Tommy walked into the law firm Laurel worked at looking for Laurel. He found her talking to Joanna. He walked up to them. "How long can CNRI keep their doors open" he heard Laurel ask.
"Depends. What time you got" he heard Joanna ask.
"I have fiesta time or is siesta time. Which one means a party and which one means a nap" Tommy asked.
Laurel looked at him surprised. "Tommy what are you doing here" she asked.
Tommy smiled at her and kissed her. "What a husband can't visit his wife at work" Tommy asked. He turned to Joanna. "Hello Joanna" he said politely.
She smiled at him. "Hello Tommy. How was your trip" she asked.
"Very relaxing and much needed for the both of us isn't that right Laurel" Tommy asked turning to his wife who was looking at the file in her hand. She looked up at him.
Someone called Joanna's name. "I have to go. It was nice seeing you again Tommy" she said.
"You too" Tommy said as she walked away.
"Not that I'm not happy to see babe, it's really not a good time right now" Laurel said walking away from Tommy.
"Well, of course not, working in this tiny brick office. It's intolerable. I thought you were taking the day off since we just got back" Tommy said following after Laurel.
"Well with what happened at the bank earlier I just thought I'd come in to the office and see if I can help in anyway" Laurel said as she arrived at the filing cabinet. She put the file into it and turned to Tommy. "What's going on" Laurel asked.
"I was wondering if you got what we talked about" Tommy said. Laurel took out another file and walked over to her desk. Realization hit Tommy. "Where's Becca" he asked.
"I called the babysitter. She's watching her until we get home" Laurel said.
Tommy nodded. "So about what we talked about earlier" Tommy said.
"CNRI just lost it's largest doner which means all of the hard work and sacrifices that I have made to help this legal clinic survive it may have been for nothing" she said.
"I'm sorry to hear that. I just thought that…" Tommy started to say but Laurel had had enough.
"I DON'T HAVE THE DAMN FILES" she yelled louder then she meant to. Her and Tommy both looked around embarrassed. She sat down at her desk. "I'm sorry that wasn't right. I'm just really stressed and I haven't had the time to look into the royal flush gang's connection to your father" she said.
Tommy nodded. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to stress you out" he said.
Laurel shook her head. "It's not your fault. I just have a lot on my mind" she said.
Tommy looked at her worriedly. "Are you sure everything's OK? You've been acting strange since before we left Africa" he said.
Laurel wanted to tell him about her possibly being pregnant but didn't know how. They agreed to wait to have more kids. She put on a fake smile and nodded. "I'm fine. I promise" she said.
"Maybe another time then" Tommy said. Laurel looked up at him as he left the office. She felt bad for how she had acted.
At the Queen Mansion, Thea and Oliver were walking towards the stairs. "I mean haven't you noticed she's acting a little down lately" Thea asked Oliver. Oliver shook his head. "What am I saying? Of course you haven't" Thea said.
"Well who are you to judge? Since when do you pay attention to how mom's feeling" Oliver asked as they started walking down the stairs.
"Since our step father suddenly decided to take a business trip halfway around the world" Thea answered.
"I think when someone at Walter's pay grade takes a business trip it's always sudden Thea. I wouldn't worry" Oliver said. Oliver stopped on the landing looking down at the person in front of him shocked. Felicity was standing in the entryway. "Felicity, what are you doing here" Oliver asked.
"I came to deliver this to you" she said holding up a briefcase.
"Ah. Guess who I just hung up with" Moira said walking into the room. She looked over at Felicity surprised. "Felicity, honey it's nice to see you" she said hugging her.
"You too" Felicity said.
"You were telling us who you just hung up with mom" Thea said.
"Oh right. Janice Bowen. Carter's mother" Moira said putting a vase of flowers on the table.
"Oh" Thea said.
"Oh, heh" Oliver said as him and Thea reached the bottom of the stairs. "Carter Bowen. The perfect son" Oliver said walking over to Felicity. "Hi" he said kissing her. She pulled back quickly. He looked at her and she looked away. Something was wrong with her and he thought he knew what it might be.
"Is he perfect" Moira asked.
Oliver looked over at his mother. "According to you. Carter Bowen just won the national chess championship. Carter Bowen is anchoring the debate team" Oliver said looking at Thea.
"I didn't make that big a fuss" Moira said.
"Oliver, Carter just got accepted into Harvard and Princeton" Thea said.
Moira looked away from her children shaking her head. Felicity just laughed. "Well that's because Carter just got a perfect score on his SATs" Oliver said.
"Now, how did he manage to study and cure cancer" Thea asked mockingly.
Oliver shrugged his shoulders and looked over at Felicity who just smiled at him. "All right, all right. I get it, I get it. Well, they're coming for brunch and I expect you to be there" Moira said to her children. She turned to Felicity. "You're invited too honey" she said.
Felicity smiled at her. "Thanks Moira" she said.
Oliver shook his head. "I have plans and I'm sure Felicity is busy" he said.
"That's fine. Brunch is tomorrow" Moira said.
Thea let out a little laugh. "Inches from a clean getaway" Thea said.
"Well you too Thea" Moira said looking at her daughter.
Oliver snapped his fingers and pointed at Thea. "Snap" he said.
"Nobody says that anymore" Thea said as Moira walked away.
"What" Oliver asked looking up at Felicity.
She nodded her head. "No one has ever said that" she said. Her and Thea started laughing. Oliver turned to his mother.
"Mom" Oliver called out. Moira stopped walking and turned around to look at her son. "I can't actually go" he said.
Moira looked at him unhappy. She walked over to him. "I haven't seen the Bowen's in years, so whatever it is that you have planned I'm sure the two of you can make the sacrifice just this once" she said to her children.
Oliver sighed. "I'll make sure he's there Moira" Felicity said.
Oliver looked over at her and shook his head. Moira looked at Felicity and smiled. "Thank you Felicity" she said. Oliver turned back to his mother.
"We'll be there" he said reluctantly.
Thea stood there annoyed about the whole situation. Moira smiled at her children and left the room. Oliver turned to Thea. "I hate you" she said.
"Mm-hm" Oliver said nodding his head as Thea left the room. Oliver walked over to Felicity. "You don't have to go. My mother will understand" he said.
Felicity shook her head. "I'll try to make it" she said. Something seemed off about her.
"Are you sure you're OK? You don't seem like yourself" Oliver said.
Felicity nodded. "I'm fine. I came over to drop this off" Felicity said putting the briefcase on the table.
"What is it" Oliver asked.
"Something for your guys protection. With all the criminals and the vigilante running around the city we can't be too safe" she said.
Oliver looked over at her pretending to be confused. "I thought you didn't think the vigilante was dangerous" he said.
"I don't know what I believe anymore" Felicity said looking away from Oliver. She couldn't get that night out of her head. The vigilante killed Leo Mueller in cold blood. Maybe her father was right about the vigilante. If she was right about Oliver being the vigilante that means he killed someone in cold blood. She didn't know how to deal with that. Oliver looked at Felicity and saw the sadness on her face. He knew by killing Leo Mueller in front of her he would probably lose her. He didn't want to but maybe it was for the best. She was better off without him.
"Felicity we have to…" Oliver started to say but he was interrupted when his phone started to ring. "Damn it" he said taking out his phone.
Felicity looked at him and shook her head. "That's OK. I have to go anyway" she said.
She started to walk away but Oliver grabbed her arm stopping her. "We have to talk" he said.
Felicity nodded. "I know" she said. They just stared at each other for a moment. "You should get that" she said nodding toward his phone which was still ringing. Oliver looked at her unsure. She kissed him on the cheek. "We'll talk later. I promise" she said leaving the mansion.
Oliver answered the phone watching her go. "This better be good" Oliver said.
"Scott Morgan from your father's list, he tried to kill himself. Maybe afraid of getting a visit from you. Can you make it to Starling General" Diggle asked over the phone.
"On my way" Oliver said. Oliver put his phone away. He took the briefcase Felicity left upstairs to his room.
Once Oliver was in his room he put the briefcase on the bed and opened it. Oliver saw a gun inside the briefcase. He picked it up and studied it. He recognized it as one of the acid guns Felicity had been working on. He put it back in the briefcase and closed the briefcase. He put the briefcase under his bed. He grabbed his jacket put it on and walked downstairs. When he got down there he saw Tommy and Thea talking. "Hey, just the man I wanted to see. I just picked up a new sports car. I was thinking, we can open her up, pick up a few speeding tickets just like the old days" Tommy said.
"When you guys were stupid teenagers. Come on Tommy, you're married with a child now" Thea said.
Tommy looked behind Oliver at Thea. "Well Laurel's working and the babysitter's watching Becca. I figured me and Oliver could hang out for a bit" he said.
"That sounds great but something's come up. I got to jet" Oliver said.
"Something serious" Tommy asked raising his eyebrows. Oliver looked behind him at Thea.
"Nothing I can't handle" Oliver said. He walked past Tommy and out the door.
"OK then. Nice talk thanks" Tommy said watching him leave.
"He moves fast doesn't he" Thea said.
"It's ironic since you're the one we call Speedy" Tommy said turning around to look at Thea.
"Ah, "Called, please. For the love of God but if you need somebody to talk to, I'm here" Thea said.
"You know, maybe you could help. Something's bothering Laurel and she won't tell me what it is" Tommy said.
Thea smiled at him. "Women troubles. Don't worry I'm an expert" she said.
Tommy let out a little laugh. "Right and I'm sure you have all the answers" he said.
Thea nodded. "Here's an idea, why don't you just ask her what's wrong" she asked. Tommy shook his head. "I already tried that. Like I said she won't tell me what's wrong" he said.
"Maybe you should just give her some space and let her come to you. She is one of the best lawyers in Starling City, a mother and a wife. That's all stressful especially with you as a husband" Thea said.
"Ha, ha very funny but I think you might be right. Maybe I should just let her come to me on her own time. I'm just worried about her" Tommy said.
"Of course I'm right and Laurel will be fine trust me. She's a strong woman" Thea said. Tommy knew what he had to do. He just had to give her space and let her come to him. Right now he had to focus on helping Oliver and Diggle take down the Royal flush gang. Him and Diggle just had to find a way to get Oliver to help take them down. Oliver was too obsessed with that list. Now that Tommy was part of the team he felt like he should have a little bit of a say in who they take down. How were going to convince Oliver though? He could be so stubborn sometimes. "Hello earth to Tommy" Thea said.
"Huh" Tommy said.
"You just zoned out" Thea said.
Tommy nodded. "I just have a lot on my mind" he said.
"I bet you do. You and Laurel will figure this out. You guys always do" Thea said.
Tommy smiled at her. "I know we will. Thanks for listening" he said walking to the front door.
"Love you" he said walking out. Thea smiled.
Oliver arrived outside the hospital on his motorcycle. He turned it off, got off the motorcycle, took off his helmet and unzipped his jacket. He walked up to where Diggle was standing waiting for him. "You sure? Scott Morgan doesn't seem like the type to try to kill himself" Oliver said walking up to where the paramedics were taking the stretcher with the body off the truck.
"True but it's the best lie O could come up with on short notice" Diggle said. Oliver looked at him.
A woman walked up to Diggle while Oliver continued to stare at Diggle mad about the deception. The woman shook Diggle's hand. "Mr. Diggle, I can't thank you enough for arranging to move my husband from county ward to Starling General" the woman said. Oliver looked at the woman. "Now I know he's getting the best care" the woman said.
"You should be thanking Oliver Queen. He's paying the bill" Diggle said. The woman looked at Oliver who just stood there not saying anything. "Jana's husband, Stan, is a police officer. He happened to have been making a deposit at Starling Trust" Diggle said.
"The bank that was robbed" Oliver said. Diggle nodded. Oliver turned to Jana. "I was so sorry to heat about your husband. Is he gonna be OK" Oliver asked.
"The next 24 hours are crucial. He should have just kept his head down, you know" she asked.
"I've known a few police officers in my day. Always willing to help others even if that means putting themselves at risk" Diggle said. Oliver looked over at Diggle.
Jana nodded. She looked at Oliver. "Thank you" she said.
Oliver turned to her and walked up to her. "You're welcome" he said. She smiled at him and left to go see her husband. Oliver turned to Diggle. "You lied to me" he said.
"You asked me to work with you, not for you. You said it was because you understand the man I am. I'm the man who doesn't walk away when there's a chance to make a difference and neither does Stan Washington" Diggle said. Oliver walked past Diggle without saying a word. "Oliver I'm not finished talking. Where are you going" Diggle asked turning around to look at Oliver.
"To go make a difference. Let's go catch some back robbers" Oliver said. Diggle smiled. His plan had worked. Oliver hated that Diggle lied to him but he had to admit maybe Diggle had a point. Maybe catching these bank robbers would make a difference in this city.
