Cleo Pov:

"For most queens of Egypt, they have husbands or partners that would stand by their side for all eternity and would use whatever means to stay together. Especially if one of them was sent to the underworld which was an issue years ago with humans when a mummy tried to bring back his lover, but that was taken care of with a lot of panic happening during the moment. My king? Was Deuce Gorgon. The son of Medusa and Lyra Gorgon was my king, someone I enjoyed being around along with seeing him show off his Gorgon traits and handling anything in his path. Before Clawdeen and the others came to Monster High, we were the main talk of the scene and made everyone scream when they saw us. But things changed when we broke up when the summer came, which made me focus on Fearleading and showing my parents how fierce of a mummy I was to be the next future queen of the family. Sure Nefera is the first to be the queen, but eventually it will be my turn. So I won't let anyone or anything stop me from becoming the queen of the sand."

Monster High-Cleo's Room

It was an ordinary day at the school with classes not happening and the students having the chance to relax, Cleo was taking the chance to look at her Icoffin to check up on her sister Nefera who was traveling around the monster world. She was jealous of how Nefera was visiting several stores with the latest fashion trends and meeting important monsters. It was comforting to see her enjoying herself while she was here at Monster High dealing with the recent changes that have happened, especially how she'd help during the Fright Ball incident. It also brought up strange feelings about how she was involved in the fight with Gigan after Deuce protected her from his stone gaze when he used it on the cyborg.

"Why can't I stop thinking about that night?"

Cleo thought to herself that since their breakup, the two had become close friends and helped one another when it came to either schoolwork or sports since the seasons were starting up. However, after the fight and how close they've gotten, she began to question whether or not if it was right if they had broken up. Especially since Deuce decided to break up.

"That snake-headed jerk. Even if we're friends he still drives me nuts!"

She shouted in frustration as her yell was able to shatter one of the mirrors by her bed. Cleo sighed at how her mummy powers got the better of her and had several of her servants clean it up since she didn't want to ruin her nails. With that being cleaned up, she noticed Ghouilia and Armor walking in with several books in their hands that involved ancient history that involved both Monsters and Kaiju.

"Did something happen when we left?"

Armor questioned about the mess that was being cleaned up as the ghoul didn't say anything since it was a personal thing that she didn't want to discuss with. Deciding to handle the readings by himself, Ghoulia wanted to ask her friend about what was wrong since she was the only one who could get the truth out of Cleo. Groaning to the mummy if things were alright.

"I'm just. Copping with how things have changed recently, mostly with monsters of witchcraft attending Monster High and involved in another incident that I can't tell my parents because they don't know about the trip I took to the human world."

She explained what was bothering her since compared to most of the student's abilities that allowed them to have an edge over one another. Mummy powers were complicated since they involved curses and using the plagues of Egypt whenever their emotions got overwhelming. Ghoulia could tell that it made Cleo nervous since there could be several witches and warlocks that could surpass her, yet the zombie could tell there was another issue about what was wrong with her friend as she groaned toward her phone showing several old photos of her and Deuce.

"During my time there. Certain feelings were brought up when the others and I fought that hook-handed cyborg, especially Deuce protecting me when he turned that jerk into stone. It made me feel, special. Like in the old days."

Recalling how whenever she spent time around Deuce made her feel calm and not need to act perfectly in front of everyone around her. Ghoulia remembered those days since Cleo smiled more and laughed whenever a joke was made, it was a rare sight to see her happy. Groaning towards Cleo if she had talked to Deuce about the feeling, she shook her head since it be uncomfortable to bring that up with him.

"If I can ask with your permission. How did your breakup happen in the first place?"

Armor asked as Ghoulia gestured him to not bring up old wounds as the scarabs around Cleo's side rushed over and started to fly over the spikey Kaiju since it was something that didn't concern him. While she did admire her scarabs for being overprotective of her feelings, it might be a good thing to explain what made them the perfect couple at Monster High.

"Come back little ones. It wasn't his fault."

Cleo called back her bugs back to her side and allowed Armor to breath from how the swarm had almost made him pass out. Wandering a bit before collapsing on the side, Ghoulia walked over to help him up and grab the three of them several snacks from her bag that she kept for just the occasion. The two gave Cleo their full attention as the mummy got herself ready to tell the story.

"It started back when me and Deuce were in middle school. I was just learning about how flawless I was before noticing Deuce being dropped off by his mothers, he was right now looking over his sister since she had been home schooled at their temple when she first hatched."

Remembering how their relationship started when she first saw him, Deuce was the protective brother over Mira even up to now since she was shy and cute whenever the boys noticed her. During that time she was focused on herself and trying to be popular amongst the ghouls of the school, Ghoulia remembered it since she was new to middle school.

"A couple of weeks in when I learned how to communicate with my scarabs. Mira was fascinated by them and tried to play with them, they scurried off to me when Mira got too close. I still remember how scared she was when she saw my face when the scarabs came running to me. Which soon enough brought Deuce over to see if things were alright."

She continued the story of how Mira was the reason she met with Deuce and that despite his cool attitude, he was a big brother who looked over his sister. Ghoulia and Armor noticed how calm Cleo was acting while hearing her memory with him and wanting to learn about him more.

"Soon enough after taking the chance to speak with him. We slowly got together; I met his mothers along with his other sisters who were bigger than him. It makes sense that he wants to look after Mira since his sisters do that with him already."

Continuing the story of how they got closer to the point where they became a couple. Deuce introduced her to his family while she did the same, which was the best feeling ever to be around someone who isn't royalty or cares about appearance. Just as it sounded amazing and wanting to hear about their times together, Ghoulia noticed how Cleo's face suddenly fell as she was getting to the reason for their breakup.

"When summer came, we were spending time together at Boo York at my Baba's partners building. They were having a meeting about trading gold to other parts of the monster community. I mean things were going well and then during the moment when we had time together, he wanted to break up."

Telling them in a sad matter that just as things seemed to be going alright until having a personal moment with Deuce alone. Cleo decided to not finish since the memory was too much for her as one of her scarabs flew over to hand her a tissue. Ghoulia walked over to comfort her since it was tough bringing up a bad moment in her life, all in the while was Armor trying to figure something out.

"What other business was going on at the building?"

He questioned what was happening during Boo York as Ghoulia groans at him for trying to bring it up again. While he was ready to face one of the plagues of Egypt, Cleo decided not to do it as she would respond to the Ankylosaurus kaiju's question.

"It just trading gold to other royal monster families. Also how me and Nefera's future be since will eventually be rulers of the family business and will be meeting other royalties from other families of grand importance."

Recalling what was happening at the building since her time there was spent with Deuce and enjoying the sights of Boo York. Her father's partners wanted to be sure that his daughters were ready for when they'd have to handle the same responsibilities that he and his wife do to help support the family. Ghoulia herself took a moment to think about it since she was putting together how it could have affected the relationship between her and Deuce. Groaning to Cleo about if it was a private moment, Cleo shook her head that it wasn't exactly secret since Deuce knew how important Cleo was going be when she'd eventually be involved in the family business.

"So. That would mean you'd meet others who would be equal to your father's reputation. Who survived through the centuries of humans and have managed to stay rich despite the years going by?"

Armor questioned Cleo again as the mummy nodded that other monster teenagers her age would take up their parent's business and become powerful monsters in the community. Especially Draculaura and Junior since they're connected to the vampire and Kaiju communities, taking a moment to put things together and seeing what the point of it was. Cleo's eyes widen at how she was able to put it together to the point where the scarabs and her servants noticed the sudden realization on her face.

"He didn't break up with me because our relationship wasn't working. He broke up with me to make sure I'd focus on being the next mummy queen."

She summarized the meaning of her relationship ending and how Deuce did it so that Cleo could handle her family's duties without him distracting her. While it sounded noble of him to let her on looking after her parent's kingdom, Ghoulia, and Armor saw how the realization turned from shock to suddenly anger in mere seconds.

"That son of a snake!"

Cleo shouted as her yell made the scarabs flee from her the servants ran out of the room leaving Ghoulia and Armor to cover their ears as the screaming caused the windows and mirrors to break into the entire room. It was frightening that her yell made the door open loud which caused her voice to go through the hallways. Just as the yelling had finished, Cleo got up from her bed and started to grab her things which made Ghoulia ask what Cleo was going to do now after figuring out the reason.

"Well. First, I'm going to try and get myself a Coffin Bean. Then? I'm going get my gorgon back and beat the afterlife out of his head!"

Announcing her intentions before heading out of the room in a huff which scared the teenagers at how Cleo was determined to track down Deuce after realizing the reason for their breakup. Concern about how she'd talk with Deuce, the two tried to get their phones out to see if they could contact their friends but saw how the mummy's screen had cracked their screens. Nervous at how they didn't have any way to contact them, they ran out of the room to hopefully make it to Deuce before the angry mummy did.

Later-Gymnasium

During the open gym time, the students take time to exercise and work out together. Caesar offered the guys a chance to talk amongst themselves without the ghouls around since this talk had to involve them and no one else. They were right now throwing Casketball into the hoops since it was a good way to let out steam.

"How exactly do you want to handle any Kaiju who want to attempt to fight you for the right of being king?"

Caesar asked Junior since he didn't have to handle things by himself after showing how they could handle a group of witches by themselves. The lizard rolled his eyes before throwing the ball into the hoop since it wasn't like him to bring others into his fights since he could handle them by himself.

"How about, not at all? Since I've already taken out my dad's oldest enemy with one fist. Yes, Ghidorah finished it and the ghouls helped out. But I'm the one that blew his head up with one fist."

He explained that it was a bad idea to drag his friends into a fight since most of the Kaiju that came after him played dirty. Use almost any means to take him out, plus he didn't want any trouble from their parents if he got them hurt during his fights.

"Come on, Zilla. We were able to handle ourselves with Gigan when he went slasher on us, but look at us? We're alive and kicking. Maybe do even more with the karate training I've been getting from Jinafire, she just transferred from China and she's killer with her moves."

Heath stated how he was taking it too seriously to protect his friends since they could handle themselves. Especially how the fire imp demonstrated some moves that his dragon friend had taught him, the moment ended with Heath slipping to the floor and throwing a fireball at Junior but only burned the ball in his hands. Growling towards the imp for burning the ball, Tusk breathes ice upon it so it doesn't cause the alarms to go off.

"Back in the village. Tribe that fights together, is strong together. Yet, when there's one that is stronger than everyone. They usually are the most stubborn and have their reasons to not bring anyone in."

The white fur Kaiju summarized which made Junior question if Tusk was doing it to get him upset or to prove a point. Walking over to throw out the frozen ball, Rhodey was next to toss a new ball in the hoops where he did it by flying over them.

"Maybe he just wants the glory to himself since he's been getting popular lately. Maybe even getting the attention of several ghouls who might want to try and be his queen."

He teased Junior how he'd get asked to be a part of a couple which caused Junior to catch the ball that Rhodey threw into the hoop and throw it directly into Rhodey's stomach. Squawking at the force of the ball that impacted his stomach, he collapses on the floor trying to breathe from how he had it coming. Walking over to help him up and take the ball, Deuce decided to throw several shots into the hoop to continue the conversation.

"Not saying it's a bad idea. But sometimes we have to do things that are either for the best or worst. I mean think about it, wasn't it better for us to handle Gigan and those witches so you and the ghouls can save Draculaura?"

Deuce asked that while he could have handled Gigan on his own along with the other witchcraft users. They handled it while he and the others went to rescue their friend, it left the lizard to grumble that it was true. Having backup allowed him to get to Draculaura and help her out, but bringing help was more concerning than helpful. Caesar chuckled at how it was difficult to explain to this Junior due to his upbringing.

"You might have to give him a chance to accept help. I mean my father had trouble with it when he was a guardian of a family and had no help until he learned what it means to fight with others than against. Just give him time."

The Shisha instructed Deuce that most Kaiju could handle things on their own whenever an issue came up. Though with things changing and not needing to handle everything alone, Junior had to figure it out one way or another. Yet they didn't know that he already had company to help him out, it was that he couldn't tell anyone was the issue. Just as things seemed to clear up and wanting to have a game, Junior felt a sudden feeling of danger of something coming at them.

"Does anyone hear a buzzing sound? Because I didn't see any insect people passing by."

Tusk asked the boys as there was a buzzing sound in the air they heard it coming from a bench which had a locust staring at them. Confused by the bug sneaking into the room, Deuce recognized how it was staring at him which made the gorgon scared.

"This is bad."

He muttered as suddenly rushing out of the vets was a swarm of locusts surrounding the room and swarming over the group. All except for Deuce who knew what was happening and was afraid about this coming from one person. Looking at the doors to see a gust of sand busting through and keeping the others at bay, Deuce saw coming in was none other than Cleo De Nile showing off her mummy powers and not in a good mood due to how she pushed the others from the gorgon.

"Deuce, Gorgon. You snake-haired jerk of a boyfriend!"

Cleo called out his name and slowly walked to him as each step made it sound just as threatening as the last. Especially how it was the first time any of the boys had seen this side of Cleo, Caesar has only seen it once but that was because of someone stealing her fashion style. This was more than just clothing stealing since she was her mummy's powers directly towards Deuce to intimidate him.

"Back in Boo York, you didn't break up with me because we didn't work. You did it for me so that I can be strong and not have anything weaken me, did you? Did you?!"

Demanding an answer from Deuce as the sand started to overflow the room and make it impossible for the others to escape. The gorgon could see that she had figured out the truth and wanted to know if it was true, it left Deuce to lower his head about how he thought he did it to help her.

"Yes. Because despite making you happy, I learn about what you'll be dealing with in the future once you become a queen. And I thought it be better if you were with someone who wasn't like me. The guy who messes around and doesn't take things seriously."

Deuce explained his reason for what he did back in Boo York and believed he wasn't good enough for her. Hearing that doubt in his tone and the honesty of how she could overpower him with the display she was showing everyone, it was the truth. This only enraged Cleo as she was prepared to let out all of the plagues on his head and inside the gymnasium. Junior felt like he should stop this but was unable to due to the amount of sadness that was keeping him buried, but Caesar wasn't afraid since he knew what going to happen next. Feeling the whole room and believing she was going swallow the room in the sand, Cleo did something unpredictable and hugged Deuce as a sign of affection which caused the locusts to leave the room and the sand to go away at the same time. The Gorgon was surprised at how she hugged him while also feeling her crying into his chest at what he had done to her

"And that's what I like about you, idiot. You make things fun and make things simple. Along with that, my family was all right with us dating."

Cleo assured him that while he believed he wasn't good enough for her, he was as well with her parents. He was shocked to hear it and how Cleo meant it along with not letting go, it left him but to hug her to show how sorry he had done and put her through. Feeling relaxed after letting out her pent up aggression, Cleo looks at him before giving Deuce a swift slap in the face for having used her mummy power on him.

"You can make it up by coming with me to get a facial and getting new clothes. As well as going out tonight."

Stating how he could make up for breaking her heart and how to patch things up as she wrapped her arms around Deuce's arms tightly before having him walk her outside. Leaving the others to dig themselves out of the sand, the gang was confused at what had happenedwhile Caesar was the only one that wasn't surprised by how Cleo ended the issue.

"Before anyone says anything. Ghouls are complicated, more or less that it's better not to question how they act when they learn something personal. My suggestion? We clean things up before Bloodgoid finds us and sends us to look after the sea creature that lives in the school's pool."

Ceasar advised them which made the others look around the gym and know that they'd get in trouble if they didn't get things cleaned. Realizing that and deciding to get things cleaned before anyone noticed, Junior could see that the ghouls he was dating might be just like Cleo. Powerful and full of surprises, especially when it comes to people who are important to them. It might not be a bad idea to see the trio in action, but that didn't mean he'd let them have all the fun. It only meant he should see how they could handle themselves so that none of his would-be rivals would get the better of him since they each had a bit of his power within them. The lizard boy would have to think about that another day and help clean the gym before they got detention or have anyone see them ruin the place.
