Chapter 25: The Bloody Rivalry
After Seed informs Lars about the current ordeal regarding about shooting Lene with the bow gun used by Darius. Knowing the war still continues and Adelbert wants to eliminate both Lene and Lars in order to solidify Doug as their current king. Everyone is ready to battle against most of the enemies' unit while Adelbert is taking the lead.
As more soldiers are preparing to battle Adelbert and his group, both Sean, Agatha and Damian see that they are ready while Renzo and Rena had looked on to watch.
"So what's the plan... The princess is with us. How come a dead man would decided to fight against that classless oaf?" Damian said and Sean responds in a serious tone.
"Red head knows what he's gonna do. One of them had already attempted to shoot Lene and now he's in a fury."
"According to Lord Tougou that Seed is gonna confront Adelbert so that the princess and the rest are not gonna move before they do." Agatha said telling them.
On the war games, all the units are ready to fight as Tougou informs Lene not to move unnecessarily. Seed personally confronts Adelbert who is now seen in his stitch-together appearance which was hinted that he was resurrected by using rituals.
"So we meet again, you red-headed rabble! That spell you casts upon me really annihilate me! Now I have my revenge on you!"
"You dare to speak to me, you giant scarred sasquatch! You're the one who started for attempting to kill Lene in the first place on the behest of that shitty old fool!" Seed horribly remarks on Adelbert which furiously angers the latter.
"Why YOU!"
Seed and his unit manage to lure Adelbert's army which they give them chase. Once he arrives at the spot where Lene and the others are there, he gave Tougou the signal.
"All right, give the signal. Your highness, your current target is Adelbert."
As the group begins to attack Adelbert and his unit as Asher is able to summon machines using catapult that can throw boulders over the enemy as well as bombarding the enemy frontlines. Adelbert was impressed to see this ambush.
"So this is the reformed Higheast Army. You really underestimated me. Now come on, show me what you got!"
This war battle became an equal but brutal match until the arrival of Darius, Craig and Yuber.
"We came so late, Adelbert."
"What took you so long?"
"There's some trouble going on in Silveria and the Rune that our king Doug has suffered some side effects." Darius said informing him.
"We had no other choice, we must assist him right away." Craig said telling him as the battle continues.
They manage to take down some of Craig and Darius units as Lene attacks Adelbert's unit. Therefore, Seed assisted her to battle Adelbert and ultimately struck his unit.
"Gaah!"
"That is enough, Adelbert. Your time is up!" Tougou said telling him which he grunts with a malicious evil smile on his face.
"You really think I would be defeated with the likes of you. Especially for that red headed asshole..."
Suddenly, trap sprung into the group which Seed protects Lene as most of their units being damaged by Adelbert which he confronts them.
"Dear princess, I really love to get your head. For my King!"
As Adelbert and his group leave, Seed stands up and seeing all of the soldiers from their respective units are badly hurt and he angrily clenches his fist and seeing that Adelbert wants Lene's head.
Back at the Higheast Palace, Lars was glad that his daughter is safe after the trap set up by Adelbert in the war battles and both Tougou and Seed knows how capable he is in the war battles.
"I'm gonna confront Adelbert, your majesty. Lene has to be safe inside the palace."
"I understand your concern, Seed. I think it's about time to set up a night raid for Adelbert. We're gonna place our armies at the outskirts of Higheast City. Once Adelbert appears, we're going to close most of the exits. Then, we'll attack Adelbert with your unit since you have more battle experiences than we do." Lars said letting Seed's group to battle Adelbert. You're the only person who can stop him."
"Of course, your majesty."
"Now you need some accompany to help you beat Adelbert. Then, let's give the members of both Unit 1 and Unit 2." Lars said and Seed looked to see it was both Sean and Damian.
"Mockingbird, you're the second unit?" Seed wondered in a dopey look which Sean shrugs off his actions.
"We can't let this moron go to waste, red head. We're gonna help you out."
As they are ready to deploy the group at the outskirts of Higheast City, Lene looked on to see the view of the city as Seed visits her.
"So you're gonna fight Adelbert, Seed."
"Listen, Lene... I can't let Adelbert to get your head. You need to be safe in here." Seed said telling her to be safe.
"Of course..."
The two of them give each other a romantic hug knowing his love for the princess and decided to leave. He was watched by Asher who had sensed Adelbert's bloody aura.
"I know you're gonna fight Adelbert, you time-displacement man."
"What's with you, old man?"
"You had seen Adelbert's appearance on the war battles earlier, right. It appears that he is now a living dead man just like you."
"Can't you at least stop remarking about ME being a dead man?!" Seed reacted angrily as Asher reveals to him.
"It seems that Adelbert was revived by a ritual made by the power of the Titanus Rune."
"What!?"
"I'd be honest with you, your final spell from your Flowing Rune is really deadly and blasting him out with a powerful tsunami. That kills him on the spot." Asher said confirming of what Seed uses which he pointed out his temper. "Your temperament lies on your offensive power of your Flowing Rune and the reason you keep protecting the princess from any forms of danger."
Seed looked on his Flowing Rune and knowing how strong he had became and realizing that he had already slayed Adelbert after he recently kills Sigurd who shielded Lene to protect her before she resurrects him with the powers of her Divine Dagger Rune.
"I don't want that bastard take his filthy hands on Lene. I already endured all this when they are trying to humiliate her or getting herself killed. Maybe that was my own lacking when I became the 3rd General of the Highland Army. I keep showing my arrogance and getting so pissed and confident to fight my enemies just because I'm an offensive person." Seed said realizing about his true lacking on his time and now he learns of why he keeps protecting Lene most of the time because of his other actions and finally shows his resolve to battle Adelbert. "I can be vicious and offensive, old man. I need to understand more of my enemies' recklessness."
"No need to worry, Seed." Asher said while reloading his shotgun and decided to assist him to battle Adelbert. "I know that classless oaf is a tough guy. But you need to keep that in mind, cause Adelbert's resurrection is temporary. Their current king, Doug Ashitare had been suffering from the Rune he currently possesses."
"..."
"My ancestor would be proud if I would gladly to become your assistance."
Seed happily nods on his remark knowing of his best friend Culgan is Asher's ancestor and decided to allow Asher to accompany him. He then looked to see both Sean and Damian and knowing they are ready to battle.
"So, red head... are you ready for this?"
"I hate to act so arrogant, mockingbird. Cause Adelbert is already a dead man like me." Seed said jokily over him and he seriously tells them in a brash tone. "We have to deploy now!"
"He's demanding..." Damian remarked which Sean angrily scolds at him.
"Don't be stupid, Damian. Seed has a lot of battle experiences than we do. I understand his current reputation. Since he knows our secrets, he really like us to be trained to become powerful mercenaries just like the army he has with him."
"Right..."
"Don't make any mistakes, Damian... You know about Adelbert's offensive range." Seed said while telling Damian not to make any mistakes.
At the outskirts of Higheast City, Adelbert and his unit marched on to assassinate the Ashitares which is ordered by Doug. Therefore two of his soldiers inform them about Higheast Army.
"Lord Adelbert, the Higheast Army are hiding around the forest place and it was trap."
"What was that!?"
With that, most of his armies are killed by a rain of arrows as Damian faces off against Adelbert.
"All right, Adelbert, I'm gonna get your head!"
"We'll see about that!" Adelbert remarked horribly as the fight begins. Damian's group manage to disperse his men and seeing Adelbert's offensive range by hitting with his two-handed sword.
Damian eventually wounds Adelbert but was knocked off by bashing him through the bushes.
"Damn it..."
"Ugh... I may beat him, but he struck me so hard..." Adelbert said as he goes to the left side and being confronted by Sean and his group.
"Not so fast, Adelbert. You may knock Damian out of your brute strength. I'm gonna rip you apart!"
"Damn, you mongrels!"
Most of Sean's group had defeated the remaining soldier's in Adelbert's group as both Sean and Adelbert clash in a sword fight. He throws his Tokkosho on the ground where Adelbert is standing as it explodes to knock him down. Sean tries to stab Adelbert but was knocked away. Adelbert struggles to fight Sean because of the injuries he had sustained from multiple arrow shots and not accepting defeat and decided to move forward.
"...I won't be falter, not yet!"
"Hey red head, That knuckle head is coming!" Sean yelled to tell Seed that Adelbert is coming.
Adelbert finally faces Seed, displaying their rivalry and knowing the battle will be deadly. Being accompanied by Tougou and Asher, Seed knows his capabilities to battle Adelbert.
"Your time is up, Adelbert! You can't break our true King's trap. And you have no soldiers and heavily wounded to fight!"
"Tough luck about this trap, You'd think I would be beaten by all of you despite this wounds that I have! Now I will eliminate you right here, right NOW!"
"Enough of your cheeky talk, you dead beaten sasquatch! It's the shitty old fool's fault for reviving you like this!" Seed horribly remarks at Adelbert's appearance. "Now I'm getting fired up, to take you down for the count! Let's FIGHT!"
