless in his way of teacher. If he asked you a question, you only had like three seconds to starts answering or he would just ignore you and go to the next student, all while writing something in his notepad that Makoto was certain wasn't anything good.

The brunette groaned again, before lifting his head up and looking around the classroom.

It was almost empty, almost all of the students had already left to go have lunch at the cafeteria. Only Makoto and Kyoko are left on the classroom.

His eyes land on the detective girl, she is quietly sitting on her corner of the class with her eyes closed.

Deciding to try his luck again, the brunette gets up and walks towards the Ultimate Detective.

Getting close, he stops just by the side of her desk.

Makoto never really stopped to have a good look at Kyoko's appearance.

She was really beautiful.

Long lavender hair that complemented her pale, almost ghostly skin tone really well. It almost like he was looking at one of those beautiful paintings that his mom showed him sometimes.

Although to be fair the majority of Ultimates are, objectively speaking, above average on the attractiveness scale… with some very glaring exceptions.

'Not that I have any place to judge other people on that aspect…' Thinks the brunette to himself.

"Do you need anything?" Kyoko asks in that cold tone that Makoto always heard her use.

"O-Oh, uh, hehe-" The boy chuckles awkwardly to himself and scratches the back of his head. "-Uh, we already met before but I don't think you caught my name." Straitening himself out, Makoto offers her a soft smile. "I'm-"

"Naegi Makoto." Interrupts the detective. "Do you have any other business with me?" She asks still not looking at him.

The boy is taking by surprise. 'Guess she did heard my name that day.' He coughs falsely and then says. "N-Not really, no. Sorry for bothering you."

While she didn't sound annoyed, Makoto could very easily read the room and it was clear that Kyoko didn't want to talk.

"I see. Have a good day." She finishes, not looking towards him once during their conversation.

"Y-Yeah, see you around?" The brunette replies and she says nothing in return.

Seeing that there's nothing more to talk with her, Makoto sighs and turns towards the classroom door.

The brunette didn't expect that he would be friends with everyone from the get go, he expected to meet people like Touko and Nagito who are antagonists towards him.

That's fine, that's normal.

Not everyone is gonna like you at first, Makoto understood that.

Yet, Kyoko just felt… off.

Makoto didn't knew how to explain it, so it might just be him feeling kinda hurt by the way she just, ignores him.

He stops in front of the classroom door and shakes his head. "No point in thinking about it." Throwing one last glance towards Kyoko, the brunette sighs and walks out into the hallway.

'Maybe I should go see Chiaki-chan?' The brunette thinks to himself while walking down the hallways of Hope's Peak.

A chill runs down his spine as the boy notices the stares coming from the Reserve Course students. Their gaze is harsh and very judgmental with a hint of jealousy.

'The feeling from earlier hasn't changed.' Makoto stops and tries to wave towards a reserve course student, but he just huffs and leaves with his friends.

The brunette thought that it was the fog earlier that made their eyes look so harsh, yet now he can see that they really don't seem to like the Ultimates very much.

'I should ask Munakata-sensei what exactly is the Reserve Course.' Shaking his head, the luckster goes back to walking towards the courtyard.

Kyoko opens her eyes and looks around the classroom. 'Almost time.' She thinks to herself while watching seconds pass by on her phone's screen.

It was almost time for her to end it all…

"Excuse me?"

The detective is taken out of her thoughts by a masculine voice coming from the classroom's door.

"Yes." Kyoko notices a group of three boys, a bit older than herself walks in. "What is it?" She looks down again at her phone.

"Do you know where we could find your classmate Naegi Makoto-kun?" A blue-haired boy, seemingly the leader of the group, asks.

The lavender-haired detective looks at the time on her phone, still not looking at them. "You just missed him." She replies coldly while getting up. "If you run, you might still catch up to him." Without any other words, she walks out of the classroom leaving the three boys behind.

She had no time to waste with them, her classmates or this school.

Her only objective was to talk with him and once that's done, she can finally stop playing house and get back go real business.

'Oji-sama was against this, but I can't continue without doing it.' Kyoko continues on her path, the harsh stares of the Reserve Course felt like nothing to her. She had no time to waste with them either. 'On the name of the Kirigiri family.' The detective clutches the phone on her hand, although her face is kept as calm as before.

I will cut ties with you… Jin.

Our Beginnings III – Stares

So, a chapter to properly introduce Kyoko and her whole plot in this story.

I'll also probably do a side-story with her and Jin to properly introduce that plot, I have some cool ideas with Kyoko, but that is a thing for the future.

Anyways, hope y'all liked it and see you around!
