Prologue

Twenty years earlier…

The beach was calm and mostly empty except for the dark blue SeaWing that sat in the sand. He had a slightly lighter blue for his bioluminescent scales, webs, wings and fins. Even his under belly had the light blue! But startling yellow eyes looked out at the ocean. The lone prince sat there. Just waiting. How important was Prince Whale if he couldn't even find any dragon attractive!

He had made a deal with a MudWing, he didn't even know the reason himself, they would have a clutch of eggs, he would get the most blue egg while she kept the others in the Mudwing kingdom. He had no guarantee the other ones would be ok.

The familiar dull orange and brown scales of the MudWing he had made the deal with coming into view, a blue egg within her talons. Her name was Delta if he had remembered correctly. She was nice, it was a shame she was a MudWing though, she was very clearly nothing like the rest of her tribe! Well, at least to Whale's assumption and limited knowledge on her tribe.

"Brought you your dragonet," Delta said, landing on her hind legs and shoving the egg into Prince Whale's own talons. "The only egg I had, don't make me regret this Whale. If you're wondering about how I'm doing, it's none of your business kelp brain."

"Ouch, you wound me~" Prince Whale teased pulling their egg closer to his body, hugging his unborn dragonet as he couldn't wait to be a father. "I should get going now, I wish you the best of luck for the rest of your life, Delta!"

Delta took to the skies, leaving him alone once more. Just this time with a fragile egg in his webbed talons. He held it out to examine it. The shell was a nice deep blue like his own scales with swirls of a blood red.

Prince Whale also took off, he was going to have to stay in the summer palace. Hiding his little hybrid from not only his own tribe, but his queen, and coincidentally, his mother.

"I think I might call you Breakdown," he said, looking at his unborn dragonet with affection. "I would do anything to make sure nothing bad ever happens to you."

A beautiful red SilkWing had settled herself into her new home, where she lived with a handsome, green and gold SilkWing who adored her. The two were close friends, but by any means, not lovers. They had only been paired up to produce a dragonet or two for the likes of their queen, Queen Wasp.

"Rose, you know you can tell me what on your mind," the green SilkWing asked the the red SilkWing, his gold tipped, pale green wings with a grey circle pattern rested on the the dragon he called Rose. "You know I'm here for you, as long as we are together, I will listen to what you ask of me."

"I know, I know," Rose said, leaning into her friend's warmth. "I'm just worried about our young one here… You know I'll miss you Moth, right? I just don't want them to share my fate as well…"

Rose wasn't all too happy being used to only give Queen Wasp another flamesilk to torture. But of course, she couldn't disobey her queens orders. No matter how hard she tried. She had no escape from her personal hell created by the cruel queen. She would just have to pray to Clearsight to keep her dragonet safe…

"You know they'll be taking me back to cavern tonight…" Rose said, her voice cracking as she started to cry into Moth's pristine, pale green, arms. "We won't see each other again… will we..?"

"I sure hope we so see each other again Rose…" Moth replied, his voice was so calming. Rose knew she could listen to him talk for hours without getting bored. "Would you like to name our little one? So we can both share a bond with them? However little it may be, such as a name?"

"How about…" Rose paused to think, tears still running from eyes. She was still visibly upset about having to leave Moth, but she had enough strength to calm her voice down a bit. "Knockout, our little Knockout…"

"I like that…"

A couple months later…

"When you were seeing a MudWing?" Queen Coral asked, looking at her son who she forgot the name to. "And not only that, but had an egg with her?!"

"I-I thought that I could try to make you an heir…" the dark blue SeaWing prince said, cowering in fear of his queen and mother. "P-please don't kill him…"

"I'll let you keep it," Queen Coral said, holding the red and blue egg in her talons. "And I want it to join our army, I just hope its loyalty will be like that of the MudWings… I also request it to stay in the royal hatchery from now on, you understand?"

The scared prince nodded, taking the egg from his mother's talons and hugged the egg. He clearly loved the little creature, which was a good-ish thing.

"What was your name again?" Queen Coral asked, she had too many sons. But it was important for her to know this one's name in particular.

"Whale, Prince Whale," he responded, his egg still held close to his body. "I plan on naming the little one Breakdown, if you were wondering…"

"You should get the little thing to the hatchery," Queen Coral said, she was going to go back to writing. She really needed another heir since the death of Orca. "I expect you take care of the little one."

"Of course," Whale said, bowing before taking flight and diving into the water that sat at the bottom of the summer palace. Leaving with the egg tucked safely in her talons. He looked like Gill with his body type while his scales looked more like her own.

Prince Whale was just about to enter the hatchery. The hatcheries guard stopped him from entering. Spear pointed at his neck.

"State why you are here," the purple SeaWing demanded, flashing her scales to communicate. Her eyes narrowing onto him. "Don't want anyone bad getting into the hatchery…"

"Under orders of Queen Coral," Prince Whale started, the purple SeaWing's face shifted from protective and annoyed to shocked. "I am here to put my own egg into the royal hatchery, as is expected of me and direct orders of my mother, Queen Coral."

The SeaWing guard allowed him to enter the hatchery, bowing to the royal that was before them. Piercing blue eyes focused on the egg as he entered the hatchery.

Prince Whale was met with another guard who allowed him to enter with no trouble. Just giving him a respectful nod to the SeaWing prince.

The hatchery was a rounded dome that had warm water entering from the floor. Multiple pillar-like structures that had nests on top of them were in the room. Then there was the statue, a statue of his dead twin sister… she had made the statue herself. Blue gems that were meant to be eyes glittered with false life. He always felt like the statue was alive. It gave him the creeps, even if he rarely saw it. He truly did miss Orca, even if they were never that close.

He gently placed his egg onto one of the nests. He looked at the others. These were his siblings. He would protect them to the best of his ability. As long as he breathed, he would not let another one die in front of him.

"Is it okay if I join you in your shifts until my own dragonet hatches?" He asked the guard inside the hatchery. He gave a nod of approval. "Thank you, what may your name be?"

"The names Turtle," Turtle said, he seemed quite friendly. "What may your name be?"

"I am Prince Whale, but you may call me Whale," Whale said, smiling. "It's a pleasure to meet you Turtle. I hope we can be friends."

"I hope so too."

(Don't mind me creating three new SeaWings for this, and yes, I did make another green SeaWing named Turtle. But here's the catch! Prince Whale named Prince Turtle after the SeaWong Turtle after his death by the hands of Queen Coral. I also used my MudWing oc Delta.)
