Chapter 32: Battling the Head Vampire
Lene and Cara had managed to dress Jessica as one of the village folk which angers her because of her hatred of skirts.
"Ugh... not this dress... I looked like a total girl."
"Hey... has anyone know that you are a girl too." Lauren said sarcastically and Lene also responds to her reaction.
"Yep, it is true..."
"I know! I know! I just hate skirts!" Jessica yelled angrily only to be given a knifepoint by Cara.
"Just follow what the Mayor says, missy. Inspector Rockwell will be there shortly."
Lene noticed another girl is with them which happens to be Evan's girlfriend and she unties the rope within her.
"You must be Evan's girlfriend."
"You can call me Laurie."
"Hurry up, your highness... We have to get out of here and quick." Lauren said which makes Lene nods.
Both Geddoe and Evan fight off zombies by slithering them on their throats with their swords as the Star Dragon Sword had sensed Lene's presence. Drogo casts Explosion to incinerate the zombies with his True Fire Rune while Seed casts Rising Sun with his Rage Rune. Sean then detaches one of the blades from his Tokkosho as he throws at the zombies in explosion. Sean grabs the blade and annihilate them with two slashes within his dual blades and he finally reattach the two blades into one as the zombies were quickly decapitated. Seed tries to slash them with his sword only to be pinned down by a zombie as one of Lene's double-sided tonfas were dropped. Seed tries to hold on by his sword while getting the tonfa as he struggled to get up but accidentally shoots the zombie's head, killing it with the tonfa he carries.
"Lene was right about her double-sided tonfas. That can shoot them with bullets. Although, the other one can shoot tasers."
Seed then carries Lene's tonfas and to regroup with Sean, Cassandre, Geddoe, Evan, and Drogo as Cassandre casts Explosion from her Fire Rune on the remaining zombies. Sean manages to slash the lock with his Tokkosho and to free all the people who were being held captive.
"Inspector Rockwell..."
"Cara, you're okay... but where's Lene." Sean said in relief as Evan sees Lauren is okay.
"Lady Lauren... you too."
"Of course..." Lauren replied as Jessica brashingly remarks on them.
"Are these guys are gonna save us from that bloodsucking bastard?"
"It's Rambert, Sean... when we tried to get out, he came to get Lene and Laurie first."
"Damn it... we had no time..." Sean said as Seed knows where he took them.
"They might be in the chapel, let's go!"
At the chapel, both Lene and Laurie tries to defend themselves from Rambert.
"Eeek... please save us, your highness."
"Don't you dare near us, you blasted vampire! I'm gonna beat the hell outta you!" Lene said grimacing and Rambert was amused over her toughness.
"I'm not gonna hurt her, my dear. She's going to be a grown vampire like me."
"Nonsense... she won't get old because of immortality if you turned on her! I'm not gonna be your bride, you psycho!"
"Come on, ladies... don't get so pissed."
Lene tries to protect Laurie from Rambert only for Seed and the group arrive.
"Get your filthy hands on my girlfriend, you blood sucking bitch!"
"Well now, these men who were the ones who get rid of Leather Face!"
"Sorry to disappoint you, you bloodsucking psycho! The bald guy just take him out when we proceed to get move from here!" Seed said in arrogance as Evan sees his girlfriend.
"Hang on, Laurie... we're coming."
"Vampire! The punishment for destroying the lives of those people will be swift! You'll be finished here and now!" The Star Dragon Sword has finally spoken which scares Rambert. However, Evan manages to seal him using the sacred barrier when he is distracted.
"Curse you! You distract me with this seal! I have two hostages with me!"
"This sacred barrier that I've learned from the last living person from the Marley Family. Now you can't use your phase magic that can make yourself a doppelganger."
Sierra arrives in the scene and surprises Rambert from her appearance and knowing that he has no escape.
"It's been a while, Rambert. Perhaps, I'll get the power back on me."
Sierra then sucks Rambert's blood which she absorbs his powers, allowing the group to battle him.
"All right, boys... I'll protect these two girls. You deal with him now!"
"Damn you bitch! You weaken me... I'm not gonna be defeated by those men! I want to live!"
"You're gonna get your asskicked! You psychotic bitch! Let's fight!" Seed said finally gets his sword from his sheath while Evan prepares using the Star Dragon Sword and they battle him.
Due to Sierra weakening him, Rambert uses the remaining power as a vampire by creating a blast of darkness souls. Seed casts Protective Mist from his Flowing Rune to protect themselves from the magical attack which it succeeds as both Geddoe and Drogo casts their respective True Runes by unleashing Thunder Storm and Blazing Earth to deal heavy damage at Rambert. Sierra then decided to aid them and casting Black Shadow from her Darkness Rune. Rambert was suffered by the damage sustained by them as Evan and Seed stabs him with their respective swords, knock him down. Lene and Laurie finally comes to their respective boyfriends.
"Evan... I'm glad you're okay..."
"It's all right..." Evan said and Seed hugged Lene romantically after saving them.
"I'm happy that you came, Seed. Where's Cara and the others."
"Sean had saved them until I sensed you were in the chapel. That bloodsucker needs to be put down."
Suddenly, Rambert stands up from behind and immediately grabs Lene as a hostage much to their horror.
"LENE!"
"I'm sure that I can't escape from this barrier. Perhaps, I'm gonna put an end to this woman." Rambert said in desperation only for Seed to throw one of her tonfas at Lene.
"Lene, catch it, hurry!"
Lene manages to get one of her double-sided tonfas and she shoots him in the head, knocking him down and gets free and Seed tries to defend her.
"You bitch!"
"This barrier is not gonna break, Rambert. Your end has come..." Evan said in a serious tone.
"Darn you humans... you dare to pull that trick on me! You ruined my plans by kidnapping these folks with my wine business and now this! You're going to regret this!"
"You regret this for your actions, vampire. Now, Star Dragon Sword!"
"Die, vampire!"
Evan makes a final strike on Rambert with the use of the Star Dragon Sword and the latter was completely annihilated in a flash of darkness and was burst into a pile of ashes. Seed watches to see him getting annihilated and was glad that Lene is safe on his arms.
"That's for the people in Tinto that you've killed."
Outside within the city, Sean, Geddoe and Drogo continue to fight while defending Cara and the other girls, Frank arrives to rescue them. Before they are ready to battle them, they noticed the zombies are no longer control by Rambert and they collapsed into the ground.
"The zombies are on the ground." Drogo remarked about their appearance and Geddoe was relieved.
"Looks like they killed the head vampire. They made it."
Seed, Evan and Sierra arrive to see them and they rescue both Lene and Laurie at the chapel and Frank knew they were alive and well and they rescue their loved ones.
"Your highness... you're okay."
"It's okay... thanks to Evan and this vampire over there, we ended up getting murdered." Lene said nicely to Lauren as the latter faces both Frank and Jessica.
"I'm really sorry for accusing both of you for perpetrating the murders in my city. I never thought a vampire was responsible for the murders and kidnapping."
"It's all right, little lady. This is what we need to get free from getting pursued. I know Leather Face is behind the accident."
Sean then looked at both Lene and Seed and to see them how close they were and became embarrassed to see them both as Cara teases him.
"Inspector Rockwell, you seem pretty embarrassed or something?"
"It's none of your business... red head deserves it. At least no more whining over losing his girlfriend." Sean said sarcastically.
The next day after the incident, Lauren decided to let both Maddie, Thierry and Steff to join at Lene's side and wanted to know the whereabouts of both Frank and Jessica.
"I'll let my compatriots to help you deal the war, your highness. I got a lot of working thing to do here in my city."
"Sure and do you know where both Frank and Jessica is?" Lene asked as Lauren answers her question.
"Following the incident, the two of them might be staying at Crom Village. I already give them a parole since Frank is helping you dealing against those zombies. My ancestor is pretty stubborn not to see the entire war happening in Dunan until he faces reality from having Neclord to take over the city with his zombie army." Lauren said reminding herself not to follow of her ancestor Gustav. But I always follow my ancestor's daughter's footsteps in fighting seriously in the war."
"Say Lene, maybe we should visit at Crom Village. Frank with his chainsaw will be a bloody powerhouse to join us in the war." Seed said wanted Frank to join on their side which she nods in agreement.
"I'm sure his tomboyish lady of his still getting pissy over wearing skirts. Girls are normal to wear skirts." Sean commented about Jessica's dislike of skirts.
"I guess let's move..."
"Hey don't forget about us..." Geddoe arrives alongside Drogo and Cara to aid them.
"Since the case is already solved, I decided to stick up with Inspector Rockwell if he is involved on this dumb war." Cara said decided to join on Lene's side.
"Fine, Cara... you always sticking into my business whenever I fight in the war games." Sean said in disappointment.
They later travelled in Crom Village and to see Frank who is now portray as a enforcer to the town.
"It's been a while you two. After you save your lovely princess."
"Say big guy, how about you join us to fight in the war. Your massive chainsaw is good in handy to fight those soldiers." Seed requested Frank to join on their side which he smiles in delight.
"I smell blood within the air outside of this city when someone is causing carnage. All right then, I'm in..."
"You're going to those people, Frank. After all what happened to us, I want some nice air to stay in this town." Jessica arrives to see Frank who still complained after the incident.
"No, Jessie... that fight they were doing means enjoyment. That's why I smell the blood in the air." Frank said and Jessica looked to see Lene and Cara.
"If Frank comes with you, then I am. I'm also doing the blood fest like him. Those wretched bastards has to be prepared because he and I were professionally dangerous to wield chainsaws."
"I guess two people are good in handy to join with us. Welcome to the club..." Sean said letting both Frank and Jessica to join their cause.
Returning back to the Higheast Palace, they are waited by Asher in the gate and to see them all right.
"What took the both of you so long? The king is waiting for you at his throne."
"Hey old man... you're still grumpy as ever." Seed remarked over Asher's grumpiness as he allows Lene and the others to get inside.
After the discussion about the incidents in Tinto, Seed looked at the night sky and remembering the night he made love to Lene. Asher came to see him.
"You seem clouded on your mind, young man. Is it because of the princess?"
"I couldn't forget about our night with Lene. It was a magnificent night between us. Maybe that was the reason for us Highlanders to change things after they took over our beloved country in Highland." Seed answered in delight.
"Yes it is... some of them wanted to change their perspective in life but others who were aristocrats wanted to maintain their riches and power of aristocracy." Asher said confirming about the changes of the Highlanders who lived in Higheast City.
"I saw Culgan in my dream and he told me something about the Higheast Rebellion following our deaths just to defend our beloved country from Lord Riou and his rabble mercenaries. He and I we realized of our current mistakes for defending our beloved country from them. It was the right thing for them to change our beloved country as their own. I finally realized the changes of our home country. It's not just royalty, it was just like the rest of the provinces here in Dunan like a normal city." Seed said finally tells Asher about his dream with Culgan.
"Guess my ancestor really cares about you, young man." Asher said knowing of his ancestor.
"So what's their discussion earlier?" Seed asked which Asher confirms about Lars' discussion.
"After you told us about the incidents in Tinto, Lars had already decided to liberate Greenhill at the hands of the Silverian Army. This will be our first start of our liberation to make people free from getting a take over from those army."
"I'm glad that I make up all of my losses in the war games. I was too arrogant to take down Lord Riou and his army because I always followed Lord Jowy's orders. That's why I was with him with Yuber to deal with them before he gives Culgan's group a signal to get rid of them." Seed said remembering the times of his losses on the Highland Army.
"Don't be worry, young man. That fight will be a long fight and no rest for the weary men." Asher said telling him off and leave.
Seed closes his eyes whenever he sees Asher was Culgan and smiles and knowing the war games is about to start very soon.
