Summary: Lily couldn't take it anymore to see her youngest son being treated so badly. She decided enough was enough and flees the wizarding world with young Harry. There she meets an old friend and discovered something from her parents rather shocking to say the least.

-Potter Manor, 1985-
"Ungrateful squib! I told you not to disturb your brother!" James Potter snapped.
He grabbed his young five-year-old son's tiny hand and dragged him to the end of the hallway.
James opened a door to the smallest bedroom and threw his son inside. He glared, "Should've left you in a muggle orphanage… you're a disgrace to the Noble House of Potter."
Harry rubbed his eyes, "No daddy, please! I-I just wanna play with Al! Please!"
James looked down at his son and slapped him.
"Don't you speak to me in such a tone, squib!"
"I'm – I'm sorry da – ah!"
Harry screamed, seeing his father was about to strike him again. He closed his eyes to the upcoming hit, but it never came.
The child slowly opened his eyes to see his mother, Lily Potter née Evans, holding his father's hand.
"Mommy…"
Lily pushed her husband and rushed over to her frightened son. She embraced him before glaring at James.
"How dare you strike an innocent child – our child!"
"That filth isn't my son!" James snapped, "There hasn't been a Potter that was a useless squib!"
"And here I thought you were different from the other purebloods," murmured Lily, sadly.
"I… I can't take it anymore James! I will not stand it any longer!" She starts to sob, "You've changed… whatever happened to the loving man that I married? What happened to the caring man who'd play with his sons – together?!"
"Lily," James sighed, softly, "Remember what Albus said. Alex is the one that vanished Voldemort."
"So, that's your excuse for mistreating Harry horribly," snapped Lily as she held her son, dearly.
She bit her lip, "Why can't you just care Harry like before?"
"That squib doesn't belong here," sneer James.
"He's better off – your sister! Merlin, we can hand him to your muggle sister! That way he won't disgrace my family's name!"
Lily gasped.
She can't believe what her husband was suggesting; to leave her sweet, caring, and loving son with her older sister that she hasn't talked to since her marriage?
Not only that, but Petunia also married a horrible muggle named Vernon Dursley.
"No, you can't James! They're going to be horrible to Harry!"
"No, they're not. He'll fit right in," James smiled, "With him out of the way, we can give all the attention and love Alex needs. Albus warned us that Voldemort is still out there and one day that bastard will come back. Please understand that I cannot – we cannot show any weakness to the wizarding world."
Lily frowned before setting Harry down.
She then faced her husband, "How do you know that Harry is a squib? Each time there is any 'accidental magic,' Harry and Alex were together."
James glared down at his son who was holding Lily's legs.
He snorted, "I know for a fact that he doesn't have any magic. If the wizarding world finds out that the savior has a squib brother – no one will give him the respect he deserves!"
Lily frowned, "Forgive me, but… I don't give a rat's ass about your pureblood status!"
She picked up Harry once again and headed out of the room. She turned her head to her uncaring husband.
"I'm going to the kitchen with Harry since he did 'miss' lunch."
James scratched his head, "Um sure, whatever. When you're done with the squib, meet me outside. I'm taking Alex on a little joy ride. Later we can discuss leaving the squib with your sister to Albus."
Lily didn't say anything and walked away from the man she once loved.
Instead of going downstairs, she headed to the master bedroom.
Harry tilted his head, "Where are we going mommy? This isn't the way to the kitchen."
"Because… we're going to pay someone a visit," replied Lily.
She holds her child, tightly, 'You're not going to suffer any longer…even if it means disappearing from the wizarding world – together!'
-Evans' Residence, 9:30 pm-
Rose Evans née Petal was about to go to bed when she heard a knock on the door. Tilting her head, the elderly woman heads toward the door.
'Now, who would be knocking at this hour?'
She opened the door to see her daughter and one of her grandsons standing at the doorway.
She gasped, "Lily, sweetheart, what are you doing here?"
Lily sighed, "May we come in mum? There's… something I need to tell you."
Rose frowned, not liking the tone her daughter was using.
She nodded, allowing the two to enter. That's when she noticed her daughter's eyes were slightly red and a bit puffy while asleep Harry had a slight bruise on his left cheek.
"What happened to the two of you? Did… Did…"
"I'll explain everything. Just let me put Harry to bed first," said Lily.
"Alright, I'll go make some tea," said Rose, closing the door.
Lily went to the guest room where the twins would normally sleep when they came over for a visit. She tucked Harry in and placed an alarm charm in case Harry wakes up before heading back to the kitchen.
The redhead took a sit at the dinner table as her mother placed a cup in front of her.
Rose sat across from her daughter, holding her cup.
"Now, tell me dear, what happen? Did you have a… a fight with James? And what happened to little Harry's cheek?"
Lily looked down at her cup before taking a deep breath and slowly explained to her mother what has happened over the past four years.
"I couldn't stand seeing Harry being mistreated while Alex gets everything. I know it was wrong for me to leave Alex behind, but James would have Aurors after me if I did."
Rose placed her hand on top of her daughter's.
"What you did… it was a tough decision, but what's done is done," she got up and walked over to Lily, "Come on, it's getting late. Let's discuss this with your father in the morning."
Lily nodded, slowly and the two women headed off to bed.
-Park, a week later-
Lily was reading a book, relaxing before looking over at the swings to see her son with a little blond boy sitting next to him.
She smiled warmly at seeing her son smile once again.
The redhead sighed heavily before closing the book and leaned back on the bench. She slowly recalled what her father had said about James.
"That low life, selfish bastard! How dare he treat my youngest grandson like that! I was damn right about that fool! I'm glad that you dump him sweetheart!"
"Harold please, calm down!"
"Oh, I will – when I knock some sense to that bastard! Lily, you're welcome to stay here as long as you need. Forget about that low life asshole and focus on Harry."
Lily shook off her thoughts before getting up and walked over to the swing set. She was about to call Harry when she saw someone that she thought she would never see again.
"Severus?"
A tall man with greasy, black hair, a hook nose and a slight pale skin turned around with an annoyed expression.
His eyes widened, "L-Lily?! Wha – What are you doing here? I – I mean… hello."
Lily giggled, "Same old Sev. And to answer your question, I'm staying over at my parents for a while with Harry."
"I see," murmured Severus.
He looked around and frowned, "So, where's Potter and Alexander?"
Lily's happiness turned to sadness before looking down at the ground.
"James… he… he's not the same man that I married. Since the attack on Halloween, James and Albus believed it was Alex who vanquished Voldemort and is the chosen one. Harry, however, James says that Harry is a squib and – and would hit him for no reason!"
Severus pinched his nose, "Potter's stupidity continues to grow. How's Harry? Do you want me to give him a medical exam?"
Lily smiled, "Thank you, but there's no need to worry about him. The bruises have completely healed."
Then she let out a small giggle, "You know, he's like a mini me. Harry loves to help around the house and the garden. He would try to read any books his little hands could get a hold of."
Severus smirked, "Looks like Harry has more of your genes than Potter's."
"To be honest, I'm glad as well," said Lily.
That's when she felt small arms wrap around her legs. She looked down and smiled, "Harry, who's this? A new friend?"
Harry smiled, "That's right, mommy. This is Draco."
"Hello Harry's mommy, nice to meet ya!" Draco said, happily.
That's when he spotted Severus, "Uncle Sev! Look, I made a new friend, and he knows about magic too!"
"Indeed, dragon and yes, your new friend knows about magic because he's a wizard like his mother," informed Severus, softly.
"Really?" Draco turned to Harry, "What was your first magic?"
While Harry was thinking, Lily looked at Severus, confused.
"I didn't know you had a nephew. Is he from your mother's side?"
Severus shook his head, "Draco is my godson. His father, Lucius, was an old friend of mine back at Hogwarts. He was in his last year while we were in are first year. He was like an older brother to me."
"Lucius Malfoy? Wasn't he sent to Azkaban for being a Death Eater?" Lily asked.
Severus nodded, "Correct. Two years ago, Aurors stormed into Malfoy Manor. Lucius fought but was outmatched by Potter and Black while Narcissa was hit by a stray spell, placing her in a coma. Draco was safe in his room with a house elf."
"I see. So, he's staying with you for the time being?" Lily asked.
"That's right," replied Severus. "Since I'm his godfather, the guardianship lands on me until either of his parents are deemed worthy to raise the child."
That's when Harry responded to Draco's question.
"My brother wanted a cookie, so I tried to get him one – and it worked!"
"Yay! I love sweets," cheered Draco, happily.
"His first accidental magic was summoning a sweet to his twin," said Severus.
Lily gasped.
"What is it, Lily?" Severus asked.
"I remember that day! Albus, Sirius and Remus came over for a visit. Remus brought some chocolate chip cookies for the boys, but unfortunately, they hadn't eaten dinner yet. So, I placed the sweets somewhere high and cast a barrier charm around the plate just in case. Not long after, we heard a crash and ran to the kitchen to see the plate broken and cookies on the floor. Harry looked tired while Alex was eating a cookie."
Severus widened his eyes, "Harry was able to break through your charm spell?!"
Lily nodded before looking down, sadly, "But James and Albus thought it was Alex who did it."
"Those two," murmured Severus, shaking his head. "Looks like Harry is the real prophecy child… what are you going to do?"
Lily was about to reply when she felt a tug. She looked down, "Yes, sweetheart?"
"Can Draco and his uncle come over for dinner?" Harry asked.
Lily smiled at her son's kindness before looking over at Severus.
"Well, what do you say Sev? Would you and Draco like to come over for dinner at my parent's house?"
Severus looked down to see his godson giving him the puppy-eyes.
He sighed in defeat, "I believe it would be possible. I hate to admit it, but I did miss your mother's cooking. What do you say dragon? Do you want to eat at your new friend's house?"
Draco smiled, "Oh yes, please!"
"Very well. Lead the way Lily," said Severus.
While Harry and Draco cheered, Severus and Lily just shook their heads.
-Evans' Residents, 6:30pm-
"Oh, Severus! It's wonderful to see you again," said Rose, happily. "Where have you been all this time? What have you been doing?"
"It's a pleasure to see you again, Mrs. Evans," said Severus, honestly.
"Oh Sev, I gave you permission to call me mum when your mother passed away," said Rose. She then looked down to see a young blond child next to her surrogate son.
"Now, who is this lovely young man?"
"This is my godson, Draco Malfoy," introduced Severus.
"Hello, it's nice to meet you madam," greeted Draco, politely and offered his small hand.
Rose giggled and shook Draco's hand.
"Aw, what a gentleman. Please call me grandma, Draco."
The small pale boy grinned since he never met his biological grandparents. He finally had someone to call grandma.
"Grandma, can we play a bit before dinner?" Harry asked.
"Of course, dear," replied Rose.
Harry grinned before turning to Draco, "Let me show you some of my games here in the muggle world Dray."
The pale boy smiled and followed his new friend upstairs.
Rose smirked before grabbing Lily and Severus' hands.
"Well, Harold will be coming soon, and it's been a while since my special helpers helped me… so – hop to it!"
Lily and Severus blushed, remembering the times when they were younger that they would help Rose in the kitchen.
Rose would invite Severus' mother, Eileen, to escape from Tobias' abuse.
Half an hour later, Harold came back from work, giving Severus a warm welcome.
Lily had set the table, having the boys sit next to each other while she sat next to Severus and her parents took the ends of the table.
That's when Rose called the boys to come down for dinner.
During dinner, Harold asked Severus questions about what he has been doing since graduating from Hogwarts.
Severus replied saying that he got his mastery in Potions at the young age of 24 and was planning to open his own Apothecary when he was told to become a spy during the first war.
"Well, I'm relieved to know you're alive and well," said Harold.
"So was I," Severus sighed, "But I was close getting the dark mark."
Lily's eyes widened, "Albus never mentioned that you were almost marked! How in Merlin's name did you not get it?"
"On Halloween, I was supposed to be marked when Riddle returned from Godric's Hollow," replied Severus. "But it would seem that luck was on my side that night."
Rose and Harold sighed in relief.
Lily was grateful that her dearest friend wouldn't bare the curse of having the mark and to be accused of being a Death Eater.
After dinner, Severus picked Draco up and headed to the door, saying farewell to his surrogate family. That's when Draco started shaking his head, which caught Severus' attention.
"Uncle Sev, I don't wanna leave. Can't we stay… a bit longer, please?"
Severus was about to protest as he didn't want to encounter any of those drunken teens around his neighborhood when Rose stepped in.
"There's plenty of room Severus. You can sleep in the second guestroom. Lily can change one of the twins' beds into an adult one. And Harold could bring down the sleeping bags for the boys and they can sleep in the living room."
"Yay! It's like camping!" Harry said, happily.
"Camping? Is that a muggle thing?" Draco asked.
Harry nodded, "It's a lot of fun! Maybe you can come the next time grandpa takes me."
Draco's eyes brightened and turned to his godfather.
"Oh, please Uncle Sev! Can't we stay for just one night, please?"
Severus pinched his nose, "Alright, it looks like I've been out voted… plus, where I live, it's not the best place for children."
Rose clapped her hands, "Wonderful! Harold, get the sleeping bags from the attic."
"Of course," Harold looked at the children, "Oh boys, would you mind helping an old man? If you do, you get a special reward."
Harry's eyes shined, "Oh! Is it ice cream, grandpa? Can it be chocolate?"
"Chocolate?" Draco looked around in excitement, "Where?"
Harold laughed, "You'll get it if you help me find the sleeping bags."
"Come on Dray, the attic is this way!" Harry said, dashing upstairs.
Draco grinned, following his friend upstairs.
Harold and Severus shook their heads while Rose and Lily giggled.
Not an hour had passed before Rose, Lily and Severus heard screaming coming from the attic.
All dashed upstairs to find Harold on the floor and the boys were surrounded by a white light.
"Harry!" Lily shouted, running to her son.
"Lily, wait!" Severus said as he went after her.
As the two got close, the white light went straight to them. All four were engulfed by the white light for a few moments, then the light dimmed down.
Lily and Severus were on their knees while the children were lying on the floor, unconscious.
The redhead was slightly lightheaded before she slowly got up and went to her unconscious child while Severus went to his godson.
They checked on them to make sure they were all right.
Rose and Harold stared in shock but shook it off and went over to them.
"Lily, dear, are you – oh my!" Rose pointed at Harry's hair, "Did Harry had that strand of blond hair before?"
Lily looked at her mother with confusion before glancing down at her son. And sure enough, there was a strand of blond hair on his right side.
"It's not just Harry. Draco has a strand of black hair on his left," said Severus, showing his godson's hair.
"What just happen, Sev? What was that light about?" Lily asked.
"I have no clue Lily," Severus got up, holding Draco, "Best we take them to St. Mungo's."
Lily nodded but just as she got up, Harold stood in front of them with a serious look on his face.
The redhead frowned, "What's wrong, dad?"
"I… know someone that can explain to you on what just happen," said Harold. He looked guilty, "Please forgive me for not telling you sooner."
"Dad?" Lily asked.
Harold sighed, "Place the boys in bed, then join us at the living room."
Lily nodded and took Severus to the second guestroom. They placed the boys in the beds before going back to the living room.
Harold was sitting near the fireplace while Rose was sitting on the couch and holding on to a cup of tea.
"Alright, what's going on, dad?" Lily asked.
She took a sit on the couch across from her mother.
Severus sat next to her while Harold went over and sat next to his wife.
Harold sighed, "I… have a brother who lives in Salem. He's a Healer and a Charms Professor at Salem University."
Lily and Severus widened their eyes in disbelief.
"I have an oversea relative – who's a wizard?!" Lily said in shock. She then frowned, "Why are you telling me this now, dad?"
Harold sighed, Your sister. I didn't want her to feel more left out if she found out that there was another magical relative."
"I see," murmured Lily.
"Salem University," murmured Severus before widening his eyes, "He works at the most exclusive oversea wizarding school?! How is that possible?"
"It's best if he tells you," Harold said. "I'll owl him on what happened. I'll get a return owl within a few days."
Lily nodded, "We can wait, but at least tell me more about this mysterious uncle?"
Harold started telling them about his brother and Evans' history. It turns out that their family originally came from Salem and were purebloods.
Within days, Harold's brother replied, requesting Lily and Severus to come to America.
