Author's Note: Hello everyone! The Holiday season is upon us and now I'm going to put up some Christmas songs as well as songs from Christmas movies.

Now you're thinking that I'm going to start with a cheerful one right? Ha ha ha-WRONG!

Requested by Fox Boss, I'm going to use a song from 'Scrooge: A Christmas Carol', the animated musical on Netflix, now not a tear jerker as 'When Love is Gon'e but it is still sad.

This story sets in the Relativity/Gem Kids AU and focusing on Dipper and Pacifica.

Later Never Comes.

Inside his private study, Dipper observed the device used for Project Mentum; a device made to prevent one's mind from being invaded by a certain one-eyed demon triangle. Wished he had thought of this before putting a metal plate in his skull.

He placed the helmet on his head ready to test if the machine was in working order. He just had to think of a memory, any memory would do….with the exception of some childhood memories with a certain sister he was still not on good terms with.

While he pondered he noticed a small picture frame facing down, wondering what it was he picked it up and as he did, his eyes widened for on it was him as a young adult during his early stay at Gravity Falls, perhaps a week after meeting Steven and the Crystal Gems but on the picture he was smiling and holding onto a young woman with long blonde hair in a pony tail, the both of them smiling happily and in love.

Him and Pacifica.

Immediately the machine activated and read his thoughts and the screens showed images of the pair.

Happier times on days where Dipper was not solely focused on mysteries and mainly spend time with Pacifica.

The old man watched and smiled at all these memories, all the love but then from the darkest corners of his mind came a memory, a memory that he wished to forget.

"No, not that one," Dipper begged to no one but himself, "Please, don't let me see-"

But it was too late, all the screens showed the same image of his young adult-self looking over charts and schematics, his hair a mess while his lab coat had burns and cuts on it all the while Pacifica was in a lovely fancy dress.

This was the night of The Northwest family's annual high-society-shindig-ball-soiree. The night where Pacifica would have the courge of leave the family with Dipper by her side….and Dipper wasn't ready.

"Please tell me you haven't forgotten," Pacifica sighed as she looked at the man she loved.

"Of course not," Dipper replied while picking up more charts and looking through them. "Forgot about what?"

The Older Dipper sighed disappointedly at his younger self.

Pacifica also sighed, "The Ball? Where we announce our engagement in front of my family and all the other rich snobs they invited? Remember, Mason?!"

The older Dipper flinched at that. Whenever she said his real name, it is only when she is really upset with him.

"Yes, yes, I know I know, Pacifica but I am on a break through with my latest device and it is going to change everything!" His younger self spoke with such enthusiasm over it and seemingly showing no care for Pacifica's reactions. "I need to make sure nothing is wrong when I built it."

"Well can't Steven do this while you come with-"

"NO!" Dipper glared at his younger self shouting at Pacifica causing her to flinch. "I can't have him involved he'll only mess it up, this is too important!

Pacifica glared at him, "Well this is important too! We've planned this!"

The younger Dipper groaned, "Look can't we do this later, Pacifica? I'm too busy right now."

She looked at him in shock, "Are you serious?" But he gave no replay as he continued looking over his papers as if she wasn't there.

The older Dipper watched as tears were ready to fall from her face. He knew since the moment where he encountered that…..demon, he spend less time with Pacifica and shut her out more times than he can count, and this day was the final straw.

Pacifica hoped that this would be the day she and Dipper would announce to family to not only her engagement but also her freedom from them and the Northwest name forever….but it seems that this would never come to pass.

But she was not one to give up, she looked at Dipper with determination, she was going to give him one. More. Chance.

Pacifica: When we first met, your heart was free.

Your hopeful eyes saw only me.

She slowly moved toward him while he gathered up more blueprints.

Now you're looking for something, something I can never be.

When you are really all I need.

Dipper watched in regret as his younger self still had his back towards Pacifica.

You keep on telling me later, but later never comes around.

Please stop telling me later, as you such for what just can't be found.

He watched as Pacifica placed her hand on his younger self's shoulder but he didn't react and just kept drawing and erasing design and equations, until she turned him around to face her.

Take my hand, come with me now and we'll fly free.

She offered her hand towards him with the hand that hold the engagement ring he gave her. He simply just looked at it then turned his back against her again, back to his papers.

No more later we both know that's a lie, don't let this be the day I say, Goodbye!

She glared at him then moved around his desk and glared at him as she knocked all the papers to the ground with her arm.

Goodbye!

He watched as his younger self flinched back from this action and he noticed what his younger self failed to see. The tears that were falling from Pacifica's face.

He pushed a button on the machine that freeze the image. He rubbed his face as the emotions were building up, the anger over his younger self's actions, and the sorrow for not noticing her pain.

Dipper: When you met her, you were set free.

Her love for you was plain to see.

He willed himself to look back at the image.

You kept looking for something, a secret to the mystery, but she was really all you need.

Dipper caressed the image of Pacifica.

You kept on telling her later, but later never comes around.

Please stop telling her later, stop searching for what can't be found.

Then he glared at his younger-self with much hatred then he ever showed anyone before.

Take her hand, go with her now and you'll fly free.

No more later we both know that's a lie, this will be the day she says, Goodbye!

Enrage he hit the console that caused the memory to resumed.

Pacifica: Goodbye!

Dipper: Goodbye!

Pacifica: Goodbye!

The image showed the young Dipper looking at the papers on the floor with wide eyes and revelation.

"Oh my god, what was I thinking?"

Pacifica smiled thinking she's gotten through, but then that hope was shattered as he picked up two of the papers.

"I've been doing these equations wrong!" He grabbed a pencil and started writing down. "I've got to fix this immediately, nothing else but this matters!"

"NO! DON'T SAY THAT YOU FOOL!" He shouted at his younger self as Pacifica covered her mouth as the tears fell like a waterfall and as she reached for the door, she took of her ring and tossed it to ground as she ran out the door.

As the door closed and the ring hit the ground, it managed to snap his younger-self out of his thoughts, he looked around the room, "Pacifica, where did you go?" He looked out the window to see her already running out of the shack.

"I wonder what that was about?" He shrugged as he went back to his work. "Oh well, she'll come back."

The screen fizzed as the older Dipper grabbed the headset off his head and threw it to the ground in anger and disgust, he covered his eyes to try and hold the tears back.

"How could I've been so stupid?"

The End.
