Voices were all blurred around Brooklyn, his ears ringing and vision completely black. He attempted to open his eyes, but could only open one.

Brooklyn saw that he was somehow back in Gothi's hut, lying down on a bed with a blanket covering him up, hearing a soft churring noise from close by. He turned his head weakly, spotting his dragon Voltwing there, feeling really confused.

"Unh... V-Voltwing? W-where 'm I?" Brooklyn groaned, struggling to sit up but felt himself pushed back down by Gothi.

The elder gave him a gentle but saddened smile, holding out a bowl of herbal soup for him. "You were beaten up badly young one." She said, deciding to speak only to Brooklyn.

Brooklyn raised his brow, raising a weak hand and felt some bandages covering his left eye, now realizing why he could only see out of his right one, feeling himself begin to panic, remembering someone. "S-Sorath... I-I must..."

Voltwing cooed, nuzzling him as if sensing his stress while Gothi interrupted Brooklyn by having him drink the medicine, shushing the former gargoyle. "Don't move now. Sorath is safe. But I'm afraid that during the battle, you lost an eye." She said in pity, stroking Brooklyn's head.

It caused the second to sigh slightly in relief, but kept rubbing where his left eye was in sadness. He eventually petted Voltwing's muzzle, having more questions. "Are we... back on Berk? And why is Voltwing here in your hut?"

Gothi gives a little chuckle, also petting Voltwing who kept up his purring from all the attention. "Stoick has accepted the dragons now Brooklyn. They are all living here in the village with us. You had been unconscious for a whole week since the Dragon Island battle.

Brooklyn stared in shock. "A-A whole WEEK?!" He croaked, feeling himself fall back down onto the bed, heart thumping, now feeling memories of that horrible queen dragon return to him, Gothi nodding. "Sorath had an injury just as bad as you. They had to remove his leg."

Hearing that made Brooklyn feel ready to throw up the soup he ate but soon sat up, Voltwing jerking slightly but still cooing. "Remove... his leg?! I-I got to see him!" Brooklyn demanded, trying to get up until eventually he heard footsteps at the door.

Before Gothi could attempt to stop Brooklyn from doing anything to hurt himself, the two saw Gobber in the entrance, his face looking a little guilty. But he did a little wave, making Brooklyn tense up from his presence, remembering the angry Viking mob before.

"Er, hi laddie. Just wanted to check in on ya." Gobber greets, having Voltwing stand in front of Brooklyn, baring his teeth and having a little bit of lighting come from his fangs, making Gobber hold his hand out. "Whoa, easy there. I'm not going to hurt him."

Voltwing continued to eye him in suspicion but soon heard the sincerity, relaxing down near his rider. Brooklyn held his blankets up to himself, frowning deeply while holding a hand over his eye bandages. Gobber at that moment pulled out what appeared to be an eye patch. "A gift. I found this in my workshop, figured you should have it, as an apology present."

Brooklyn raised his only eyebrow at the blacksmith before gingerly taking the patch. Gothi took off the bandages so they could get it on, Gobber wincing slightly from the sight of Brooklyn's missing left eye. "We had to take it out before any infection settled in Brooklyn. But this patch might help keep it from getting dirty."

Gothi managed to strap the patch around where the eye was, Brooklyn feeling it first before looking towards a mirror that was in Gothi's hut. Seeing himself with the patch on, Brooklyn felt like he wasn't looking at the same gargoyle/person. His stomach felt a little queasy before turning back to Gobber. "I'm willing to accept your apology Gobber. If... if the rest of the village will too." He said in a soft tone.

Gobber gives a little shrug. "Maybe most of them will, but not all. Especially that Mildew character." He said, making Brooklyn tense up from the name. He remembered that old man from one encounter who hadn't trusted Brooklyn right away. Perhaps one day he could win over Mildew too.

He saw the blacksmith hold out his hand. "Come on, Hiccup's been waitin' to see ya." Smiling weakly, Brooklyn took Gobber's hand gingerly, standing up, a little wobbly, especially since his left view was now all black.

Gobber steadied Brooklyn on his feet, guiding him up to his dragon and Voltwing knelt down, allowing his rider to get on. Brooklyn held the stirrup, the two going out the door. He figured now Voltwing can help him have full vision, petting his Skrill's neck. "Guess I gotta trust you even more than ever now, huh bud?"

Voltwing growled, almost looking like he was smiling in agreement, Gobber heading down the ladder while Voltwing took to the sky. Brooklyn held on, his eyes rounding from the lift off, Voltwing doing a simple fly down to the village below. Gothi watched, hoping the young one wouldn't hurt himself. She had known of gargoyles for a while, but was curious about him being a human. And was amazed at the sight of a gargoyle flying a dragon.

Once touching down, Brooklyn jumped off Voltwing, panting slightly but felt happy to be able to fly again, finding himself face to face with the village, flinching from the eyes on him.

Gobber at that moment had come down to join Brooklyn, taking his arm gently while some of the crowd both cheered and glared at him, Brooklyn seeing more dragons hanging out in the village, mostly of Nadders, Terrors, Nightmares, Zipplebacks and Gronckles. He made a weak wave. "Hi..."

That was when a voice came out, sounding irritated. "Are you all blind?! The gargoyle menace is still right here in the village! He could transform at any moment!"

Brooklyn jerked sharply from the voice, which happened to be Mildew. The old crone held his staff, glowering hatefully. "That boy is a demon! I would not trust him around your children! And his dragon is no better!" Mildew snapped stepping closer, making Brooklyn ball up his fists from his words.

Gobber glared right back. "Out of our way, Mildew. We're going to see Sorath! And he is now welcome in the village!" The smithy snapped, Mildew scoffing.

"Just you wait, Gobber! Them gargoyles are sly ones. They can pounce on a human at any moment. I say banish him!" Mildew demanded, Brooklyn backing up, causing Voltwing to roar, raising his wings but Brooklyn held out his hands. "No, Voltwing. He's not worth our time." He said lowly, narrowing his eyes hard at Mildew who rolls his eyes, stalking off, muttering under his breath while Brooklyn remained near Gobber.

The two of them finally reached Sorath's home, Gobber knocking on the door, Brooklyn unsure what he was gonna see, as Stoick answered, inviting them inside while Brooklyn had Voltwing remain outside for a while.

Stepping inside nervously, Brooklyn spotted Sorath's bed, and Sorath sitting up. He looked alright even after the Red Death fight, but something was different; Sorath only had one working leg now. His right leg was gone, replaced with a prosthetic.

Brook swallowed, staring in shock, looking over at Stoick who had a saddened face. "The leg was terribly mutilated after Toothless caught him, we had to cut it off like with your eye."

Sorath turned from their voices, grinning at the sight of Brooklyn while Toothless let out a warble, jumping forward like a dog and licking Brooklyn's face, causing the former gargoyle to laugh, stroking the Fury's nose. "It's great to see you buddy." He grins at Sorath too, who instantly got up with the help of Toothless to hug him tight.

The two best friends, no, now brothers, hugged each other, Stoick watching with some tears in his eyes, knowing now that gargoyles weren't monsters as much as he thought like with the dragons. He could see the humanity in Brooklyn, not just in his form.

Eventually Brooklyn and Sorath broke apart their hug, Brooklyn's eyes moistening with tears. "S-Sorath... I-I'm sorry you had to sacrifice something like your leg for this." He said softly, looking down at the metal prosthetic.

Sorath gives a light shrug. "At least it symbolizes what I went through to be friends with him." He replied, scratching Toothless on the head who warbled. Eventually the group had gone outside, revealing the Vikings and Dragons now living side by side in Berk, feeding stations in certain spots in the village, Brooklyn seeing a group of Nadders perching comfortably on a roof of a building.

That caused Sorath's eyes to pop from the sight. "I knew it... I'm dead!" He grunts, making Brooklyn snort slightly from humor as Stoick puts a large hand around his shoulders.

"No, but you gave it your best shot. So. What do you think?" He asked, the rest of the village all looking up, smiling at the sight of Sorath and greeting him. Stoick looks down proudly at Sorath. "Turned out all we needed was a little more of... this."

His hands had gestured to all of Sorath's body who looked up in awe. "You just gestured to all of me."

Brooklyn shrugs, nudging Sorath lightly. "It seems they're finally accepting of you." He states, while Gobber points at the prosthetic. "Well, most of you. That bit is my handiwork. With a little Hicc-sorry-Sorath flare thrown in. You think it'll do?"

Sorath shakes his prosthetic lightly. "Ah, it might make a few tweaks. And you Brook. Your eye?" He asked, pointing to the eyepatch causing Brooklyn to shrug again. "Nothing that I won't get used to." He responds.

Astrid at that moment showed up, punching Sorath on the shoulder, making him yelp out. "That's for scaring me!" She said.

Sorath blinked from that. "Wha-wait, is it always gonna be this way? This—!" He was cut off as Astrid suddenly kissed Sorath full on the lips.

Brooklyn's heart twanged from the sight. He knew he should be happy, but inside, the young gargoyle wished he could've won over a girl's heart during all of this chaos, looking away for a moment.

"I could get used to it..." Sorath said rather goofily, making Astrid smile back at him until there was rumbling from Sorath's house after Gobber gave him a new tail fin for Toothless, which was red with a skull design on it.

"Night Fury!" One Viking shouted, Toothless bouncing out like a dog on top of their shoulders.

"Get down!" Another yelped, the rest of the Vikings all shouting from Toothless knocking them all down from his playfulness, sitting there, wagging his tail. Voltwing had joined him too, looking really cute for a Skrill, Brooklyn going to hug him then jumping on his back since he was still wearing his lightning proof pants.

Sorath attached the new tail to the Night Fury then got into his own saddle, Astrid joining them both on her Deadly Nadder that she named Stormfly. They all got ready to go for a new flight to adventure together.

"You ready?" Sorath asked Toothless who huffs in response, eager to go. Voltwing hissed playfully, lighting sparking on his wings, Brooklyn scratching his scales. "Let's see what else is out there."

Brooklyn glanced upward, grinning from watching the bond between man and dragon grow even stronger. Despite his homesickness still lingering, Brooklyn knew he couldn't quite go home yet, not when there was so much to explore in this world of dragons. And maybe... maybe he could find other gargoyles in this universe too. He nods to Voltwing who takes off into the air, his friends following his lead.

This is Berk. It snows nine months of the year, and hails the other 3. Any food that grows here is tough and tasteless. The people that grow here are even more so. But the only upsides are the pets.

Brooklyn had Voltwing flew through the buildings, accidentally knocking Spitelout's helmet off with Voltwing's tail. "Sorry!" He yelled down, while whooping in happiness, feeling more free than ever now, hearing Sorath whoop as well while the trio flew past the ships in the harbor.

Soon the other teens on their dragons joined them as well, flying in formation with each other, Sorath and Brooklyn in front.

Sure, other places have ponies or parrots. But we have... dragons!

Toothless lets out a bellowing roar, twirling into the air, Voltwing following while riding on a lightning streak, the wind blowing into Brooklyn's hair, excited of what adventures would unfold for them all.
