Normally silence was awkward.
It wasn't right now though.
'This feels nice.' Himeno didn't say it out loud, but she had never had a person stay the night in her apartment before without drinking being involved, or something work related. She hadn't had a single thing to drink the night before, and she just stayed up watching TV with Naruto before she went to bed, and he crashed on her couch. Now it was morning, nothing sexual happened and no drinking was taking place either.
It was silent, and calm, but what was more it was relaxing.
She didn't feel the need to make conversation to lighten the mood, because they were both in a good mood. There wasn't some need to break the ice between them at the moment, because they were eating breakfast. The sounds of chewing, drinking orange juice, and the morning news were what they had to listen to. Her morning coffee was almost finished brewing, and though she was wearing nothing but a loose T-shirt and her panties, the air wasn't sexually charged like it was when she was drunk.
It was nice.
She liked it.
'... This makes me realize, Naruto is more like me than I thought... or maybe I'm more like him. He always tries to bring the mood up, and help people feel comfortable too.' Himeno looked at Naruto, and he must have felt her stare, because he looked right back at her. All he did was smile, and he had toast stuck in his teeth. She giggled as he drank some juice to get the toast unstuck. She kept smiling though. She didn't feel the need to really say anything.
She thought it was nice, but it was more than just nice, this felt right to her. The feeling of the room was nice and comfortable. She genuinely felt as though it would be a shame if somebody spoke and ruined this pleasant silence that was going.
Last night, she had dreamed a pleasant dream.
She had dreamed that she had both of her eyes, and she was an old woman looking at her wedding photos, and photos of her kids. She had dreamed of having a long life, a very long life where she got to die of old age. She had dreamed a good dream, a happy and sad dream. She was a devil hunter, this dream was unrealistic for her to ever think of making a reality.
'With him though, it might not be unrealistic. I hate being in Public Safety, I want to go to the Private sector... but Aki wants to hunt down the Gun Devil, so I stay for him. I almost died... I almost died from a gun.' Himeno slowly started to frown as she remembered how Naruto had saved her life. He had wrecked his way through the city, just so that he could prevent her from death.
Now, he was staying with her for a few days, and though she didn't know the reason why he was staying with her, she knew her life was in some kind of danger. It was so out of the blue, that it just had to be the case that something was after her. Actually, meeting Naruto had been one of the best things to ever happen to her.
'She seems happy.' Naruto watched as Himeno smiled at him, her half eaten breakfast was going forgotten. She had an aura of happiness around her. He wanted to ask her what she was thinking of, but he had his mouth full of bacon. Thus, he stayed silent, because if she had something to say, she would say it.
Naruto entered Sage Mode.
Aki was eating breakfast with Denji and Power.
Kobeni was drinking cheap coffee while Akane took her ice cold shower.
Makima was in a meeting with a bunch of old dudes.
Reze was on a phone call with somebody.
"Why do your eyes change sometimes?" Himeno finally broke the silence when Naruto's eyes changed right in front of her. The silence was comfortable, but breaking the silence didn't add any tension to the room. She watched as yellow turned back to blue and the red rings over his eyes faded away.
Naruto wondered.
"It's called Sage Mode. I was just checking up on everyone, making sure they are okay. Makes me stronger, faster, more durable, and heal faster. With all the danger you guys get in, I might as well keep my eye on you every now and again. As long as you're in Japan, I can see you when I use it." Naruto explained, he left out a ton of smaller details, but as long as she understood the gist of what he was doing. He saw she was hooked though.
"How detailed is it... you see it, so... what is Aki doing right now?" Himeno asked with some wonder.
This sounded amazing.
"He was eating breakfast with Power and Denji, and Denji was pouring a ton of jam on some toast. He was just standing up to get a cup of coffee, and Power was being Power." Naruto explained what he had seen.
"Kobeni and Akane?"
"Akane was in the shower, taking her ice cold shower as part of her contract, and Kobeni was making coffee. Makima is in a meeting with a bunch of old guys." Naruto explained more of what he had seen. She listened to him talk, and she actually took in what he was saying. "There are a few devils hiding in the sewers, about... 20 blocks from here. Oh, and Kishibe is in Kyoto, killing a devil." Naruto added a few more details he hadn't focused on before.
"So... how does it work, how do you see this stuff?" Himeno asked.
"... Can you picture a banana... if you think of a banana, does an image of a banana appear in your mind... and can you see what color it is, kind of like you're looking at it?" Naruto explained it to her the best that he could.
She tried it.
She thought about a banana, and it did appear in her mind. She was able to see the banana as if she were looking at it with her eyes. The color, the shape, and she could even make it spin in her mind as if it were actually there moving.
"I can."
"It's like that. I don't use my eyes to see, but instead, it's kind of like my brain has eyes everywhere. I can see everything in my mind, in the form of visions. Since there are tons of people in Japan, I kind of only focus on the people I know, or if something is close by that isn't human." Naruto was able to see all over Japan, and even though it wouldn't overload his brain to see so much, it still made it hard to focus on smaller things when he spread his focus so wide. It was just easier for him to keep his targets down to a manageable number.
Himeno grinned.
"Okay, so let me ask you, have you ever seen me masturbating before?"
"I caught Kobeni masturbating yesteryday, she used 4 fingers when she did it... and I've seen you do it a time or two." Naruto admitted with a small blush on his face, and he provided extra details.
"Oh yeah, how do I like to do it... prove you saw me?"
"You did it with the toy you have hidden in your panty drawer, and you shove it about halfway in... kind of at this speed." Naruto started to tap on the table at a slow speed. Himeno's cheeks started to turn a bit pink when she realized he wasn't just kidding around about seeing her play with herself. "The toy is about... this big." Naruto spread his hands apart to about the 6 inch point, and she lowered her face.
Okay, he wasn't lying at all, that was how big her toy was, and when she played with herself with it, most of the time she only inserted about half of the boy inside herself. She did that, because she always kind of pictured Aki, with how nonsexual he was, as having a smaller penis. So she masturbated with about half of the toy, so that when she played with it while thinking about him, she could get deeper into her imagination.
"Okay... I believe you, you can stop going into detail..." Himeno was blushing now, and she raised her hand to stop the assault on her heart. "... So... what else can you do?" Himeno asked him, it was time to change the subject.
"Well, I have few things above that, but honestly... I don't need to use those powers. Last night, when you were asleep, I tried to heal your eyeball... but as soon as I healed your eye, it disappeared." Naruto stated. He had gone to her in her sleep and tried to grow a new eyeball into her head, but as soon as it appeared, it vanished.
Himeno smiled.
"Thanks, but I gave up that eye for my contract with Ghost. As long as I'm contracted to Ghost, that eye belongs to him, even if it is a new eye." Himeno was genuinely so thankful that Naruto had tried to help her without her knowledge, but devil contracts weren't so easy to back out of that she could just get a new eye. It was the same reason why she needed an eyepatch, because she couldn't even use a fake eye, because ANY eye that was in her head belonged to ghost.
Her right eye belonged to ghost, that was the rule, so if there was ever an eye in the right side of her head, it belonged to ghost too.
"I tried a few times, kept failing, so I figured that was the reason."
"It's cool, thanks for trying though... wait... if you can see everything, does that mean you can see where the Gun Devil is?" Himeno realized, it took her awhile. "... and you can kill it with your power?" Himeno was excited.
Naruto crossed his arms.
"Well, I can... but think about it. Devils respawn in Hell when you kill them, and then they come back here when they die in Hell... so isn't it smarter to just leave the Gun Devil torn to pieces, but still alive?" Naruto had actually thought of something similar. Everyone wanted to kill the Gun devil for personal revenge, but if they managed to do that, all they would be doing would be causing it to go back to it's full strength in Hell, and then starting the process all over again.
Himeno, who had been standing when she thought of Naruto killing the Gun devil, sat back down as his words and their weight crashed down on her.
"Right... Devils reincarnate when killed... oh... oh shit... we're all so stupid, we've been trying to kill the Gun." Himeno couldn't believe it. Now that it was spelled out for her, she could see how stupid they all were in trying to get revenge.
Naruto looked at her, and saw that.
"Revenge against Devils is stupid, because they forget their memories when you kill them and reincarnate. You kill them, they forget their memories and go to Hell, they get killed in Hell and come back to Earth, and then they kill humans until they get killed." Naruto explained why killing a devil out of purely revenge wasn't smart. The Gun devil was a perfect example of a way to deal with a devil, to keep it split apart and weakened, weak enough to be subdued and made a non-threat.
Himeno listened and understood his words.
"... You say that like it's easy to not try and get revenge."
"Of course it's hard. Revenge feels great in the moment, and it's so easy to put all your hate and suffering towards a goal, but it isn't healthy. The right thing to do isn't always the easy thing. When a devil attacks humans, you kill them, but not out of revenge, but to stop the devil from killing people. Killing to stop more death, and killing because something was taken from you are way different." Naruto wasn't against murder and killing, but he was against certain reasons behind it.
"Aki lost his parents to the Gun Devil."
"My powers were killed the day I was born, and I grew up hated, alone, and starved for love. My life has always sucked."
"I hope you find the bastard who did it." Himeno raised a glass to him.
"I did, and I gave him a chance to redeem himself. I'll never forgive what he did, but I still saw a good person inside of him wanting to make things right. I told him that I expected him to accept whatever punishment he was given... and honestly, he saved my life."
"That isn't realistic." Himeno pointed out.
She believed his story, but not all killers were like that.
"Yeah, and some killers don't seek redemption. Some are bastards who need to be killed, but don't kill them out of revenge. Kill them because they refuse to change, and are a danger to everyone around them. Still, you should totally kill devils when you get the chance... because most of them just hate humanity and want us all dead." Naruto could understand that this world was different than his own, and the devils weren't the same thing as the Tailed Beasts. They were similar in some aspects, but that was it, they were just similar.
Devils were just a threat, and the vast majority of them were incapable of getting along with humans purely because they used humans as a food source.
"This conversation was very enlightening."
"Yeah, it was a good way to change the subject away from the way you touch yourself." Naruto teased her. He grinned at her as the blush came back to her face. He leaned back in his chair, and put his hands in front of his crotch, and mimiced the way she masturbated. "Ooooooooh... daaaaaaamn... it feels so gooooood." Naruto perfectly imitated the way she sounded when she did it too.
Himeno blushed deeper.
Her face was heated, and she went back into a silence.
The silence was bad.
Even though she was a little embarrassed, Himeno would still say that the silence she was experiencing was comfortable and pleasant.
It was a good morning.
