I disclaim everything that needs to be. Your reviews are so sweet; it honestly makes it more fun to write knowing y'all actually wanna read it. (which is hard to know in my career as a poet/writer) … Please know I appreciate them SO much.

Love Letters- Chapter 26, Letter 28

Miroku passed the slightly heavy box to Kagome.

"Before you open it," Miroku paused, "I got you this because I know you. I knew you'd never be able to justify buying this for yourself."

Kagome raised an eyebrow before lifting the lid of the box. Inside the tissue paper was a wrapped case of thin delicate paper. It was a case of a rare origami paper, made with mixtures of flowers and gold leaves.

"Miroku, oh my god…" she gasped, tears springing to her eyes.

"You talked about these for months during your pregnancy." Miroku laughed, "it was very clear that you wanted them. And you weren't going to get them for yourself."

"Because who pays $500,000 for paper?!"

"I did," Miroku laughed, "it was easy. Especially with that last settlement from the Barrett divorce, it was cake. Billionaire Breakups, man."

Kagome laughed, "Oh my god! That's what you've done with that money?"

Miroku glanced at Sango, "Not all of it. But some. Happy birthday, Kaggie."

"Thank you, Roku, truly,"

"Yea yea, best brother ever. I know you're gonna make something pretty from it." Miroku waved his hand with a smile.

Kagome grinned, "Maybe a wedding arch."

Sesshomaru laughed, "You want them to get married more than you want to get married yourself."

Kagome giggled, "We're already married. We've basically been married this whole time," she pointed, "So have they! They just need to make it legal, like us. They were married before we were."

Sango laughed, "That feels so true. I'm only surprised you two beat us to having kids."

Miroku grinned, "They wouldn't have if we'd started in high school like I asked."

Everyone dissolved into laughter as they remembered Miroku's relentless pursuit of Sango even after they'd started dating.

"You have more gifts, Kaggie!" Inuyasha gestured to the table, "You wanna do Mama Aia's before you get to the fan club?"

Kagome giggled and nodded, "It's heavy so give it to Sessh. He'd take it out of my hands anyways."

Sesshomaru lifted the parcel and set it in front of her, making sure he's clear of the plates still on the table. Kagome carefully untied the knots holding the silk in place. The silk fell away to reveal an ornate box made of marble. Etched into it, in gold, was the Tashio Family Crest in the center. Around it were flowers and moons embedded with gemstones.

"Oh my goodness, Mama…" Kagome gasped

"Isn't it gorgeous? It's heirloom, of course. Papa Ken's mumma gave it to me when we got married. Very strict instructions to give it to my firstborn's wife whenever I saw fit. The inside is the real gift, though. Absolutely stunning. A different work of art."

Sesshomaru gasped the loudest when Kagome opened the box. Inside was a robe that he'd only seen in his Father's Vault. It was heavy, beautifully made, embroidered with magnificent designs.

"I made it especially for you, Kagome. Though, when I first started the piece, I hadn't met you yet. Sessho was in kindergarten. When we did meet, I knew immediately with the way he looked at you when I picked you three up from school that October Day, that the robe was going to be for you. I was so tickled when my sweet, shy boy asked me to make your costume that year, and his! A cutie pink fairy and her two little guards. So precious. Anyway, I added to the robe until it felt finished, but it wasn't finished for the baby shower. I'm thrilled I didn't have to wait for the wedding!"

Kagome stood and lifted the robe out of the box so she could look at the whole thing while keeping it off the ground. It was stunning, bringing tears to her eyes.

"Sessh hasn't even seen it finished. I kept it in Papa's vault while he was in high school. Took it with me traveling so I could work on it whenever inspiration struck."

"It's gorgeous, Mama. Thank you so much." Kagome carefully folded the robe and put it back in the box before moving to hug her Mother-in-law.

"Of course, my dear. I know it'll make breastfeeding a bit more luxurious." Aia hugged back tightly, "you deserve it."

When they broke apart, Kagome turned and noticed that Sesshomaru had taken her seat with a smile and his arms extended. Papa Ken was cradling a sleeping Haru, and Sango was bouncing a giggling Rin. She grinned and settled onto his lap as Inuyasha arranged the rest of the gifts in front of her. He smirked as he placed Akitoki's gift in the front, knowing that the sooner it was opened, the sooner his brother would come up with a reason to hide it in the darkest corner of the house.

Sesshomaru rolled his eyes when he saw the gift front and center. He held it for her, holding it steady while Kagome carefully unwrapped the ribbon holding the gift wrap to the package. A simple box was revealed, with a lilac card sitting on top.

She read that first:

Princess Kaggie

Happy happy birthday. I bet you're putting your hair up more and more these days. I wonder why ;)

Anyways, these oughta help with that

Happy birthday, angel of my life

Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed a bit at the last line. Akitoki referred to Kagome as the "angel of his life" often while they were dating, and rarely in Sesshomaru's presence. Any time he did, Sesshomaru's mood would suck all the energy from the room until Akitoki or Inuyasha made a joke, and Kagome's laugh broke the tension.

Kagome put aside the card, "I know exactly what this is. Hair pins." she smiled with approval as her guess was confirmed immediately after opening the box. 6 hair pins, all made of different gemstones with silver inlay engravings.

"Pretty enough, I suppose," Sesshomaru muttered.

Inuyasha's laugh was the loudest, "Pretty enough, but of course Kags will find even more rare and beautiful hair pins on her dresser within 48 hours."

"It's possible," Sesshomaru glanced at Jaken quickly, watching as the man snuck into the house to solidify his plan. He'd planned on giving her some new hairpins, but she'd been wearing her hair down for the most part. Even when breastfeeding, her hair was loose down her back. He smirked, Akitoki didn't know her as well as he thought.

Of course Kagome would use them, Sesshomaru knew that, but she'd probably use the claw clips Kikyo gave her during the baby shower, or the scrunchie that's always at the edge of her easel in the house, first. Either way, she'd find a new set of hairpins within the week in their bedroom, Sesshomaru would see to that himself.

Kagome slid one of the hairpins from the box and twisted half of her hair up into a bun, securing it.

"They work, marvelous," Sesshomaru muttered again.

Kagome laughed, "Akitoki wouldn't send me something defective. It would make him look bad to you."

"Kagome," Sesshomaru sighed as he replaced Akitoki's gift with another from a client or fan-not bothering to check the label, "he only cares about what you think."

Their friends and family laughed and mumbled their agreements and encouraged Kagome to finish opening her gifts. They ooh-ed, ahh-ed, joked, and enjoyed each other as she did, with Eri furiously taking notes of who to send thank you cards to. Slowly, the sun started to set as Jaken lit some torches around the pool and started the fire pit.

Eri gathered the opened gifts and arranged them in the dining room so Kagome could put things away when she was ready. The twins were being fed before bath and bed, courtesy of Papa Ken and Mama Izayoi. Kagome sat with her husband and their friends around the firepit, watching as each of them kissed the tops of her twins heads as her in-laws carried them around before heading into the house. Just about a half hour later, Ken and Izayoi came back to the backyard and said their goodbyes, Aia gathering herself to join them.

As he leaned into a side hug with Sesshomaru, Papa Ken whispered, "Hiro sent gifts also, we'll discuss tomorrow."

Sesshomaru kept his face from reacting and nodded, "We'll all stop by the house tomorrow. See the babies' room. The twins have a checkup anyway. Lunch?"

Ken nodded, patting Inuyasha on the back and taking his briefcase from Jaken.

"Oh, Mama, is that what you wanted to show me tomorrow? That's a great idea, I would love to see how you decorated it. And we don't really go anywhere but the doctors, this would be a good baby step, I think." Kagome grinned into her hug with her mother-in-law.

Izayoi nodded, "Aia helped so much, it's so cute with its little woodland theme. And I got word that one of your birthday gifts may have come in. I'll have Chef Gaia make something delicious for us."

"I can't wait to see it!" Kagome kissed both of her mother-in-laws cheeks and hugged her father-in-law. The baby monitors, focused on the twins in the master bedroom, were next to Kagome's new phone that was monitoring the children's vitals as they slept.

After their parents left, the conversations flowed from subject to subject.

"You know, that pin really is pretty," Kikyo commented, taking another sip of her cocktail.

"I'll call Akitoki and ask where he sourced," Inuyasha laughed, draining the last of his beer before standing and getting a new one.

"Please do," Sesshomaru said dryly, taking another sip of whiskey, "he would be delighted to tell you."

Kagome giggled, "Of course he would, and then Sessh will find out and buy out the company or something."

"It's an idea," Sesshomaru commented while their friends laughed, "I would rather invest in their biggest competitor."

"Well, I want them for gift baskets!" Jakotsu laughed, "My brides are gonna just die over them."

"Especially those traditional brides," Kagome nodded, "ooh maybe I'll pivot into wedding photography."

"You'll be added to an exclusive planning package by morning, Kags," Bankotsu chuckled, looking at his partner lovingly.

Jakotsu's eyes lit up, "Oh Kaggie, would you? Really? I could whip up the most exclusive packages, I know everyone would die over your wedding photos."

Kagome giggled, "Well, how about this-Sango and Miroku would be the next wedding I shoot. I absolutely loved doing Inu and Kikyo's, and my friends deserve to have their choice if they want me to do it or not. After that, I'll sign on to three weddings a year."

Jakostu kissed Kagome's cheeks, "It feels like it's my birthday. I'll make sure only the most important and VIP clients are shown an option for you, a floor for you and the hubby-kids at every venue. You'll be the VIP of VIPs."

Miroku laughed, "God help those bridezillas, not being the most important person at the wedding."

"It'll be like Beyoncé going to your wedding!" Bankotsu laughed, "The Kagome Tashio doing your wedding photos."

"Well, Mama Aia wanted a Dave LaChappelle Maternity shoot. And we probably would've if I wasn't on bedrest by then." Kagome yawned, tapping her phone to check the time. It was only 8:45, but she was losing her energy quickly.

"You have to remember you gave birth to twins a week ago, Kags," Sango smiled, gathering up the empty plates on the table.

"Exactly," Jakotsu grinned, "you two head up to bed, we'll help Eri and Jaken clean up."

"Thanks guys," Kagome yawned again as Sesshomaru stood and gathered her into his arms, "y'all really made my birthday special."

"We have to celebrate 'Kagome the Woman', 'Kagome the Mom''s day was a week ago and next mother's day." Inuyasha laughed, "head to bed, me and Kikyo will get the gifts inside, get everything set up in the living room for you to organize."

Sesshomaru paused to let Kagome kiss Inuyasha's cheeks.

"Thanks Yash," Kagome smiled sleepily, "I probably won't even get to it till tomorrow afternoon, and it's supposed to rain all day."

"Then fingers crossed those twins are like you and nap even better in the rain." Inuyasha laughed harder, gathering up gift boxes into his arms. Kikyo waved them into the house with her free hand as the rest of their friends called their goodnights behind them.

As they walked up the stairs, Sesshomaru kept his voice low.

"There's one last gift for you to open, my love. It's in the sitting room."

Kagome kissed his neck, "a gift to open…"

"Kagome, you know what Dr Kaede said," Sesshomaru trailed off.

"Mmmhmm, and I'm still sore so nothing's going to happen. We'll just have to pretend to be virgins."

Sesshomaru chuckled softly, setting her down on the couch in their sitting room off of their bedroom, "after you open your gift we can dry hump and make out like we're in high school again."

Kagome laughed, putting her phone on the end table next to her so they could still keep an eye on the twins in the next room. She watched Sesshomaru turn on some lamps, and peek into the bedroom to lay eyes on their kids before leaving the door cracked.

He took her hand, leading her to stand.

"That's the gift, right? On the wall?" Kagome smiled.

"Yes, and yes, I will lift you up so you can reach it.", watching her grin as he lifted her up by her knees so she could tear the butcher paper from the frame. She gasped when the photo was revealed.

"Oh love, it was only a week ago but they're so sweet and tiny." she cooed as he lowered her back to the floor. She immediately wrapped herself around him.

"Thank you Sessh," she kissed him, "how could I ever top this in like a month?"

"You gave me my gifts already. Our beautiful twins, our marriage, our lives together." He kissed her, "and you have to read one more thing. The last part of the gift."

He handed her the letter he wrote, watching as she immediately flopped onto the rug to read it. He sat on the couch behind her, waiting for her reaction. He was surprised when she sat up on her knees and crawled towards him. Laying her head on his knees, she looked up at him, smiling.

"I love you, you're the best husband." Her voice was soft, instantly warming him from the inside.

"I love you, Kagome. To know you my whole life, and grow with you is the greatest honor."

Kagome smiled, reaching up and untying the linen pants he was wearing. He groaned softly, realizing what she was doing and instantly hardening at the hypothesis.

"Kagome…" He warned

"Oh, please," she giggled softly, "it's not like I'm going to climb you like a tree….today…"

"You have 6 weeks." He reminded himself.

"5," Kagome corrected as she kissed his thighs, sliding his linen pants down to his knees, "just 5…more…weeks…" she sighed as she swirled her tongue around the tip of his cock.

He groaned softly, letting his hands find her head as she filled her mouth with him. He reveled in her soft touch, her mouth, her tongue. It was going to be a long 6 weeks for the both of them, and the last thing he would ever do is compromise her health and healing. He didn't even want to ask her for what she was doing now, since there was no way he could reciprocate.

"Don't think about that," Kagome murmured, "making you happy makes me happy, too."

"Oh love," he moaned as he felt himself slipping down her throat, "you make me so…happy."

She hummed against him, bobbing her head until his breathing became labored. When she felt he was close, she pulled a move she knew he loved, swirling around her tongue while bobbing her head quickly, swallowing everything he gave her. When she pulled away and sat back on her knees, he immediately leaned down to kiss her passionately.

"I love you," he whispered, "I love you."

"I love you more," Kagome grinned, standing up and heading to the bedroom.

Sesshomaru followed, pulling up his pants and heading to his closet to gather pajamas. Kagome slipped off her dress, and put on the pajama shirt she was wearing the night before. She washed her makeup off and slid into bed, checking on the twins. They were sleeping peacefully, so she pulled out her phone. He kissed both of his children's heads before heading to the shower, releasing his hair from the ponytail it was in.

In the shower, Sesshomaru thought about what Hiro and Shynah thought to send to Kagome for her birthday. They sent gifts maybe every other year, and he wasn't surprised that they decided to send things this year- with how loud they've been about everything else. A few years ago, Shynah sent over a box of weight loss medications and supplements, some illegal. The birthday card said "You need it!" That was the year Hiro sent 7 pairs of panties that Kagome wore as a child. They still had her name written in them from taking them to Camp during the summer. It was disgusting and Kagome immediately threw them into the bonfire they were having smores over. Sesshomaru could imagine all sorts of terrible things they could send this time, and he reminded himself to check Shynah's social media to see if she's posted about it. He hoped they'd accidentally send something sentimental that Kagome would actually appreciate. They'd sent the letters from Haru as a "Fuck you", but it was something Kagome and Souta cherished. Maybe they'll send something else of Haru's. If they did, it would help the case he asked Inuyasha and his father to start about the rest of Haru's things. Shynah and Hiro have everything locked in expensive storage units that Kagome pays for but has no access to. It's time for the access to change, and for Kagome and Souta to get everything their Father left behind. Breadcrumbing them wasn't right.

He stepped out of the shower and dried himself off, pulling on the pajama pants he'd picked out. Brushing his teeth and washing his face, he sighed, he felt so grateful for his life. The view he saw warmed his heart. Kagome was scrolling through movies with Haru in her arms feeding, Rin was fast asleep on his side of the bed. He lifted his tiny daughter into his arms and slipped under the covers.

"Did Rin eat?" he asked softly.

"Yea, she woke up first. Ru's almost done."

"Ru, huh?" Sesshomaru smiled, "that sounds familiar."

"I have two Ru's now," Kagome smiled, "and y'all are gonna be kangaroos for Halloween."

Sesshomaru laughed, "whatever you want my love. Let's watch Donnie."

That made Kagome laugh, "The halloween spirit descends on us."

She kissed the top of Haru's head before setting him back down in his bassinet next to her side of the bed before starting the movie, keeping the volume extremely low. She flittered between watching the movie and scrolling on her phone, as Sesshomaru rocked Rin into a sound sleep before setting her back into her bassinet.

As Sesshomaru watched Donnie Darko on almost-silent, Kagome put away her phone and dimmed the lamp next to her bed and Haru's bassinet. There was a letter from her dad labeled, "26th birthday". She took a deep breath before opening it. Her father's handwriting looked like it always did, exactly how she remembered.

My Sweet Girl,

You are a young woman now. You probably think it's silly that you still get these letters with your birthday cards each year. The birthday cards seem more relevant to what you're going through, and you're only 10 years old as I'm writing this for your 26th birthday. You had another ballerina party, complete with performances from your ballet teachers. Your mom wanted Gucci, which is silly for a 10 year old. I'm thrilled that you are so strong-willed and screamed 'NO' in her face about it. My tough girl never backs down.

I hope you've lived dreams, and live them every day. I hope you went to school, doing something you love. I hope you still dance, photograph, sing. I hope you're still my little rock star.

What I know is that you are surrounded by love. The friends you've made so far, those Tashio boys, Eri, Auymi, and Kikyo, I can tell they simply adore you. You are such a good friend. A caring, nurturing big sister, and a brilliant daughter. I have loved you since I knew you were here, and I'll love you beyond time.

You're a firecracker, sweet girl, and I know you'll set the world on fire.

You are my whole world, you and your brother.

Love,

Daddy

PS- that little crush you have on Sessh is so cute. I hope you both have admitted your feelings by now ;)

Kagome giggled, catching Sesshomaru's attention.

"What'd your Dad say?" He asked softly.

"That the crushes we had on each other were obvious to literally everyone except for us." Kagome leaned over and kissed him again, "and Shynah wanted a Gucci party for a 10 year old."

"He wrote that letter on your 10th birthday?" Sesshomaru yawned, kissing her cheek, "he was a very thoughtful man."

"Yea," Kagome smiled, putting the letter back in the envelope and onto her nightstand, "he really was very thoughtful and sentimental. I'm glad my husband is a sweet, thoughtful, and sentimental man, too. Even if it is a secret."

"It's reserved for the very few close ones," he watched her turn off the lamp and snuggle into him, "with openings only for our children, present and future."

"Mmm, true," she yawned again, "I love you."

"I love you, my perfect wife. Happy birthday," he kissed her head, "let me take the early feeding."

"If you wake up, sure," Kagome kissed his chest before drifting to sleep, Sesshomaru quickly following, lulled by the sounds of his wife and childrens soft sleepy breaths.

*That's all folks! That's it for this chapter. Kagome's birthday's all done so it'll be chill for a bit before things pop off around Sesshomaru's birthday. I really appreciate y'all taking the time to read my stories! I know it's been SO long but I'm working on these for ya! Let me know what y'all think! –Inu'sgurl97 *
