Hey everyone, Poke'boy24 coming at you once again with viewing of magicianofthecosmos' Kanto Gets Loud as I recommend reading that story if you want to avoid any spoilers.

"Wow that Forest sure is nice looking." Clyde commented seeing the thick vegetation of Viridian Forest seeing just how much sunlight there was along with the clear path for travelers to take and hopefully avoid any hostile creatures that inhabited this forest.
(Chapter 12: Shiny Viridian Forest)
"Well, the trees and grass does look like a nice bright green, but I wouldn't exactly call it "Shiny" since the colors of the forest depends on just how much water and sunlight, they get year-round." Stella commented since while the forest does look lovely, calling it shiny was a bit of an overstatement.
"{The title wasn't referring to Viridian Forest itself, but you'll see what I'm talking about in a little bit.}" I informed the audience while finishing up the latest chapter to one of my other stories.
The three intrepid trainers were busily navigating their way through the Viridian Forest, hoping to get out before dark, "Okay, from what I was told, this is the quickest path through the forest," Raigo commented, leading the way.
"Just the sooner we're out of here and away from all the creepy Bug Pokémon, the better," Misty replied, sticking close to the other two.
"I would actually like to try catching a Bug Pokémon," Lincoln commented.
"I'd recommend it. Bug Pokémon are among the easier Pokémon Type to catch and train, since they level up really quickly." Raigo replied. Just then, a rustling was heard from the bushes.
"Really? Just how quickly?" Bobby asked with a nervous tone since he was concern about just how big these Bug Pokémon could possibly grow.
"Eek! Is that a Bug?!" Misty immediately leaped onto Lincoln. From out of the bushes crawled a yellow caterpillar Pokémon with a pale, pink nose and feet, and a stinger on the top of its head. The oddest thing about it was that when it appeared, it sparkled.
"Wait… Did that worm thing seriously just sparkled?" Zach questioned since that was very strange for a creature to sparkle unless they were of another planet!
"Easy Zach, it's just that Weedle thing Rotom-dex shown us earlier, just a slightly different color…" Stella commented as she now realized what the title meant. "Of course, this must be one of those rare "Shiny Pokémon" Poke'boy24 mentioned." She said as Rotom-dex shown them the image of an ordinary Weedle alongside its shiny counterpart.
"Looking at them closely, you can't really tell them apart since the Shiny Weedle is just paler." Albert commented rubbing his eyes just to be sure he wasn't seeing things.
"{Yeah, some Pokémon have shiny variants that look completely similar to their species' usual color scheme like how some regular animals have natural camouflage which has both advantages as well disadvantages.}" I said as Rotom-dex pulled up some images of Pokémon whose color schemes were completely different, just barely similar, and even inversed.
"Oh wow, a Weedle, and a Shiny one at that!" Raigo commented.
"So that's a Weedle," Lincoln commented, pulling out his Poke'dex, and pointing it at the Bug Pokémon.
"Weedle, the Hairy Bug Pokémon, a Bug and Poison Type. It is often found in forests and grasslands. It has a small, yet toxic stinger on the top of its head that's about 2 inches long. This Male Weedle is Level 8, and knows the moves Poison Sting and String Shot,"the Poke'dex said. Lincoln was perplexed, because the Weedle displayed in his Poke'dex was a different color than the one they just encountered. He then thought of something.
"Hey, what does that mean, 'Shiny'?" Lincoln asked.
"Well, you see, Lincoln, it's extremely rare, but some Pokémon, like that Weedle, appear in a different color than they normal would. This is what is referred to as a 'Shiny Pokémon'." Misty explained.
"Really? Are Shiny Pokémon that much better than regular ones?" Lincoln asked.
"As Misty just said, they're extremely difficult to find, so finding one is considered really lucky. Not only that, but when they enter battle from a Poke'ball, they always sparkle." Raigo replied.
"Whoa, so no matter where you are, a Shiny Pokémon is always going to sparkle whenever they appear~" Zach said in awe wanting to see more shiny variants of Pokémon.
"Sounds like something Lola wishes she could do." Lincoln commented with a slight chuckle knowing his pageant obsessed sister would be throwing a fit about being "out sparkled" by a simple animal as said sister was actually stewing in rage and jealousy within her suspended state.
"Really? That's actually pretty cool. Then would it be alright if I tried to catch this one?" Lincoln asked.
"Go right ahead," Raigo replied, stepping to the side.
"Alright, time to give this little guy a chance for battle. Now, go, Poliwag!" Lincoln said, sending out Poliwag.
"Wait, you're actually sending out Poliwag?" Bobby questioned since this seems like a lot since the Tadpole Pokémon was still pretty young to be battling, especially against a literal poisonous bug.
"Good call. Since he's still young, a battle would be good practice for him,"Pikachu commented.
"That's the idea. Poliwag, can I count on you in battling that Weedle?" Lincoln asked.
"Of course, Mr. Lincoln! You can count on me!"Poliwag replied, waddling forward to face Weedle, who was heading over to a bush to eat some leaves.
"Alright, let's give Water Gun a try!" Lincoln instructed.
"Ok!"Poliwag replied, as he fired off Water Gun at the Weedle, striking it away.
"Why you… I don't take kindly to people or Pokémon who interrupt me when I'm about to eat!" Weedle said, as he began firing a barrage of purple needle like object at Poliwag.
"Ah feel pretty stingy too when some fella interrupts ma meals. Same with tha critters back home." Liam commented since you should never get in-between an animal and their food.
"Not to mention the barrage of poisonous needles getting sent your way." Stella commented not want to be on the receiving end of an attack that literally has poison in the name.
"Quick, get out of the way!" Lincoln instructed. Poliwag propelled itself up with Water Gun, dodging the Poison Sting, "Great, now, use Water Gun again!" Poliwag fired off Water Gun again, this time missing it mark.
"Uh, was that meant for me?"the Weedle asked.
"Sorry, but this is my first actual battle, and I'm not very good at aiming,"Poliwag replied.
"Hmm, that'll have to be something we work on," Lincoln observed.
"Well, no matter. Take this, String Shot!" Weedle fired off a stream of sticky string at Poliwag, causing the Tadpole Pokémon's movement's to be slowed.
"Hey, what with the silly string?" Rusty questioned seeing Poliwag being sprayed by string.
"That's not string, it's silk which spiders use to make their webs as well some species of larvae produce to create their pupa stage for their life cycle like Butterflies, Moths, etc." Stella said as she never thought that silk could possibly be used like that as they continue to watch the battle.
"Eww, this stuff is all sticky and gross!"Poliwag complained.
"What's with that move?" Lincoln wondered, consulting his Poke'dex.
"Sting Shot, a Bug Type Move that utilizes a stream of sticky thread to reduce an opponent's Speed Stat." the Poke'dex explained.
"Sort of like an adhesive trap like tar, glue, a lot of stuff really." Zach commented since this natural silk could be useful in capturing elusive Cryptids.
"Tsk, we have to break free somehow!" Lincoln exclaimed.
"Strike while the iron is hot, as some passing humans would always say. Poison Sting!"Weedle exclaimed, firing Poison Sting. The move hit Poliwag, but was able to free the Tadpole Pokémon from the threads.
"Poliwag, are you alright?" Lincoln asked.
"Yeah, I'll be fine, but that attack still hurt. Thankfully I didn't get poisoned,"Poliwag replied.
"That's good, but for now, we should try to change up our tactics," Lincoln commented. Then he got an idea, regarding one of Poliwag's attacks, "This may work! Poliwag, use Hypnosis!" he called out.
"Ok, here goes nothing!" Poliwag exclaimed, as the spiral pattern on its belly began to glow, emitting a strange light that Weedle looked into.
"Whoa…" Rusty sighed as his eyes were engrossed by the spiral on Poliwag's belly.
"Anyone else… feeling… aaaawwwn~" Bobby began as he yawned as he and the Spokes boy fell asleep.
"Wish we had that to use on Carl and Sergio." Ronnie Anne commented with a chuckle since something like this would defiantly help in keeping her most troublesome cousin and pet from their usual shenanigans.
"W-What's going on? Strength… leaving… feeling… sleepy,"Weedle said, as it fell asleep.
"Alright, now's my chance! Go, Poke'ball!" Lincoln said, tossing his Poke'ball at the sleeping Bug type, sucking it into the spherical device. The Poke'ball began to wobble. It wobbled, and wobbled, before the audible clicking noise was heard, "Alright, I got Weedle!" Lincoln said, retrieving his Poke'ball.
"Did I do good, Mr. Lincoln?"Poliwag asked.
"Indeed, you did. Though we are going to working on improving your aim, from what I've seen during your battle," Lincoln replied, petting the Tadpole Pokémon, "Now, what do we do about sleeping Weedle?"
"I have a Full Heal. I'll treat its Sleep Status," Raigo said, pulling out a completely yellow spray bottle.
"Thanks," Lincoln replied, as he sent out the sleeping Weedle again. True to what he was told, Weedle sparkled as it materialized, "Whoa, so that's what you guys meant by sparkle."
"Yep, Shiny Pokémon are some of the best, though some color schemes I wonder about," Raigo replied, as he sprayed Weedle with the Full Heal. In an instant, Weedle was fully awake.
"After Rotom-dex shown us some examples, I'm kind of curious about why some shiny Pokémon have those color schemes to begin with." Lincoln commented since growing up with a bunch of sisters as well reading his comics he has a pretty in-depth knowledge about fashion as colors can complement or clash with each other.
"Ugh, what happened?"Weedle asked.
"You're part of the team now, Weedle," Lincoln said.
"A part of your team?" the Hairy Bug Pokémon asked curiously, getting a nod in response. "Well, I guess it can't be helped. But if I may ask a favor?"
"What kind of favor?" Lincoln asked.
"You see, I have a fellow Weedle and a Caterpie friend who both want to explore different regions. We've heard from passing trainers about something called 'Wonder Trading', which can send a Pokémon to anywhere else in the world," Weedle explained.
"Wonder Trading? What's that?" Albert questioned scratching his head as he couldn't keep up with the changing times as there's something new coming out every week from fashion to fads and even lingos.
"{It's sort of like a foreign exchange program but instead of students being sent to another country, Trainers exchange Pokémon with each other blindly since it sort of like those mystery boxes since you don't know what's inside until you've opened it.}" I explained trying to simplify what wonder trading is as best as I can as the scene helped further explain.
"Hmm, sounds interesting, but if I do agree to do this 'Wonder Trade' thing, what's in it for me?" Lincoln asked.
"Part of what we heard from those passing trainers is that in exchange for a Pokémon you send, you can get a Pokémon in return," Weedle explained.
"I see. Well, if you can convince your friends to come along for the ride, I'd be more than glad to Wonder Trade them away," Lincoln replied.
"Great! You won't regret this!"Weedle promised. Nearby, Misty and Raigo were watching Lincoln have a conversation with his newly caught Pokémon with curiosity.
"So, I take it Lincoln can understand what Pokémon are saying?" Raigo asked.
"From what I've seen, he can. But I've never had a chance to ask him about it," Misty replied.
"Well, maybe once we're out of the forest, we can ask him about it at the Pokémon Center," Raigo suggested. Just then, Lincoln stood up.
"Alright, so where can we find your friends?" Lincoln asked.
"They're in a grove further up the way. I can lead us there,"Weedle volunteered. Lincoln nodded and recalled Poliwag.
"You did great for your first battle, Poliwag, take a break for a while," Lincoln said, before turning to his friends, "Ok guys, slight change of plans. This Weedle has friends that want to see the World through something called 'Wonder Trading', so he's going to lead us to a grove a little way up."
"Well, I suppose a quick detour wouldn't hurt," Raigo commented.
"I'd prefer to leave this place as soon as possible, so let's make this quick," Misty pleaded.
"Alright, lead the way, Weedle," Lincoln said, as they followed the Hairy Bug Pokémon. Nearby, a certain trio was watching them.
"Hey, it's those goons again." Zach called pointing towards the screen while everyone groans since they weren't expecting them to be spying on Lincoln's counterpart so soon as well so closely.
"So, that twerp managed to catch a Shiny Pokémon already? How interesting," Jessie commented.
"I can't believe the boss is having us spy on that twerp! And all because he just felt the need to play the hero and stop our heist." James complained.
"Quit yer' whining! Orders are orders, even if we don't like them!" Meowth stated.
"Meowth is right. If we do a good job, we might be able to get back on the boss' good side," Jessie replied.
"Alright, but what do you think of that Wonder Trade thing that he mentioned? Perhaps it should be something to look into?" James suggested.
"Hmm, it would be smart to bolster our ranks as much as we can. We can spy on the twerp while we catch some more Pokémon," Jessie said, as they got up, and continued to follow the trio from the shadows.
""And so, the stalking begins…"" both Lincoln and Ronnie Anne said at the exact same time as they looked away with slightly flustered expressions since they were used to be stalked by their family members rather in be their safety or just spying on them whenever they hung out with their respected friend groups.
It didn't take terribly long for Weedle to lead the three trainers to a clearing in the Forest. "Well, we're here!"Weedle said.
"Ok, so where do we find your friends?" Lincoln asked. Weedle then noticed something was off.
"That's weird. Usually, they're climbing the trees or chowing down on leaves. On that note, there should be a lot more Weedle and Caterpie around here," Weedle replied, not seeing anyone else.
"Maybe they've moved to a different place?" Lincoln wondered.
"No. Something is definitely wrong," Weedle replied. Just then, a Pokémon that looked like a larger version of Pidgey landed nearby. One thing Lincoln noted that was different about it was that there was a red plumage on the top of its head.
"Whoa, what's that?!" Liam exclaimed waking up Rusty and Bobby just as Rotom-dex pulled up the information.
"[Pidgeotto, the Bird Pokémon, a Normal/Flying type: It has outstanding vision. However high it flies; it is able to distinguish the movements of its prey.]" Rotom-dex informed showing about the middle-staged Pokémon.
"Whoa, talk about having the actual vision of a hawk but it looks more like a falcon." Lincoln commented since the change from a pigeon to a falcon was pretty cool.
"A Pidgeotto!" Misty commented.
"Weird. I haven't seen that particular species in the forest before," Pikachu commented.
"So that's a Pidgeotto?" Lincoln asked, pointing his Poke'dex at the bird Pokémon.
"Pidgeotto, the Bird Pokémon, a Normal and Flying Type, and the evolved form of Pidgey. Pidgeotto are very territorial and will claim a large area as its own. It doesn't hesitate to punish and all intruders with its sharp claws. This female Pidgeotto is Level 19, and knows the moves Gust, Whirlwind, Sand Attack, Tackle, and Quick Attack," the Poke'dex said. It was then that Pidgeotto noticed the trio, glaring fiercely at them.
"Hey! Who do you think you are, barging into my turf like this?!" the Pidgeotto squawked, taking a fighting stance.
"Yeesh, defiantly a raptor if I even seen one." Bobby commented recalling some of the times Sergio dated and broke up with birds of prey as he was unfortunately caught in the crossfire of female fury mixed with very sharp talons.
"Oh boy, that thing does not look too friendly," Raigo commented.
"I don't think it is friendly. She sounds pretty mad at us for invading her territory," Lincoln replied.
"But this is where my friends and I all gather to have fun and eat leaves!"Weedle exclaimed.
"More than likely, this Pidgeotto must've chased them all away when it took this area for herself," Lincoln deduced.
"That's right I did! They were all easy pickings for someone as badass as me!"Pidgeotto boasted.
"Why you…!"Weedle growled, getting ready to battle, only to be stopped by Lincoln.
"Hold on Weedle. I know you want to get even with Pidgeotto, but being a Bug Type, you're at a major disadvantage. That and she's almost double your level." Lincoln said.
"In the classic game of Bird versus Bug, Bird wins hands down." Rusty simply stated as a fact since birds eats bugs as that was just how the food chain was designed.
"Especially when that bird's a bully." Clyde added cowering behind the seat in front of him as he doesn't want to be on the receiving ends of those sharp talons.
"And an egotistic one at that since that just reminds me of Lynn and Chandler." Lincoln added with bitterness since he was always the target of their harassment.
"Well, yeah, but this place is special to me and my friends!" Weedle stated.
"I know, but for now, until we get you in some more battle experience, why don't you sit this one out?" Lincoln suggested.
"Well, okay,"Weedle conceded.
"Thanks. Plus, I have a Pokémon on my team that can probably teach Pidgeotto a lesson, and match her in terms of mobility," Lincoln said, pulling out another Poke'ball, "Alright, Fearow, let's do this!" he said, sending out his Fearow.
"Alright, aerial combat!" Albert excitedly exclaimed pumping his fist in excitement since it's been a long time since he saw an aerial fight but good thing this was between two large birds and now fighter jets.
"I heard everything inside the ball. I'm guessing you want me to teach this sassy child over there some manners?" Fearow asked, pointing to Pidgeotto.
"WHO YOU CALLIN' A CHILD, GRANDMA!?" Pidgeotto squawked, only to be ignored.
"You know, this sort of reminds me of that old show Bakugan whenever that Harpy argues and insults the bird." Lincoln commented since this scene between the two avian Pokémon vaguely reminded him of that old show based on the game featuring balls that turn into creatures.
"Yes. Think you can do it?" Lincoln asked.
"Naturally,"Fearow replied, going over to confront Pidgeotto. "Alright, seeing as how you're causing trouble for others, I have been tasked with taking you down. Hopefully, smacking you around will cut your ego down to size."
"As if! The only one of us who's getting the smack down of a lifetime is you, Longneck!" Pidgeotto declared.
"Alright Fearow, let's start off with Fury Attack!" Lincoln instructed.
"With pleasure," Fearow replied, as she went on the attack, rapidly trying to peck Pidgeotto, but with no success.
"Ha! You're too slow!"Pidgeotto taunted. This seemed to provoke Fearow, as she began to once again use Fury Attack, hoping to strike a hit, only to miss each time.
"Fearow, try to calm down! Don't let her words get to you!" Lincoln called out, only to go unheard by his Flying Pokémon, who continued to try and land a hit.
"Ok, now this is starting to get boring. Quick Attack!" Pidgeotto exclaimed, slamming into Fearow at blinding speeds, sending her into the ground. The three trainers, Pikachu, and Weedle all gaped at what they had just witnessed.
"DANG! Tha there bird flew faster than a mule bein' chase by a swarm of mad hornets." Liam commented as everyone didn't even see the Pidgeotto move.
"Defiantly faster than any falcon I've seen, wither it the bird or the jet." Albert commented as he knows just how fast a falcon can soar.
"Whoa, I've never seen a Quick Attack that fast before!" Misty commented.
"She's right! That Pidgeotto must have some crazy Speed to pull that off!" Raigo added.
"I have to agree with them. My own Quick Attack looks way too slow in comparison," Pikachu commented.
"Ha! Looks like I've impressed your little friends with my awesome battling skills! Aw yeah, that's what I'm talking about!" Pidgeotto boasted, doing a little victory dance, only to get blindsided by Fearow's Aerial Ace. "Ow! What the hell was that for, you asshole?!"
"Geez, this bird is acting just like Lynn." Lincoln commented rubbing his head since his sporty sister always does her boastful victory dance either before and/or after winning be them her games, her favorite teams on television, or even simple family game night.
"You have only yourself to blame for letting your guard down. I simply took advantage of the opening you were so kind enough to give me," Fearow smirked.
"Nicely done, Fearow! Let's keep up the pressure!" Lincoln called out.
"Will do, Lincoln!"Fearow replied.
"How cute that your twiggy trainer down there actually has faith in you," Pidgeotto taunted.
"Hey, I'm not that twiggy." The middle Loud child retorted feeling insulted since he's more brain than brawn since thinking things through is his preferred strong suit even if his plans or ideas were halfway thought through most of the time.
"Relax kiddo, you're still young and just now beginning to go through puberty since you still has the growth spurt to hit." His grandfather assured since he used to be on the slim side himself when he was a youth.
"At least Fearow has someone who has faith in her! I bet that attitude of yours is what keeps others away from the likes of you!" Lincoln declared.
"Dang Lame-o, didn't think you could be assertive." Ronnie Anne said impressed seeing the KGL Lincoln actually showing some backbone.
"Way to hit that overgrowth turkey with the hard truth." Rusty commented with a snicker.
"Well said. And thanks for having faith in me. It means a lot to me,"Fearow said to her trainer.
"No problem. Now then, let's use Aerial Ace once more!" Lincoln instructed. Fearow once again used Aerial Ace to land a direct hit on Pidgeotto.
"Grr, I hate it when my opponents get lucky shots like that! But no more! Time for my special, secret attack! Eat this, Sand Attack!"Pidgeotto yelled.
"Sand what now?" Fearow questioned, as Pidgeotto flapped her wings to kick up a cloud of sand, causing Fearow to get blinded by the sand in her eyes. "*Cough* Oh come on! Not this *cough* again! I really regret not having *cough* Keen Eye! Oh god, I think some of it got in my mouth!"
"Hey, that's playing dirty as I call fowl!" Bobby called out unintentionally making a pun seeing Pidgeotto flap actual dirt into her opponent face.
"She's as bad as that James fellow who used smoke to blind his opponent." Myrtle commented since she herself had used smokescreens to cover her exits/escapes but that was only for emergencies.
"Not another Accuracy affecting opponent!" Lincoln groaned.
"Check Fearow's moves!" Raigo advised, "You can use your Poke'dex to advise you on what move to use next!"
"Right!" Lincoln said, pulling out his Poke'dex, "Poke'dex, is there a way to counter Sand Attack? Preferably among Fearow's move pool?"
"Searching for results, one moment, please,"the Poke'dex said. Within seconds, the Poke'dex beeped, "Search results successful, one item: Mirror Move. A Flying Type status move that allows the user to use the same move the opponent just used."
"So, it's basically just copying the same move used before?" Bobby questioned since the moves sounds pretty straight forward.
"Huh, that could work," Lincoln commented, turning to the sand cloud, "Fearow, can you hear me in there?" he called out.
"Yes, but barely!"was Fearow's response.
"I have a plan to turn Pidgeotto's attack against her! Use Mirror Move!" Lincoln called out.
'Mirror Move? That would mean…'then it dawned on Fearow what Lincoln was thinking. Fearow then began to glow in a silvery, almost mirror like aura, which caused another Sand Attack cloud, this time aimed at Pidgeotto.
"*cough* No fair! That's my special, secret attack!"Pidgeotto snapped, blinded by the sand herself.
"You reap what you sow!"Fearow countered.
"Shut you beak, you overgrown piece of shit!"Pidgeotto snapped. Seeing the squawking between the two Bird Pokémon, Misty and Raigo turned to Lincoln.
"Dang that bird as such a mouth… or beak." Mrytle commented now liking the Bird Pokémon's crude language.
"I'm assuming the two of them really don't like each other?" Misty asked.
"Yeah, Pidgeotto seems to have a bit of a potty mouth on her, which is a direct contrast to Fearow's wise disposition," Lincoln replied.
"Well, in any case, it would be wise to finish her off," Raigo suggested.
"Way ahead of you, Fearow, use Aerial Ace, once more!" Lincoln instructed.
"You got it!" Fearow replied, as she unleashed Arieal Ace, once again. Since Pidgeotto wasn't able to see clearly, she wasn't able to dodge, as Fearow slammed into her, which sent her crashing into the ground, hard.
"Yeah, ultimate knockout!" Ronnie Anne exclaimed jumping in her seat as she punched the air a few times seeing the cocky bird getting slammed hard into the ground while everyone else winced since that impacted looked like it got to hurt.
"Ouch, that had to hurt," Misty commented.
"Yeah," Lincoln said, as Fearow landed right beside her trainer, "Nicely done, Fearow!"
"Thank you, Lincoln. So, what are we going to do with her? Make her a part of the team? Because if we do, then we have to do something about that filthy mouth of hers,"Fearow questioned, shooting a dirty glare towards the unconscious Bird Pokémon.
"I don't see a reason to catch her. I've already got a great Flying Type Pokémon on my team," Lincoln commented. Fearow beamed proudly at the compliment.
"Now hold on just a minute!"Pidgeotto exclaimed, as she regained consciousness. "It's bad enough that you trespassed onto MY territory, and that you beat me in battle, but to go and claim that longneck is the greatest Flying Type?! There's only one Flying Type that deserves such a title, and that's me!"
"That sure was a quick recovery?!" Stella exclaimed as she and everyone else was stunned to see the foul-mouthed fowl quickly getting back up after a serious crash like that.
"Just how durable are these Pokémon?" Rusty questioned because one moment Pidgeotto was down and out but the next moment she's back up like nothing even happened.
"And all because my other self from that reality just gave Fearow a little praise for winning, this bird must be a Pokémon version of Lynn and Lola since they always want to be center of attention." Lincoln commented wiping his forehead knowing just how competitive his family can be most of the time during competitions since that over competitiveness was what gotten Lynn banned from the Royal Woods Quest.
"You're up and around already?" Lincoln asked, surprised at how quickly Pidgeotto regained consciousness.
"You're damn well right I am! And I refuse to allow you make a claim like that! I'm the best, not her!" Pidgeotto proclaimed.
"That's what you're ticked off about now? The fact that MY trainer gave ME a compliment he thinks that I deserve after a hard-fought battle?" Fearow asked.
"A compliment that should only go to me! I'm the undefeated champion of this part of the Forest for an entire year!" Pidgeotto exclaimed.
"Talk about a sore ego along with a bruised pride." Ronnie Anne commented with a snicker seeing just how sore the Bird Pokémon was acting.
"Guess you sort of hit the nail on the coffin about her not having any friends due to her attitude." Clyde said kind of feeling bad for Pidgeotto thinking that she's acting out like this due to loneliness.
"Considering that the only thing in this area is weak Bug Type Pokémon, that kind of an accomplishment isn't all what it's cracked up to be. No offense, Weedle." Pikachu said.
"None taken," Weedle replied.
"Being the self-claimed "Champion" is pretty underwhelming when all your opponents are literally a fraction of your size." Stella commented since there isn't really anything to be proud about when you can't even fight someone your own size or at least close to it.
"I don't remember anyone asking for YOUR input, rat! Her win was just a fluke!"Pidgeotto snapped.
"Yep, defiantly a Pokémon version of Lynn~" Lincoln sighed palming his face wondering what's next, a Pokémon version of Chandler?
'Whoa, a quick temper, an over inflated ego, AND a sore looser to boot? She seems like a bird version of Lynn.' Lincoln thought, as he got in between the two Pokémon, "Alright, break it up you two!" Pikachu acknowledged his trainer by dashing over to him, while Pidgeotto glared at the white-haired boy, "Look, we really had no intention or knowledge that you had claimed this area as your territory. So here's what I'm proposing – You let us pass through to Pewter City, and you won't have to worry about us trespassing on your turf again. That sounds fair?"
"What? You think you can just waltz into MY territory, have that overgrown chicken claim a fluke win over me in battle, and expect to walk away?! You're not even going to try to capture me?!"Pidgeotto snapped.
"Like I said, why would I need you when I have Fearow? She's already a dependable battler," Lincoln pointed out. Fearow shot a smug look towards Pidgeotto.
"Well, fine – just get out of my sight! The sooner you're all out of here, the better!" Pidgeotto demanded.
"Alright, alright. C'mon guys, we're leaving. Sorry Weedle, but we're going to have to look in another place for your friends," Lincoln said, as he recalled Fearow.
"Yeah, it sure looks like it. A total bummer," Weedle replied. Meanwhile, Pidgeotto was still sulking.
"Stupid human, thinking that long necked chicken is so much better than me!" she said. Then, an idea popped into her head, "Hey, maybe if I were to join him, maybe I can show him what a great asset I could be to the team! Not only that, but I could also have a chance to show up that Fearow and avenge my loss! Oh, it's all too perfect!" she schemed, as she flew after the group. "Human, hold on!"
"Oh, what now?" Lincoln said in annoyance.
"You aren't really planning on leaving without the newest addition to your team, are you?" Pidgeotto asked. Lincoln blinked in confusion.
"Wait, seriously?" Ronnie Anne questioned now thinking that Pidgeotto might be a tomboyish girl version of Sergio.
"Ego and pride, what're you gonna do~" Lincoln sighed slumping within his seat having a good idea of where this might be going since his sisters do the exact same thing whenever they need him for something.
"Come again?" Lincoln asked.
"You heard it right! In a once in a lifetime opportunity, I'm joining your team!" Pidgeotto proclaimed.
"This is because of what I said to Fearow earlier, isn't it?" Lincoln asked.
"What?! No!"Pidgeotto denied, only to get an unconvinced look from Lincoln, "Ok, fine, so maybe it has something to do with that, but I can assure you, you won't regret having me as a part of your team!" she stated.
"Lincoln, what's going on?" Raigo asked.
"Pidgeotto is volunteering to join my team," Lincoln replied.
"Well, why not go ahead and catch it? After all, if we ever get lost, we can always have her and Fearow try to find our way back on track." Misty suggested.
"She does have a point since you can never have too much aerial reconnaissance." Albert stated since it's being to have a larger squad to cover more ground it every possible direction.
"Hmm, they do say two heads are better than one. Alright Pidgeotto, you've got yourself a deal. But I expect you back up all that tough talk you did earlier," Lincoln stated.
"And you'll get more results than you'll be expecting!" Pidgeotto declared.
"Alright, in that case, go Poke'ball!" Lincoln said, tossing his Poke'ball at Pidgeotto. When the Bird Pokémon was encapsulated, the ball shook while in the air, before falling to the ground. The ball only wobbled once before it clicked, "Wow, that was fast," he commented, retrieving his newest team member's Poke'ball.
"Wait, how come that Poke'ball only wobbled once? Didn't Prof. Oak say that it needed to wobble three times before clicking?" Zach questioned baffled as the explanation was just coming up.
"You just did a Critical Capture," Raigo commented.
"'Critical Capture'? What's that?" Lincoln asked.
"It doesn't happen often, but sometimes when you throw a Poke'ball, it can finish the capture procedure instantly before the Pokémon has a chance to escape. But since it doesn't happen too often, it's wise to not to expect to happen every time." Raigo explained.
"Talk about handy." Stella commented since this critical capturing mechanic would make it easier to subdue wild Pokémon, so they don't manage to break out during the capturing process.
"Huh. That's some good information to have in mind." Lincoln replied.
"Well, let's get going. I don't want to be in this place any more than I have to be!" Misty whined.
"Don't forget Lincoln, we still have my two friends to look for," Weedle said.
"He's right, you know. Speaking of which, where do you suppose they are?" Pikachu asked.
"Look no further!"a new voice said, as another, normal Weedle and a green caterpillar Pokémon with a big red antenna emerged from the bushes.
"AAAH! MORE BUGS!" Misty screamed. Lincoln curiously pulled out his Poke'dex, and pointed it at the green caterpillar.
"Does she really have to screech like that over a couple of worms?" Rusty questioned rubbing his ears feeling like an eardrum nearly popped since that unnecessary outburst like that seriously drops some points in his book even if the Orangette is very attractive.
"Caterpie, the Worm Pokémon, a Bug Type. If you touch the feeler on its head, it releases a horrible stench that it uses to run away. Caterpie have been recognized as the perfect first Pokémon for new trainers to catch. This female Caterpie is level 6, and knows the moves Tackle and String Shot," the Poke'dex explained.
"So, this guy's going to help us out with seeing the world?"the Caterpie asked.
"Yes. He's just as interested in Wonder Trading as you two are of seeing the world,"Lincoln's Weedle replied.
"Well, he does look dependable. I'm down for it,"the wild Weedle said.
"As am I,"Caterpie added.
"Looks like you're both in agreement. They're ready, Lincoln," Lincoln's Weedle asked.
"Alright, go Poke'balls!" Lincoln said, tossing two Poke'balls, encapsulating both Bug Types. Both balls wobbled, before they clicked shut, "Alright! Once I figure out this Wonder Trade stuff, I'll be sure to send these two off," Lincoln said to Weedle. Just then, the Poke'ball containing the second Weedle began to glow before warping away, "Ahh! What happened?!"
"Where did the Poke'ball go?!" Zach exclaimed as everyone was completely stunned seeing the seventh Poke'ball just disappearing like that.
"Those two Pokémon must've filled up your remaining party slot, didn't it?" Misty asked.
"Wait, I remember Professor Oak telling me about this. Trainers are only allowed to carry six Pokémon at a time, right?" Lincoln asked.
"That's right. And more Pokémon you catch are automatically sent to wherever you got your Poke'dex from, and are placed in storage. But that raises a question in my mind; why did you catch a second Weedle?"
"You see, this Weedle told me that his two friends here want to explore the world, and the best way to do that is by Wonder Trading, whatever that is exactly," Lincoln replied.
"Wonder Trading is a method in which trainers from around the world can exchange Pokémon with one another. But the Pokémon they can receive is totally at random," Misty explained.
"""""Oooooohhhh~…""""" Everyone awed now understanding the method of Wonder Trading.
"I think the Pewter City Pokémon Center has a Wonder Trade Station," Raigo commented.
"Oh, well that's convenient," Lincoln commented.
"But you won't be able to use it right away, Lincoln," Misty said.
"Why not?" Lincoln asked.
"You see, while you can receive a new Pokémon from somewhere in the world, and while they do grow faster as you train them, if they become too strong, they'll stop obeying your commands, so it's required/recommended that Trainers wanting to use the Wonder Trade Station need to have at least one Gym Badge to their name." Misty explained.
"I see. So, I need to earn a Badge before I can fulfill my promise to them," Lincoln commented.
"That's right. So, you'll need to mull over your strategy before we get to Pewter City," Raigo suggested, as they continued onward.
"You heard that, right Weedle? Once we win a badge at the Pewter Gym, I can Wonder Trade your friends," Lincoln said.
"That's fine, as long as you keep your word," Weedle replied.
"Alright then, now let's just get you back into your Poke'ball, and…" Lincoln found himself cut off when, with a mighty yell, a boy dressed in a samurai outfit leaped from the bushes, brandishing a sword, and pointed it at the three trainers.
"""AAHHH! ! ROGUE SAMURAI! !""" Clyde, Rusty, and Bobby cried out leaping into the air and tightly hugged each other before immediately falling down remembering gravity.
"Watch where you're pointing that sword buddy!" Albert called as he and his wife got into defensive stances due to old training habits when confronted with an armed assailant.
"You there! Am I addressing at least one trainer from the Town of Pallet?" the boy asked.
"Brandishing a katana in people faces sure is an odd way of addressing someone!" Stella exclaimed since doing something like this will defiantly send the wrong kind of message since it'll make people believe that you're here to kill them.
"Uh, not me, I'm from Cerulean City," Misty replied nervously.
"I'm actually from the Hoenn Region," Raigo replied.
"Technically I did start out in Pallet Town, but I'm not actually from Pallet Town," Lincoln replied. The boy sheathed his sword, a look of interest on his face.
"So you must be that foreigner from America, am I correct?" the boy asked. Lincoln was very surprised.
"Um, yes, I am. But how did you know?" Lincoln asked.
"A girl passing through here with a Charmander by the name of 'Leaf' told me about you," the boy replied.
"So Leaf and the others must've passed through here already," Lincoln commented.
"Just who are you, kid? That sword's dangerous, you know," Raigo questioned.
"I am the Wandering Warrior of the Viridian Forest, the Bug Type Trainer, Samurai!" the boy said, introducing himself.
"Wait… So, his name is literally "Samurai"?" Lincoln questioned finding it a little strange that someone would name their child after a type of warrior since it's usually the name of that warrior but decided not to think about it since he was named after one of the United States' presidents after being born inside the president's limo.
"Well, Samurai, I assume that there's a reason you jumped out at us like that?" Lincoln asked.
"Indeed. I have battled three other trainers who hail from the Town of Pallet and have fallen to them three different times. You are the fourth Trainer to come from Pallet Town, even though you're not actually a citizen there, so I am issuing a battle challenge to you, Lincoln Loud!" Samurai proclaimed.
"A battle?" Lincoln questioned.
"Wow, challenged to a battle by a Samurai, not something you hear nowadays." Albert commented since those days were literally history.
"It would be a good idea to see how Weedle and Pidgeotto fair in battle," Misty suggested.
"I'd say take him up on his challenge," Raigo urged.
"Well, if you guys say so. It's a deal, Samurai!" Lincoln replied.
"Great! There's a clearing just up ahead that will make for a most excellent battlefield." Samurai replied, leading them down the path they were on before.
"Hey Lincoln? Think I can get some healing done? I'm still a bit sore from that battle with your Poliwag," Weedle asked.
"Sure thing. Once we get to the clearing, I'll use a Potion on you," Lincoln replied, as they soon arrived at an open clearing, "So, what'll the rules be?" Lincoln asked Samurai.
"We both may use only two Pokémon, and the battle will be decided when both of either Trainer's Pokémon cannot battle. Substitutions will also be prohibited." Samurai explained.
"Sounds reasonable," Lincoln replied, as he took a moment to spray Weedle with a Potion.
"Ah, much better!" Weedle commented.
"If it's alright with you, Weedle, I'd kind of like to start off with you first," Lincoln said.
"Well, I would much rather get some rest, but I'll go ahead and battle," Weedle replied, as he slithered his way up into the battlefield.
"Ok, and for my first Pokémon, go Metapod!" Samurai said, tossing his Poke'ball, sending out a green cocoon like Pokémon.
"[Metapod, the Cocoon Pokémon, a Bug type: It prepares for evolution by hardening its shell as much as possible to protect its soft body.]" Rotom-dex informed showing everyone the information about the Bug type.
"So even while it's a pupa stage, it's still capable of battling?" Stella questioned since usually whenever a caterpillar goes through their metamorphosis they first find a secluded place to hide from predators since they're completely motionless during the process.
"Who's that Pokémon?" Lincoln wondered, taking out his Pokedex, and pointing it at the cocoon.
"Metapod, the Cocoon Pokémon, a Bug Type, and the evolved form of Caterpie. A steel-hard shell protects its tender insides while awaiting evolution. During this time, it endures many hardships," the Poke'dex explained.
"An evolved Pokémon? Could be trouble. Best bet would be to battle from as much of a distance as possible," Lincoln commented.
"As you are the visitor, you may have the first move," Samurai declared.
"Oh, um, ok. Weedle, let's start things off with Poison Sting!" Lincoln instructed.
"You got it!"Weedle replied, as he fired off a barrage of Poison Stings.
"Metapod, use Harden!" Samurai instructed. Metapod began to glow, as its body appeared to grow stiffer. The attack made contact, and Metapod appeared to have been poisoned. "Ah! Metapod!" Samurai cried out. Weedle then started to snicker.
"You're laughing? Poison isn't something laugh about, even if it does give us an edge," Lincoln scolded, unsure as to why Weedle found this funny.
"Well, it would appear that this guy caught his Metapod as it is instead of raising it from a Caterpie. If that's the case, then this battle will be a breeze!"Weedle explained. Lincoln was even more confused.
"Metapod, use Harden once more!" Samurai ordered. Metapod once again stiffened up its body.
"Uh, aren't you planning to attack?" Lincoln asked. Samurai blushed in embarrassment.
"Well, you see, the thing is I caught Metapod as a Metapod, so the only moves it knows are Harden and String Shot." Samurai replied.
Hearing this caused the audience to anime-style fall from their seats upon learning that this battle wasn't as interesting as the other battles they've seen so far when the opponent is physically incapable of fighting back.
"Wait, so it can't attack? Like, at all?" Lincoln asked. Samurai nodded, "Man, that sucks, dude," he said, before turning to Weedle, "Is that what you were talking about?" he asked.
"That's right. Harden and String Shot are a pain in terms of battle, but they don't do jack against your opponents in the way of attacking," Weedle explained.
"Huh, in that case, we should make use of that fact. Weedle, use Poison Sting, once again!" Lincoln instructed.
"Already over it," Weedle replied, as he once again fired off Poison Sting. The damage from the attack and the Poison status proved too much for Metapod to handle, as it went down to defeat.
"With that, Lincoln clenches the first win," Raigo commented. Samurai recalled Metapod.
"Nicely done, Weedle!" Lincoln commended.
"Thanks Lincoln. Now I'd kind of like to return to my ball to get some…" Weedle was cut off when a brilliant bluish white light began to shine from him, as he began to change shape. "Huh, about time this happened."
"Whoa… Is this… Evolution?" Zach questioned as everyone was at the edge of their seats as they continue to watch the scene before them.
"About time what happened? What's going on with Weedle?" Lincoln asked.
"You needn't worry. Your Weedle is beginning to evolve," Samurai explained, tending to Metapod.
"Among all the Pokémon in the Kanto Region, Caterpie and Weedle are the easiest Pokémon to evolve since they do so at low levels," Misty added.
"Huh, so this is what evolution is like," Lincoln commented, as the light died out. Weedle had now evolved into a lime green cocoon Pokémon that was unlike Metapod. Lincoln took out his Poke'dex and pointed it at his newly evolved Pokémon.
"[Kakuna, the Cocoon Pokémon, a Bug/Poison type: Although it is a cocoon, it can move a little. It can extend its poisonous barb if it is attacked.]" Rotom-dex explained showing the information along with the image of what KAkuna normally look like.
"Whoa, now that it evolved, you can defiantly see the differences in color." Cylde commented seeing that regular Kakuna were Yellow while the Shiny variant was Green going from a primary color to a secondary one.
"Not to mention that it can still poison you which is something cocoons don't usually do." Bobby stated not wanting to even go near one of those things since it can sting you even while it not fully matured.
"Kakuna, the Cocoon Pokémon, a Bug and Poison Type. Kakuna remains virtually immobile as it clings to trees. However, on the inside, it is busily getting ready for its impending evolution. This is evident by how hot its shell is to touch. This male Kakuna is Level 9, and knows the Moves Poison Sting, String Shot, Bug Bite, and Harden," the Poke'dex explained.
"Whoa, so it tells you when it's really to evolve by just heating up. Is it like a hardboiled egg or something?" Rusty questioned now feeling hungry again.
"Huh, so you picked up some new moves. How do you feel?" Lincoln asked.
"Truthfully? It's rather cramped in this shell. I miss being able to move freely,"Kakuna replied.
"Well, you're bound to evolve before you know it, so just try to hold out," Lincoln said.
"Yeah, but could you recall me now? I'd kind of like to have that rest now,"Kakuna asked.
"Sure thing," Lincoln replied, recalling his newly evolved Pokémon, before turning to Samurai, "Well Samurai, looks like I'm one up in terms of the Pokémon count."
"You just keep talking! That arrogance will be your downfall! Now, for my second Pokémon!" Samurai exclaimed, tossing his second Poke'ball, releasing a large, brown beetle Pokémon with two large horns on the top of its head.
"Whoa! What is that?!" Ronnie Anne exclaimed upon seeing the huge stag beetle.
"[Pinsir, the Stag Beetle Pokémon, a Bug type: Pinsir is astoundingly strong. It can grip a foe weighing twice its weight in its horns and easily lift it. This Pokémon's movements turn sluggish in cold places.]" Rotom-dex informed showing the data on Pinsir from their size and weight to how powerful their horns are.
"Of all the Pokémon this Samurai kid could have on him, why did it have to be a Pinsir?" Misty complained.
"Ahh~ Come on, a cliffhanger at the best part~" Ronnie Anne whined since that Pinsir looked pretty cool and also pretty tough looking with horns like those.
"Uhh~…" Bobby droned not really sure how to reply as he quivered from just how intimidating Pinsir looked, especially with those spiked horns on its head.
"Looks like we'll be seeing the next scene soon enough." Zach said wanting to see just how a massive bug like Pinsir fights so he can gather some data encase the planet is infested with giant Insectoid be from outer space or scientific mishandling.
