This chapter will be the last for the Insomniac plot, and you'll see the changes I decided to make.
Now, after this will be one more chapter.
But fear not; there will be a third story!
I own nothing from Spider-Man, or Marvel
Chapter 23: Setting Things Right
Ned gave Betty a portal to the building where the Osborn penthouse was, and she entered the first floor lobby. Strangely, the place was full of residents.
"Excuse me, what's going on?" she asked the receptionist. "This place seems busy."
"Residents have been asked to temporarily vacate their units while Sable International performs a security sweep," The receptionist answered.
But...they'd been waiting for two hours, and the penthouse wasn't receiving the same treatment! Betty just knew people wouldn't be happy about this, and she was right. One woman called Norman "An arrogant cockroach in a starched suit". She saw where the security room was, but there was a guard. Since the residents were already upset, maybe they could provide a distraction if they were more riled up. So, she told one guy who left his inhaler in his unit that he could go if he had a medical emergency, told a woman who was worried about getting sick that the receptionist had been coughing, and people who were talking shit about Osborn and that he's "exempt" from this security sweep.
With that, a large group of people gathered directly by the doors to the security room. The guard called out another to help him diffuse the situation. Betty snuck by him, now in the hallway with the security rooms. She found a stun gun, used it to knock out a few Sable Agents, then activated the alarm for the penthouse. She saw Sable and Norman on one of the monitors, then Harry came in. Betty snuck back into the lobby, making sure no one saw her, then saw a couple Sable Agents exit the penthouse elevator, with Silver, Norman, and Harry.
Betty got out her phone and texted,
"Okay MJ, coast is clear!"
Michelle entered the penthouse via a portal provided by Ned.
Just as she started looking around, she got a random text from Harry,
"You'll need to know...0718."
She didn't understand what that meant, but didn't dwell on it. First thing she found was a medical report about Emily Osborn's sickness...it was genetic?! Did Harry ever have himself tested?
On the patio was a tree that Emily had planted when Harry was born, and apparently Norman was still caring for it. On a table between two chairs was a tape recorder.
Michelle picked it up and pressed "play".
"Happy birthday, dear," Norman's voice spoke. "Sorry I'm a little late. It's been a busy month. I miss you, Em...especially today. I've put Andy...I've sent him away...for treatment. We'll fix him, Em. I promise. Development of GR-27 was too slow to save you; it won't fail Andy."
'Whoa; Pete said that Devil's Breath was meant to be a cure for genetic diseases,' thought Michelle. 'Is this why it's so personal for Norman? And, who the hell is Andy?'
She went back to exploring the penthouse, and went to where Norman's desk was. In one of the drawers was a photo a very young Harry with Emily, Norman, and...a little boy that looked similar to Harry, but different.
'Is this Andy...wait, is he Harry's kid brother?!'
There was a large portrait of Norman and Harry on the wall, with a plaque next to it. Michelle took a closer look and discovered that the plaque flipped open, revealing a secret keypad! Is this why Harry texted her that code? Time to find out! She entered the numbers, which opened a secret door in the wall, and inside was a high-tech laboratory!
"Whoa...!" Michelle whispered in awe as she looked around.
There were glass cages spread over the place, like the kind you'd see pet reptiles in. But...these ones had spiders in them!
'Is Norman trying to reverse engineer Peter's powers?'
She found another recorder by a computer, and played it.
Norman's voice spoke again, "The whole project has gone to hell. GR-27 is a cure, not a disease. But try telling that to the evening news. Somehow, they've picked up the technicians' morbid nickname - "Devil's Breath" - and are using it to stoke hysteria. They have no idea what it's really capable of - a cure for cancer, genetic disorders, birth defects... With just a little more research I know we could perfect it. Instead, I'll spend the next 18 months on PR mop up. What a waste of time..."
'Well, that's what happens.'
Michelle went over to the large holo-table in the center of the lab.
She turned it on, bringing up a 3-D holo-map; it looked like the Upper West Side. After cycling through the settings, the map revealed that Norman was tracking Dr. Michaels' movements; which made sense.
He was currently at an Oscorp Records building, guarded by Sable Bravo Team.
'10th and Cathedral...isn't that...' Michelle checked the computer to verify on a city map. 'Yes, 10th and Cathedral; Oscorp's Records Department! Great place to hide a secret biotech facility.'
But then she noticed a list of files on the right side of the screen, and one of them said...
"'GR-27 - Martin Li Incident'?" she whispered, then opened it.
An old video started playing, the date said it was from September 17, 1994. On screen was a Chinese couple standing with their son, who was wearing a hospital gown, and hooked to an IV. Norman left the room to stand next to someone on the other side of some observation glass. The boy seemed to have a bad reaction as the mother started panicking! The father yelled at Norman and his companion, who, judging from his voice was Otto Octavius! Otto wanted to go in, but Norman stopped him! Both parents went to their son, who turned...photo-negative, and released a burst of energy, zapping his parents and the camera man!
"What have you done?" Otto questioned in horror.
"Oh my god...!" Michelle whispered in horror. "Norman and Otto...they started this...they made Li what he is...!"
She pulled a USB Drive out of her pocket, plugged it into the keyboard and started copying the file. As she did, she noticed another cage on the desk, and the spider inside it was looking at her. It jumped at the glass, startling her, making her back up and knock over another cage, breaking it!
Thankfully, this happened a few seconds before Norman, Harry, Sable and her agents returned to the penthouse; Michelle heard them thanks to her enhanced hearing. The download finished, she removed the drive, then texted Ned that she was ready to get out. A portal opened near her and she stepped through, now back at F.E.A.S.T.
Once the portal closed, Ned asked, "That was pretty awesome!"
"Did you find out where the lab is?" Betty asked.
Michelle sat down and took a few deep breaths, "That...and more..."
She then told to Ned and Betty about her findings.
"I...I need a minute...!" he leaned against one of the tables.
"Harry...has a brother...?" Betty gasped. "He's sick...which is why Norman created Devil's Breath...and Li...?"
"I know, it's so much to take in..." Michelle sighed. "We can ask Harry for more details once this is all over. Right now, Peter needs to know where the lab is."
She called him, told him everything she found, which made him stop on a vacant roof.
"Holy shit..." he muttered.
"I know," Michelle said.
"I need to try to reach Li and Otto...make them give up this crusade for revenge," Peter said. "They've done so much good; they can't ruin their legacies just to spite Norman."
"Good luck," she told him, then hung up. Little did she know, a spider from Norman's lab was crawling on her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Scene Change~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Peter made his way to Oscorp's Records building, he called Yuri.
"Please tell me there's good news."
"There is; Oscorp has an antiserum."
"Thank god," Yuri sighed in relief. "How quickly can we get it to people?"
"I'm on my way to find out. The lab is at 10th and Cathedral."
"I just got a report of a helicopter going down in that area."
"Oh no! Hope that wasn't Norman's!"
"I'd send some officers with you, but I can't spare any," she stated.
"Don't worry, I've got this."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Scene Change~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mister Negative and his Inner Demons stood at the entrance to Oscorp's Records Department. One of the Demons used a keycard to open the doors and gun-pellets from Sable Agents inside flew at them! Li blasted them with energy, then had two of his men drag Norman inside and he followed.
Peter arrived a minute later and incapacitated all the other Demons Li had stationed outside the building. But as he did, Sable called him...
"Spider-Man: leave now. My men will handle this."
"Li already wiped out your agents stationed here," he told her. "They're not handling anything."
"You've been warned, superhero." And she hung up.
Once the Demons were dealt with, Sable Agents showed up to take him down! Peter dealt with them as quickly as he could, then went over to the front door. As he struggled to pull it open, his spider-sense warned him of more pellets being shot at him, courtesy of Silver! He dodged them, but she kicked him against the door!
"You and your vigilante friends harass my men, destroy my equipment, and cost my client millions," she growled. "Give me one good reason not to kill you right now."
"Listen - I don't you, you don't like me," he said. "But Li has your client in there and he's gonna kill him if we don't do something. We can fight Li or we can fight each other..."
He waited for Silver to make her decision, making no moves to fight her. Begrudgingly, she holstered her pistols and opened the doors with her keycard.
"Does this mean we're cool?"
"You help me secure Norman," she told him. "After that: I make no promises."
Peter shrugged, "Works for me."
Before they could enter, bullets of dark energy flew by their heads, courtesy of more Inner Demons showing up!
"You secure Osborn, I'll deal with them," she said before running outside.
"Nice to have her on my side," Peter muttered, then made his way through the building.
The place was wrecked Li's energy; so many floors and walls had holes blasted through them!
As Peter went down, he called out, "Martin?! I know about the accident that killed your parents!"
"The accident?" Li questioned. "You sound as clinical as Osborn. My parents died because of Osborn did to me!"
Peter couldn't see him, but he knew he was there,
"You're more than your past, Martin! Don't let it control you!"
"I tried so hard to make my parents proud, to honor their legacy," Li continued. "But to truly honor them, Osborn must see justice."
Peter heard a scream of pain in the distance!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Scene Change~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dr. Michaels used a computer to open a cold storage unit for serums, then grabbed a small glass vial filled with blue liquid. The label on it said "GR-27 ANTISERUM".
"This is the only sample," he stated before Mister Negative took it.
Then, he backhanded Michaels to the floor!
"No!" Norman pleaded. "Martin...I told you, I'm sorry!"
Li picked up a sword and imbued with energy.
"It was an accident!" Norman kept pleading. "I was trying to help you!"
One demon grabbed hold of him as Li approached him.
"You don't help people," he growled. "You use them."
He burned Norman's neck with the tip of his sword, then raised it to strike him down, but a web-strand stopped him!
"Martin!" Peter pleaded as Li broke free. "This won't bring your parents back."
Li had a brief look of realization before turning angry,
"Why do you insist on trying to save this piece of scum?"
"I'm trying to save you, Martin. Don't let revenge win."
Li contemplated his words for a minute, but then blasted him back with his energy! Peter went threw some glass, but was mostly unharmed! Li jumped at him with his sword, which he avoided, and the blade released a small burst of energy when it hit the floor!
"Osborn must be punished; his cancer has infected this city for too long!" Li said as Peter dodged his sword attacks!
"Osborn deserves true justice; he won't see it unless you stop now!"
"I'll never stop!"
Peter punched and kicked him several times, before he blocked Li trying to grab his head with his energy infused hand!
"This...isn't...you...!"
Li knocked him back, "This is exactly who I am!"
He sent some waves of energy at the web-head, who did his best to avoid them and attack when he got the chance! Eventually, Martin collapsed to his knees and held his head!
"Fight it, Martin!" Peter begged. "You can walk away!"
"NO! Osborn must SUFFER!" Li unleashed the Demon, which created more shadow-people for Peter to fight!
He grabbed some broken objects with his webs and threw them at the Demon, making it disappear! He then zapped Li with his taser webs and threw a metal tank at him, knocking him down! Li briefly returned to normal before going negative again and summoned the Demon! Peter avoided it's clawed hand as it tried to grab him, then jumped at Li and kicked him in the face! Li rolled onto the floor, defeated, and the Demon disappeared! The Inner Demons with Norman and Dr. Michaels passed out when the Demon vanished.
Peter approached the defeated Martin, slowly.
"Osborn needs to pay..." he insisted, weakly.
"I know..." Peter agreed as he took the antiserum from him. "But this is the wrong way, Martin."
Then they heard a crash above them; it sounded like something big was breaking through the walls! Soon, it was revealed to be Octavius!
"Useless," he griped before smacking Martin into a wall with one of his arms!
Peter held back the pincers of the arm that attacked him while two of his spider-arms held back the other! Thankfully, he still had the cure in his hands!
"Fascinating suit," Octavius actually praised.
Peter's spare spider-arms held back Otto's third arm, but with nothing to stop the fourth; it slammed him into a wall! It then slammed him into another wall, then grabbed him by his head and slammed him into the floor, knocking him unconscious!
Octavius took the cure from him as it slipped from his grip.
"Otto?"
He looked up to see Norman, with a look of disbelief on his face. Octavius climbed up him, smiling triumphantly.
"That look on your face. You can't imagine how satisfying it is."
He wrapped his lower left arm around Norman!
"Ready for your final act?" He carried him as he climbed out of the hole he created in the ceiling!
Sable came in a minute later, along with some of her Agents and Dr. Michaels. They went over to check the injured hero.
"Hey," Sable gently shook him, making him stir a little. "Still alive, good."
"He needs a hospital," Dr. Michaels said.
"No...no hospital..." Peter muttered, weakly. "F.E.A.S.T..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Scene Change~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The second Sable and Dr. Michaels came in with an injured Peter on their shoulders; May cleared a vacant bed for him!
"I need to your head doctor," Michaels said.
May turned and called, "DESIREE!"
Said woman rushed over, "Oh no! How bad is he?"
"I can give a rundown," Karen stated.
May and Miles gathered whatever medical supplies Desirée and Michaels said what they needed.
Peter came to and muttered to Sable, "Thank...you..."
"You can thank me by not dying," she responded.
Michelle appeared and gasped, "Oh my god...!"
Half an hour to forty-five minutes later; Desirée finished patching Peter up. She approached her daughter, who had watched the whole thing.
"How is he?"
"He'll live," The doctor assured her. "But he needs rest...after he stops Octavius."
She already knew he was gonna leave, no matter what.
As predicted, Peter started trying to get up, so Michelle went over to help him.
"And where do you think you're going?" May questioned her nephew.
"Otto has the antiserum..." he told her. "I need to get it back..."
May wanted to argue, but she knew trying to talk him out of it was pointless. She glanced at Michelle, who's eyes looked desperate and pleading.
"Okay, but please be careful..." Then May walked off.
"What was that look about?" Peter asked his girlfriend.
Michelle took a deep breath, "It's my dad..."
"...It's gotten worse, hasn't it?"
"Peter...they said he could die at any minute..." Michelle answered, trying and failing to keep her voice from breaking.
Now, things were more desperate. Michelle had just reconnected with her father, and Peter would be damned if he let her lose him! But, getting the cure from Otto wouldn't be easy...
"I don't know if I can beat Octavius..."
"Maybe you can't," Michelle said. "Maybe Spider-Man needs help from Peter Parker."
"What?"
"Peter helped build those arms, so he should be able to find a weakness," she explained.
Peter's eyes widened before he put his hand to his chin in thought.
After he stood up, Michelle kissed his cheek, wishing him luck. As she watched him leave, she failed to notice the spider crawl off of her. Nearby, Miles was looking through some boxes for something.
Once he found what he was looking for...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Scene Change~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"OW!" He smacked the top of his right hand, seeing that he'd just killed a spider. Did it just bite him?
As Peter swung toward the Stark Industries lab where he and Otto worked, he got a very unexpected call...
"Spider-Man? Hello?"
"Sable?"
"I must leave New York," she said. "Recent events...give me pause. Your rescue of Osborn, despite his corruption...it affected me. I must return home, reflect on this life I choose."
"Wow," Peter was...surprised. "I'm actually gonna miss you and your Storm Troopers."
"Unfortunately, my agents are staying. Though I question our work, they do not, and Osborn continues to pay. I am sorry."
"Damn; so close to being full good news."
"Indeed. I will miss you and your bizarre witticisms, Spider-Man. Until we meet again."
Then she hung up.
"That is a strange woman," Peter muttered as he reached the lab.
He went in and saw blueprints for Otto's arms and the Interface taped to the walls.
"We made something amazing, doc..." he sighed. "But now I have to destroy it..."
He took off his Iron Spider suit, then got to work on making a new suit to fight Octavius with. Once it was finished, it felt perfect! It was colored black with yellow highlights, featuring a large yellow spider insignia as well as glowing yellow eye lenses!
He got a notification on his phone, showing a breaking news report at Oscorp Tower.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Scene Change~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Otto climbed up along the building's windows, using his arms to get higher and higher. Norman was still clutched in one of his arms.
Once they reached the roof, Norman said, "You want me to beg? Not gonna happen."
Otto chuckled, "The world will know the truth before they mop you off the pavement." His arm squeezed Norman tighter, making him scream in pain, then he had one of his other arms take his phone and started recording.
"Tell them what you did."
"I...never..." Norman started, before he was held further over the edge!
"Everything you have is built on lies!" Otto yelled angrily. "LIES!"
Otto dropped Norman and let a fall a few feet before catching him! He then brought him back up.
"You stole my company, my ideas..." Otto stated. "Now...the truth."
Norman panted as he dangled upside-down...before he snarled hatefully at Otto.
"The truth?" he asked. "Okay...the truth is...you were only ever worth a DAMN when you were working for ME! The truth is...you could never accept THAT I WAS BETTER THAN YOU!"
Otto snarled, growing more and more furious.
"YOU'RE A FAILURE, OTTO!" Norman yelled with a defiant, smug grin. "AND YOU ALWAYS WILL BE!"
Otto dropped him shouting in rage, then turned away! Norman screamed as he fell...but he was caught and dropped on another roof!
"You know, it was very tempting to just let you hit the ground!" Spider-Man's voice commented before vaulting up Oscorp Tower until he got to the roof! "Give me the antiserum! Otto: you worked your whole life to help people. Please..."
However, Otto tightly clutched the vial in his hands before he used his extra arms to slowly tower over Peter.
"You're fighting... the wrong man," he said, "But have it your way."
His arms tried to grab the hero, but he dodged and fired webs at the doctor!
"We don't have much time- please!" Peter pleaded.
"I'll turn over the antiserum when Osborn pays for his crimes!" Otto yelled before jumping toward Peter, who got out of the way to avoid being crushed! He kept firing webs until Octavius was tangled up, then jumped onto him, delivered a few good punches to his face, then web-slingshot slammed him to the ground!
"Just give me the antiserum! You've already done enough to ruin Osborn!"
"NO!" Otto yelled as he got up and tried to grab at Peter. "He always bounces back! He has to lose EVERYTHING!"
Peter fired two web-lines at Octavius, which he blocked with his arms, then pulled the hero toward him! Peter maneuvered to deliver a double kick to his face before he backflipped away! Otto tried to grab Peter with his arms, but he kept dodging!
"I see you have a new suit. It won't help..."
At his next arm lunge, Peter wrapped his legs around the arm, then actually threw him into the large antennae on the roof!
"You sure about that?"
The battle went on as Otto tried to grab Peter, but the he kept tangling up his arms before he could strike, then went all out with melee attacks!
"People are dying! They need the antiserum, now!" Peter pleaded.
"I'll cure this city after I bring down Osborn!" Otto argued as they kept fighting!
"Let me save the city- then we can do whatever you want!"
"I already know what I want! Now get out of my way before I really hurt you!"
Peter made one of Otto's arms slam into him!
"Give me the antiserum and I promise Osborn will face charges."
"Liar! Just like Osborn- nothing but lies!"
Octavius went over to the antennae, climbed up it and started pulling the wires out! This made flames shoot out of the exhausts on the roof!
Peter web-swung from the antennae, avoiding getting hit by pieces of broken machinery that Octavius kept throwing at him! He grabbed one with his webs and threw it back at the doctor, then zipped over to him! He climbed onto his back and reached for his neck to disable the interface, but Octavius's arms grabbed his wrists and slammed him into the antennae! Peter tried firing more webs, but his web-shooters were crushed!
Otto tried to grab the web-head, but he kept moving around, until part of his mask got torn off! Peter inspected the damage with his back to the doctor, who said...
"Such a disappointment...Parker."
Peter's eyes widened.
"You...you knew?" he asked.
"I warned you, Peter," Otto snarled. "But you didn't listen."
"You knew!"
The fact Octavius had known that he was Spider-Man the whole time just made this betrayal hurt worse.
"I won't let you win," Otto tried to grab him, but he climbed up higher. "This means too much to me!"
Peter seethed as he glared bitterly at Otto. All the lies...the betrayal...it was all too much! This was worse than when Quinten Beck betrayed him: Beck was a liar from the beginning, but Otto had actually been a friend!
"Not more than it means to me!"
He jumped onto Octavius, but his arms held on to the antennae, until Peter tore the bottom left one off with his foot! Still, the constant increase in weight, plus the force of Otto's arms grabbing it, caused the antennae's roof hinges to come loose! Peter and Otto fell over the edge of the roof, and the antennae fell just behind them!
Soon, the antenna collided with the building, but Peter and Otto both managed to cling to the side as the building exploded from all around...but at this point, neither of them cared.
Right now...all they cared about was settling this, once and for all!
"Can't you see all the people you're hurting?!" Peter questioned as he delivered a couple punches to Otto's face!
"You'll never understand!" he responded, grabbing him. "You haven't suffered like I have!"
After getting slammed into the windows, Peter did a vault-kick to Otto's midsection!
"You should be on my side!"
"I was...!"
Peter's punches and kicks eventually knocked off Otto's goggles!
"You look tired, Parker."
"Not tired," he maneuvered around Otto and dodging his arms. "Just hurt."
He got on Otto's back, but one of his arms grabbed him and pinned to the wall!
"URGH!" Peter grunted as he struggled to break free. But then he held back another arm as it's pinchers snapped at his face!
"Otto! Stop!" Peter begged before one of the pincers stabbed him in the top right part of his chest! "AAAAAAAAAARRGH!"
Otto rose up to right beside him, "Oh, Parker. If you want to change the world...you have to be the kind of man who can make the hardest decisions."
"I couldn't...agree...MORE!"
Peter drove the pincer deeper into his shoulder, then reached behind Otto's neck and unhooked the interface!
"NO! NOOOOO!" The doctor screamed as Peter pulled the pincher out of his shoulder! With the arms now disabled, Otto fell! Thankfully, he landed on something that sent him through a broken window of the building, crashing into an empty laboratory!
Peter landed just behind him, then picked up the antiserum. And thank God, the vial wasn't broken.
He sighed in relief...but also from exhaustion.
Otto grabbed his wrist, "Peter... I saw you as a son... I should've known you'd turn on me, just like all the others."
"Turn on you?" Peter questioned. "I looked up to you! Your mind, your conscience, wanting to help others, the way you never gave up!"
"That's because men like us have a duty, a responsibility, to use our talents in the service of others," Otto said. "Even if they don't appreciate it."
"I know that! But what you did was to settle a vendetta, and you hurt people in the process! Even if Osborn deserves it, this was the wrong way."
"I know, you're right. Norman will eventually ruin himself...but I just couldn't wait..."
Peter let go of some of his anger, "I'll do everything I can to help your condition, so you won't need the interface. But...you still need to pay for what you've done..."
Otto looked sad, but resigned, "I know... And don't worry; your secret is safe with me."
Peter nodded, then left. When the police and Sable Agents arrived to arrest Otto, he didn't even try to resist.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Scene Change~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now back at F.E.A.S.T., Peter had changed into his civilian clothes, and was holding some gauze against his bleeding shoulder. Dr. Michaels examined the antiserum under a microscope, Desirée standing next to him.
"It's still viable- but we'll need the entire sample as a base to produce more doses," Michaels said.
"How long will that take?" Michelle asked, her voice breaking.
"Few hours- maybe a day," Michaels answered.
Desirée looked devastated; Craig didn't have that long. Peter asked the question everyone was afraid to ask.
"What if we use it to cure someone right now?"
Michaels shook his head, "Then there won't be enough to cure the others."
That's when the gravity of the situation really hit him: it was either Michelle's father...or the city.
Michaels walked out, giving them a few minutes.
"Em-?" Peter started, but she just held up her hand. Her eyes were already red and glossy. This had to be the hardest decision she ever had to make. She knew that her father wasn't perfect, but he was still her father...but there was also the rest of her friends and family who had been affected, not to mention the rest of the city.
She didn't want her father to die, but she also didn't want others to die because of her indecisiveness.
Desirée went over to her, "Honey..."
"I know..." she sobbed.
Peter looked at where Craig was bedridden, then he glanced at the vial with the antiserum. He made a motion to pick it up...but he stopped himself, taking a long, shaky breath.
"MJ, I'm so sorry..."
Michelle sniffed as she put her head against Peter's chest...but then...
"Michelle..." Craig called, weakly, causing Michelle to glance back at him. "Come here...please."
She went over and took his hand.
"I'm sorry, for everything," he muttered. "Despite what I put you through, you became a better person than me, and I am so proud of you for it."
"...Dad...!" Michelle whimpered.
"...Don't waste the antiserum on me," Craig said.
Desirée was comforting Caleb, who was already crying into her shoulder.
"I just hope that what I've done these last few days...was enough to save my soul..."
Michelle screwed her eyes shut, letting out a sob.
"...Peter," Craig said, getting his attention. "Take care of my baby girl, understand? She needs you."
"...I promise," Peter said, trying not to go into tears, himself.
"...Daddy...!" Michelle cried as her boyfriend took her in his arms, and sobbed into his shoulder.
Craig closed his eyes...the heart monitor beeped a few more times...then flatlined...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Scene Change~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dr. Michaels, Desirée, May, and Miles had set up an Antiserum Station by Central Park, where everyone went to get vaccinated for the citywide outbreak. The last few escaped convicts were caught by Daredevil and White Tiger. Despite literally going to hell; Manhattan was on the road to recovery. Thankfully, this wasn't nearly as bad as The Blip.
A funeral was held for Craig...
Michelle was standing with her family while she held Anya, and Peter was at her side. So were Ned, Betty, Harry, Ava, Kate, May, Caleb, Desirée, Miles and Rio.
Otto Octavius was taken to Tartarus, along with the rest of the Sinister Six. Otto knew his actions were extreme, and maybe he did go too far. But even though he was willing to pay for his crimes; his hatred of Norman Osborn was still there.
Half a week after the city was cured, everyone asked Harry about his brother.
He took a deep breath, "Yeah...so, you guys have probably figured out that Devil's Breath was made to help my brother..."
"Which you never said anything about!" Ned pointed out.
"I think it'd be hard to talk about a family member that's terminally ill," Michelle remarked.
Harry nodded, "My brother, Andy, got the same thing mom had-"
"Did you ever get tested?" Peter asked.
"I don't need to, cause Emily wasn't my birth mother, but she was the only mother I ever knew. My real mother died giving birth to me..."
"I'm sorry, Harry," said Ava.
"It's fine. Anyway, five years later, my brother was born. We were always close, but we had disagreements, as all siblings do. We actually wanted to be environmental lawyers together...but then he got sick...and dad sent him away a few years ago for treatment."
"I'm guessing it was a big shock to find out your dad created something so deadly, but was meant to be something good," Betty stated. "Especially since you knew what, or rather who it was made for."
"It...it shook me, I'll admit," Harry replied.
"So, you're an illegitimate son of Norman Osborn," Kate stated instead of asked.
Harry shrugged, "Yeah, and dear old dad spent almost a fortune to cover it up. He made it seem like Emily gave birth to me, but despite me not being her biological son; she loved and raised me as her own."
"Well, that should be enough, right?" asked Michelle.
Harry nodded, "As for Andy, wherever dad sent him for treatment; I haven't been able to contact him. His phone always goes straight to voicemail."
"That must have been when you realized something was up, huh?" Michelle asked.
"Yeah. Dad always said he was too tired, or the place didn't have good Wi-Fi."
"Well, wherever he is; we know he's getting the best treatment possible," Ava stated.
"I hope so," said Harry.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~Half a week later~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"And you can't ask your mom about because...?" Michelle asked incredulously.
"Cause it's awkward talking to your mom about asking out a girl!" Miles protested.
Michelle laughed, not in a mocking way, but a teasing/sympathetic way.
"Okay, haha," Miles said. "Seriously, what do I do?"
"Well, I think the most important thing is if you know each other well enough," she answered. "It also depends on the way that you ask her. But, I'm not an expert."
"You sure about that?" Mile asked with a smirk.
"Hey, I may be a girl, but I don't know EVERYTHING about what a girl likes," Michelle pointed out.
"Yeah, MJ's never been a "girly-girl"," Peter commented as he came in.
Michelle smirked as she stood up and kissed his cheek.
Miles took a deep breath, "There's something else I wanna talk about... In fact, um...you know what...I'll just show you."
He jumped up to the ceiling and stuck to it, looking at them upside-down!
Peter and Michelle looked a little surprised.
"It's pretty weird, right?" Miles asked, smiling.
Peter chuckled before he also jumped up to stick to the ceiling,
"Not that weird."
Peter glanced at Michelle, who rolled her eyes before jumping to the ceiling as well.
"What?! How?!" Miles stammered.
"I got powers while I was pregnant," she said.
All three of them dropped to the floor.
"Have you broken anything?" Michelle asked.
Miles cringed, "I...may've squirted a big glob of toothpaste onto my bathroom mirror, pulled off a doorknob, and my fingers have stuck to things." (1)
Peter nodded, "Yeah, a couple of those things happened to me."
"You gotta be more gentle with things now that you're stronger than you used to be," Michelle said.
"Thanks for the heads up," Miles pointed out. "Hey, why don't you guys train me!"
"Slow down there, cowboy," Michelle chuckled. "You're still in school, so you should focus on that."
"She's right," said Peter. "You can't just jump into this stuff."
Miles sighed, "I know, but, like...when did you start?"
"When I was fourteen, and I nearly got myself killed over a dozen times," Peter answered. "I can't let that to happen to you."
"Alright, I get it."
"But that doesn't mean it's never gonna happen," Peter promised. "Just in baby steps."
"He's right," said Michelle. "You'll get your chance, someday."
1. Andrew Garfield did that in his first movie! XD
So, that's the plot twist for Harry; he has a half brother who's sick with what Harry has in the game universe. And...Michelle's father died instead of May, but in the end; he redeemed himself.
And did you all hear; the official name of "Spider-Man 4" is the same as this story! And "No Way Home" was already loosely based off "One More Day", which was universally hated by everyone, and the movie had a worse outcome than the comic. Now the movie after it is named for one of the comics that came after that issue that everyone hated? What is Marvel Studios thinking?!
Read and review, please!
