"It wasn't my fault."

That's what Izuku kept telling himself repeatedly. That's what he told the cops, his father the neighbors, anyone who would listen. Not that they did anyway.

"Oh, what a terrible accident."

"I heard it was suicide."

"What seriously! Why would she do that? They seemed happy."

"Didn't you hear? The boy was quirkless."

"Oh, poor thing no wonder. If my son turned out to be quirkless I'd have done the same."

Izuku gritted his teeth as he stared at his house that was no longer his. His father had kicked him out saying,

"Your responsible for your mother's death, I never want to see you again!"

He could hear everyone talking, they didn't even bother trying to hide their hateful glances and words. He looked at the ground tears welling up in his eyes and he clenched his fists so tight they started to bleed.

"It wasn't my fault."

"It wasn't my fault."

"It wasn't my fault."

The tears were falling now from his jade eyes like raindrops falling from a forest canopy. He stood there crying with nowhere to go, no one to run to. He stood there all alone saying the same thing over and over again.

"It wasn't my fault."

"It wasn't my fault."

"It wasn't my fault.

The sun was shining, and the flowers were blooming in vibrant colors. The wind swept through the air in a cool breeze. It felt wrong. Why does the world look so beautiful when there is so much suffering? Why did everyone hate him so much? Why couldn't he be born with a power? Why, why, why.

"It wasn't my fault."

"It wasn't my fault."

"It wasn't my fault.

"Why doesn't anyone believe me?"

Izuku hugged himself hating the world hating everyone, hating himself. He cried wanting to disappear and leave, leave this world where everyone was so mean and cruel. Where nobody cared.

"I believe you."

Izuku stopped crying and looked up in surprise. There towering above him was a woman with long silky white hair like star light that seemed to glisten in the sun done up in a low bun that rested at the base of her neck. She wore a simple blue blouse that matched her sparkling blue-green eyes. Her ears were large that stuck out from under her hair revealing their sharp points. She looked in her late twenties to thirties and had a kind smile. She bent down so that her eyes matched up with Izuku's.

"I believe you." she said again.

Izuku stared up at her.

"W-who are you?" he said

She smiled at him. Her eyes twinkling,

"My name is Frieren. Would you like to come home with me?"

Izuku looked up at her in wonder and awe. She, she doesn't hate me. She believes me. She believes me.

"Yes please," he said in a quiet voice

Frieren stood up held out her hand and smiled

"Ok then, let's go."

And so, the elf and the human walked away in the sun. Izuku didn't think about the consequences of what would happen or the events that would take place. He didn't think about how his father hated him and friends hated him because he was quirkless he didn't think about any of it. As they walked hand in hand, all he thought about was how someone understood the pain and cared.
