Chapter 14 – Decisions

We stay like that, in each other's arms, for a long time.

Edythe POV

"Edy?"

"Hmm?"

"Not that I'm upset, but how did you get pregnant if vampires can't procreate?"

I tilted my head up to look at him. My body was snuggled against him and his hand was stroking my hair continuously. I sighed. "Honestly, I don't know. Vampire bodies are frozen in time so it'd be impossible for a female vampire to conceive a child and let it grow in her womb. The only thing I can get out of all this is that perhaps it's because of my dual nature."

"Well, I've never been gladder about your abilities, sweetheart. I would never have thought of it possible, given all the biological rules I know about procreation.

I laughed out loud at his tone of amazement and disbelief. But then I again turned sober as I told him something which had been plaguing my mind for a long time – a request of his that he had made a few weeks back.

"Beau, I think it would be alright… if you went to see your sister now."

"It would?" He asked, his voice sceptical.

I nodded. "Yes. But when I tell see her, it means only see her. Not let her see you or make any contact with you."

"That would be enough. I just want to know how she's doing."

"Then perhaps we could go to Forks on New Year's Day, hang out near Seattle or Olympia for a week and then find a place of our own?"

"Find a place of our own? That sounds nice," He murmured as his lips found my own. God, how heavenly his lips tasted!

"Have I told you how much I love you?" He asked, his voice husky and his eyes darkening.

"A few thousand times, I believe," I giggled as his fingers tickled my abdomen.

"I love you so much, my fiancée," he said and the rest is history.
