Love Letters- Chapter 11, Letter 12

Kagome woke up to the sounds of the shower starting. Sitting up, she wrapped herself in a blanket and walked downstairs. Her eyes lit up when she saw the ramen in the fridge. After heating it up and settling herself on a spot on the counter, she dug in. It was her favorite, with egg in it and everything. She didn't hear the shower turn off, or Sesshomaru walking down the stairs.

Sesshomaru smiled when he got down the stairs and reached the doorway the kitchen. There was the love of his life, wrapped in a blanket, eating ramen and sitting on the counter. This is what she chose to do on their first day of married life.

It felt as if nothing had changed. Kagome as his wife is the same as Kagome as his girlfriend.

She looked up, "hey baby!"

Sesshomaru walked up to her and put his arms on either side of her. She smiled and put down now empty bowl of ramen.
"Well if it isn't my husband," Kagome smiled, "how was your shower?"

"Well I might need another one…" Sesshomaru started, "because someone isn't wearing anything under her blanket." Pulling the blanket open to reveal Kagome's nakedness.
Kagome laughed and pressed herself against Sesshomaru. She felt him harden against her and she smiled. She brushed past him and walked upstairs, the blanket trailing behind her.
"Let's go pick out our rings, baby, and maybe if you're good we can consummate the marriage."

Sesshomaru leaned against the counter. She was glowing. He had never seen her more beautiful. Every day with her he fell more and more in love. He heard the shower turn on. He turned and cleaned up the bowl Kagome had set on the counter and went to the front door. After picking up the newspaper he settled at the kitchen table and waited for Kagome, reading the major headlines.
Kagome bounced down the stairs in a pair of jeans and a flowy shirt.
"Babe, I think my boobs have gotten bigger…bra shopping may be in order today."
Sesshomaru smiled, "Okay love, rings first. I had Jaken call my father's jeweler and he has some rings he thinks we'll like picked out."
Kagome beamed at him, "Well let's go!"

Sesshomaru closed down the house as Kagome skipped to the car. Sesshomaru arrived, keys in hand, and opened the door for her. After getting in the driver's seat, they were on their way downtown to the Tashio family jeweler. Kagome sang along to songs on the radio and chatted on the way. When they arrived, the owner of the shop, Mr. Totosai Gold, was waiting out front.
"Hello Sesshomaru! Long time no see! And Kagome! You're glowing."

"Hi Mr. Gold. Thank you so much for all of this." Kagome gushed.
"I can't let the newlyweds' symbol of marriage be just like anyone else's! Shall we see what you like?"

He opened the door and allowed Sesshomaru and Kagome into the shop first. The cases were filled with jewels, necklaces, bracelets, and rings. Kagome was stunned. Immediately a case caught her eye. She wandered over and realized that the case held fire opal and sapphires. She was in awe of the beauty of the gems. Sesshomaru went to her and smiled when he saw her face.
"Mr. Gold?" Sesshomaru called.
"Yes sir?"

"I think we found it." He said, the smile growing.

Mr. Gold went to the case and looked at the gems. He smiled and went to the back room. He came back moments later with a small black box. He set it on the counter and slid it to Sesshomaru. He opened it and a smile immediately came to his face.

"It's perfect." Sesshomaru whispered.

"Let me see!" Kagome wiggled.

Sesshomaru passed the box to her. Kagome gasped. It was perfect. The thin white gold band was simple, there were fire opals incrusted in it, making it sparkle in the light. In the middle was the purest sapphire Kagome had ever seen, a deep deep blue. A royal blue. The stone was round and smooth and Kagome couldn't take her eyes off of it.

Sesshomaru gently took the box from Kagome and pulled out the ring. Kagome shakily held out her hand and Sesshomaru slid it onto her finger. The diamond ring the Sesshomaru proposed with Kagome wore on her middle finger, wanting to keep both with her.
"I love it." Kagome whispered.

"I love you." Sesshomaru whispered back.

They didn't notice that Mr. Gold had gone back into the room where he got Kagome's ring and brought another small box out. He cleared his throat at his arrival back in the main room and handed the box to Kagome. Inside the box was a thick white gold band that matched the band on Kagome's ring. She smiled and pulled it out, her other hand reaching for Sesshomaru's left hand. He placed his hand in hers and she slid the ring onto his finger.

"Thank you Mr. Gold. Please put this on the card."

"Oh no no. It's on me. I've been waiting for these rings to find the perfect couple. And plus, you're a Tashio. You get the family discount."

"Thank you so much!" Kagome gushed.

"You're welcome, sweet girl. Congratulations to you both."

Sesshomaru led Kagome out of the shop and back into the car. Kagome admired her ring. It fit perfectly, as if it were made for her. Everyday she spent with Sesshomaru she grew happier and happier.

As Sesshomaru drove to the mall, he held Kagome's hand, feeling lucky and happy.

They arrived at a store that was close to the mall, Motherhood Maternity. Sesshomaru wanted to get Kagome some new clothes for her pregnancy. They shopped and got a few things that Kagome liked, as well as new bras. Before long, Kagome was bored and tired. Sesshomaru drove the two of them home and Kagome settled in the car, falling asleep on the way home.

When he pulled into the driveway, he looked over only to realize that Kagome was fast asleep. He smiled and lifted her out of the car and into the house, where he laid her on their bed and covered her with a blanket. He went downstairs to his office so he wouldn't wake her up.

Sitting at his desk, a blank piece of paper in front of him, he was about to start writing when his phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Sesshomaru! How are you my son? Totosai called and said you got some rings today!"

"Hi Dad, yes we did. Kagome loves them. They're perfect. She's napping right now."
"Napping? Ah, she must have over excited herself"
"Well," Sesshomaru said, "she needs more sleep now, for the babies, anyway."
"Wait babies?" Ken asked
Sesshomaru looked at his phone, confused, "Yes Father, Kagome is pregnant. You didn't know?"

"She didn't tell me that! That's wonderful! Congratulations my boy!"
"I'm sure Izayoi knew dad. But thank you."
"Well, I'm calling to extend an invitation to the two of you for dinner tonight."

"Sure Dad, what time?"

"Say…around 7:30. Your brother will be here as well."

"Alright. See you then."

Sesshomaru hung up the phone and started to write.

Dear Babies,

I love you both so much. You are growing every day and
I am more excited to meet you. You are my light.

Mommy and I got our wedding rings today and you can't tell mommy but I'm going to get something for you two when I can. You are going to have a family that loves you more than anything in the world.

Sesshomaru folded up the letter and put it in an envelope with the others. He went to the bedroom and softly nudged Kagome.

"My father has invited us to dinner, my love."
Kagome moaned and opened her eyes, "What time?"

"7:30. We should get ready."

Kagome smiled, "Shower?"
