As Peter Parker sat at his cluttered workstation, the soft hum of machines and the faint scent of solder and metal filled the air around him. He was immersed in a typical day at Horizon Labs, a small branch founded by the visionary Max Modell, designed to provide him a sanctuary away from the chaos of the bustling city. Here, amid the buzzing lights and scattered schematics, he found solace and focus.

With furrowed brows and fingers dancing across the keyboard, Peter delved into the intricate details of the S.A.G.E. project, a complex endeavor left behind by his late father. The glow of the computer screen illuminated his determined expression as he poured over lines of code, painstakingly trying to recreate the advanced AI algorithms that had once sparked his father's brilliance. Each keystroke was a careful balance of ambition and caution, as he wrestled with the daunting challenge of breathing new life into the project without falling into the dark legacy of Ultron. His heart raced at the thought, knowing that with great power came the immense responsibility to wield it wisely. His father's project case also held a very advanced-looking USB drive marked Cyberspace with the note saying "do not implement it into the AI until it is completed."

While he was working, he got a video call from his boss and got Peter to look over at the other computer in confusion. He walked over and activated the call, seeing Max.

"Hey, Peter." Max greeted.

"Hey there, Max." Peter greeted as he moved over to his work. "What can I do for you?"

"Well, I actually have some news," Max informed him, getting Peter to look over in surprise. "I've got a position opening up here at the San Francisco branch of the company."

"Really?" Peter asked.

"Yeah, pays a little more than what you are making now, I know it is short notice, but I just wanted to let you know so you could talk and think it over," Max tells him. "I know your schedule is always... chaotic."

Peter nodded and was surprised to see this direct call. "Uh, wow, thank you. I... I am honored."

"Think about it, let me know at the end of the week," Max said as he ended the call.

Peter sat in his chair and was wondering if he should take that offer. A better job in a city that might need a hero more than Green Hills? It was a tempting offer, to say the least. He liked the community and the people in the city, but is he doing much to stay here?

That was when he heard a knock and looked over to see Tom walking into the labs. "Hey, Pete."

"Tom, hey, wasn't expecting to see you here," Peter commented, focusing on his work. "What brings you by?"

"Well, I was wondering if you could take a look at this," Tom said, holding out the quill in a napkin.

Peter turned his attention to the quill and looked over it, seeing it was coursing with electricity. "Where'd you find this?"

"Out by the speed trap," Tom answered. "Weirdly enough before I found it, the speedometer was going crazy, reading something going over two hundred miles, but there was nothing around."

Peter was intrigued when he heard that and looked down at the quill again. "Huh... may be some sort of experimental energy storage device. Scrambling any nearby electronics like the ones in the speedometer. I'll take a look and see what I can find."

"Great, thanks, I gotta go," Tom said as he headed out.

Peter sighed and looked down at the quill and then over to the monitor. He was still conflicted with what he was going to do and knew that Emma should be going on break soon.

"Mutation," Emma said to her students as she was recapping her explanation on evolution. "It is the key to our evolution. It has allowed us to evolve from a single-celled organism into the dominant species on the planet." She said, sketching out a DNA strand. "This process is slow, taking over thousands and thousands of years. But every few hundred millennia, the process jumps a hundred years forward."

Emma then turned to her students and saw some were listening while others were focusing on their desks. She wished she didn't have an ethical responsibility to not use her powers to make them focus and pay attention when she taught.

Peter walked over and knocked on the door, getting Emma and the other students to look towards the door. "Hey."

"Oh, hey, what are you doing here?" Emma wonders, approaching him.

"Well, I know you're on break soon, so I thought I'd stop by," Peter said as he gave her a quick kiss.

That action caused Emma to melt as she kissed back, but they were stopped by the entire room of students going, "Ooohhh."

The two adults sighed just as the bell went off and the room began to clear out. "Don't forget your assignments." She warned her students as they left. "Kids." She scoffed as she walked over to the desk. "Always ruining something."

"You love them," Peter teased her.

"I tolerate them," Emma stated as she grabbed her purse. "So, what's on your mind?"

"Why does something need to be on my mind to see the woman I love?" Peter asked as they headed out.

"Because you usually shower me with love when we get home, not in the middle of the day," Emma explained as they walked down the street. "So, come on, out with it, or I will start probing your head."

Peter chuckled and sighed. "Alright, so, I got a call from Max." He explained, seeing her worried face. "He offered me a new job out in San Francisco."

"A new job?" Emma was looking for some clarity.

"It's a higher position, and it comes with optional locations to live..." Peter explained.

"So that would mean leaving Green Hills," Emma was following. "You sure you want to do that?"

"I don't know," Peter admitted with a sigh, looking around Green Hills. "I mean, Spider-Man isn't doing much out here, and San Francisco has plenty of crime."

"Yeah, but I thought this place was more to you than that," Emma commented. "But if that's what you want, I support it."

"I am not sure I will take it yet," Peter informed her. "Max did offer to let us go take a look before I decide."

Emma nodded. "Well, Maddie is heading up there tomorrow anyway, she is visiting her sister and asked me to tag along."

"Really?" Peter asks in surprise. "You willingly agreed to leave and deal with someone else's relative?"

Emma lightly smacked him. "Hey, she grew on me. And I can deal with other people's relatives."

"When we met, you literally probed my head the second you got." Peter reminded her.

Emma then flirtatiously strutted closer to Peter and caressed his chest. "I thought you would be thankful that I did that..." she then leaned closer to his face. "Because if I didn't, then we wouldn't be here today."

Peter chuckled as he then heard shattering glass and looked down the street and saw the bank was being robbed. "And the moment is gone..."

"Go." Emma pushed him forward so he could run to the bank.

Peter nodded as he ran toward the bank and ripped his clothes off, revealing his Spider-Man (Marvel Rivals look) attire underneath.

The sound of clinking coins and rustling paper fills the air. The atmosphere is suddenly pierced by alarms as Shocker clad in his yellow and black suit, bursts through the doors with bags of cash.

Shocker grins, his gauntlets crackling with energy as he prepares to make his escape. Customers scream and duck for cover while the tellers frantically hit the security alarms.

"Easy pickings! This is too simple!" Shocker stated.

Suddenly, a web shoots from the shadows, wrapping around Shocker's legs. That was when Peter came in swinging and landed on top of one of the destroyed desks.

"Not so fast, Shocky!" Peter cried.

Shocker struggles but quickly uses his gauntlets to blast the webbing away. He turns to face Spider-Man, a smirk on his face under the mask.

"You think you can stop me, Web-Head? I've got the power of shock!" Shocker cried as he fired a shockwave at Spider-Man, who swiftly dodged, flipping over the blast and landing on a nearby pillar.

"Power of shock?" Peter couldn't help but laugh. "Did you hit your head the last time we fought, Herman? Because to me, it looks more like the power of bad choices!"

Spider-Man shoots another web, this time aiming for Shocker's gauntlets. He manages to ensnare one, but Shocker retaliates with a quick blast that sends Spider-Man crashing into a wall.

"You'll need to do better than that!" Shocker cried.

Spider-Man shakes off the hit, bouncing back to his feet. He uses his agility to zip around the bank, creating distance as he assesses the situation. While the situation was going on, Sonic ended up speeding over to watch the fight up close.

"Yes! I made it. I can't wait to see this." Said Sonic all excited which sparks up his quills a little

'Gotta outsmart him! He relies on those gauntlets too much, I can use that.' Peter thought to himself.

As Shocker prepares to fire again, Spider-Man leaps onto the ceiling, crawling upside down, watching him carefully.

"You know, I heard that robbing banks is a real shock to your system!" Peter cried out as he swung over.

Sonic chuckled as he heard the quips. "Oof, that's a good one!"

Shocker, frustrated, fires a barrage of blasts at Spider-Man's last position, but he's already moved. Spider-Man swings down from the ceiling, delivering a powerful kick to Shocker's chest, knocking him back.

Sonic gasped. "Oh, yeah!"

"Gotcha!" Peter mocked. "Now, let's zap this situation back to normal!"

Shocker, slightly dazed, tries to regain his footing. He fires another shockwave, but Spider-Man anticipates it, using his webbing to swing out of its path and back toward Shocker. Spider-Man lands deftly behind him, quickly wrapping Shocker in a web cocoon before he can react.

Herman was struggling to escape. "No! You can't do this!"

"Sorry, buddy," Peter said with relief. "But it's time to pay the piper!"

With Shocker securely wrapped up, Spider-Man heard the police sirens. Well... siren. They really only have one car. Tom and Wade were going to have some fun with this one.

"Next time, maybe try a legitimate job?" Peter asked. "Just a thought!"

As the sirens approach, Spider-Man swings away, leaving the chaos behind. But as he was watching, he saw a dash of blue running out of his eyesight, getting Peter to look over, and just missed the blue hedgehog.

"Weird..." Peter muttered.

Peter went back to work like normal, worked on S.A.G.E., and then packed it up for the night to head home. He took the quill with him to see if he could discover anything about it as he headed home. When he got home, he spotted some raccoons who were digging through the garbage.

"Ugh, come on," Peter groaned as this wasn't the first time. "How is it New York and Green Hills have the same raccoon problem?" He then shooed the raccoons. "Shoo! Go away! Seriously, get back at me when you learn how to talk or fire a gun. I get enough of your kind from Rocket as it is." He then headed inside and sighed. "Okay, I agree, babe, we've seriously gotta talk to Maddie about how to exterminate raccoons."

Lucky then dashed over towards the door which Peter quickly kneeled over and scratched the dog.

"Hey, Pizza Dog, look who's home!" Peter said in a baby-voice. "Have you seen Emma?"

That was when Emma came out through the hallway and revealed she already had her suitcase packed. "Hey, sorry, I wanted to try and get packed up so I didn't need to worry when Maddie was ready. We're going to be leaving in about an hour or two."

Peter walked over to her and gave her a kiss. "Its going to feel so lonely without you... poking around on my head."

Emma lightly slapped him on the shoulder. "I don't read your mind."

"Oh, so we don't count messing with my dreams as entering my mind?" Peter asked sarcastically.

"You have no proof of that," Emma said in a slightly pitched tone.

Peter rolled his eyes and kissed her again. "So... we have an hour..."

Emma rolled her eyes and knew what he was thinking. "Really?"

"I mean, if you dont want to, fine," Peter said playfully as he backed away. "I just-"

That was when he was silenced as Emma quickly entered his mind to freeze him. "Oh, no, you dont." She said as she strutted playfully over to him. "One hour." She then grabbed him by his shirt. "Let's see how long you can go, Spider..."

"Challenge accepted," Peter said as Emma released him and he scooped her up.

Emma giggled as she wrapped her arms around Peter as they made their way off to have some fun before she left.

The next day, Sonic is peeking from behind a tree, watching a baseball game. He made it just at the end of the game as he saw everyone cheering.

"Whoa, the playoffs!" Sonic said.

Sonic speeds over to the bleachers to watch the game up close and the players congratulate each other. He watched the fun they had with other people, and wished he had something like that...

Later on, everyone packs up and heads for home, leaving the baseball diamond completely empty. Sonic is now on the baseball diamond at night, admiring the beauty of it all. The lights were still on as he looked around at the scene.

"Whoa! So cool!" Sonic spots some baseball equipment was left behind.

Sonic quickly scoops up the gear as he plays the role of a batter at home plate. "Bottom of the 9th, tie score. And exactly who you want at the plate with the game on the line- Sonic!"

Sonic sped onto the field, playing the role of the pitcher for the opposing team. "But staring him down from the pitcher's mound is the most fearsome southpaw in Green Hills- also Sonic!"

Sonic switches back to the batter. "Okay. Focus, Sonic. If you win this game, you'll be the most beloved kid in Green Hills."

Sonic sped off now playing the role of an infielder, Sonic did a secret code with his fingers, straightened his cap, slapped his face a few times, did a couple of armpit farts, flaps his hands, and cupped them against his mouth.

"Hit it to the guy on left! He's a real space case." Sonic said.

Playing the role of the left outfielder, Sonic looks up to the sky as he blows a bubble of gum. Then he quickly sped over and resumed the role of the pitcher.

"Ugh, I can't with that guy."

Sonic plays the role of the umpire. "Hey, batter Sonic. Hey, batter Sonic. "Suh-wing," batter Sonic."

As the pitcher, Sonic throws the ball and speeds to the batter position as the ball makes its way toward home plate he hits the ball high. As the outfielder, he smells a flower in the grass and sees the ball.

"I got it, I got it, I got it!" Sonic tries to catch the ball but is unsuccessful. "I don't got it."

As the batter, Sonic runs to first base and rounds second while he throws the ball as the outfielder and he dodges the ball in slow motion as the batter and he comes up to third base and plays the role of a teammate.

"Go home! Go home!" Sonic encouraged.

Sonic rounds third base and he plays the umpire again.

"Come on!"

Sonic jumps up and makes a dive for home plate, the umpire catches the ball and he makes it.

"Safe!"

Sonic slides to a stop and jumps with joy. "Ah, yes! Yes, yes, yes! I did it! Did you see that? I did it! I did it..."

Sonic holds up his hand but sees that the baseball diamond is completely empty and silent. He remembered how he was basically alone in all of this...

"I really am alone," Somic said as he whipped off the batter helmet and began to walk off. "All alone… forever."

Sonic starts running around the perimeter of the baseball diamond at a very fast speed, his anger and sadness increasing and energy building with each lap.

Finally, Sonic lets out a loud yell as a bright blue electromagnetic pulse explodes in the air, causing the lights in the baseball diamond to explode. The brilliant pulse blooms outwards and spreads across the valley. Several cities blackout, plunging into darkness.

New York was also hit, the X-Mansion, Sanctum, and even Avengers Tower were struck by the power outage. The EMP was so strong it even knocked out their backup power.

Even a satellite is disabled by the EMP.

Sonic froze as he looked around, noticing the surge he caused. "I'm sure no one noticed that giant blue explosion, right?"

And with that, he quickly speeds away.

Peter groaned as the surge of power ended up waking him up as he walked down the stairs from his bedroom. "Seriously?" He asked as he made his way down. "Is this the universe telling me to..." Before he could continue to rant, he noticed something glowing from his jacket near the door. "What?"

Peter walked over and noticed that it was the quill from earlier that was glowing. He looked closer and wondered what this thing was made out of.

"Weird..." Peter muttered.

At the Pentagon, the top members of the United States military sit down at a table in a joint meeting, held by Commander Walters, commander of the U.S. Armed Forces.

"20 minutes ago, an energy surge knocked out power across the entire Pacific Northwest." Commander Walters said. "What do we know?

"Well, our first instinct was it was an EMP. But electromagnetic pulses don't have that kind of power."

"NASA has ruled out meteor strikes or solar flares."

"The Department of Energy says it's not a power plant malfunction."

"Director Fury proclaims they weren't working on anything at the time."

"Well, sounds like we're really good at figuring out what it wasn't." Commander Walters commented.

"This could be a prelude to a larger attack. I'm suggesting we scramble the 5th and 6th Regiment."

"No, no, no, no." Commander Walters says. "This needs a much more sophisticated mind. Someone who understands technology."

"You want to send in a lab rat?"

"Not just any lab rat. A lab rat with teeth." Commander Walters said.

"You're not suggesting who I think you're suggesting."

"I know he's a little weird," Walters says.

"Weird?!"

"No. No. No way."

"He's a psychological tire fire!"

"But he's also brilliant. 5 PhDs, IQ off the charts. And his drone tech i-i-is revolutionary!" Commander Walters defends his choice. "Second only best by Stark, and... don't tell him I said that."

"You're sure he can handle this?"

"He has a perfect operations record. Remember the coup in Pakistan?"

"No."

"Or the uprising in Azerbaijanistan?"

"That's not even a country."

"Exactly. And you can thank Robotnik for that." Commander Walters responds.

"Can't we ask the Avengers or something?"

"I can't believe you're bringing that freak into this."

Commander Walters sighed as he couldn't believe it either. "Neither can I. But… we have no choice."

The Military has set up a detachment at the baseball diamond to investigate the anomaly. A large black truck, a red electronic eye adorning its hood, slowly pulls in, catching the attention of Major Bennington. Major Bennington watched it approach and was a little confused.

"What the…"

A fold-out staircase opens and sets up as Dr. Robotnik steps out of the truck, wearing heavy sunglasses and an all-black suit with red trims on the inside, and he makes his way over to Major Bennington along with his assistant, Agent Stone. Dr. Robotnik approaches the major and takes his glasses off as the major warily puts a hand on his sidearm holster in case he needs it.

Robotnik asked as he approached Bennington. "Are you in charge here?"

"Yes, I am-"

"Nope!"

"My-"

"Wrong!"

"-name-"

"I'm in charge!"

"...is Major-"

"Me!"

"Ben-"

"I'm in charge." He whispers. He then shows Major Bennington his digital badge that is being held by Agent Stone. "You've never seen anything like this before. It says I'm the top banana in a world full of hungry little monkeys." He then points upward. "Allow me to clarify." He then turns his head to the side while making a servo noise. "In a sequentially ranked hierarchy based on level of critical importance, the disparity between us is too vast to quantify. Agent Stone?"

"The Doctor thinks you're basic." Agent Stone explains.

"I'm initiating a sweep sequence," Robotnik said as he pressed some buttons on his glove control panel. "10 miles in every direction should suffice."

On the top of Dr. Robotnik's truck, his flying drones prepare to be dispatched.

"Is he still looking at me funny?"

"Yes, he is." Stone answers.

"Tell him to stop or I'll pull up his search history," Robotnik warns.

"If you don't stop looking at the doctor, he'll take a closer look-"

"I'm not deaf."

"And tell him his men report to me now," Robotnik said almost like he was annoyed. "Blah blah blah… blah blah blah… blah blah blah."

"Excuse me? Listen, pal, I don't know if you realize-"

"I'm sorry, Major. What was your name?" Robotnik asked, turning to face him again.

"Benning-"

"Nobody cares!" Robotnik said as he approached Bennington. "Nobody cares. Listen, Major Nobody-Cares. You know why nobody cares who you are? Because nobody cares about your feeble accomplishments. Robotnik walks up to Major Bennington and walks around him like a snake. "And nobody cares how proud your mommy is that you're now reading at a 3rd-grade level. Have you finished Charlotte's Web yet? Spoiler alert: She dies in the end. But she leaves a big creepy egg sac." Then he sees his drones flying around and coming into formation. "Ah, my babies! Ooh! Look at what came out of my egg sack! You know what I love about machines?" He then turns to face the drones. "They do what they're told. They follow their programming! They don't need time off to get drunk and put the boat in the water!"

He then Turns back to face everyone, pointing at Major Bennington. "Now, you do what you're told. Stand over there on the edge of your personal abyss…" He then opens his arms. "...and watch my machines do your job."

A disgruntled Major Bennington walks away and Agent Stone turns to face Dr. Robotnik.

"Can you feel it, Stone?" Robotnik asks.

"I can feel it, Doctor."

"It's evolution, Stone." Robotnik proclaims as he presses buttons on his gloves, and clenches his fists. "It's evolution!"

The drones fly off into the distance, beginning to scan the areas surrounding the baseball field.

The drones disperse into the forest, weaving between the trees and scanning their surroundings. Each one carries a red lens, similar to that on the truck, resembling an eye.

One drone hovers over a rock, examining a muddy imprint. The print on the stone reveals the distinct pattern of a worn sole, marked by unmistakable hedgehog toeprints.

Back at his truck, Dr. Robotnik is watching and controlling the operation on a giant holographic screen. He pulls up the photo of the footprint and zooms in on it, seeing something wrong as Agent Stone enters.

"Agent Stone?"

"Doctor."

Robotnik shows Agent Stone the image of the shoe print. "Do you see anything useful in this image?"

"Nothing at all, Doctor."

"Of course you don't." Robotnik sighs. "Your eyes weren't expertly trained to spot tracks by the Native American Shadow Wolves."

Robotnik presses some buttons on the control panel and scoots back a little as the image now shows what looks like an unusual foot.

"That's extraordinary."

"No. What's extraordinary is I've determined the exact height, weight, and spinal curvature of this creature, and my computer can't find a single match for it anywhere in Earth's animal kingdom." Robotnik proclaims, standing up to stand over Stone. "This blackout was not a terrorist attack, and that's no baby Bigfoot." This guy is something else… entirely." He proclaimed, looking over the footprint. "Divert all search units to the sight of the footprint. Something to finally show that we don't need those costumed Neanderthals that everyone worships. That's one small step for man, one giant leap for me."

The Military and the drones are searching the area while Sonic watches from a distance.

"Okay, okay. Everything is fine." Sonic muttered to himself. "You played some baseball, got a little upset, lightning shot out of your butt, and now they're coming for you!"

Sonic speeds back to his tree trunk home as fast as he can, frantically looking around.

"All right, all right. Earth isn't safe anymore. Time for Plan B-Mushroomville. But I gotta take my stuff. Okay, essential items only." Sonic continues to talk to himself as he zips around while packing everything he can. "Okay, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair gel, night light. Funny hat. This half-eaten cantaloupe. Oh, my scented candle. My entire comic book collection. Beanbag chair. Can a beanbag chair fit in a backpack? No, no, no. Of course not. That's stupid. Okay, what else? The Rings! The Rings, yes, of course!"

Sonic packs everything into a red backpack and holds the Ring satchel.

"Here we go," Sonic says as he takes one ring out. "Ring time. Mushroom Planet, here I come."

As Sonic is about to toss the ring, he hears the dogs coming and drones whirring.

"Oh, no! They're right outside! I gotta go somewhere else," Sonic was running when he turned back to take one last look at his cave. "Goodbye, cave..."

Peter sat at his makeshift home office desk, the dim glow of his laptop illuminating the clutter around him. A sudden power outage had plunged his entire home into darkness, casting a shadow over his usual work environment. The labs, usually buzzing with activity, were silent, leaving him no choice but to adapt to this unexpected situation. Fortunately, his laptop battery remained fully charged, allowing him to continue his work on the S.A.G.E. AI without interruption.

As he immersed himself in lines of code, focused on perfecting the nuances of the program, his phone suddenly vibrated on the desk, breaking his concentration. He glanced at the screen, and a sense of warmth washed over him as he recognized the name—Emma. With a smile, he reached for the device and answered the call, eager to hear her voice amidst the silence that had enveloped him.

"Hey, there!" Peter greeted her.

"Hey, how's it going?" Emma asks.

"Ah, everything is same old same old silent night going on here," Peter said as a slight joke. "We did have some excitement, the power went out."

"Really?" Emma was surprised to hear. "We didn't get anything down here."

"Must have been while you were on the plane." Peter guessed. "But, hey, just gave me something to do. So, how's it staying with Maddie's sister? She convinced Maddie to leave Tom?"

"Heh, close," Emma said as a joke. "She just got off the phone with him. I heard something to do with Olive Garden and... dating apps."

"Ha!" Peter felt sorry that Tom had to deal with this kind of sister-in-law, but it was fun to hear about it. That was when he heard glass breaking, getting him to look towards the window, and saw something broke into the shed. "Ugh, the raccoons are back, and now they're breaking and entering."

"Ugh, it's like the universe is telling you to get the hell out of town," Emma stated with a sigh.

Peter groaned and knew he needed to deal with that. "Well, maybe it's time I brought out the Tranque-Shotters," He then pulled out a specifically modified web shooter that shot out tranquilizers. "Give these guys something to tell their friends."

"Tranque-Shooters?" Emma asks. "I don't remember signing off on that name. Also, aren't those powerful enough to knock out the Hulk? You never adjusted the formula."

"Well, like I said, it would really give them something to tell their friends," Peter stated. "Love ya, babe, gotta go!"

Peter then quickly hung up before she could object, only earning a laugh from Emma on the other end. Sonic has now climbed through the window and is inside Peter's shed, leaving dirt all over the workbench.

"Okay, I'm in." He then gets down from the workbench and onto the floor. "With minimal damage to Spider-Man's property." Sonic then reaches into the satchel and pulls out a Ring. "Here we go. It didn't work out on Earth, but that's okay! You're going to a safe world. A nice, safe world filled with mushrooms- mushrooms that'll be your only friends. That sounds awful, I can't do this! You have to do it. There's no other option." He then takes a deep breath. "All right."

Sonic prepares to toss the ring when he hears the door to the garage barging open and he sees Peter pointing the tranquilizer web shooter and an attached flashlight while looking around.

"Alright, you dirty Rocket relatives! Paws in the air!" Peter then points the shooters at a stunned Sonic.

Peter and Sonic were frozen when they saw one another, trying to figure out where to go from there. "Uh... meow?"

Peter screams in horror and Sonic screams back before Peter fires the tranq and accidentally shoots Sonic in the leg with a dart.

"Ow!" As Sonic starts losing consciousness, he reads the words on Peter's shirt which read "I survived a trip to San Francisco".

"San...Francisco?"

Sonic drops the Ring and it opens up a portal to the sprawling streets of San Fransisco in the middle of the floor a bewildered Peter watches while Sonic stumbles to the ground and drops his ring satchel through the portal, which lands on the roof of a pointy building.

The portal begins to close as Sonic tries to reach it. "No..." The portal is now closed, leaving an unconscious Sonic lying on the ground and Peter, still in shock at what he saw.

"What in the Mystic Arts just happened?" Peter wonders.

Sonic is now inside Lucky's dog cage and Peter gently pokes him with a spatula and moves his head a little. He then notices Sonic's quills and picks up the one he found earlier. It's a match. Then he looked back over toward the creature and remembered Crazy Carl's drawing that Tom showed him.

"The Blue Devil."

Peter walks to the counter and ponders what he should do, while Sonic regains consciousness, opens the cage, and tries to stand up. Peter grabs his cell phone and wonders if he should call Reed, Stark, or even Charles as he turns back to the cage, but is startled by Sonic starting to wake up.

"Spider-Man?"

"It can talk," Peter said mostly to himself. "You're not... you're not here to abduct me, are you?"

"You abducted me!" Sonic said with a scoff.

"Okay, that's a fair point." Peter wonders. "What are you? Why were you hiding out in my shed?"

"I needed to be somewhere safe. And you're the only person I could think of, Spider-Man."

"Why do you keep calling me Spider-Man?" Peter asks.

"'Cause you are Spider-Man," Sonic stated.

"How do you know that?" Peter wonders.

"Wait, wait, wait. Where are all the mushrooms?" Sonic asked as he looked around. "Why am I still on Earth? What is- Oh, no! I lost my Rings!"

"Rings?" Peter then hears a vehicle approaching outside, which is Dr. Robotnik's truck parking outside. "What's happening? Is this your mother ship? I'm not in the mood to get probed. It's happened way too often for my liking. Damn Skrulls."

"You think you're worried? I'm not even wearing pants!" Sonic cried.

Peter then looks out the window to see Dr. Robotnik's truck parked outside. "What the…"

Sonic looks out as well but yelps and covers the window with the curtains. "They're coming for me!"

"Who's coming for you? Are you some sort of criminal?" Peter questions, trying to figure out what's going on.

"I don't have time to explain, but you have to help me!" Sonic begged.

Peter was a little confused. "Why?"

"Well, my legs, which normally would be classified as lethal weapons, feel like spaghetti." Sonic cried, gesturing down to his said legs. "I need your help. Please. It's life or death. Please... I've seen you help people in need; I am someone in need."

Peter looked at Sonic, then back to the window, knowing that this kid was too energetic to be some sort of outlaw. Likely he is dealing with an illegal alien scenario and if he was captured he would be taken to some sort of lab.

"Alright, yeah, you're right, I'll help. Come with me." Peter walks out while Sonic tries to walk, but instead facepalms on the floor after falling off the table.

"Uh, little help?"

Dr. Robotnik is examining more footprints and he uses his glove controls again. Peter lowered the latter for the attic that he and Emma basically used to store holiday decorations since they also had a basement for anything big or major.

"All right, stay here. And be quiet, I will figure out what's going on," Peter told him.

"Good plan. Great plan! We're already working so well together! Practically finishing each other's sentences." Sonic rambled on.

Peter listened to him ramble and just shook it off as just an energetic kid as he walked downstairs, closing the attic door on the way out.

"Okay, bye," Sonic said as the door closed.

Standing in the doorway, Peter looks out and sees Dr. Robotnik on the walkway. His senses were lightly humming, alerting him that this guy was definitely dangerous. Not a physical way like Rhino and Goblin, but he knew that he was dangerous and went on with caution.

"Hello! Can I help you, sir?" Peter asks.

Dr. Robotnik walks over to the steps. "Good morning, my rural chum. I'm… from the power company, investigating the blackout. If you don't mind, I'd like to take a few readings inside your house?"

Peter could easily see he was lying. "No kidding! You're from the power company? You must know my buddy Marko. We play football together."

Dr. Robotnik seemed to try and play into the statement. "Ah, Mark. He's a good man."

"Yeah. Come on in!" Peter said to the doctor.

"Great." Dr. Robotnik said as he trotted up the steps and onto the porch before being stopped by Peter.

"Except," Peter then bars the doorway to block Dr. Robotnik from entering. "I have a bit of history with the power company, and I know the power company takes their readings from outside the house... That way they can check on you even if you're not home. Also, my buddy Marko works for the gas station, and he's more of a tennis guy. So, you want to tell me why you think I'm dumb enough to just let you walk inside my house?"

Dr. Robotnik puts one hand behind his back and uses his glove controls to send out a couple of his drones to search the house. "I'm sorry, Mister…"

"Parker. Peter Parker, but my dentist calls Pietro and at this point, I've known him so long it would be weird to correct," Peter introduced himself.

"Well, Parker Peter whose dentist calls him Pietro you may have noticed that this entire town has been experiencing a power outage," Robotnik stated, looking out into the woods.

"Yep, no lights. I was down there this morning working it out. The world has seen many weird things with all those costumed people around so it can't be that weird." Peter informed him.

"20 minutes ago, I tracked an energy pulse with a similar signature to the one that caused this disruption," Robotnik stated.

Some of Dr. Robotnik's drones fly into the house via the windows which sets off Peters's spider-sense and even the chimney and one scans the attic while Sonic watches and tries to stay out of sight.

"Listen, Mister..."

"Doctor. Dr. Robotnik, but my dentist calls me Rob." Robotnik introduced himself while making fun of what Peter said

"Look, uh, Dr. Robotskeez. Um, I'm sure what you're here for is very serious, but it's got nothing to do with me. I am just the tech guy in this town." Peter tried to get this guy to leave. "Just ask anyone in town. I work at Horizon Labs. I fix things and create things to help people."

"I bet they do. I'm sure you're hella popular with the Jebs and the Merles and Billy Bobs in this glorified gas-station rest stop and that glorified tech company. And maybe someday you'll achieve your goal of getting a Costco card or adopting a Labradoodle." Robotnik said as he then got into Peter's face. "But the reality is, I surpassed EVERYTHING YOU'RE EVER GOING TO DO or any of these so-called super-powered beings have or ever will do… before I was a toddler. I was spitting out formulas while you were still spitting up formula."

Peter saw he was getting uncomfortably close. "I was breastfed, actually."

Robotnik scoffed. "Nice. Rub that in my orphan face. Mr. Parker, are you familiar with US Code 904, Title 10, Article 104?"

"Yeah, I actually-"

"Anyone who attempts to aid an enemy of the United States shall suffer death." Robotnik proclaimed. "And if I'm the one who catches you, it'll be even worse."

Peter gave him a bit of a look. "Worse than death?"

Sonic is curled up into a ball to blend in with the other sports balls to avoid detection.

"Okay, I'm a ball, just a normal ball. I'm blending in like a ball. Shh, stop talking. No, you stop talking. Be quiet, Sonic. YOU be quiet, Sonic! Oh, I hope they aren't scanning me with X-rays. I had a kind of an embarrassing lunch."

Another flying drone flies into the attic and starts scanning the area and they get closer to the blue ball.

"Don't freak out. Don't freak out, don't freak out..." The lasers get even closer] Don't freak out, don't freak out..." Just before the scanners reach him, he panics. "I'm freaking out!"

Sonic rolls out of his hiding spot, fumbles out of the attic, and rolls down the stairs.

"Why don't you have your staircase carpeted?!" Sonic rolls into the kitchen and bumps into the counter.

"Compared to what I-" Peter and Dr. Robotnik look for the source of the noise.

Peter groaned as he figured it was Sonic. "Old pipes."

"Yeah. Probably just the house settling. Nothing to see here!" Robotnik then turned like he was leaving.

Robotnik pushes Peter out of the way and rushes inside to find the source of the noise with Peter behind him. Peter and Dr. Robotnik find a raccoon on top of the counter, chomping away at Peter's leftover pancakes.

"Here's the thing. I'm never wrong." Robotnik stated.

Peter pats Dr. Robotnik's shoulder. "Well, first time for everything, I guess." Peter walks over to the counter as the raccoon leaves through a doggie door. "Would you like some breakfast? I hear raccoons have the cleanest mouths of any animal that routinely eats garbage."

Dr. Robotnik chuckles and gives Peter a chagrined look and turns away, only to find the quill Tom gave him on the table, and he picks it up, a sinister smirk appears on his face. "Look at that. I was right." He waves his hand down his face. "Note the lack of surprise." Dr. Robotnik's face turns angry once again. "Shall we try this again?"

Robotnik then whistles to the tune of Richard Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" and a flying drone slowly approaches Peter while Sonic is watching underneath the counter and the drone arms its weapons and aims them at Peter. Dr. Robotnik strokes Sonic's quill as he inches closer to Peter.

"I'm going to give you 5 seconds to tell me where it is. 5." Robotnik counts down.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Peter said, backing off.

"4."

"Hey, smart guy, you don't know who you are threatening," Peter warned him.

"How can you threaten somebody who never existed?" Robotnik didn't seem to care. "3. Come on! Rack your brain! You might be able to come up with some lame excuse to go on living. In 2…"

Peter then began to activate his web shooters, grabbing them from the drawer and preparing to attack the drone.

"1!"

Sonic rushes from beneath the counter. "Wait! Don't hurt him!"

Robotnik screams when he sees the blue creature. Peter saw he had an opening and he then punched Dr. Robotnik in the face, knocking him out and webbing him to the wall. A skirmish ensues inside the house with the flying drone firing its weapons everywhere, breaking objects and knocking some over while Sonic and Peter scramble for cover. Peter shot out a web to cover the scanner and give them a chance to hide.

"This feels excessive!" Sonic notices the drone and gets an idea.

"Stay behind me," Peter said as he prepared to fight it off.

That was when he noticed Sonic is no longer with him, but rather, climbing on top of a shelf, preparing to commence his attack. Peter shakes his head urgently but Sonic just nods and gives him a smug look Sonic jumps onto the drone.

"Hiya!" Sonic is now flying on top of the drone. "Don't worry, I got it right where I want it!"

Peter scrambles for cover while Sonic is having a blast. He shot several more webs to try and clog the drone's weapons as they fired upon his house.

"Can you believe Amazon is gonna deliver packages with these things?" The drone tries shaking Sonic off. "This was a horrible plan! What was I thinking?!"

Peter sees something as Sonic continues to fight the drone but is ultimately thrown off.

"I'm gonna puke!"

Peter struck the drone with a forceful punch, demolishing the device as it crashed into his home's wall, resulting in an explosion that tore a hole through the structure. He then hurried to Sonic, who was dazed from the skirmish, and carried him to safety to get him out of the house. Without wasting a moment, Peter dashed to retrieve the laptop harboring the S.A.G.E. AI and shot a web to grab a backpack housing a specially designed suit he dubbed Project: Velocity.

"Come on! We gotta get out of here." Peter said as he grabbed the car keys and raced out the door.

"Oh, don't tell me that's all you got! I'm just getting started!" Sonic cried as they ran outside and towards the car. "Let me know if you want to go round two with the blue!"

Peter puts him in the passenger seat gets into the truck, starts it, and drives away as quickly as possible, just as Agent Stone arrives and he walks inside the house and finds Dr. Robotnik webbed to the wall.

"Doctor! Are you okay?" Stone helps Dr. Robotnik out of the webbing as he pulls the wall off to get him free. "I saw a guy race out of here and thought-"

"That you should stop them? Open your mouth and say you thought that you should stop them." Robotnik tells him as he dusts the webbing off of him.

"No, I thought that maybe I should check to see if you were okay…"

Dr. Robotnik grabs him by his lower jaw and pulls him close. "You know what's hard about being the smartest person in the world?"

"Everyone else seems stupid." Stone muffled.

"Stupid, yes! Way to go! You got that one." Robotnik then releases Agent Stone and wipes his gloves on Agent Stone's coat. "Whatever this creature is, it's our job to secure it, neutralize it, uncover the source of its power. And if it resists, we take it apart. Piece by piece. See what makes it tick. The same goes for our rural chum..." Then he puts on his broken glasses. "Stone?"

"Doctor?"

"Call Optical Illusions." Robotnik takes off his glasses. "Tell them I need new frames." He tosses his glasses to the floor. "They know what kind I like." He then walks away but stops. "Oh, and bring that quill."

"Yes, Doctor. Why are we also bringing in that man?"

"Our new friend has a few secrets," says Dr. Robotnik looking at the webbing on his drone and on the wall.

While that was going on, someone was overseeing everything that was going on and everything that Robotnic was seeing. Not trusting the mad doctor, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine was overseeing from her own computers. She happened to watch from a cloaked drone how Robotnic was chasing a lead and then saw the fight going on from the outside of the house when she saw Peter Parker running out carrying a creature.

"So... the blackout was caused by a thing," Val said as she looked at the footage. "Time to send my own team." She then tapped the button to activate her comm. "Summon the Thunderbolts. I have a job for them..."
