Oliver Diggle and Tommy were in the lair looking at the video from the security cameras in the bank. "See that guy there? He's got a temper" Diggle said.
"He shot officer Washington" Oliver asked.
"That's right" Diggle said. Oliver started typing into the keyboard and the video paused. "College ring" Tommy said.
"Well high school more likely" Diggle said.
"That ring will get us an ID" Oliver said.
Diggle hit some keys on the keyboard and the image enhanced on the ring. It still wasn't clear enough to identify. "Yea but even with photo enhancement you're going to have a problem getting a clear shot of that ring" Diggle said.
"It left an impression police will have photographed. It will be in evidence lockup" Oliver said. Oliver got up and Diggle sat down in his seat. Oliver grabbed his suit.
"You're not going where I think you're going are you" Diggle asked.
"Diggle, why do you even ask" Oliver asked walking past Diggle and Tommy. They watched as he left the lair.
Across town, Oliver, dressed as the hood, opened a window that led into the police station and came in. A phone started ringing as Oliver slowly made his way through the precinct. "Are you kidding me? I don't wanna hear this" one of the cops, Hilton said. Oliver continued to sneak through the precinct. "Don't tell me about red tape. One of our own's been shot" Hilton said to the other officer. Hilton handed the other officer a clipboard. "Tell them to find themselves a pair of scissors" Hilton said to the other officer as they walked into the hallway. Neither one of them noticed Oliver who was hanging on the ceiling. Another officer left the room and Oliver quietly went over to a computer. Oliver put a jump drive in the server. He started typing in the keyboard. Oliver watched as the information he needed went from the computer into the jump drive. It reached 100%. Oliver pulled out the jump drive and left the precinct without anyone ever knowing he was there.
The next morning, Laurel walked into the office and was surprised to see Tommy standing next to Joanna. They looked up at her. "What are you doing here" Laurel asked her husband.
"Well, I was just telling Jo here that Smoakin' Lance tech is looking to expand it's philanthropy and I convinced Felicity that we could start by sponsoring a benefit for CNRI" Tommy explained.
"Thank you, Tommy but I think we can manage without Felicity's finances" Laurel said. Tommy studied Laurel. Something was definitely up with her.
"Laurel, a word" Joanna asked standing up and walking over to her friend.
"Heh, come on" she said pulling Laurel away.
"What are you doing" Joanna asked Laurel.
"He's not interested in throwing a fundraiser. He thinks I'm mad at him and helping me will get him to stop being mad at him" Laurel said.
"Who cares why he's doing it? We need the money" Joanna said. They looked over at Tommy who was standing there acting like he wasn't just watching them.
"Not like that, we don't. I don't want a hand out from my sister husband and sister" Laurel said.
"We really need the money. So you're gonna listen to your best friend's advice. You are gonna go over there and say "Thank you, Tommy. We'd be honored for you and Felicity to throw us a fundraiser" Hmm" Joanna said. They turned around and walked back over to where Tommy was standing. Tommy watched the two friends intently.
"Thank you, Tommy. We would be honored for you and Felicity to throw us a fundraiser" Laurel said unenthused.
Tommy smiled at her. "Great sounds like a plan. I'll just call…" He started to say but then his phone beeped. He took it out and looked at it and saw that it was a text from Oliver. Meet at the lair in an hour.
"Is everything OK" Laurel asked. Tommy put on a fake smile.
"Everything's fine. Got some business to take care of" he said walking over to his wife. He gave her a quick kiss. "Love you. See you at home with all the details" he said leaving the office quickly.
Tommy arrived at the lair and walked in to find to find Oliver and Diggle looking at one of the computers. "What's up" Tommy asked.
"We were just looking at the photos I got from the precinct last night" Oliver said. Tommy looked at the screen and saw a guy with a bruised face on the screen. "The bank manager Ace punched. His ring left a mark" Oliver said. The screen zoomed in on the indent in the bank manger's face. A name of a school came up. Larchmont high school. "Larchmont high" Oliver read. He looked over at Diggle and Tommy. "High school" he said. "I cross-referenced his height and age with the students and alumni" Oliver said.
"That's a pretty long list" Diggle said.
Tommy nodded. "It'll take us forever to go through the whole list" he said.
"It would have but I dug deeper and found Kyle Reston. Before Kyle's senior year, not only did he drop out he dropped off the grid, along with his family. Father, Mother, younger brother" Oliver said.
"There are two other guys involved in this robbery" Tommy said.
"A woman also. Aside from Stan Washington there were 22 customers and employees that came. Nine men, 13 women. Inside the bank, nine men, 14 women" Oliver said.
"Heh, they put a ringer in" Diggle said.
"The mom" Tommy said. Diggle looked at him and nodded.
"The police look for a crew, we look for family. Speaking of which, I'm incredibly late for mine" Oliver said standing up.
"Yea and I should get going too. I have a fundraiser to plan" Tommy said.
Diggle nodded to the both of them. "I'll see what I can find out" he said.
"Keep us posted" Oliver said.
"Hey Oliver so what's going on with your family that you're late for" Tommy asked as they walked out of the lair.
Oliver sighed. "Lunch with my family and the Bowens" Oliver answered.
Tommy shook his head. "Well good luck man. I know it can't be fun to sit at lunch and hear about how great Carter Bowen is" he said. Oliver nodded and they went their sperate ways.
At the Queen mansion, Moira was talking to Janice Bowen. "Well, I'm sorry Walter couldn't join us" Janice said to Moira.
"Oh, yes. Well, the Australian trip came up suddenly. He sends his apologies" Moira said walking over to where Thea and Felicity were standing with Carter.
"Where's Oliver? He's not out of town too, is he" Carter asked.
"I'm sure he's…" Felicity started to say but was interrupted when Oliver walked into the room.
"Stuck in traffic. One of the things I didn't miss on the island. Sunday drivers" Oliver said turning to his mother. "Sorry I'm late" he said kissing her on the cheek. He hugged Thea.
"Thank god you're here" Thea whispered to her brother.
He turned to Felicity and smiled at her. "Hi" he said kissing her. He wrapped and arm around her waist and turned to Carter and Janice. Carter watched whole exchange intently.
Janice walked up and hugged him. "It's so good to see you. We all thought you…" she started to say.
"Oh well we are just happy he's home" Moira said.
"Returning a celebrity too" Carter said holding out his hand for Oliver to shake.
Oliver shook it and looked at him confused. "How do you mean" Oliver asked.
"Well billionaire scion. Castaway for five years and not to mention dating the youngest CEO in Starling City. Also the prettiest if you don't mind me saying" Carter said as everyone sat down. Felicity laughed and blushed. Oliver glared at Carter. He knew he didn't like this guy already and know he was hitting on Felicity. "There's a bidding war for the rights to your life story at least that's what my agent said" Carter said.
"Agent? I thought you were a neurosurgeon Carter" Oliver said.
"I know. It's crazy, right? One minute I'm publishing this book on how long-term potentiation initiates the creation of a slow-moving protein synthesis and then next, there's an agent trying to make me the next Dr. OZ, heh" Carter said.
"Why would he want you to be a wizard" Oliver asked. They all chuckled.
"Oliver" Moira said laughing.
Felicity leaned in. "Dr. OZ is an actual doctor" she said. Oliver looked at her confused. "I'll explain later" she said rubbing his arm comfortingly.
"For our sakes, start reading US Weekly" Thea said. Oliver looked over at his mother who nodded at him.
"Well, the truth is, I feel it's our duty as Starling City's more fortunate to help those most in need" Carter said.
"Oh, of course" Moira said.
"Do you agree, Oliver" Carter asked turning to look at Oliver.
"You're the hero, Carter" Oliver responded.
"Now that you're back, what are your plans? Will you be taking a job with Queen Consolidated" Janice asked Oliver.
"I'm opening a nightclub" Oliver said. Thea chuckled. Moira just stared at her son.
"Sir, your liquor distributor's on the line" Diggle said walking up to Oliver. He leaned in close to Oliver. Felicity watched the interaction carefully. "First Bank of Starling was hit two minutes ago" Diggle whispered to Oliver.
"Sorry" Oliver said getting up.
"Wait" Felicity said grabbing Oliver's arm.
"Where are you going" she asked.
Oliver looked at everyone staring at him. He smiled at Felicity. "Something's come up" he said. He kissed her making sure Carter was watching. Without him noticing Felicity placed something on the lapel of his blazer. "I'll call you later" he said walking out of the room. Diggle was waiting for him.
"If their M.O. holds, they made their escape underground. First Bank of Starling is located above water tunnels. The entrance is located here" Diggle said handing Oliver a phone. Moira walked up to them.
"Oliver, where are you going" Moira asked.
"Something's come up. I'm really sorry" Oliver said walking out of the house. Felicity had been listening with the microphone she stuck on the lapel of Oliver's blazer when he kissed her. She didn't know if he was the vigilante anymore but she thought he might be working with the vigilante. They talked about the tunnels under the First Bank of Starling. That's where she had to go.
In the tunnels, there was a shoot out happening between the cops and the Royal flush gang. Oliver, dressed as the hood slid on the floor and shot an arrow at the bag one of the men was holding and it flew out of their hand and ropes appeared around it. The man, Ace, turned his attention to shooting at Oliver. Oliver ran up onto one of the pipes and shot an arrow at Ace. He grunted as the arrow hit the gun in his hand and it flew out of his hands. Oliver jumped off the pipes while Ace ran away. The other men were still shooting. Oliver ran away from the gunshots. "Get out of here" one of the other men King said. Oliver shot another arrow at the bag and more ropes appeared around it.
"Our cash" another man Jack said.
"Forget it" King said. They tried to untie the ropes but it was no use.
"Go. Go" one of the men yelled.
"All right, let's move" the head officer Hilton said to the other cops. More cops walked into the room behind Oliver.
"It's the vigilante" one of the cops yelled. Oliver turned around and shot an arrow at a control panel. The lights went out and Oliver snuck out. The royal flush gang ran deeper in the tunnels.
"Come on" Ace said. The cops followed after them unaware of Oliver hiding above them behind some pipes. After they were all gone Oliver jumped down. Oliver heard footsteps behind him and loaded an arrow into his bow and turned around. He was shocked to see Felicity standing there with her hands up. Felicity looked at the vigilante worried. She didn't know what he was going to do. Maybe this was a bad idea. The vigilante lowered his bow and Felicity let out a sigh of relief. The vigilante turned to leave.
"Wait" Felicity called out. Oliver stopped. "Please I just want to talk" Felicity said slowly walking over to the vigilante. Oliver slowly turned around. "I just…I just wanted to say thank you. You've saved my life more then once and I just wanted you to know I appreciate it" Felicity said. Oliver nodded his head. Felicity reached him. "Why is it that I feel comfortable around you? I saw you kill a man in cold blood right in front of me but I still feel comfortable around you" she said. Oliver thought that would turn Felicity away from the vigilante but apparently it hadn't.
"I'm sorry you had to see that" Oliver said in his modulated voice. Felicity turned away from him.
"I know I shouldn't but I feel safe here with you. Can I trust you" she asked softly.
Oliver hated seeing Felicity like this. So unsure and not knowing what she could trust. This was his fault. Despite his better judgement, Oliver reached up and touched her face comfortingly. Felicity looked up at him shocked. "I promise I will never let anything happen to you and yes you can trust me Felicity" Oliver said in his modulated voice. Felicity touched his hand and smiled at him. That warmed his heart to see. Unbeknownst to them, Sara was hiding in a corner and taking pictures of them. Felicity was going down a dangerous road and she wasn't going to let this masked vigilante hurt her. He was good though but that didn't matter to Sara because so was she and she was going to take him down whoever he was.
