At night

The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silver glow over the quiet streets. A soft breeze rustled the leaves, whispering secrets to the night.

The night was alive with chatter and laughter as Tyson's dojo, The Blade breakers' enjoying their celebrating with food and endless chatter, the scent of barbecue filled the air, and cups of soda clinked together as everyone enjoyed the evening.

Hilary sat quietly at the edge of the group, smiling at their antics but feeling a little distant. Lately, she had been avoiding too much attention, hoping no one would notice the tension she carried. She had gotten better at pretending. At forcing laughter. At making sure no one suspected a thing.

But one person had started to notice.

Kai Hiwatari.

He had been watching her more than usual, his sharp crimson eyes scanning her with quiet curiosity. Hilary wasn't sure if it was concern or just his usual tendency to observe, but it made her uneasy.

Kai didn't forget what happened in morning, the call, Hilary's fear, crying in room, and…hiding something. He was lost in his thoughts to figure out what is happening, just then-

"Alright, everyone, listen up!" Daichi shouted, standing on a chair to grab attention. "We're playing a game! Everyone puts their phone in the middle of the table. If your phone rings or you get a message, you HAVE to read it out loud or answer it on speaker. No exceptions!"

There were mixed reactions. Max and Ray laughed as they tossed their phones onto the table. Tyson, never one to back down from a challenge, slammed his down confidently,Even Kenny also ready to play.

Hilary hesitated for a moment before placing hers down too.

Kai, however, merely scoffed. "This is childish."

"What, scared you'll get a love confession?" Tyson teased.

Kai shot him a cold glare before tossing his phone onto the pile. "Tch. Whatever."

With all the phones now stacked in the center of the table, the game had begun.

They didn't have to wait long, the game started quickly when Ray's phone lit up first.

Incoming call: Mariah

everyone smirked,Ray singhed picking up the call, putting it on speaker.

"Ray! Did you forget what today is?!" Mariah's voice rang through.

Ray blinked. "Uh… no?"

"Oh my gosh! You did! IT'S OUR FRIENDSHIP ANNIVERSARY! YOU'RE SO HEARTLESS!"

The entire group burst into laughter as Ray groaned. "Mariah, please—"

"You better make it up to me!" she huffed before hanging up.

Ray sighed, shaking his head. "I hate this game."

After ten minutes,Tyson groaned when his screen lit up. Incoming Call: Grandpa.

"Oh, this is gonna be good," Max laughed.

Tyson hesitantly answered and put it on speaker. "Hey, Gramps…"

"TYSON! Did you EAT YET?!"

Everyone burst into laughter.

"Yes, Grandpa, we're at a cookout," Tyson said quickly.

"DON'T OVERDO IT! YOU ALWAYS STUFF YOUR FACE LIKE A PIG AND THEN COMPLAIN LATER!"

"Gramps—"

"And STOP LAZING AROUND! HAVE YOU BEEN TRAINING?!"

The entire group was howling with laughter as Tyson groaned. "Gramps, I'll call you later!" He ended the call quickly and crossed his arms. "I hate this game."

Next up was Max. His phone buzzed with a text.

Mom: "Maxie, did you take your vitamins? And remember to change your socks!"

Ray burst out laughing. "Dude, your mom still reminds you about socks?"

"Shut up," Max grumbled, blushing as the others teased him.

Then, as if the universe wasn't done embarrassing him, his phone rang.

Incoming Call: Mom.

"NO!" Max groaned as everyone cheered. He picked up reluctantly. "Hey, Mom."

"Maxie! Did you—"

"Yes, I took my vitamins!"

"And your socks—"

"They're clean, Mom!"

"Good! And tell your friends to stay out of trouble, especially Tyson!"

Tyson gasped. "Why me?!"

The call ended with Max looking thoroughly humiliated. "I REALLY hate this game."

As the game continued, everyone waited for the next phone to ring.

BZZZT! BZZZT!

Kenny's phone lit up on the table.Tyson grinned. "Alright, Chief! Let's see what you got!"

Kenny gulped, adjusting his glasses before picking up his phone. His face paled instantly.

Max peeked over. "Who's it from?"Kenny sighed heavily. "My mom."Laughter erupted around the room.

"Oh, this is gonna be good!" Daichi smirked. "Read it out loud, Chief!"Kenny hesitated, then cleared his throat.

Mom: Kenny, did you drink enough water today? You sit in front of that laptop too much! Also, I saw an article about some new brain-boosting supplements. Should I order them for you?

Silence. Then…Tyson fell off his chair laughing."Oh man! That's so classic!".Kenny groaned. "This is embarrassing…"

"C'mon, Chief," Ray teased. "Tell her you're fine."

Kenny sighed and typed a quick reply. Yes, Mom. I'm drinking water. No need for the supplements.

The moment he hit send, his phone buzzed again.

Mom: Okay, but I'm sending them just in case.Tyson burst into laughter again. "She played you, Chief!"

Kenny buried his face in his hands while everyone continued laughing.Just as the laughter started dying down…

RIIIIIING!

Daichi's phone rang loudly. He grabbed it excitedly. "Oh yeah! My turn!"

Kai raised an eyebrow. "You sound way too happy about this."

Daichi smirked. "That's 'cause I don't have anything to hide! I bet it's just—" He glanced at the screen. His eyes widened. "Oh."

Hilary frowned. "What? Who is it?"

Daichi scratched his head. "Uh… it's my old school principal."

Tyson nearly choked on his drink. "Wait—what?!"

Ray leaned forward, curious. "Why would your principal be calling you?"

Daichi shrugged. "Only one way to find out!" He answered and put it on speaker.

Principal: "DAICHI SUMERAGI!!"

The room went dead silent.

Daichi winced. "Uh… hi?"

Principal: "Do you have ANY idea how much paperwork I had to do because of you?!"

Everyone turned to Daichi in shock.

Kai gave him a blank stare. "What did you do?"

Daichi grinned sheepishly. "Uh… long story."

Principal: "You released a BEYBLADE in the middle of math class!"

Hilary gasped. "Daichi!!"

Principal: "You BROKE the classroom window, Sumeragi! Do you know how expensive that was?!"

Tyson was crying from laughter.

Daichi scratched his head. "Uh… in my defense, I thought it would bounce off the desk."

Principal: "I am STILL getting complaints from teachers about you! You're lucky you left for a Beyblade career!"

Kai sighed. "Why am I not surprised?"

Principal: "Anyway, I just called to say I'm retiring. And you were one of my most 'memorable' students."

Daichi blinked. "Uh… thanks?"

Principal: "Not a compliment." Click.

The call ended.

For a second, there was silence.

Then the entire room exploded into laughter.

Ray shook his head. "That might be the best call of the night."

Max wiped away tears. "I can't believe you actually broke a window."

Daichi grinned. "Heh! Good times."

Kai sighed. "You're an idiot."

Tyson clapped Daichi's back. "Yeah, but he's our idiot!"

The game was filled with laughter and jokes…until Hilary's phone buzzed.

She stiffened as all eyes turned to her phone. Her fingers trembled as she reached for it.

Unknown Number: "You think ignoring us will make us stop? Big mistake, loser."

Her heart pounded.Tyson leaned closer. "Uh, Hil? What does it say?",She forced a smile. "Oh, just spam."

Kai, however, didn't look convinced. His eyes locked onto her, sharp and knowing. She quickly deleted the message before anyone else could read it.But before the tension could build—

Kai's phone rang.

Unknown Caller.

Everyone turned to him.Kai answered without hesitation. "Speak."There was silence.

Then—

"She's lying."The call ended.A cold chill settled over the group.Hilary felt her stomach drop.

Kai slowly placed his phone back on the table, his crimson eyes now locked onto her.And she knew.

He wasn't going to let this go.No matter how much she tried to hide it.
